Vanuku downplays rebellion threat
"Volk en Vrijheid not terrorists" says chancellor

The grand chancellor of Vanuku, Andy van Heilvijk, has downplayed suggestions that an opposition party led rebellion has surfaced in Vanuku. Ousted dictator Cornelis van Zanten earlier today called on the international community to "aid the fight against Christian extremism". however Van Heilvijk, who denies being part of a Christian extremist group, has called for calm.

"I do not believe for one minute that Volk en Vrijheid pose a threat to Vanuku, and I would like to calm any fears that the party is transforming into any kind of terrorist organisation or rebbelion. The country is in a state of repair, and the fact is Mr Van Zanten does not agree with some of our neccessary policies".

The grand chancellor went on to say that "Mr Van Zanten is fully entitled to his own opinion, however the fact of the matter is, the people wamted change. He can either get back into the legislative process, or leave us to carry on repairing Vanuku. His party are not terrorists".

Volk en Vrijheid wins election in stunning victory!
Cornelis van Zanten once again Grand Chancellor of Vanuku.

Wiel, Verhmalen - In a very close victory the Volk en Vrijheid party has won the national elections in Vanuku, receiving 54% of the votes. After the last few tense years many Vanukuian citizens developed a political opinion, this is very clear in the turn up at the elections which stands at an impressive 55 million people. This means that almost 75% of people who are allowed to vote have voted. The Grand Council of the Vanukuian Reich is now almost separated in half, the V&V holds 277 seats and the NVP holds 223 seats. The elections passed rather quietly, there where only few riots and those where disposed by the standing police force. Before the elections both parties sued for peaceful elections and it shows that the people listen to their political leaders.

The election for the office of Grand Chancellor was also held, this was won by Cornelis van Zanten of Volk en Vrijheid who has previously served a full term as Grand Chancellor. He won with almost 54% of the votes, another close call just like the Grand Council elections. The re-appointed Grand Chancellor immediately speeched to his supporters promising the returning of civil liberties of Vanuku, he has also immediately ordered the freeing of homosexual citizens which where held captive in so-called correctional facilities. The Grand Chancellor also thanked the people for their support, stating he was glad to see a national uprising against Christian-extremism and abolishment of civil rights.

Grand Chancellor announces coalition government.
A sign of unity in Vanukuian politics?

Wiel, Verhamelen - Grand Chancellor Cornelis van Zanten today announced the new cabinet to assist him in ruling Vanuku. The choice of ministers came as a huge surprise to many people around the nation as 5 of the 12 positions are filled by Nationale Vrijheidspartij politicians, the opponents of the V&V. Van Zanten said that he had thoroughly discussed this with both his party and the NVP and that both sides agreed that to stand united would be the best way to serve Vanuku. He also announced that both parties will have to make sacrifices in their bills and acts to satisfy both sides of the Vanukuian political spectrum. Within the nation most people react happy, glad to know that both parties rule the nation together after the Grand Council was almost split in half. There are however people that are angry because their party sided with their nemesis but both party leaders assured that no bills under this government shall pass without being thoroughly discussed by both parties.

Vanuku mobilizes Armed Forces.
Nation afraid of threat in the south.

Wiel, Verhamelen - Grand Chancellor Cornelis van Zanten has put forward a proposal to mobilize the Armed Forces in response to the arms race two nations are having south of Vanuku. The nations of Jelbania and Deltaria are on the edge of war. Jelbania is violating international laws and openly plotting to murder the head of state of the nation of Deltaria. The proposal was supported unanimously in the Vanukuian legislature, the Grand Council. In response to the hot situation in the south, Vanukuian soldiers are now on standby. Several divisions are on the border, patrolling and surveying. The Vanukuian navy has also sallied out to patrol coastal waters. Grand Chancellor van Zanten has stated that Vanuku is currently not planning to declare war on it's southern neighbour. He does however ask both nations to stop this madness. There are rumours that the Vanukuian government has attempted to contact the Deltarian government but the Grand Chancellor currently gives no comment on that.

Grand Chancellor and his ministers resign, Volk en Vrijheid declared inactive.
Sudden leave of office remains mystery.

