Neuhaus, Talmoria - The National Democratic Party(NDP) swept the 4122 election crushing their main opponents, the National Republic Party(NRP), yet again. The NDP was expected to maintain control of the Gbara as Great Farin Karimi and his policies are extremely popular among the working class. Under Karimi, the Talmorian economy grew rapidly and cut Talmoria's unemployment in half. Many Talmorians attribute Karimi with their increased standard of living. Additionally, the NRP was largely disorganized and failed to mount effective campaigns in many parts of the country which allowed for an easy NDP sweep.

UPSET VICTORY FOR REPUBLICANS!
4127

Neuhaus, Talmoria - Going into the election every major news network and pundit called the election in favor of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Great Farin Asim Karimi's foreign and economic policies were seen as extremely popular. Yet despite all this Asim Karimi and his NDP lost the election in a huge landslide. The Democrats attributed their stunning loss to voter turn out, which has always been historically low for the Democrats. Major figures in the NDP also lost their parliamentary seats and cabinet positions as a result of the election. Out going Speaker of the Gbara Olofunke Buhari barely held onto his seat. Numerous high ranking members were not as lucky as Speaker Buhari.

The stunning loss has also eroded the NDP's once unshakable trust in their leader and Great Farin Asim Karimi. Karimi stated that he would relinquish control of the party to former Farin Alhous Mbadinuju. Mbadinuju once headed both the Farinate of the Interior and the Farinate of Foreign Affairs during the Karimi and Teleola governments. Farin Mbadinuju is seen as the strongest contender for party leadership as he has held several high profile cabinet positions and has a famous great-grandmother who once served as Talmoria's 7th Great Farba.

When the results of the election was clear Great Farin Asim Karimi addressed the nation and conceded the election to his opponent former Great Farba Lisa Reyson:

Serving you for the past nine years has been an absolute honor and privilege. We, as a nation, have accomplished great things together. Together we have literally changed the world. I had hoped to continue my life's work of improving the well-being and lives of my fellow countrymen. I believed that I had the best vision and plan for the country and I still do. But the people have spoken and have chosen someone else to lead.

I want to congratulate Lisa Reyson on her great victory tonight. We may disagree a large range of issues, but I am confident in Reyson's ability to lead the country. Now I ask that we stand behind our new Great Farba and regardless of our differences, all Talmorians share the same purpose: To make this, the world's greatest nation, more safe and more secure. I also want to thank each and everyone of you. Many of you who have been my side at every single political battle. Thank you very, very much. Thank you so much. Thank you..

Talmoria Central New Network:
4130

Neuhaus, Talmoria - Good news today in Talmoria as the Farinate of Trade and Industry has released a new report detailing positive shifts in the national economy. The report has indicated a significant increase in people employed by the industrial sector which align with the last two administration's goals of growing the industrial sector. The industrial sector now accounts for nearly 29% of the national economy. The country has, under the Karimi and the Reyson administrations, pursued an export-led growth model which heavily emphasized the manufacturing of low-cost goods such as textile and plastic goods. The report also indicated the birth of a nascent automobile industry due to government subsidies to Coburan firms. Several international firms also announced that they were moving production of their automobiles to Talmoria in order to take advantage of the low cost of production.

Farin of Industry and Trade Afolabi Fagbure commented:
We are seeing positive signs for the economy; our industrial sector is growing at a steady pace. However, a worrying amount of our national economy and GDP is still tied to oil exports which, by the way, is still the largest Talmorian export. The Farinate is focused on diversifying the economy and is working with the Farinate of Finance to recommend strategies for growing the industrial sector.

Karimi Sacked!

Talmorian Cable News Network (TCNN):
4130

Neuhaus, Talmoria - Great Farba Lisa Reyson has decided to replace former Great Farin and current Farin of Foreign Affairs Asim Karimi with a member of her own party. The revelation is not news to insiders in Neuhaus as Karimi and Reyson, who were opponents in the last two general elections, have been increasingly at odds with one another. Many were even shocked when Reyson appointed Karimi to his old post in the Foreign Affairs Farinate.

An official close to the situation, who wanted remain anonymous, stated:
Reyson knows that Karimi is the best suited for that job. The man has hundreds of contacts across a dozen countries. But the wounds from the elections haven't healed. Karimi's influence over his party's remaining MPs and Farins have led to deep rifts in the coalition or however you want to call their power-sharing deal. And they can only agree on one thing and that's the Neuhaus Pact. I think Reyson just kept Karimi to work out the details of the alliance and to get other countries to ratify it. Now that that's done, she doesn't need him anymore. It's actually quite sad. Karimi devoted over 30 years of his life to this country, yet he gets tossed out like last week's benachin. Sad.

