Today is a sad day for Selucia. After Motus Patriciorum won the last elections, everyone was hoping for them to keep building a stronger Selucia. Myself as Consul Populi bellieved so. But they have gone too far. They have been cutting fundamental rights of the Selucian people, such as freedom of speech, religion and decision, and have decided to benefit the rich against the poor. However, I am speaking today because they have decided to restore the monarchy in our great nation. An hereditary monarchy. That is just disgusting. People should decide their leaders, and no one should be in a higher position just because their parents were someone else. I am broken to see that, in December, I will be the last Consul Populi de Selucia, and a monarchy will be in charge of this nation. However, I will keep fighting for the fundamental rights of everyone, in the waay we believe. Thanks.

International tragedy hits Selucia

In January 4175, Lea Lenin, Secretary General and Interim Premier of the Davostan Revolutionary Front, Supreme Chairman of the Political Committe of the DRF. Supreme Matriarch of the DRF, along with her colleagues, was supposed to be received in the nation by Hypatia Scafidi, Consul Populi de Selucia, and Manius Commodianus Octavianus, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to talk about the current situation in Davostan and future relations in relation with democracy.
However, in a dramatic change, Selucian governing bodies have been informed about a tragic accident: Mrs. Lenin plane supposedly had a malfunction, and fell from the sky into the territory of Kal Serathi.

Luckily, the survivors were now found and others were in a critical condition. Welcoming them in the Davostag Airport. Mister Fitzwilliam Jacobi went to answer the reporters in a press conference talking about the tragedy, talking above the crowd sitting on a wheelchair.

Selucia cries over the decease of Athena Scudo
The most powerful woman of Selucia dies on July 4176, aged 97, shocking the international community

She was the second woman ever in the position of Minister of Defence. She founded a political party that has ruled Selucia for more than 40 years. She protested against the conservative laws of Factio Conservativa. She resigned of all his government positions after her party lost than 80% of the votes in the elections, she ruled Selucia for 8 years with far left policies, she retired but when called, she came back to politics aged 89 to hold once again the position of Minister of Defence. But sadly, tonight this newspaper announced the death of Athena Scudo.

The oldest of two daughters, she studied Medicine to become a doctor in the University de Florentia, where she met student Ethan Megalos and teacher Kyrian Aetius Flavius in the University de Florentia, and while she was still an undergraduate, they enjoyed having deep conversations about politics. In May 4098, the Left Council movement was founded in the university, integrated by university teachers and students who did not agree with the conservative politics of the current government (Factio Conservativa). Joined under the same motto ("Novus Saeculi, Novas Ideas"), they started formal actions to turn the movement into a legal party, named In Marea Possumus Facere in reference to a mass of people moving forward to get the same, to concur to the 4100 General Elections of Selucia, which they won, getting all the possible seats (750 out of 750).

After the victory in the 4100 elections, where her partners Megalos and Aetius Flavius were elected as Caesar de Senatum and Consul de Popularis of Selucia, she maintained a relatively low profile as deputy in the regional assembly of Kal Serathi. When Marian Omeya announced his retirement from politics at the end of the legislature, Megalos offered her the Ministry of Defence, remplacing Omeya. She accepted it, and soon became one of the most powerful women in the nation. Her politics as Minister of Defence turned the nation into a more neutral one, signing defensive treaties with some other nations and developing the national army forces. Following the 4115 election results, where the party lost almost 80% of its seats and could not be in the government, she announced her resignation as candidate for Defence, joining Percy Lacoonte (General Secretary), Thea Balancia (Justice), Aristotheles Plinio (Education and Culture), Cornelia Ornatore (Science) and Vesta Pompodulos (Agriculture).

However, following the resignation of Percy Lacoonte and her own resignation as candidate for Defence, she announced her candidature to General Secretary of the party for a second time. She competed against four other candidates selected by the General Assembly of the party, finally winning by almost 75% of the militant votes, becoming officially the new General Secretary of In Marea, an, in consequence, the party's candidate for the position of Caesar de Senatum. Scudo was elected as Caesar de Senatum of Selucia in the 4119 elections, where the party could form a minority government. During her legislatures (4119-4123 and 4123-4127), she applied far-left politics as she thought could do the best to the nation, which made most of the conservative sectors of the society fill the streets with protests, but she resigned after three consecutive elections (4127, 4131 and 4135) losing seats in the Ekklesía, saying "she was not able to fill the expectations".

After the 4166 elections, she was named for the position of Minister of Defence by Icarion Dadhelus. After four failed cabinet proposals, an agreement between the four main parties in Selucia was made and she returned to her previous ministry once more, becoming the oldest person ever to have been in a Selucian cabinet, being at the time 89 years old.

As a result, she had been Secretary and spokesperson of a party, member of the national parliament, minister of Defence and Caesar Senatus (Head of Government) of a nation, becoming the most powerful woman ever in Selucia.

