ESCALATION OF AHMADI INSURGENCY IN THE NORTHWEST


After 6 years of tension and low intensity clashes between the Provisional Government of National Stability and the National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria, the conflict has escalated. Following a failed raid on the hideout of the NASFT leadership by the forces of the Provisional Government, the Front has issued what it calls the "Salvation Declaration".

In it, the Front calls for a jihad against the Provisional Government. It justifies this call by accusing the Provisional Government of being an "illegitimate regime controlled by Westerners that oppresses the believers". The Front also calls for the immediate dissolution of the Provisional Government and the Republic of Talmoria and the establishment of a theocratic Ahmadi Republic of Talmoria under Ahmadi religious law. The Front also calls for the expulsion of all Westerners and infidels from the country.

According to recent reports, the Salvation Militia and Salvation Front supporters control most of the countryside and some urban areas in the north-west of the country, notably the Hawaso and Bintuko regions. In these areas, most of the Provisional Government forces are said to have deserted and joined the Front. In the other, more urban areas of the country, where fundamentalist support isn't strong, the Provisional Government forces have managed to repel the small and limited fundamentalist attacks.

In a speech to the international community, Field Marshal Bekṍe Ankomah has appealed for humanitarian and military aid for the Provisional Government. In the speech, he claims that if the nations of the world don't send sufficient aid to the Provisional Government, the Salvation Front will gain even more influence among the Ahmadi population in Talmoria, Dovani, and even across Terra, and may inspire acts similar to the 5392 Sogo bombings.

The reaction of the international community is not yet clear, but the Provisional Government appears to be reeling from the apparent apathy of the rest of the world. Despite this, most of the Provisional Government's supporters are hopeful and optimistic, expecting help from major foreign powers, especially Lourenne.

CLASHES BETWEEN THE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT AND ITS FORMER ALLIES


As the war between the Provisional Government of National Stability and the Talmorian National Salvation Front drags on, cracks in the Provisional Government are widening with each passing week. This widening rift came as the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union organised protests and strikes against the Provisional Government of National Stability.

While initially allied with the Provisional Government, the Anti-Colonial Union has begun to break away from the Provisional Government. The initial alliance was due to disagreements and conflicts between the National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria and the Anti-Colonial Union over the status of religious law, freedom of speech and workers' rights, which led the Anti-Colonial Union to support the Provisional Government.

Now, however, disagreements within the Provisional Government between the Anti-Colonial Union and Field Marshal Bekṍe Ankomah's clique over foreign influence and the status of workers' rights and economic policy have boiled over, and the Anti-Colonial Union has called for strikes and protests to force the Marshal's clique to promise socialist economic policies and an anti-Western foreign policy.

However, this method of persuasion has clearly failed, as yesterday Field Marshal Ankomah ordered units of the Provisional Government to fire on demonstrators and strikers in areas controlled by the Provisional Government. The death toll so far is more than 50 dead and at least 125 injured, although the efforts of the Provisional Government have made it difficult to obtain accurate figures.

Following the clashes, Anti-Colonial Union leader Chinaza Chibueze announced that the National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria and the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union had agreed that the Anti-Colonial Union would side with the Salvation Front on the condition that the Anti-Colonial Union would have a share in the building of a new Talmoria once the war was over.

It remains to be seen if this alliance can last, but it is becoming clearer by the day that the Provisional Government will lose the war. The question now is whether the Anti-Colonial Union and the Salvation Front can build a stable new Talmoria, or whether it will once again descend into strife and chaos.

BEGINING OF AN END OF THE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT


Following the formation of an alliance between the National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria and the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union, the Provisional Government of National Stability has found itself in a difficult position, with public support for the insurgents only increasing as the Provisional Government's repressive policies continue and the Salvation Front and Anti-Colonial Union promise workers' rights, religious law and a firm stance against Western colonialism and imperialism.

Following the conflict between the Provisional Government and the Anti-Colonial Union, after Field Marshal Bekṍe Ankomah gave the order to fire on strikes and protests organised by the Anti-Colonial Union, the Anti-Colonial Union announced that it was siding with the Salvation Front. Following this announcement, more soldiers from the Provisional Government Forces have deserted to join either the Salvation Militia or the Anti-Colonial Militia.

At the same time, support for the Provisional Government is at an all-time low, with only 17% of the population backing it, and support for the Salvation Front has only increased since the alliance was formed, rising to 78%. According to recent reports, an absolute majority of rural areas are under the control of the Salvation Front, while a third of urban areas are reportedly controlled by the Anti-Colonial Union. This means that outside the capital, Sogo, and a few major cities, the Provisional Government has virtually no control.

There are rumours that the leader of the Provisional Government, Field Marshal Bekṍe Ankomah, has fled the country, but this is unlikely and has not yet been confirmed. As the morale of the Provisional Government forces falls, the leaders of the Salvation Front and the Anti-Colonial Union have announced their willingness to negotiate the terms of surrender. The current leadership of the Provisional Government has so far refused, but with the situation collapsing, this leadership may change quickly.

BREAKING: PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT SURRENDERS


In a public announcement, the leadership of the Provisional Government has announced its surrender to the forces of the National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria and the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union after Field Marshal Bekṍe Ankomah fled the country and abandoned the fighting Provisional Government forces. Following the surrender, the Supreme Leader of the Salvation Front, Chikere Mazzi, and the President of the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union, Chinaza Chibueze, issued the 'Workers and Peasants Salvation Declaration', informally known as the Second Salvation Declaration.

