IUVIM awaken from lethargy
The former youth organization In Marea calls on citizens to take to the streets against the authoritarian and undemocratic drift of the country's current leaders and announce an imminent project

Image
General secretary of the IUVIM, Artamo Commidus

When it seemed that the calm - relative - settled again in Selucia, the past seems to have awakened.

Earlier this afternoon, Artamo Commidus, the general secretary of the IUVIM - which was the youth organization of the historic political party In Marea - appeared after announcing an unexpected press conference to announce something that took everyone by surprise.

The IUVIM - Iuventus In Marea - are much more than a simple youth organization of a political party. Throughout the existence of In Marea, the IUVIM have played a very important role in the evolution of the political orientation of the party and its general secretaries, as well as the election of regional leaders and their rise or fall. Despite being technically an organization linked to In Marea, in practice they were a fully independent organization, with their own statutes and organizational systems, although they were officially the "youth organization of the party". With the dissolution of In Marea, the IUVIM went into the background, once again exercising as an activist organization and defender of workers' rights, but without running for elections or political office. During the centuries that have passed since the dissolution of In Marea, the IUVIM have continued with their union activity, with more or less freedom depending on the political moment.

However, it was not until today that for the first time since the dissolution of In Marea that its general secretary has called a press conference. Until then, the usual thing was to issue communications with the signature of the Federal Assembly of the organization, and its general secretaries were dedicated to giving their opinion when required. Therefore, the expectation on the subject to be discussed was maximum.

With a straight face, Mr. Commidus, elected just a month ago as the new Secretary General of the IUVIM, has charged against the current leaders of the nation, whom he has accused of "hidden dictators" and "ultra-religious fanatics" and has announced a "future project" of which he has not given much information, but of which he assures that numerous senior Selucian leaders already have evidence, who, in a covert way, have shown themselves willing to support at the right time.

"For a long time, the IUVIM have been silent since the dissolution of In Marea. My predecessors, unfortunately, have not been able to measure up to the moment, and have allowed the citizens of our nation to have been forced to suffer ill-treatment by the Selucian leaders. This association has been a silent accomplice of this for too long, and the time has come to break that silence and raise its voice. Selucia is right now run by a group of undercover dictators who, under a false pretense of layer of democracy, they are eroding all our public institutions and extending their tentacles over all the powers of the State, ending the rule of law and our freedoms, pretending to be giving power to the people and to be nothing more than mere representatives of it while they destroy everything that has cost so much to build between all of us. These ultrareligious fanatics who pretend to lead us must be stopped all at once, and from the IUVIM we have launched a project that will soon see the light of day to ensure that this is the case. Some senior Selucian leaders that we have contacted, who oppose the country's current authoritarian drift but fear that making it public will end them, have already confirmed that at the right time, they will give their explicit support to this project. Right now I can only ask those of you who trust in democracy, to see with fear and anger what they are doing with our nation, erasing centuries of history from our institutions and laws, the names of our provinces and even our own nation, placing their religious interests and beliefs before anything else, attacking our freedoms and rights, deceiving us while taking power: do not stay at home. Take to the streets. Raise your voice. Because apart we are easy to get out of the way. But the selucian society has already demonstrated many times throughout history that united, we are unstoppable. "

Just a few hours later, some small protests have been located in different parts of the country, but those that have gained special relevance have been those that have taken place in Insularia, a province that was once the flagship region of In Marea. There, numerous demonstrations have been registered throughout the afternoon. As night fell, and with the protests against the current leaders of the country more widespread, the protests in Insularia have become more violent: burning of containers and vehicles, attacks on police stations, graffiti ... With the police forced to intervene, they have produced the first clashes between the security forces and the protesters, who have rebuked them with shouts like "puppets of power" or "fight with us and not against us."

ImageImage
Clashes in Insularia between the police and protestors

The protests are expected to increase in intensity and number of people in the coming days, and open a new front to the nation's leaders, currently immersed in full religious debate and reforming all the country's institutions.

