AMNAM CONDEMNS RIOTS AGAINST PALACESecurity forces regaining control of Pāytakht-e Aldegār
July 10th, 3605
Months after the riots in Pāytakht-e Aldegār brought down the old Royal Palace and sent the city in chaos for weeks, President Amnam has pledged to restored order. While he commended the republican spirit of the protests he had sharp criticism for the rioters and those who led the crowds to the old Palace. He said such behavior would not be tolerated in the future and that it was the goal of the Cranillaise Conspiracy to turn us into a nation which cannibalizes its history. He pledged more security forces to the Old Capital as it is now called and declared the government was now commencing a search for stolen and missing artifacts. Remorseful citizens have already turned in hundreds of stolen artifacts from the Palace while government teams search for more. However action is limited with funds constantly short given the huge repairs being tended to by the national authorities.
President Amnam finished his address by saying the artifacts would go into a secure storage facility in Somasi and that when funds could be raised, a new Aldegar National History Museum would be planned and built. Already the President has sent out word asking for international donors to help protect the nations cultural heritage by contributing funds to the Museum.
FRESH ROUND OF CRACKDOWNSPolice storming a meeting of political Yazdean groups
July 14th, 3605
In an effort to shore up internal political stability in the nation thousands of police and assorted security forces have embarked on a multi-day crack down of "subversive opposition groups likely connected to the Cranillaise Conspiracy." Police stormed the meetings of "radical" Yazdean political groups, so called international watch dog groups and other assorted groups. So far the Interior Ministry has announced that some 1400 persons are now in police custody on charges of subverting the state, treason, terrorism, espionage and a litany of other crimes.
However in a shocking move several hundred international citizens were detained in the crackdowns. Most of whom were at the meeting places when the raids took place but a few even were arrested. In all some 230 international citizens were arrested mainly from the nations of Dorvik (60), Luthori (40), Tukarali (50) and foreign Cranillaise persons numbering 50, while the remaining have yet to have their citizenship confirmed. All embassies have been notified of their arrest and a special legal team run jointly by the Foreign and Justice ministries is taking care of their needs. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that visits by proper diplomatic personal would be arranged shortly.
Despite the high number of foreign citizen arrests, domestic targets were far bigger in scope. Some 400 various Yazdean religious leaders were arrested and charged with a host of crimes while various opposition group leaders and members were also arrested and charged with treason. The Justice Ministry said it was thoroughly reviewing the cases pending and that "no criminal, whether foreign or domestic can escape the full might of the law."
DISCRIMINATION AGAINST ALDEGARIAN CRANILLAISE AND TUKARESE GROWS WORSEJuly 17th, 3605
In the wake of large scale security clampdown for public security reasons, reports from groups in Aldegar show that more than Yazdean religious are being targeted. The small Cranillaise minority in the nation has been ruthlessly vilified and despite an official policy of one Aldegar, no discrimination, representatives of the group say they are subject to daily persecution in schools, the work place, and especially from the government and security force. Many are trying to leave the country for Rildanor and Kanjor but with tight border controls and an even more Cranillaise hostile Saridan to the south it seems the plight of these people will not end.
The Tukarese have always been viewed with suspicion despite their small numbers (around only 15,000) but recent internal meddling by the Tukarese government has brought the ire of the Aldegarian government on this small border group. Most Tukarese are now homeless and facing increasing poverty and destitution in Aldegar as the government takes their property and declares them everything but official state enemies. Worse yet these people cannot flee to their homeland because of the border closing and with no flights scheduled to Tukarali. And international flights cost too much for the remaining Tukraese ethnics as the already prosperous Tukarese have already fled the country.
