Igor Pilarczyk retires as Foreign Minister
Nowogard, November 15, 4434
Image
The now aging diplomat leaves behind a long history behind him, but he states that he's been waiting for this for years.

NOWOGARD - Today Igor Pilarczyk exited his office for the last time, as he announced his retirement as Foreign Minister. "This has been something I've been debating for a long time. I've helped steer our country into the right places and reflected our values of preserving democracy abroad." A replacement for Pilarczyk was already chosen within hours of his retirement. Gustaw Palinski, a top level official in a Voivodeship chapter of the Social Democratic Workers Party. When spoken to in a press conference by Valruzia Daily, he was largely committed to the continuation of Pilarczyk's policies. "He was an excellent negotiator when he was in office and he'll probably never lose that charm, even during his retirement. I supported his policies and I believe that they should be continued. Valruzia should remain in the Northern Council and assist in the protection and establishment of democracies the world over." Prior to Pilarczyk's departure, Valruzia had condemned ODEN as a "criminal empire" and engaged in frequent talks of a rival organization with Lourenne. Palinski was quick to speak about this as well.

Image
Largely expected to win the nomination as Pilarczyk's successor, Palinski ran the Gryfit Voivodeship chapter of the Social Democratic Workers Party.

"Valruzia has allowed recreational and both medicinal marijuana to be legal for decades. It has little to no ill-effects and is a thriving microcosm of our economy. We fully support the formation of an alliance based upon the legalization of marijuana and the exporting and importing of it. However we must address that ODEN, while being an exporter of marijuana, is also an exporter of extremely harmful and dangerous substances, such as LSD and heroin, which have been proven to be mind-altering and harmful to the human body. Let it be known that once I am confirmed as Pilarczyk's replacement, I fully agree to engaging in bilateral talks with Lourenne about the formation of a marijuana organization, along with placing retaliatory sanctions on not only Kalistan, the ringleader of what can be only described as the biggest cartel Terra has ever seen, but also applying sanctions to every single nation that is a member state. We will show them that they are harming peoples lives. It should be a shame that only our nation and Lourenne have taken action against their disgusting organization."

DLR's sinnister intentions?
Hel, 11 June, 4436
Image
Krzysztof Herbowicz, leader of the DLR; DLR's candidate for Prime Minister

HEL - After a succesful showing in the recent election and the capture of a constitutional majority the DLR is more powerful than any party in the recent history.
But the question that keeps rising up more and more is what are they going to do with this amount of influence.
There have been some reports indicating DLR members', including their leader's, worrying political history.
Mr. Herbowicz as well as a strong majority of his party MPs and most likely future cabinet members have an alleged history of membership in communist organizations.
While the Party Spokeperson did not wish to either deny nor confirm the allegations actions taken in the past by an unknown group of people seem to legitimize the story.
Shortly before the election when the documents allegedly first surfaced they were quickly covered up (according to unofficial sources) by a group of bureaucrats inside the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The allegations are yet to be fully confirmed, but if they are true the Republic might soon face an enormous threat to it's existence.

In other news:

Trybuna Walruzii | | Tribune of Valruzia

Ridiculous - Far-right cries 'communist'.

Far-right news sources did not take DLR's victory well.
Some of them go as far as to call soon to be Prime Minister a communist agent.
With non-existent documents the allegations seem slanderous at best.

Revolution in the national budget, changes in the diplomatic course
Nowogard, 3 July, 4454

Łukasz Zaworny and Dominik Karczewski offer their congratulations to Zbigniew Orzeł after the half-year economic rapport