Deadly Riots as Priests Arrested; Deadline to Arch-Patriarch

(March 2, 4799)

Image
Priest arrested by Duodecimvirate forces

With opposition to the Duodecemvirate regime and its religious policies mounting, the government has decided to take more drastic steps to put an end to the conflict with the Aurorian Patriarchal Church once and for all. The government was authorized by the Constituent Assembly to take whatever measures it deems necessary to bring the remaining non-juring clergy under the government’s control. So this month the Duodecimviri have begun arresting priests and bishops who refuse to comply with the provisions of the Constitution of the Clergy, popular opposition and mounting protests notwithstanding. Thirteen people have been killed and at least one hundred have been injured in the ensuing clashes between the police forces and Hosian faithful, and dozens of priests and bishops have been placed under arrest. To make matters worse, the Duodecemvirate has issued an ultimatum to Arch-Patriarch Thomas Justus of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church, demanding that he leave Selucia within a year or the government will use lethal force against the Empyrean Temple, as an arrest warrant has been issued in his name.

Even the ‘Constitutional’ Arch-Patriarch, Angelicus III, condemned the use of force against his erstwhile Church, stating

I accept the Constitution of the Clergy because I am a Selucian citizen first, a Hosian second, and an Arch-Patriarch third. But because I am all these things I cannot sit idly by while my Fatherland slips into tyranny. I did not oppose Hosian dictatorship only to see it replaced by a Pagan one. As Arch-Patriarch Quirinus XIII declared, all totalitarianism, whether Hosian, Pagan, or secular, is abhorrent. The Church cannot and will not tolerate the use of force in religious matters.

The sudden shift to violent policies against the Aurorian Patriarchal Church seems to be a direct result of the emergence of several opposition movements against the Duodecemvirate. As the Duodecemvirs have announced that they would not seek a third extension of their mandate, it is likely that they aim to bring the situation to a swift end while they still enjoy a wide degree of political power.

Selucia Celebrates 3000 Years Since Revolution
prid. Kal. Apr. MMCMLXXXVIII a.R.P.c.
(March 31, 4799)

Image
The Altar of the Republic is at the center of the millennial celebration

This year marks the celebration of 3000 years since the start of the Selucian Revolution and the Unification of Selucia. Starting as a local uprising in the small town of Argona in 1799, the Revolution was led by a Pagan and Selucian nationalist urban elite allied with the peasantry, and led to the establishment of the first unified state on the Selucian archipelago, the Selucian Republic. Most of the institutions and political ideals of Selucia derive from the First Republic's experience. But perhaps no regime has ever emulated that first Republic as much as the current.

In honor of the 3000 year anniversary of the Uprising, the Duodecemviri arranged for the passing of a number of constitutional measures that radically alter the political structure of the Republic, establishing a Senate and a Censorship, a dual Consulship, a People's Assembly, and a Tribunate, all closely modeled on the First Republic's precedent. Lastly, but perhaps more importantly, the Duodecemvirate have directly adopted symbolism deriving from their ancient model. The flag, coat of arms, motto, anthem, names of the Provinces, and even the name of the Republic have all been copied from the First Republic.

Image
Idol of Dea Selucia, part of the Altar of the Republic

And it is not just the symbols and political structure of the ancient Republic that the Duodecemvirs seek to revive, but also, seemingly, its religious policies. After having performed the first lustrum in over two millennia, the Duodecemviri arranged for a religious ceremony designed to connect their rule to another regime that consciously tried to revive the glories of the First Republic, the Triariist government. To this end the Duodecemviri had the Altar of the Republic, built by the Triariist regime in MCLXXXI a.R.P.c. (2992 CE) and declared a IESCO Global Heritage Site, reconsecrated as a Pagan temple dedicated to Dea Selucia, Goddess Selucia, the divine personification of the Republic. Although the Duodecemvirs will no longer be in power by year MMM of the Selucian calendar, these celebrations and the constitutional measures implemented by them send the clear signal that their rule is nothing more and nothing less than the restoration of the first Selucian state three thousand years ago.

Bright Dawn, the new left-wing political project in Selucia, is born
The political party, considered the direct heir of In Marea, presents itself as the defending party of the working class against the current ultra-religious and dictatorial drift of the Selucian leaders

Image
Simo Iulius after being elected first President of Bright Dawn

After weeks of rumors after the announcement of the awakening of the IUVIM, today they have launched what will be the new political project that will try to bring together the progressive forces of Selucia.

In a statement released on their social networks, the IUVIM have encouraged everyone who could to congregate in Victoria, the capital of Insularia, to follow the launch of the new party. Those residents outside the island have been encouraged to follow the presentation by videoconference.

