Bozujitmdek! Gracious King Temrkai VI passes away
     19 April 5400

     Image
The funeral procession of the late King was led by the noble Wrntuhiko Mustav Hizdrüz, who emphasized the love His Majesty had for the people.

All the Kingdom mourns as they learn of the great bozujitmdek (tragedy) that has occurred. The gracious monarch of the nation, King Temrkai VI, has passed away after a short but severe illness. His Majesty was 85 years old and remained strong and clear until his final illness. The reign of one of Wrnuke's greatest monarchs began in 5344 and the King was at the forefront of the entry of the Wise Council into the form of government that all of the nation now enjoys. Decades of peace and prosperity have been guaranteed and were made possible by this forward-thinking monarch. His personal involvement in the Kingdom's economy has brought wealth back into the coffers, assuring no Wrnukaékai has to live in hunger and poverty. As part of the King's last will and testament an extra grant of ten million marks was given to orphanages across the nation.

The life of the King was not without tragedy. His own death was preceded by that of his eldest son, the Archduke Juhn, in 5389. His beloved Queen-consort passed away in 5378, struck down in her prime by a tragic accident. Nonetheless the King was never discouraged and personally vowed to dedicate his remaining years to the nation. As a part of this he sought out a fitting heir to the lion's throne, as his second son Wrntukai also refused the honour of being named Archduke of Banstill. A new Archduke was never named, yet the King grew a personal bond with Duke Lazr of Merlkaitak - a cousin through the paternal line. Upon his deathbed the King signed an amendment to his last will and testament, designating Duke Lazr as his preferred heir. The Wise Council, in deep respect to the late King, confirmed the choice. For now however the nation will sit in mourning for the next week, to contemplate the memory of a great monarch that was gone too soon.

Oskyu! Wrnuke takes lead on Majatran oil pipeline
     2 September 5400

     Image
Workers reinforcing one of the older Petrovan main pipelines near Prnznrd, in wake of the Kafuri sanctions domestic oil production has soared.

Almost ninety years ago the ambitious leaders of Jakania and Cobura attempted to forge a Majatran pipeline. In 5313 the Jakanian prime minister Turgut Atalar already stated the importance of this after Trigunia showed itself to be an untrustworthy partner. The pipeline connected Jakania and Cobura but the greater Majatran dream of Atalar never came to be. Today in a special press conference with foreign press the Wrntuhiko Mustav Hizdrüz commended the efforts of Atalar, calling him a "pan-Jelbic brother" and a "Jez Kai" (Great Man). Hizdrüz further remarked that due to the recent developments in Kafuristan and the hostile nature in the North not much be expected of the rest of the world. "Yet in Majatra we are surrounded by friends, brotherly nations, and those with the prospects of returning to our inner circle." The Wrntuhiko has given the green light to the state officials to prepare for the full normalization of relations with Beiteynu. "Wrongs of the past can be forgiven, especially when friends are required to defeat the wrongs of today," said the Wrntuhiko in his great wisdom about the change of course. The actions of the first Wrntuhiko Küntr Lahm have not been condemned, as the new Wrntuhiko emphasized that the "founder of modern Wrnuke" acted in "a search for truth and justice".

The positive messages regarding relations with Beiteynu have been met with welcoming signals from both Vascania and Beiteynu, where nations are preparing to expand their oil industry. Domestic oil production has, since the Kafuri embargo, also been expanded. While the Beiteynuese currently seem to focus on mostly shipping oil globally the Wrntuhiko and the Wise Council wish to create a greater emphasize on production within Majatra. "Along our rich coast there are many oil reserves, in beautiful Gol Mjtre (Lake Majatra) there is still much of this black blood to be extracted." The Wrntuhiko has called upon the executives of Wrnuke's state company Petrovan to prepare for an expanded oil industry. The Wrntuhiko described his personal vision as a pipeline that covers all of western Majatra. "From one sea to another, from south to north, as the sun rises so will the oil flow." Yet these great ambitions must first make place for smaller steps, Petrovan's published plans call for a pipeline from Baofluz to Yishelem with Wrnuke as the central key where all the oil from Lake Majatra can come together. Ideally Petrovan calls for the cooperation of all nations surrounding Lake Majatra but this may be too ambitious with the contentious relationships across Majatra. For now the plans focus on Wrnuke's brotherly nation and friend Jelbe, the isolationist half-brother Brmestan and future partner Beiteynu.

Knstutrmogad! Wiel and Yishelem lay aside differences, pledge cooperation
     2 December 5401

Wrntuhiko Hizdrüz (right) and minister Zhtál (centre) in conversation with a member of the Beiteynuese delegation prior to the meeting.

After the decades of tension between the states of Wrnuke and Beiteynu it came as a surprise to the world that the Wrntuhiko Mustav Hizdrüz announced he was seeking to re-establish relations with Yishelem almost two years ago. Now this historic turnaround has happened as a delegation from Beiteynu led by Prime Minister Eliana Amira has come to Wiel to accept the olive branch extended by the Kingdom. In the end the re-establishing of diplomatic ties between the nations covered only a small part of the meeting. Past slights were soon forgotten as PM Amira and the Wrntuhiko got along swimmingly. In turn a greater focus was put on future cooperation, with Beiteynu pledging to join Wrnuke's oil pipeline initiative that has now been dubbed Jez Mitoé Mjtrék Oskyup'íl (Great Western Majatran Pipeline) or JMMO by the developing party at Petrovan. The pipeline will be seen as an extension of the existing Vamaj treaty, which has several benefits for Wrnuke and Jelbe as Beiteynu has pledged to finance a substantial part of the construction of the new pipeline. With both Wrnuke and Beiteynu being the main financiers the two nations hope that finding further cooperation from other nations will be easier.

The Wrntuhiko has lauded the Beiteynuese delegation as "exemplary guests" and reiterated his personal belief that the Yeudi peoples and the Jelbic peoples have a common ancestor. "You can tell from their fierce spirits, independence, and ingenuity that they share our blood," said the Wrntuhiko. After the initial meeting the Beiteynuese delegation was introduced to the board of directors of Petrovan, Wrnuke's state-owned oil company. On international scale Petrovan is only a small player, yet it has the majority share of oil exploits within Wrnuke where it mostly focuses on the oil deposits along the coast. With the new pipeline Petrovan, and its subsidiary Petrovan Jelbe, will become bigger players in the lucrative oil business. The government has stated this will open up job opportunities throughout the entire Jelbosphere. After the conclusion of the meeting between the two delegations the Ministry of National Defence was also able to confirm that there are plans for tighter military cooperation between Beiteynu and Wrnuke: "It is the hope of both governments that this friendship will flourish and develop into one of deeper understanding and cooperation, to one day bloom into a full alliance," said an official spokesperson.