NOWOGARD - Six months after the great series of budgetary cuts introduced by the Minister of Finance, Zbigniew Orzeł - who shrinked the Valruzian central budget by over one-third - the coalition politicians are all in a good mood. The rapport by the Economic and Financial Committee of the Sejm indicates that the GDP growth has risen to 4.2% annualy, with the level of private investment also significantly higher than the previous year. "We got rid of the socialist burden", Orzeł said, "no wonder we can finally see our economy flourishing as it should". Not everyone is happy with the changes, though. While some right-wing critics point to the "dangerously low" level of defence financing and to the organisational costs of the reform that were higher than expected, a radical leftist Democratic Action made a protest march in the capital yesterday (with estimated 5,000 participants) against the big cuts in the national education and the privatisation of schools. "Now the governmental help in the matter of our children's fate, it vanished, it's almost non-existent", said Aleksandra Chrzanowska, the leader of the DA movement.
But the Zaworny's Cabinet doesn't stop its commitment to low-spending ideas. Progress has been announced by the Ministry of Finance in the preparations of the Directive of Fiscal Responsibility, unofficially called the Orzeł Directive, that is supposed to permamently limit the level of central spending to 16% of GDP - as well as to forbid a deficit and to restrict the value of surplus to 1.5% of budget spending. Public opinion is with the government - a new parliamentary election poll by CfPOR shows a record high 47% percent support for Zaworny's Reforma party.

Meanwhile, the Valruzian diplomacy gets harsher in its statements relating to Deltaria. Having already critised communist and totalitarian actions of the Deltarian government, Celina Salko - head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - now strongly condemned the FDSR support for theocratic Zardugal regime. Not only the statements, but also leaving the structures of the Northern Council by Valruzia, show a clear departure form the Coaltion government's leftist precedessors' foreign policy, with the diplomacy now taking pro-Vanukean-Istalian approach. Rumors are being spread in the MoFA about Valruzia-Vanuku trade talks, but any official information is yet to come.

National Republican Party established
The NPR has been created following distrust with the Reformists and a need for a "traditional right wing"
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

After a rousing speech in Nowogard with a few hundred people present the Narodowa Partia Republikańska or National Republican Party was formally established.
Promising the return of a traditional right wing party that fights for family values and ensures that both the public and private sector can thrive the NPR is set to storm the country with its new center right voice.

Opposed to other parties in the present and past the NPR sees the necessity for a strong public sector that supports the private sector.

While our party is strongly in favour of our private sectors we also need to assure a strong public sector so that it could compliment eachother and create creative solutions to future and current problems!

Said Veljko Cisek, the young charismatic leader of the NPR. With just 42 years old he is one of the youngest candidates for the position of HOG but according to the polls his party is set to storm the country with its new center-right compromise.

We are excited to see what this new party could bring the country, he is said to campaign accros the country for the next year elections.

NPR campaigns in Ruzyjskie, Valruzian arms industry makes gains
The NPR is campaigning accros the country and is currently focussing on Ruzyjskie while the Valruzian arms industry is reporting record sales
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The NPR is campaigning heavily this campaign season. they have had over 40 town hall meetings accros the country already and are now focussing on the Ruzyjskie region. Veljko Cisek, leader of the NPR, has been focussing heavily on family values and valruzian culture in his speeches and rallies. The party had to defend their position on abortions several times with conservatives saying that abortion is "unnatural" and is "killing babies" the NPR has until now succesfully managed to bring an argument to the table that sattisfied conservatives, they say that abortion is a right of all women because the women only commit abortion when god tells them to.

Image
Veljko Cisek being interviewed during a NPR rally in Ruzyjskie

Somehow the conservatives are sattisfied with this answer and the NPR continues to rise in the polls. In Ruzyjskie the NPR also criticized the economic policy of the ruling Reform party calling it "destructive" and "against the interest of the Valruzian people"

This government continues to block legislation that would revive the Valruzian economy, they instead propose reckless spending and destructive policies that only give the biggest bussiness more power instead of introducing a equall amount of regulation to ensure that both bussinesses and the people benefit from government policy. It is time we end the recklessness and monopoly of the Reform party and bring this country back to its core values! Vote NPR for a responsible administration!

Said Veljko Cisek during a speech in Ruzyjskie.
According to polls the NPR is steadily rising with around 27% of the vote intention now.
The actual polls can be seen here:

Reform:52% of the vote

NPR:27% of the vote

CP:21% of the vote

Valruzian arms industry makes gains
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

While the market is being liberalized by the ruling Reform party the Valruzian arms industry. Especially the State company VAG or "Valruzian Armaments Group" is making significant gains on both the domestic and international market. While VAG is a state company the company is also benefitting from the free armaments market that has been created by The Reform party and by the increased demand for equipment following the West Majatran war.