Her best friend, Xenia Herculae, former minister of Foreign Affairs from 4100 to 4115 and a powerful woman in Selucian politics, has declared to be "enormously shattered", and Consul Populi Hypatia Scafidi (In Marea), has announced the creation of a national park with her name.

Winds of change in Selucia
After 17 years of conservative government, citizens have spoken

After almost 20 years of a coalition between Partis Nationalisti and Motus Patriciorum, the dissolution of both parties due to the low results sent by the polls (not reaching even a 10% of the vote between both) have sent the nation to early elections, and the result has been a tie between Populares and In Marea, with 375 seats each of them. With Populares reaching the Consul Populi, and agreement has been made and both of them will share the government: Icarion Dadhelus, from In Marea, will chair the cabinet and become the new Caesar Senatus of Selucia.

With this renovation, the progressive forces come back to power, and have promised to change the old politics applied by Partis Nationalisti and Motus Patriciorum. The first changes have ben just symbolic, but express the will of change those two parties want to apply from now on: the new Minister of Justice, Viria Agelasta, is the first black person to reach a Ministry in Selucian history, where only one other black person has reached a place in politics (Diana Minnea, Selucian Ambassador to Cildania). This shows the will of the new government to work for all and to show that everyone is equal, in opposition to the discriminatory laws applied by the previous government.
The other change implies the new Minister of Education and Culture: for the first time ever, a woman will hold this position, a long time protest by the citizens (women have held all the other Ministries), and this responsibility will go to Ateia Venator. As addition, the new cabinet is the first one ever with more women than men, with also the considered more powerful ministries (Ministries of Internal Affairs, Finance, Defence, Justice, Health, Education and Culture and Trade and Industry are occupied by women, while Ministries of Foreing Affairs, Infrastructure and Transport, Science, Agriculture and Environment are occupied by men).

The new government is also filling the empty seats in the Supremum Iudicatorum after the deaths of Claudia Minerva, Lucio Balbino and Autius Valerius, after the previous government left it for almost 20 years, showing its irresponsability. The recently appointed Iudex are Mireia Agina in replacement of Claudia Minerva, Marcus Ignitius in replacement of Lucio Balbino and Anquiro Sorianus in replacement of Autius Valerius, giving a complete majority of progressive judges to the Supreme Court, with Gregorio Palliatus, who is expected to retire soon, being the last conservative Iudex.

New changes also included the renovation of the Selucian Ambassador to the World Congress (Ajax Apostolos becomes the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Selucia and his position is occupied by Altair Rodis as new Ambassador), and the start of negotiations for a bilateral and long-term meetings with Istalia.

A major electoral victory for the progressives in Selucia. After what seemed as if the conservatives abandoned their parties, the Populares and In Marea have evenly split the Senatus into 375 per party. Marcus Crispinus Cato had made a short and brief speech after the results were announced.

After obtaining approval of the Aurorian Patriarch, Bishop Ambrose Milianius has created the Factio Hosiana, the newest political party in Selucia, advocating for religious, traditional, and conservative values. Bishop Milianius has already proposed a slew of new legislation in the Senate, all of which he expects to be voted down. He hopes that this legislation will, "bring the Factio Hosiana into the public light, so that the millions of faithful who are not represented in the In Marea and Populares coalition will engage more in public life." He added, "We are hopeful that this time next year, we will be in a good position to challenge the coalition's stranglehold."

Only time will tell if the Factio Hosiana will be as successful as Bishop Milanius predicts.

Factio Hosiana Wins Majority!

With the election results tallied, the Factio Hosiana has won a plurality in the Senate, Bishop Milanius responded "It is by the grace of Elyon that we have won this victory." While it is unlikely that the Factio Hosiana will be able to enact their party platform or be able to form a coalition government, they will likely form a powerful opposition bloc to a potential leftist in Marea/Populares government.

After the results of the last elections, were the recently founded conservative party Factio Hosiana managed to get more seats than any other party, members of In Marea Possumus Facere have started movements.

After refusing to form a Government coalition with Factio Hosiana, to "not betray our voters who want to see the progress of our nation", now everything is in the air until seeing if Factio Hosiana can reach an agreement to govern in coalition with Populares or, as likely, both leftist parties (Populares and In Marea), will continue to be in government despite Factio Hosiana winning the elections.

However, rumours are saying that In Marea's Secretary, Icarion Dadhelus, and Leader Hypatia Scafidi are both retiring soon, starting bets on who will be their succesors in order to bring the party to its former glory again. Aqua Prunilla, daughter of Tera Pistis and current portavox of the party, is the one with the highest chances to become the new Secretary (to become leader of the party she needs the votes of the General Assembly, which may favour other candidates), followed by Diania Fulvina and Carpio Maximus.