After several weeks of violent protests in the streets against the current leaders of Selucia for their authoritarian and undemocratic drift, today did not seem different. However, the announcement early in the morning of the IUVIM, summoning all who could go to the central square of Victoria in the afternoon, has caught many by surprise. However, by the time the IUVIM announcement was about to begin, there was not room for another soul in the square, which was packed with people, most of them carrying the Selucian flag prior to the currently adopted by the current government.

The first thing that Artamo Commidius, general secretary of the IUVIM, has done was to thank everyone present for the effort, and encouraged them to continue maintaining the pressure against the current leaders of the country. It was then that he proceeded with the announcement that everyone was waiting for: the IUVIM are back on the political stage, this time establishing themselves as the youth organization of a new party: Bright Dawn.

The new party, whose full name is Clara Aurora - Coalitio Sinistrae Radicales (Bright Dawn-Radical Left Coalition), abbreviated as COSIRA, aims to unify the progressive vote and discontent, including in its ranks a large number of political activists and personalities with ideologies from social democracy and democratic socialism to communism. After the announcement, in which they have communicated that they are in good shape to stand for the next elections, the well-known philosopher Simo Iulius has been elected as Party President, detained on several occasions during the protests of weeks ago.

Bright Dawn, whose main ideology is defined in its founding statutes as Democratic Socialism, Social Republicanism, Anti-elitism, Secularism and Economic nationalism, will elect in the coming months its secretary general for the next elections, a position that will be up to future party members.

"Today we are launching this party to channel that discontent and that protest against the current dictatorial drift of those who want to lead us," said Mr. Iulius in his first speech as Party President. "We must defend our nation from those who seek to return us to past times, thinking that past times were always better, and we must fight to maintain our current rights and freedoms. We cannot allow ourselves to go back centuries in history, we cannot let our leaders decide for us what is right or wrong. We cannot forget our own history, but neither can we pretend to live in it again. The past has to stay where it is, and trying to return to it is the biggest mistake a person can commit. Selucia has thrived for centuries, and must continue to do so. But looking forward, not back. That is why this party intends to bring these proposals to the House, so that our voices are heard, and we can rebuild what our leaders have set out to destroy. And we think the best way to do that is by embracing progressive ideology, democratic socialism, social republicanism, the defense of our most fundamental rights and freedoms. Ave Cor Patriae, Ave Insularia, Ave Marestella, Ave Occidentria, Ave Oriensos, AVE SELUCIA "

Between shouts and cheers, Mr. Iulius has encouraged citizens to continue maintaining pressure against the current government, before leaving the improvised stage.

Some political analysts already define the new party as a "hard-left protest voice", while others see it as more populist in character, but all of them agree that it can clearly be considered the political heir of In Marea, maintaining the same ideology as this when it was founded almost 8 centuries ago.

Arch-Patriarch Thomas Justus boarding the airplane bound to Ville de Saints

Following the deadline issued to Arch-Patriarch Thomas Justus of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church in March, urging him to leave Selucia within a year, with the threat of lethal force against the Empyrean Temple, the Pontiff acquiesced to the terms imposed by the government and departed today towards the sovereign city-state of Ville de Saints, located at the border between the nations of Kanjor and Rildanor. Sources within the government suggest that a formal agreement between the Republic and the Arch-Patriarchy is imminent, and that the Duodecemviri guaranteed a relaxation of the government's anti-Hosian measures in exchange for the Arch-Patriarch's departure. Although this may seem like a capitulation to a uniquely Pagan Selucian government, the fact is that for the past few centuries Selucia has become an increasingly hostile territory for the Church. In spite of its tremendous symbolic and theological value, the city of Auroria, and Selucia as a whole, is no longer a suitable location for the headquarters of Terra's largest Church. Even if the current government will not remain in power for long, and even if it is replaced by the resurgent progressive movement, chances are a secular government would be just as, if not even more unfriendly towards the Aurorian Church.

OOC: This was discussed with James and he agreed to this RP. He'll post something as well when he's able to.