TCNN reached out to Farin Karimi for comment:
Well I certainly wish she had told me first before she told the rest of the country about this. It is actually quite unexpected to be hearing about this from a cable news network and not the Great Farba herself. If she wants me gone then fine. But I hope I can continue my work with the Neuhaus Pact. There's still much to be done.

Hakim Furious!
Jan., 4131

Talmorian Cable New Network(TCNN) reports:
Neuhaus, Talmoria - The usually stoic and reserved Farin of Defense Mamdou Hakim went after Great Farba Reyson's budget plan today in a scathing attack and rant. The new budget strips the Defense Farinate of most of it's funding.

This is a reckless and irresponsible move by the Great Farba! I am extremely worried and upset. First of all how do you expect the Farinate to defend Talmoria, its job, with only 3,000,000 TALs? That's not even enough to pay salaries to all of our troops! Yet she also wants us to purchase ships, maintain military bases, aid veterans, assess security threats, and police the borders with that money as well! She then gives her own staff and department an extra 6,450,000 TALs in funding. What do they need that for? More lavish vacations to the coasts I suppose!

Reyson is clearly an insane, self-serving bureaucrat who is out of touch with the realities of this world. This Great Farba's tenure has been an absolute disaster. She has no idea what she is doing and seems to be winging it every step of the the way. She not only disregards advice from experts but also fires them if they happen to disagree. I know the elections aren't for another few years, but I urge any country-loving Talmorian who may be listening to vote this idiot out! We can't survive with this lunatic in power. We will be literally overrun.

Image
Hakim giving his speech today

The NDP, Hakim's political party, are historical rivals of the NRP which is Reyson's party. While the NRP has a power sharing deal with the NDP, the already shaky coalition seems to be crumbling with the dismissal of high-profile NDP officials and the uncompromising attitude of Reyson. Several NDP cabinet members and officials, who wished to remain anonymous, have stated they may actually resign from Reyson's government if she continues to defy common sense and reason.

Edit: Fixed some errors

Democrats Triumphant!

Neuhaus, Talmoria - The National Democratic Party emerges from an extended period of soul-searching to defeat the National Republic Party. NDP leader Alhous Mbadinuju received over 31 million votes while NRP candidate Daniel Hodson received a meager 19 million. The NDP also performed well in local elections as they picked up 297 of the available 500 seats in the Gbara, giving them a majority. The NDP was widely expected to reclaim the majority in the Gbara and the Great Farinate. Outgoing Great Farba Lisa Reyson diminished much of the NRP's appeal with several unpopular decisions allowing the NDP to make a comeback.

Image
Alhous Mbadinuju

Mbadinuju was formally tasked with forming a new government with the blessing of the Emperor and Empress. Mbadinuju will take office as the 13th Great Farin, the same office his great-grandmother occupied decades ago. Talmorian politics has been seen a rise in politicians from families with established political backgrounds.

Mbadinuju has outlined foreign policy and economic development as his top goals for his tenure. On the campaign trail Mbadinuju promised a new national railway system and improved roads to connect the far-flung cities to each other. In regards to foreign policy Mbadinuju pointed to the ongoing and seemingly unsolvable Malivia Crisis.
The situation in Malivia has gone on for too long. I think the previous administrations were too complacent when it came to Malivia. We need a more heavy-handed approach to tell them that we truly mean business. I campaigned on the promise to make Talmoria and the world a better place. I will keep that promise.

Opposition parties rally behind Barker
Dec., 4219

Neuhaus, Talmoria - Newly founded opposition parties have joined forces in a bit to oust the National Republic Party from office. Five parties, which includes the Liberal Democratic Party, Freedom Party of Talmoria, Jacobus, Popular Rally For the Monarchy and the Talmorian People's Party, have all agreed to set aside differences in order to compete for the Presidency.

The nominated candidate, Elinor Barker, currently leads the Liberal Democratic Party. She comes from an immigrant family who used Talmoria's immigration policy of allowing anybody to permanently reside to settle in Lesako. In a statement outside of Liberal Democratic Party HQ, she had this to say;

I would like to thank my parties and indeed other parties for their support. I will be making a core part of my campaign the liberalisation of our markets and instituting minor constitutional changes to ensure that Talmoria has strong basis in which we can engage with the rest of the world. Although five parties are endorsing me, rest assured, other parties are welcome to do so as well so we can finally end the stagnation and sloth in delivery which has become the status quo under the National Republic Party.

