Hirinis Seek Restoration
October 21, 3845

The head of the House of Hirini, Shahzade Balash Hirini has announced that he and his allies in the monarchist, religious and anti-socialist circles have put together a candidate list for the 3846 elections. This has come after six months of negotiations at the Hirinid estate in Vafatshahr. The 44 year old Shahzade said that the alliance was united on one priority - restoring monarchy in order to 'vanquish the dark demon that is socialism once and for all'. He said only monarchy could restore Aldegar to her place as a feared and admired nation in Terra.

The Hirinids briefly reigned in the 3540's before being ousted by a republican uprising. The Shahzade said, "we have learnt our lesson on how the nation would wish to be governed and the old way is not the way." Three centuries later, they are the only one of Aldegar's many dynasties organised enough to take a stab at regaining the throne. The House now boasts more than 700 members, the Shahzade himself having 8 sons and 15 daughters by his wife and four concubines.

The President-Prince
May 3, 3849

Image
'President-Prince' Hirini

The elections of October 3848 have left Shahzade(Prince) Balash Hirini in an unusual position. His quest to abolish the Sixth Republic has left him that very Republic's elected chief executive. The new President was narrowly elected to office and his allies won a majority in the legislature as well. Hirini has taken up his new role energetically and has moved to strengthen and broaden his political coalition.

The President-Prince has stole the socialists' clothes and has targeted the working class with a 'socially conscious' budget which has seen record spending increases in areas such as health and education. For conservatives, a 15% increase in the defence budget should help alleviate any distress over a relatively sharp increase in taxation. Even liberals themselves have applauded the President's decision to stack his Cabinet with technocrats, not the 'fire stirring reactionaries and inbred nobles' that the liberals anticipated. All this is part of the goal to a constitutional majority at the next election, a goal which the President-Prince himself described as 'daunting'.

Aldegar Protests Embassy 'Scandal'
June 25, 3850

Ambassador Mirza Nejad (right) presenting the note of protest

Aldegar's Ambassador to the Res Publica Selucia Mirza Shapur Nejad delivered a note of protest to the Selucian Senate over the feminist embassy protests which degenerated to desecration of posters bearing the President-Prince Balash Hirini. The Ambassador called the episode a 'scandal' and demanded that Selucia prosecute those who took part in the protest. Aldegar however did not stress the issue too much, even offering a 25 million LOD aid package to the victims of Hurricane Martina in the Selucian province of Sadaria Argonensis. This is part of the 'reassertion movement' in Aldegar where the Hirinis are attempting to restore Aldegar's ancient status as a world power.

Hirinids Restored
January 4, 3853

After seven years’ work, the House of Hirini has finally attained its goal - the restoration of the monarchy. Hirinid Patriarch and former President Shahzade Balash Hirini was crowned Balash II Shah by Mirza Yazdegard Dastjerdi, the most senior noble in the Aldegarian Wuzurgan (nobility).

The National Hirinid League won nearly 90% of seats in widely disputed elections, with many accusing the League of stuffing ballots especially in its southern strongholds where the opposition won very few seats. Shah Balash II is moving swiftly to consolidate his power and has already proclaimed his intentions to rule as an autocrat in order to ensure uniform development and the end of corrupt party politics. In his first Firman (Decree) the Shah ordered all public agencies to refer all issues to him, no matter how minor.

The nation is split, in the north, the autocratic monarchy is fiercely rejected while the south embraces it with equal ferocity. The north appears resigned to their fate. Recognising the part played by the fire priests, the Shah has declared that the Book of Truth, the Yazdean holy book is to be the main source of law for the new Shahdom.

The Fall of the Socialist Republic
and the Rise of a new Shah?

After a long time of anarchy and chaos, the Aldegarian Socialist Republic, is finally down. No government officials are to be found of the old regime, and new political powers begin to wrestle for the control of our glorious nation. One of them, calling themselves The Shah's Chosen, a mix of highborn men and army officials, led by Darnan Vanna Phirun, who claims to be the father of a so-called descedant of the Shah Anushiravān, as he was married to a woman named Tammera Shirava, a granddaughter of Shah Anushiravan. Tammera died in a car crash last year but she revealed her true identity to her husband, Darnan Vanna Phirun just before she died. Her dying wish, was to see her son in the Throne of Aldegar, as Shah and Protector of the Faith.