Selucia to join MEA

After liberalizing Selucia's labor laws and ensuring the compatibility of Selucian legislation with the founding treaty of the Majatran Economic Association, Selucia has formally applied for membership in the free trade agreement. Another consequence of Selucian economic liberalization is that the three main Endralonian corporations, 3M, LTG, and ECA, have all opened branches in Selucia. All three corporations have been involved in a number of scandals so their presence in Selucia is bound to raise some eyebrows. More malicious sources claim that the presence of these companies in Selucia is the price the Selucian government had to pay for the strong backing that the Endralonian government has shown Selucia in the Security Council, although the Duodecimviri deny these claims.

The militancy chooses Naevia Cosmas as a candidate for the general elections
The former actress and lawyer obtains the general secretariat of COSIRA and affirms that she will fight against the reactionary policies of the current government, while assuring that she will resume negotiations with the APC

Image
Naevia Cosmas, newly elected first General Secretary of COSIRA

The Bright Dawn-COSIRA militancy has already spoken out and has elected what will be the party's first general secretary: the actress and trade unionist Naevia Cosmas. The 45-year-old daughter of actors and the granddaughter of trade unionists from the province of Oleria, Naevia Cosmas is known for having starred during her youth in some clashes with the police in student and worker protests, which led to her being arrested on several occasions, although finally no charges were established against her in any case. Later graduated in Law and Philosophy, she has been the protagonist of several blockbusters such as "Special Agent 12" or "The War of Hell", which nominated her on several occasions for international awards. Now, after the emergence of COSIRA, she decided to put all her projects aside and focus on her campaign to lead the party, as it has finally been. With 71% of the votes, she has emphatically prevailed over the other three candidates who aspired to become the first general secretary of the party heir to In Marea.

In her first speech to the militancy after her victory was announced, Mrs. Cosmas has promised to bring the necessary change for Selucia if she wins the elections.

"Thank you very much to all who have participated in this democratic process to elect the Secretary General of COSIRA. This was an important step to definitively establish ourselves as a political force that can confront the reactionary and ultra-conservative policies of our current political leaders, and I am going to do everything in my power to make it so. "

"If I have learned something over the years it has been to fight for my own convictions, to defend them fervently and above all, to fight for those who are oppressed or who cannot fend for themselves to defend themselves. And that is why I presented myself as candidate for this position. "

Mrs. Cosmas, who some political analysts consider aligned with the more radical left, has also spoken out on the main issue that makes international headlines, the conflict with the APC, and has announced that, if she comes to power, she "will not will unleash any religion in Selucia. "

"We condemn the frontal attack that is being committed against certain religions in our nation, but we do not consider that the idea is wrong. If COSIRA reaches power, we will take up the idea of endowing the APC with its own autonomous territory if it continues in Selucia, starting from the point at which it was negotiated with In Marea at the time. However, the important point is that the other religions in Selucia will not be discriminated against. Everyone should be free to follow whatever religion they consider, regardless of detriment to their way of collaborating with the State and with the other citizens that comprise it. Religions, and those who lead them, should not have any privilege for the mere fact of being, but all their rights must be equated with the same with the others. You cannot give advantages or disadvantages to some religions over others. And that is what we will do if the citizenship gives us the opportunity. "

The already candidate to lead the Selucian government in the next elections has also spoken about regaining control of the State over numerous industries, as well as recovering the social rights repressed by current political leaders, such as sex reassignment surgery.

Image
First session of the new Senate

One of the main powers of the Duodecemvirate, which was granted to them at the renewal of their mandate, is the appointment of members to a new Senate of Selucia. Until now the Duodecemvirs have avoided discharging this function given that most of their efforts were occupied with the conflict with the Chrurch. But now that the conflict has been resolved, the Duodecemvirate has appointed the first members to the new Senate. Historically the Selucian Senate was not a legislative assembly, but an advisory council formed, at first, of members of the aristocracy, and later of former magistrates, with the power to advise and control the actions of the executive. As part of their program of Restitutio Rei Publicae (Restoration of the Republic), the Duodecemvirate decided to restore the Senate to its historic powers and functions as the embodiment of auctoritas patrum, the moral authority of the elders. Following the provisions of the Mummian Law, the Duodecemvirs discharged the Censorial powers granted to them and appointed one hundred members to the new Senate. The new Senators include prominent leaders of the anti-Hosian protests that bought the Duodecimvirs to power nearly ten years ago, as well as major religious figures in Selucia, including the Pontifex Maximus and the Flamen Solaris (the priest of Sol Lucidus) of Religio Seluciana, the Arch-Patriarch of the breakaway "constitutionalist" Church Angelicus III, the Chairman of the Union of Ahmadi Communities in Selucia, and even several high-ranking bishops of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church. Lacking a suitable meeting place in the relatively small city of Argona, the first session of the new Senate was held in the Temple of Hiatus (OOC: Janus), the largest building in Argona, following ancient precedent whereby Senate sessions would be held in temples.