The VAG company has reported record sails with a increase of over 50% in profit last quarter. Especially the small arms and explosives sails are driving sails up as more and more countries increase their national spending on defense.
VAG is also preparing the creation of several new weapon systems including a Anti-Ballistic missile system that is expected to enter the market by the end of 4458.
If this trend in the arms industry continues VAG is also likely to expand its operations further into Terra, with the permission of the government.

Veljko Cisek visits music festival
The NPR leader Cisek visited the "Popeye" music festival in Blatunowice during his campaign trail
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As the campaign for the legislative elections next year intensifies NPR leader Veljko Cisek visited the pop festival called "Popeye" during his tour through the city of Blatunowice. The festival was interupted during a peformance of Lady NaNa and Cisek arrived on stage during the end of NaNa's song "Bad Bromance". When Cisek arrived on stage over 20.000 young fans of NaNa started cheering not knowing what was happening.

When Cisek told the crowd who he was the crowd suprisingly started cheering even louder. Giving a rousing speech Cisek told them that the Valruzian future was bright and that the NPR would not only fight for the families but also for the youth of the nation.

Image
Cisek (middle right) behind the scenes at Popeye

This government has been obsessed with deregulation and anarchist proposals. Living in freedom is what we all want, but we should also ensure the safety of our children and the health of our economy and educational system. You, the youth of our nation, are the future upon which we have to build. We have to protect you and give you opportunity. We have to have a state with authority so that none of you will be left behind because of hyperliberalism! Let us stand together! United! for a better Valruzia!

Said Cisek in his speech. When the leader of the NPR left the festival continued with acts like "Marcoon 8" and "Eighty Five Pilots"
The NPR is trying to both swing the young and old votes. Combining centre-left economic ideals to attract the young voters and right wing social policies to attract the older conservative voters. The NPR is now at around 29% of the vote in polls and many believe they will rise even further in the polls if they continue to campaign as intensifely as they do now.

"F-ing democracy", says minister in a private conversation
Szary Kamień, 8 January, 4458
Image
Zbigniew Orzeł said the infamous words to Tomasz Astonowicz (on the left), the Reforma's local figure

SZARY KAMIEŃ - This is not a good time for the governing coalition. While the polls show a continued decline of support for the Reforma (with CfPOR giving it 46% of votes against NPR's 31%), a new scandal seems to arise around one of the party's prominent figures.
"Clear. weekly" has published a series of tapes that contained private conversations of some reformist politicians. It is not clear (no pun intended) what the source of these recordings is.
Here comes a fragment of a conversation between Zbigniew Orzeł and Tomasz Astonowicz:

TA: My people starting to, wanna switch here, you know, to NPR or Patriots. Going there, hoping for better positions. I got another two dismissals today.
ZO: Better postitions... No respect for the project they're in...
TA: Right... right...
ZO: Fake liberals. Hoping for positions... They're not gonna win. They're gonna lose. We're not going anywhere.
TA: Don't know if you've seen today's polls.
ZO: No, what?
TA: NPR with 30 and something again.
ZO: Sh-t... Who's into their statist talking?
TA: Don't know, so odd to me...
ZO: After everything we've done, all the changes for the better... The successes...
TA: Right... right...
ZO: You can try, do everything you can, all out... In the end losing power to the biggest shouters. F-ing democracy...
TA: Right... (Laughs) Nothing good...