In this declaration they announce the dissolution of the Republic of Talmoria and the creation of the Workers and Peasants Ahmadi Emirate of Talmoria. This new state will be headed by a new Emir of the Workers' and Peasants' Ahmadi Emirate of Talmoria. The legislature of this new state will be the Supreme Council of the Workers' and Peasants' Ahmadi Emirate of Talmoria. The only legal political party will be the Ahmadi Governing Association of Talmoria.

This new state will be protected by the armed forces, which will have powers of arrest and act as a de facto police force, and by two legal militias, the Salvation Militias and the Anti-Colonial Militias. The Salvation Militias will focus on fighting internal enemies such as infidels and unbelievers, while the Anti-Colonial Militias will fight external enemies such as foreign agents and influences.

Economically, the new Emirate will embrace socialism and a state-planned economy. Meanwhile, culturally, it will be governed by religious laws. The Second Declaration of Salvation also abolishes many basic freedoms, such as the right to free speech, the right to abortion, and others.

For these reasons, our editorial board has decided to move to Eroncourt, Lourenne, to ensure that our newspaper continues to bring you truthful and unbiased news.

It remains to be seen whether this strange fusion of Ahmadi fundamentalism and left-wing socialism can survive the coming years. Despite factions forming around the former National Ahmadi Salvation Front of Talmoria and the Talmorian Ahmadi Anti-Colonial Union, there are no obvious splits or fissures yet.

Ahmadist Insurgents Threat Talmorian Capital Sogo and Mining Interests

Ahmadi insurgents have advanced to within 30 miles of the capital of Talmoria, Sogo, causing panic and chaos in the capital as residents and expatriates attempt to flee the city. Ahmadists have dominated large parts of rural Talmoria for decades but in recent months have begun to collate their control, seizing important urban areas and imposing hardline Ahmadist laws. Worryingly there are reports that non-Ahmadis are being forcibly converted, with those who don't being killed or enslaved.

Most of Talmoria has existed in a state of anarchy for the last fifty years since the formation of the Workers' and Peasants' Ahmadi Emirate of Talmoria by the Ahmadi Governing Association of Talmoria in December 5403. Since then Talmora has existed as a failed state with central government non-existent. However due to important mined resources in Talmora, a number of multinational companies, typically Rildanorian, have invested in security, particularly in the major port city of Sogo which also functions as the capital of Talmoria. Committee of Public Safety Formed in Sogo

Local politicians in the capital Sogo have formed a Committee of Public Safety with financial backing from major mining corporations to provide security in the capital and prevent radical Ahmadists from seizing the city. Already private military contractors linked to mining corporations have been seen near the front line engaging in firefights with Ahmadist insurgents and stiffening the resolve of tribal militia groups fighting the insurgents. Although unelected the Committee of Public Safety claims to represent the law abiding community of the capital and has shown a determination to stop the radical Ahmadists from taking the capital.

Invitation to the Union of Rildanor to intervene

Leading figure within the Committee of Public Safety Mayor of Sogo Thebi uMketi has publicly expressed a hope the Union of Rildanor will provide military assistance and intervene in Talmoria. The Mayor noted that Rildanorian companies have many significant investments in Talmoria, along with a significant expatriate community and it would be in Rildanors interests to intervene. Of note, there is currently a public discussion in the Council of the Rildanorian state discussing this very idea of whether the Rildanorian military should intervene in Talmoria.

Rildanor Authorizes Military Intervention in Talmoria

The Council of the Rildanorian State has passed an emergency measure authorizing the Rildanorian Union Armed Forces to intervene in Talmoria in support of the newly formed Committee of Public Safety. The emergency legislation earmarks an extra 6 Billion RCR for Rildanorian defence and 2 Billion RCR for foreign policy measures all designed to support the military intervention. The vote in the Rildanorian State Council followed a request from the Mayor of the Talmorian Capital Sogo who appealed specifically to Rildanor for support in defeating local Ahmadi insurgents.



Rildanorian forces have included front line rapid reaction forces as well as medics.

A mix of local militias and private military contractors associated with multinational mining corporations had been resisting the encroachment of Ahmadi insurgents in areas around the capital of Sogo. However the increased firepower and professionalism of the Rildanorian Union Armed Forces will likely make short work of the lightly armed Ahmadi insurgents.

Rildanorian Forces Push Back Ahmadists

Rildanorian military forces have secured key routes between major coastal cities in Talmoria and from the capital Sogo to mines in the interior of the country. With support from ground attack aircraft and helicopter gunships, elite formations from the Rildanorian Armed Forces, including Paratroopers, Marines and the new Foreign Legion have overwhelmed Ahmadi insurgents in large parts of southern and eastern Talmoria.

A mine owner of Rildanorian extraction, Jean-Joël Deschanel has been appointed the head of the Committee of Public Safety. He has promised to stabilize the Talmorian economy, defeat Ahmadist insurgents and increase resource extraction in the country.

Committee of Public Safety Request Protectorate Status

With much of Talmoria now under the control of the Committee of Public Safety, the head of government Jean-Joël Deschanel has requested Talmoria officially receive Protectorate Status under Rildanorian supervision. Jean-Joël Deschanel suggested this reflects the military and security situation, and will encourage a more rapid return to normal with the benefits of investment and expertise that Rildanor can bring.

The Committee of Public Safety has begun the process of reorganizing the various pro-government militia groups into a new Talmorian National Army. New legislation will forbid paramilitary groups and bring all armed organisations under government control.