Constituent Assembly Deputies Found Party
a.d. XIII Kal. Dec. MMCMXC a.R.P.c.

Image
Euthymia Bellona is one of the founders and leaders of the new party

As the opposition to the Duodecimvirate and its religious policies mounts, the supporters of the government, believing that the policies they support are under threat, have bounded together to found a new political party. This month several deputies serving in the People's Constituent Assembly have initiated the legal procedures for the establishment of the "Selucian Traditional Movement", a conservative and traditionalist party dedicated to the preservation of mos maiorum (ancestral custom) and the defense of the political system established by the Duodecemvirs. Although political parties were barred from participating in the election for the Constituent Assembly, there is no ban on the formation of new political parties by those already elected to the Assembly. Given the widespread boycott that marked the Assembly elections, the vast majority of deputies chose to join the new party, led by several prominent members, including Euthymia Bellona, Faustinus Pamphilus, and Tacitus Spurius Laurentius, all noteworthy supporters of the Duodecemvirate.

None of the Duodecemvirs decided to join the new party, wishing perhaps to maintain the fiction that they are somehow above politics and dedicated only to the wellbeing of the Republic. However, Imperator Heliodorus Vibianus, probably the most well known of the Duodecemvirs, has agreed to the Movement's request to become its candidate to the office of Censor, the only executive magistrature that, under the new constitutional settlement, is elected directly by the populace. Although he refused to join the new political party, Imperator Vibianus is counting on its support and that of citizens favorable to the policies of the Duodecimvirate to elect him to the Censorate, pledging to maintain the Senators appointed by the Duodecemvirs last month and to rule as an impartial and fair Censor.

The creation of the Selucian Traditional Movement is a reaction to the crystallization of a progressive and secular opposition to the current government around the new left-wing force COSIRA, claiming for itself the heritage of the defunct In Marea political party. Its proclaimed desire to establish an autonomous territory for the Aurorian Patriarchal Church has taken many by surprise, and seems to have been a prime catalyst behind the formation of a pro-Duodecemvirate political party. Euthymia Bellona, one of the founders of the new party, was heard saying that "only in Selucia will secularists try to create an autonomous theocracy for the Church, and only here will Hosian fanatics masquerade as secularists", a statement she later retracted when prompted by a reporter.

Society calls for change: the left triumphs in the constituent elections
COSIRA becomes the most voted force and conquers the Censorship and two of the five regional governments; the MTS sinks

Image
Naevia Cosmas celebrating the electoral success

After months of massive mobilizations in the streets of Selucia, calling for an end to what the protesters considered "a soft and covert dictatorship" and for an end to the "conservative and ultra-religious" policies applied by the Duodecimviri, the first constituent elections to elect those who will be the first deputies of the 11th Republic, as well as the Procurators - regional governors - and a varied number of political positions have produced a clear winner: Bright Dawn-COSIRA. The left-wing party, political heir to In Marea and founded a few years ago with the intention of standing in these elections to put an end to the overly conservative policies that, in their opinion, the Duodecimviri was applying and that did not imply a great change with the previous Hosian dictatorship has won a landslide victory in this election by garnering more than 45% of the vote. Almost 24 million citizens have decided to take the COSIRA ballot to request a change in Selucia's policies, which has increased participation from just 15% in the previous elections to almost 70% in these. In second place was the Selucian Liberal New Party, which has obtained just over 40% of the votes, and far behind, with just 14% of the votes, has finished the Selucian Traditional Movement, a party founded to defend the policies carried out by the Duodecimviri. In addition, COSIRA has also taken over the position of Censor of Selucia, after the President of the party Simo Iulius won almost 30 million votes and defeated the NPLS candidate Lucius Verus Corvolexus in the second round.

After the election results were known, Secretary General Naevia Cosmas appeared at a press conference with a radiant smile, surrounded by party members cheering "Cosmas for Consul".