The statement has caused a stir among political commentators. As put by Rafał Zaś, columnist for "Walruzja Codziennie": "The conflict between market globalisation and sovereign democracy is well known to us, economists, for quite some time. The Reforma has always been the party of big business; to the extent, it seems, that they would be even able to sacrifice some of the democratic freedoms".
However, some voices defend the minister. Jan Rzodkiewa, writing for us: "Everyone can see that the words said in the conversation are clearly a joke. Every politician can get irritated by the political situation sometimes, but making this irritation a target of serious accusations - it is absurd".
(Full versions of both opinions on page 7 in today's edition of "Walruzja Codziennie")

Centrists Rally To New Party
July 4458

Mikolaj Sikorski the founder of a notorious anti-government "Incompetence Today" blog has announced the founding of a new political party - Razem (Together) Sikorski,45 said that he had grown alarmed at how the "anarchist and chaotic" libertarian Reforma government was dividing Valruzian society, ramping up inequality and gutting the public sector as well. Sikorski was elected its first leader and hopes to take advantage of his online presence to publicise the new party. Luckily for the young party, netpreneur Ewa Czuma donated 150,000 zloty to the new party enabling it to get some rudimentary party structures in place even as most of its acitvity remains based online.

Image
Mikolaj Sikorski

The response to Razem has been "amazing" according to Sikorski. While aiming to attract mostly students, upper middle class and the self-employed, other groups have commented favourably on the new party. A host of editorials from major news outlets have endorsed the party as "one of few sane choices." Sikorski's vision of a "great centrist pole" has been greeted by some left and right leaning groups as a welcome chance to the extreme anti-statist and "apparently anti-democratic" ruling party's dominance It remains to be seen if the electorate will respond with similar enthusiasm.

Zaworny adresses the nation, warns not to "lose everything we have achieved"
Nowogard, 21 September, 4458
Image
The head of the Reforma's cabinet faces the highest disapproval rating in his political career

NOWOGARD - With the election next month, the Reforma tries their best to mobilize their electorate and show the passing term in the most positive light possible. Łukasz Zaworny made a speech yesterday, that was broadcasted at 3 pm by major TV channels. Summarising the last few years, mentioning many achievements of his Cabinet, presenting optimistic economic forecasts for the future of Valruzia, Zaworny also warned the listeners about what he called the "anti-freedom thinking" of the opposition.

We are the most prosperous economy in Seleya. And we are a country of free citizens. Thanks to all those efforts... that actually started back in '52, or even back in '48, Valruzian people can say without any doubts that the fate of their lives is in their hands. There are some politicians who will tell you: this is not how it should be. That the world of freedom is the world of chaos and misery, that deciding on our own personal matters... cannot work. Be afraid of these people. We have seen some examples in the history of the world. Whole nations that turned against liberty. It never ends well for the citizens. Remember - whoever you are, whatever political option you are - that our freedoms are worth preserving. That we should let no one take freedom away from us.

- said Zaworny to the audience of 11,747,000 people. Political commentators strongly doubt that the reformist could be able to secure their dominance in the Sejm. According to CfPOR, now nearly 70% of Valruzians dissaprove of Łukasz Zaworny's government - and this value is even higher when considering the working class alone. With this drastic loss of support comparing to the previous year, the Reforma is widely expected to lose the leadership over the country after this election, while the NPR is said to form the next coalition cabinet.

The SDW officially registered!
A new left wing party called "the Social Democrats of Valruzia" (Socjaldemokraci Walruzyjscy; SDW) officially registered.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Image
Andrzej Weißberg, one of the leading voices of the SDW

NOWOGARD - As the general election draws nearer the Socialdemocrats of Valruzia, a new party on the political stage, has confirmed that they have officially registered their party. Operating from a single office in Nowogard a group of middle class like-minded people are doing what they can to shake up Valruzian politics. Without corporate money they have little to no chances of gathering enough votes to enter the Parliament and they seem to be aware of it aiming for the Nowogard city hall instead. Most members of the party have lived in the city for most of their lives and are optimistic about the possibility of wining one of the most prestigious mayorships in the country.

"I believe our program will appeal to the people of this city, my city." said Weißberg.

And while Nowogard is their main goal the SDW has announced a nation-wide plan calling it their "Founding manifesto". Besides describing party structures, the manifesto paints a picture of the social democratic agenda the party wants to achieve including such topics as LGBTQ+ and Women's rights as well as limiting corporate influence in both politics and economy. There are some who are hopeful the party will succeed in its plans, but so far it seems like a long shot.
