PL,NCP and MALP worst coalition in decades.
February 4386

Excerpt from news reel:

After the surprisingly jubilant tripartite coalition took office it has failed on every level. The populace has steadily changed it's opinion to a much more scathing one towards this failing conservative and neoliberal coalition. No comments from the representatives of the parties on the subject.

Excerpt from news reel:

After debate in the Defense Ministry of Malivia it has been decided that country will send a crew of 50 personnel with a security detail of 20 commandos with the express orders to only protect the observers to Kazulia.

It has been deemed necessary to gain insight into modern warfare and the Kazulian-Northern Council exercise is a perfect chance to gain just that.

PPM representative fired after he tested positive for drug use
February 4391

A PPM representative has tested positive on cannabis after suspicions from some officials during a speech. In said speech, Mr. Patel mentioned this:

[...] That does mean though that Malivia will remain a constitutional monarchy.

When he ended the speech, some parlamentarians were confused by his statement. The first to notice was a FF representative who was present at the time; soon after Mr. Patel was arrested by police; they took him to a hospital, where he had done the drug test. The laboratory which analysed him published the result, leaving no doubts about his condition. He is now suspended from office temporarily and he's recovering in a rehabilitation centre.

Ex-Prime Minister of Malivia Ajani Octavio has reacted to this scandal (translated):
You want my opinion about this? [...] I think Malivia needs more restrictions imposed on drugs. We're not saying we should illegalize caffeine but a lot of work has to be done. As of today, we do not have the sufficient support so the solution will have to be postponed.

Consolidation of all legal sex workers under the New National Brothel Company.
July 4393

Excerpt from news reel:

After debate between parties that lasted months. The FF proposed a new radical bill detailing the creation of a company that will handle all of the sex workers in Malivia essentially establishing a state monopoly. This is a huge stream of revenue towards the state with the national market in Malivia relating to such services being estimated to about 6.4 Billion which is estimated to double or triple after it is encompassed under a stable and legitimate corporation like the NBC.

Inara Mpala elected as president; PPM's first time presidency of Malivia
November 4418

Image
Photo of Inara Mpala during an interview

After an unexpected result of 51.83% in the second round for presidency, Inara Mpala (the leader of the Plurality Party of Malivia, a right-wing association) has become the new president of Malivia with the support of the Communist Unification of Malivia, which shares many ideas with the PPM. This is the first time in decades that a non-left party has won the presidency, so it came as a delightful surprise for her party that she won. She has been interviewed by numerous newspapers and TV channels declaring her new mandate.
[...]As the new president of this country, my party and I will continue to make reforms to Malivia to improve its social, economic and political situation with some cultural progress too, unlike previous candidates for presidency.

The response of the previous leader of the PPM (Aelius Jain) wasn't positive. As an extreme right ex-candidate for presidency of the party, he is quite worried with what this new president will mean for Malivia. Jain's declaration was quite controversial.
Our party was never meant to be ruled by a centrist, much less a not-Bhulkhandran person. Still, I have a bit of confidence in her.

Of course, the new opposition that had ruled Malivia for a very long time wasn't very happy with the results; for them it was a surprise too that Inara Mpala and the PPM won. The coalition of Malivia comprised of Malivia in Movement, Wind of Change, YES! and Movement 54 is a leftist movement that has had presidency since 4400. They have retained full majority until 4418, the date of this election.

Inara Mpala was born in 4370 at the city of Kajpur, Washebar. She has studied at the University of Serediki and has showed interest in politics since her youth. After she became a militant of the Plurality Party of Malivia in 4400, she has quickly ascended the ranks of the party until she became candidate of the presidency of Malivia in March 4415.

The new president has proposed a new budget and a new tax system, and is looking forward to a new cabinet to renovate the old one. These four years will be remembered for a long time, as the Plurality Party has finally the presidency.

Malivian CEOs confident about industry's performance but not on economy's growth, finds ministry report.
October 4430

>91 percent CEOs are confident about the growth prospects of their company for the next three years.
>69 percent of the CEOs in Malivia indicated that they are optimistic about the country's economic growth as against 81 percent of the executives, who were confident about the industry prospects.
>The survey finds that 57 percent of the Malivian CEOs acquisitions will have only a moderate impact on the organisation, with the remainder split between making no acquisitions, that is 25 percent, and making acquisitions with significant impact, that is 18 percent.
>62 percent of the Malivian CEOs see emerging markets as the biggest priority for geographical expansion over the next three years quoting them as their company's main focus for the expansion.
>The robust corporate earnings' and the overall financial performance of the company are major indicators to determine cash bonus, the survey finds.
>A majority of the chief executives also see the growing cyber security threats as a risk which could hurt the company's health in the long term.
>Ninety-four percent of the chief executives said the disruption in the industry is more of an opportunity than a threat. However, the same proportion, 93 percent, also seems overwhelmed by the time needed to make progress.

Excerpt from news reel:

With the corporate earnings season in full swing, a majority of the Malivian chief executives are confident that their respective companies will show robust performances-at least for the next three years, says a ministry financial report titled 'Malivian CEO Outlook 4430'.

According to the report, while the CEOs are confident of their company's growth, they did not seem much confident about country's economic growth.

The survey also found that Malivian's chief executives have a shorter time span in the company as compared to the core economies. The average time-span of every Malivian chief executive, according to the survey, is 4.9 years, while the CEOs in the core economies in Istalia, Kazulia, Dorvik, Indrala, Vanuku and Luthori, have an average term of 5.7 years.

Parliament in Upheaval. Left wing forms Unity Coalition and passes a new constitution.
May 4438

Excerpt from news reel:

The left wing pressed through today May 13th a most controversial bill repealing the entire constitution and passing a new one. According to the new constitution Malivia shall be Hereby be called the Federal Socialist Republic of Malivia and the parliament has been abolished and replaced with a the council of the Popular Soviet of Malivia.

The right is stumped and is redoubling their efforts to topple the government through the next elections but analysts say pending any radical changes in the political scene the constitution shall stay.