"First of all"
said Mrs. Cosmas, visibly moved
"I want to thank all those who have made this victory possible. It has been shown that the protests were justified, that the demonstrations were necessary, and that the Selucian society wanted a change. And that is why we are here, victorious in the elections. We have achieved the post of Censor, two of the five regional governments and be the largest parliamentary group in the assembly. And all this thanks to you, who you have trusted us to carry out the progressive policies that we believe need to be carried out in our nation."

Mrs. Cosmas has remarked that, if she succeeds in forming a government, her priority will be to return the civil rights taken from the citizens under the name of religion and the negotiation with the Aurorian Patriarchal Church to bring it back to Selucia under a new city-state.

Government formation

Despite the great results, COSIRA - and subsequently no other party - has reached the absolute majority required to rule alone and therefore, pacts will be needed to stablish a new government. COSIRA officials consulted by this newspaper has declared that the party is already in talks with the NPLS, and that the party is considering three possible scenarios:

-The first one would be a minority government composed only by COSIRA members, receiving the support in the investiture session of the NPLS, after compromise to carry out some previously agreed proposals.
-The second one would be a majority coalition government between COSIRA and the NPLS. Although this option does not satisfy the most progressist wing of the party, it would grant a stable cabinet to the nation.
-If no agreement can be reached with the NPLS, COSIRA officials agree that no agreement would be made with the MTS. COSIRA officials say that it would be an incongruence to reach any agreement to the main supporter of the policies applied by the Duodecimviri when they had campaigned totally against it, and therefore it would make no sense at all to agree with the MTS. Therefore, COSIRA would be placed in the opposition if an agreement between the NPLS and the MTS is made.

Regional procurators

In the regional headquarters of COSIRA, joy also fulfilled the space. Although in all the regions the party reached more than 20% of the vote (34% Sadaria Occidentalis and Sadaria Orientalis, 25% Calatia), it is in Oleria and Corgana where joy exploded after knowing the results: COSIRA won there the Procuratorships with an absolute majority in both regions: 59% in Corgana and an impressive 70% in Oleria.

ImageImage
Agorastocles Proceus and Ateia Polybius, elected first Procurators of Oleria and Corgana

Oleria (formerly known as Insularia):

In that region, it seems like the general population hasn't forgotten about the contribution of In Marea-Insularia Sinistram to the development of the region. With more than 8 million votes and a 70%, the regional secretary of the party, Agorastocles Proceus, has been elected first Procurator of Oleria. Mr. Proceus, who belongs to the communist branch of the party, campaigned hard against the Duodecimviri and was detained in several occasions during the protests for conflicts. Thanks to the assignment of certain duties to the regional governments, he has compromised to continue developing the autonomy of Oleria.

Corgana (formerly known as Marestella):

A region historically unaccustomed to progressive governments, Corgana's result surprised locals and others, but was well received at the party's regional headquarters. Now, Ateia Polybius, the new Procurator of the region, will fight to make policies during these five years that allow her to renew her mandate in the following elections, demonstrating that what the region needs are progressive policies.
The victory of COSIRA in Corgana has also a symbolic meaning, as its capital city, Auroria, is where the Empyrean Temple, the former seat of the Arch-Patriarch of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church until the conflict between it and Selucia arose, is located. Talking to the press, Mrs. Polybius said that she believes that her victory emphasize the opinion of Corganan citizens on the issue, and claimed for a soon return of conversations between the Aurorian Patriarchal Church and the Selucian government to develop the economy of the region.

After these elections, it remains to be seen which government ends up leaving this parliamentary composition, and after that, if for the following elections the opinion of the citizens undergoes any change.

Government agreement between COSIRA and the NPLS
The left cedes to the liberals the posts of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Tourism but ensures control of the executive; Naevia Cosmas announces a partial reform of the laws approved by the Duodecimviri

Image
Naevia Cosmas and Callipho Crispus, prospective Consuls of Selucia

This morning it was announced to the media that the negotiations between the NPLS and COSIRA have come to fruition and both parties have reached an agreement to form a coalition government that will take the course of the country for this first legislature. As has been learned, the Liberals will take over 5 of the 12 ministries, among which are Foreign Affairs and Justice, while Cosira takes over the remaining 7 in addition to appointing the two Consulates of the nation. One of his names, that of Naevia Cosmas, is beyond doubt. Although there is no official confirmation, the name that is in all the pools for the other position of Consul is that of Callipho Crispus, Cosmas's right hand and former union leader.