Wiel, Verhamelen - Grand Chancellor Cornelis van Zanten and the ministers affiliated to the Volk en Vrijheid party have announced that they resign from their positions. This sudden move surprises all of Vanuku, especially as the Grand Chancellor has only just mobilized the armed forces against the Jelbanian threat in the south. The Chancellor has announced he will return to national politics in a few years. On the very same day the Volk en Vrijheid party was also declared inactive, the official explanation for this is that the party needs a few years for restructuring and therefore leaves national politics for the upcoming years. The Grand Chancellor also said that he trusts upon the Nationale Vrijheidspartij to guide the nation in his absence. Rumours say the Chancellor will leave the nation, where or why he is going is not known.

Volk en Vrijheid wins with stunning majority and supports Andy van Heilvijk.
Cornelis van Zanten lets Andy van Heilvijk remain Grand Chancellor.

Wiel, Verhamelen - The national elections of 3224 where won by Volk en Vrijheid in a stunning victory, resulting in a 84.4% majority. After the party re-entered national politics they requested new elections, the Grand Chancellor Andy van Heilvijk gave permission for this and the turn out for the Nationale Vrijheidspartij looks bleak. The NVP managed to grab only 82 of the 500 seats. The V&V now has a 418 seat majority. The two parties immediately agreed to re-instate the 3218 cabinet while keeping Andy van Heilvijk as Grand Chancellor. Many people expected Cornelis van Zanten to run for Grand Chancellor but he did not. Official comments state that mister Van Zanten is currently spending more time with his family after many busy years. However it is widely known that Van Zanten pulls the strings within the Volk en Vrijheid party as well as within the cabinet. Rumours also say that the long standing opponents Van Heilvijk and Van Zanten have become good friends in the last few years. According to a anonymous high ranking government official the two parties will co-operate for as long as both gentlemen hold vital positions within their parties. The once divided Vanukuian politics seem to have disappeared, the nation is now once again prosperous.

Violent conflicts ahead

Inspired by the now dissolved Biocentric Party in Mordusia, the Animal Liberation Front seeks to establish a new state in the anarchic nation of Vanuku. Opposers are arming themselves to protect their lifestyle. A futile effort, according to all predictions.

Monarchist party joins regional politics.
A new party striving for a monarchy.

Wiel, Verhamelen - Today, the 16th of June 3289, a new party announced to join local politics to fight for a monarchy in Vanuku. The Imperial Union will fight for the establishment of a constitutional monarchy wherein Vanuku will be led by a Emperor of unified Vanukuian regions. Meanwhile democracy and political freedom decide what happens to Vanuku through the popular vote of the people. In the opinion of the Imperial Union it is only just to appoint a monarch, for the nobility has led Vanuku to greatness and unification in it's long history. The party has not yet announced who they will put forward to be a candidate for the position of Emperor, party officials say their researchers are still deciding over who is the legitimate heir to the throne of Vanuku for it has been over 1,000 years since Vanuku has last had a monarch. Only few remember the short rule of Charles Vahamas, whether the ancestors of Charles are still alive is unknown. The party is also looking for the ancestor of Merulf the Conqueror, the first person to unify a part of Vanuku under one banner.

But the party stated that their first priority was to get their message out in regional politics. The party's main point is of course the establishment of a monarchy in Vanuku. Other important points are devolution of the centralization, the regions of Vanuku and their citizens can decide on most matters. And their great value for social liberty which the party greatly promotes, they further believe in secularity as religions should not enforce itself upon the populace. The party also thinks Vanuku should become more active internationally and do more than just warmonger and follow organizations like weak sheep. The views on the military are simple; Vanuku needs a strong standing defence force to protect and serve. The Imperial Union said it hopes to be active in national politics very soon.

Vanuku critical on Barmenia; Respect sovereignty of other nations.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, mr. Peter van Egmont, has criticized the Barmenian government for their blatant disrespect for the sovereignty of both Beiteynu and Pontesi. Mr. van Egmont was quoted saying that; "The government of Barmenia must learn and understand that they are in no position to make demands and threats on the sovereign states that border their nation. Vanuku believes that it is the right of the people of Beiteynu and Pontesi to choose if they want to be ruled by a monarch or by a democraticaly elected leader. Our nation, itself a republican democracy and member of the Alliance of Terran Republics, respects that the Beiteynuese people have chosen a monarch as their ruler, although we, as republicans, had hoped other wise. We hope that Barmenia learns to respects the wishes of their neighbours, although we do not expect the heathen cat worshippers to do so."
- It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them; if double, be able to divide them; if equal, engage them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.