Election Day: Mansaré Reelected!
June 4319

Chief Pahali Mansaré of the National Democratic Party (NDP) won his reelection bid for a second term as Chief after facing no significant challengers. Chief Mansaré campaigned on the issue of the improving national economy under the slogan "Made in Talmoria." The slogan, of course, is in reference to the Talmorian goods that were reportedly so cheap that it flooded the markets of neighboring countries. This is a result of the economic package enacted in Mansaré's first term that subsidizes the costs of production for many Talmorian made goods, which allowed Talmorian companies to outperform their competitors in foreign markets.

Mansaré says that the goal of his second term is to create a new merchant and business class in Talmoria that would be the engine of future economic expansion. The economic stimulus program enacted in his first term pumped billions of Talmorian Schmeckles (TALs) into select industries and businesses that has done historically well in Talmoria. The program has also funneled funds into developing new industries such as manufacturing and commodities. Talmoria is rich in resources, such as oil and rare metals, that the administration wishes to develop into a robust Talmorian industry. Mansaré has also indicated his support for increased infrastructure funding to fix the aging Talmorian roadways. The administration already passed an infrastructure bill in 4317 to fund public works programs, but says that more infrastructure bills may be introduced to wrench Talmoria's infrastructure and transit systems into the new century.

The Neuhaus Times
June 4357

Talmoria has entered a mourning period as its long-reigning and much beloved Emperor VIII has passed of natural causes. The Emperor ascended to the throne in Talmoria in March of 4276 at the young age of 28. He remained on the throne for an astounding 81 years before passing at the age of 109. The Emperor, as a young man, played a pivotal role in ending minority rule in Talmoria in the 4270s and reestablishing a majority-Asli administration. Chief of Talmoria Jibril Ceesay broke the news of the Emperor's passing on the steps of the Noyoka Palace:

My fellow Talmorians, it is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of our Emperor. The Emperor was the very essence of compassion and duty. All over the world he was a symbol of selfless humanity and the struggle of freedom. All over the world, a standard bearer for the rights of the truly downtrodden, an individual who was Talmorian as they came, yet managed to transcend nationality. While the entire world mourns the loss of a great man, it is Talmoria that is truly grieving for we have lost our mai kulawa.

Emperor Saksoure VIII has selected one of his granddaughters, Princess Aminatu Zubaydah Saksoure, as his successor. The Princess will tour Hawu Mumenhes, where she will assume the title of Pharaoh, before returning to Talmoria to be crowned as the Esinsundu Empire's first Empress-regnant. She is expected to take up residence in the Imperial Palace in Neuhaus.

The Neuhaus Times

January 4369

Chief Alasan Singhateh announces ambitious plans to completely revamp aging military. The proposed plan will phase out the army-centric command structure in favor of a joint-command with equal inputs from the navy, army, and the air force. The plan also calls for the reduction of the 20 military command regions into 5 in order to reduce military bureaucracy and increase the military's ability to respond to border threats. The plan will see Talmoria's moderately sized military personnel of 250,000 expanded to 300,000 in order to increase Talmoria's naval and air presence in the Gulf of St. Sebastian. This is expected as the Gulf is home to Talmoria's off-shore oil rigs and is of significant economic interest to the Talmorian government. Chief Singhateh also announced plans for naval and army drills with Hawu Mumenhes in response to growing tension in Dovani.

My government is hopeful that conflict will not break out in Dovani, however if conflict does erupt then Talmoria will be prepared to protect its people. - Chief Alasan Singhateh

March 4369

Chief Alasan Singhateh met with Coburan Prime Minister Damiana Zardido in the Talmorian capital of Neuhaus. The two historic allies have experienced rather cool relations with one another under Singhateh's predecessor Jibril Ceesay who insulted the Coburan head of state in a diplomatic faux pas. However, Singhateh has recently signaled his desire to repair relations with Cobura and re-engage the international community. Singhateh's meeting with Prime Minister Zardido was considered to be largely successful with Talmoria and Cobura reaffirming their commitments as allies under the defensive Neuhaus Pact. The meeting also resulted in a formal exchange of ambassadors 4359 with the appointment of Ms. Rohey Bah, the current Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, as the new Ambassador to Cobura.

May 4369

Chief Singhateh has chosen Uwaezuoke Chukwubuikem to fill the long vacant post of Deputy Chief of Government. Chukwubuikem's appointment is seen largely as an attempt to appease the restless labor movement within the Esinsundu National Congress's (KKE) broad coalition. Chukwubuikem previously served as a union boss in Jaradugu, a city with a large automobile manufacturing sector, before being elected to Parliament in 4353.