After the agreement was made public, and awaiting its vote at the People's Assembly, Naevia Cosmas has said he feels "hopeful" for the new future that opens up to citizens.

"Who was going to tell us two or three years ago that we would win the elections and that we would have the possibility of forming a government to change our nation in the way that citizens need. When we started with the protests, we did not know where we were going to end. And now It seems we already know it: ruling this great nation. I have no words to express the gratitude I feel to all those who have trusted us, and to those who have not, I promise that I will work hard to earn their trust. "

Mrs. Cosmas, however, has not hesitated to warn that if the government, for its part, is not capable of passing some laws that it considers "fundamental and necessary", it will not hesitate to press the electoral button and summon the citizens again. to the polls to have their say again.

Above all, Mrs. Cosmas has referred to the laws that in her opinion are discriminatory for religious reasons and sexual orientation, something that she considers "an aberration" in the middle of the 49th century, and has made clear her intention to end the past path religious undertaken by the Duodecimviri, as well as with the intention of these to emulate the First Republic.

"The First Republic, the Selucian Empire, has passed, and will not return. We must be aware of that. And to return to the present, we must retake everyone's flag, the one that has represented our nation for so long, and not the one that It has only done so during a specific time in our history. Furthermore, it is time to end the religious dominance in our nation, neither on the one hand nor on the other. Everyone is free to profess the religion with which they most identify , but this cannot condition the development of citizenship as a group. "

Thus, Mrs. Cosmas has announced that when she reaches the position of Consul, she will send a letter to the Arch-Patriarch of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church to resume the talks on the possibility of a city-state in the Empyrean Temple, as long as the agreement is accepted. reintegration of the excommunicated members, as well as the social difference of those who make up the church in Selucia and allowing women to continue being part of the institution. Mrs. Cosmas has also announced that she will repeal the calendar law approved by the Duodecimviri, considering it "nonsense". She also expressed her intention to restablish the capital city in Aurora, the oldest city of the nation, to end with the nonsensical movement of the capital to another city just because of "political benefits".

"The Aurorian Church must come back to where it never should have departed"
We spoke with the Procurator of Corgana, Ateia Polybius, who supports the idea of the APC returning to Auroria

she refuses to refer to it as "Aurorian Patriarchal Church" as a machist name, and prefers to speak of it as "Aurorian Church" or simply "the Church". However, the new Procurator of Corgana, Ateia Polybius, defends that it must return to its headquarters in Auroria, the capital of the region. We spoke with her about this.

Interviewer: You have been, before getting into politics, a lawyer. How have you seen and how do you assess the whole issue surrounding the conflict between Selucia and the Aurorian Patriarchal Church?

Ateia Polybius: It is true, and that must always be borne in mind, that we defend a full separation between the State and religion. Now, we cannot forget that 42% of the population of Selucia declares themselves as "Aurorian", followers of this religion. It is an important fact, especially to take into account since the followers of the Religio Seluciana, a religion that the Duodecimviri has dedicated itself during its years of mandate to force us to live, do not even reach half, being 20% of the population of our nation. Does this mean that the APC should have more rights or privileges than Religio Seluciana? Well not at all. Both religions must be treated equally, but from the State they must be treated with respect but without allowing them to influence the democratic mechanism. The fact of justifying the existence of a previous Hosian dictatorship to expel a religion of which almost 1 in 2 Selucians is part, to later replace it with another religion, which also has a minority adherence, is shameful, and has no justification .

I: How do you assess the impact for Corgana, and for Auroria in particular, the march of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church from Selucia?

A.P: I don't like referring to him as "Patriarchal", although I know its official name is like that. Something that I do value positively is the fact that here in Selucia we have managed to ordain women as members of the clergy in a society as machist as that religion is. However, it is true that I cannot make a positive assessment of its departure, because as Procurator, I have to look for the benefit of my citizens, and the impact, not only social or cultural, but also economic, is enormous. For many centuries the pilgrimage to the APC world headquarters in Auroria has allowed the city, and even the region, to have the necessary income to improve the lives of all the citizens of Corgana, income that now that is lacking, it is noticeable. That is why I am in favor of its returning to our country, under certain conditions. If you don't want to accept them, then goodbye.