Finally the tyranny of the Socialist Republic is over. We are at a crossroads, and we have the power to change things for the better in this our country Aldegar. We, the Aldegarian Free Democracy Party, are a neo-liberal party made up of people from all the walks of life. Head of the newly elected Opposition is Rahim Mazanderani, a school teacher from Mahtābi, brought up in Rutania. During the "reign" of the tyrannic Socialist Republic he was consistently hounded by the Government for his writings. This built up his legend among the liberal leaning citizens of Aldegar, many of whom petitioned him to run for Head of State after the collapse of Socialism.

After the elections of March 3865, the AFD got 49.18% of the total votes, and managed to secure 61 seats in the newly named Representative Assembly, only 3 less than the First Party: The Shah's Chosen. After fierce negotiations, the Cabinet seats for "Science and Technology" and "Trade and Industry" have been appointed to the AFD, notably Alona Nabavi and Tömörbataar Mandukhai respectively.

Tremmors in the coalition...
After controversial Budget cut proposal
Image
Minister of Finance Hurkuz Sothy in a heated debate
The coalition government in Aldegar, consisting of Shah's Chosen and the Free Democratic Party, has found its first stumbling rock. A rather controversialbugdet cut proposal, made by our Esteemed Minister of Finance Hurkuz Sothy, was the subject of a heated debate between the 2 government partners, as a 10 Million ACR cut was proposed in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, a Ministry held by AFD's own Tömörbataar Mandukhai. Sources from inside AFD find the proposal a "disgrace" and believe that Minister Sothy victimized them, as he could have cut from other ministries as well. Minister Sothy defended his proposal by stating that
"the cuts will be temporary, and they are needed to jumpstart our economy"
. Many sources also report that the Education Reform bill was a major talking point for both parties, after a rather questionable speech on local authorities and Satraps mostly, of the Minister of Education, who might had forgotten that of his fellow ministers were Satraps and still hold the title as an honor. It is rumoured that the Chancellor-Regent is very concerned about the situation and might actually make a statement later tonight.

New coalition government promises to "make compromises, for the good of Aldegar"

After long and dramatic negotiations, the Shah's Chosen, the political party that represents the aristocratic royalists of Aldegar, and large part of the clergy, has finally decided to accept the terms of the Free Democrat Party, a middle class right-wing party, with which they had cooperation in the past, after the fall of the Socialists. As the leader of AFD put it "those Pillars of cooperation, are needed to be accepted,as our colleagues of the Shah's Chosen, have shown extreme tendencies in the past".
Regent Darnan Vanna Phirun, leader of the Shah's Chosen, has released the following statement to the press, after the deal was sealed and the new cabinet members have been presented in front of the Shah, to receive his blessing:

After long thought, we have decided to cooperate with our esteemed colleagues,of the Free Democrat Party, because we felt it was the best alternative for the country. Years went wasted under the previous government, and we can't risk our country's welfare and future over petty arguments. We shall move forward in a coalition government, and try to compromise for the good of Aldegar. For our future, and our children's future.

As for the cabinet members, these are:
Foreign Affairs Shah's Chosen Band Satrap Hirgaz Navan
Internal Affairs Free Democrat Party Ahmad Mirzaei
Finance Shah's Chosen Band Hurkuz Sothy
Defence Shah's Chosen Band Ikhmet Pich Veasnan
Justice Shah's Chosen Band Hurmuz Hiriki
Infrastructure and Transport Free Democrat Party Firuza Ghorbani
Health and Social Services Free Democrat Party Golnara Jalili
Education and Culture Shah's Chosen Band Pich Anashir
Science and Technology Free Democrat Party Alona Nabavi
Food and Agriculture Shah's Chosen Band Jaharand Ananishir
Environment and Tourism Shah's Chosen Band Hareesha Inashirvan
Trade and Industry Free Democrat Party Tömörbataar Mandukhai

Of course the cabinet is headed by the Esteemed Regent Darnan Vanna Phirun.

It is a great day for Aldegar, as two parties, try to compromise for the greater good. For stability and prosperity in our nation. For our future.
Rejoice people of Aldegar, for the best years are upon us!