I: And what are those conditions that you speak of?

AP: Well, from COSIRA we have never hidden that our final idea is the founding of a city-state that includes the Empyrean Temple and its surroundings, that is independent and whose protection is in charge of the security forces of Corgana, while this city -State pay some taxes to the region. In addition, we consider that it would be necessary to accept again all the clergy that were excommunicated during the Duodecimviri mandate, a kind of religious amnesty, as well as accepting that Selucia has ordained women priestesses and allows them to exercise their work within and outside our borders. With these conditions, everything else is a matter of dialogue and the desire to move forward.

Euthymia Bellona: "We Must Eradicate Monotheism"
a.d. III Kal. Nov. MMCMXCII a.R.P.c.
(October 30, 4803)

Euthymia Bellona is the chair and most visible member of the Selucian Traditional Movement

The November MMCMXCI a.R.P.c. elections proved to be a disaster for the newly-formed Selucian Traditional Movement, established with the specific aim of continuing the policies of the Duodecemvirate. Although the left-wing opposition COSIRA did not win an absolute majority, talks are currently under way for a COSIRA coalition with the center-right liberal New Party for the Liberty of Selucia.

As coalition talks are underway, Ephemeris Seluciana has conducted an extensive interview with the leader of the Selucian Traditional Movement, Euthymia Bellona. You can watch the full 2h 32min interview here. Below are excerpts from the interview:

When asked why she thought the Selucian Traditional Movement lost the MMCMXCI elections, Bellona responded that
I think the Duodecemviri did not go far enough. They backed down when they had the opportunity to crush the Aurorian Church when it was weak, and they didn't. They should have suspended the right to vote from Hosians opposed to the Constitution of the Clergy, but they didn't. So now of course the fanatics voted for the first party promising them a theocracy. We could have been done with this superstitious cult once and for all, but instead the Duodecemvirate let them stay on. Just a few years down the line the fanatics will inevitably do what they do best, destroy democracy and the Republic and impose their bullshit views on a society that wants nothing to do with them.

Questioned about her opponent Naevia Cosmas and the fact that several Pagan groups campaigned against her due to her starring as Goddess Mentia in the film Gods of the New Era, Bellona instead indicated her admiration for Ms. Cosmas and criticized those who opposed her on religious grounds:

In the polytheistic community we have this problem, that many of us come from monotheistic or atheistic backgrounds and we've lived as minority religions in a monotheistic world for thousands of years, so naturally many of us have adopted alien ways of thinking. Monotheists go with the assumption that only their god is real and all others are false, a mental habit which, unfortunately, many Cultores have adopted as well. When we say that only our Gods are real and the others are just aspects of Them, or even non-existent, we replicate exclusionary monotheistic patterns. We do worse when we call anyone a heretic. There is no heresy in the Religio because there is no orthodoxy in the Religio, our relationship with our Gods, Spirits, and Ancestors is based on reciprocity, not on belief! We are not a creedal religion, and anyone who treats it as one has been infected by the virus of monotheism. We must eradicate monotheism from the Religio if it can become a truly liberating, democratic, and republican path to the Gods, and not just another bullshit patriarchal, misogynistic, and homophobic cult like the Patriarchal Church. I actually have a lot of respect for Naevia Cosmas, and I even credit her and her role in "Gods [of the New Era]" for bringing me on the path to the Gods. It was extremely brave of her to act in such a movie under the Hosian dictatorship, and the fact that she now openly associates herself with the very people that just yesterday had reduced us to the rank of second-class citizens just breaks my heart.

Asked about the decision of the new government to offer a city-state of the Aurorian Church in Auroria, Euthymia Bellona was indignant:

This is absolutely insane! How on Terra can a so-called "secular" government offer a theocracy on the sovereign territory of the Selucian people? How the [expletive removed] can they claim to respect all religions equally, and at the same time give the [expletive removed] Aurorians their own little theocratic kingdom, something no other religion has? If they do that, then we will demand the same for the Cultus Deorum! We will demand the rest of Selucia as the sovereign territory of our Gods! If they think that's undemocratic and absurd, then they should look in the [expletive removed] mirror before suggesting such idiocies.
