Security forces raid "Terror schools"
May 3037

Security forces in Endralon claim to have eliminated a network of terror training facilities in the city of Mendelev. A series of raids in the Efineya district targeted illegal schools where young students were being radicalised and trained to carry out terror attacks.

The illegal schools were operated by the Mystical Free Catholic Church of Endralon, a radical religious group believed to have links to the Social Liberal Republicans. The schools were established in defiance of new laws outlawing religious schools in Endralon. Those running the schools had been repeatedly ordered to close the schools.

Thirty-seven adults were arrested in the raids and over two hundred children were taken into protective care by the state. Nine of those arrested were seriously injured and are being treated under guard at a military hospital.

Said Defence Minister Zlatan Zasulich: "Despite the warnings, they were not closed. Security forces carried out strikes this afternoon in which these terror schools were knocked out. We had reliable information about the nature of the crimes being committed in these schools."

The Defence Minister said the schools belonged to a certain Rev. W. Clarke, a religious extremist wanted by the authorities for terrorist activities. He dismissed allegations that the charges were trumped-up or that the raids were in any way politically motivated.

Lavish coronation ceremony for new King of Endralon
April 3080

Muskar I was officially crowned the King of Endralon in an elaborate ceremony in the capital city. The lavish coronation was full of pomp and ceremony and capped off five days of celebrations in honour of the new king, who heads the ruling House of Syldavia.

The young sovereign was officially crowned the 4th Syldavian ruler of Endralon after the death of his father, King Ottokar III, who reigned for 57 years.

Afterwards the new king was cheered by thousands of people, including flag-waving children and tourists, who lined the streets which were decorated with flags and banners for the occasion.

Government acts to combat emerging paramilitary influence
October 3091

The Council of Representatives is set to approve the a series of laws intended to combat paramilitary forces in Endralon. The laws will provide new powers for the government and the security forces to tackle paramilitary groups and their gangster allies.

Included in the bill are laws that for the first time explicitly outlaw paramilitary forces in Endralon. It will also tighten laws relating to arms trafficking and possession, and will give the authorities further powers to intervene freely to stop any suspected paramilitary activity.

In a statement, the Justice Minister said that emerging paramilitary groups are increasing their control over large parts of rural Endralon and are exerting influence over election results within those areas. If the new measures are passed by the Council of Representatives, the government claims it will be able to halt the spread of the paramilitary influence.

Endralon Election Results 3242
Endralonians across the nation went to the polls in force last night in elections for Chancellor and the Council of Representatives. According to national elections officials, voter turnout exceeded 85%, even larger than figures from the last national elections. Six parties fielded candidates for the Chancellorship. Jackus Maximus of the Renewal Party won the first round of elections with 38.6% of the vote. His main challenger, Thomas Eddie of the People's Independence Party came in second with 27.5%. However, unlike in the previous election, Mr. Maximus failed to garner enough support to win the runoff elections, coming in a close second to Mr. Eddie. Mr. Eddie's victory came thanks to support from the National Conservative Party and the Social Market Party.

In the elections to the Council of Representatives, no party was a big winner, with seats in the Council remaining essential the same. The People's Independence Party won the majority of seats in the Sovereign States of Kundar and Efineya, while the Renewal Party won the majority of seats in the remaining States of Hugalon, Zergon and Old Ginbar. The National Conservative Party won the most new seats, adding six to its 22. The People's Independence Party, although successful in the elections for Chancellor, lost 4 seats. The night's biggest loser was the relatively new Liberal Party of Endralon. The party failed to win a single seat for a second consecutive election. The party ousted Samantha Caldwell as leader. The party now looks to George Caldwell, Ms. Caldwell's son, to improve the party's visibility and popularity among the public.

New Government in Endralon; for the first time ever, an anarchist party in government coalition

It has now been officially announced that the United Libertarian Front has formed a coalition with the Syndicalist Alternative, an anarchist party consisting of the old leftist, anti-monarchist and rebel forces of Endralon.

"Although anti-parliamentarism is in the nature of anarchism, we are 100% pro democratic and finally take the change to the institutions" says Rosa Mihn, secretary general of the Syndicalist Alternative. "We have many big plans for this country, and we will start the parliamentary revolution", says an anonymous member of the party "but we should not forget that all of us are requested now; we need to set up local communities and finally set ourselves free from the central government. The Syndicalist Alternative will make sure we can coexist peacefully, nothing more, nothing less". To emphasise the importance of this new government, Rosemary Menyth (ULF) has decided to resign from her post as prime minister, although the ULF will continue leading the government.

On the streets, many people have spontaneously gathered to celebrate the first ever anarchist party joining a government, let alone entering parliament.

"This is an important moment in Endralon's history ever since the abolition subsequent forceful restoration of monarchy" says Geraldine Guitty, professor of history at the University of Syldavia.

"I put great hopes in this new government" says a 25- year old student "perhaps, we will finally change this deeply conservative society and understand that democracy is not given, we must continue to strive for equality, overcome the old aristocracy, abolish this military apparatus that has only brought war and we need to get rid of the monarchy".

A veteran of the civil war sees the end of a long struggle: "finally, we have reconciliated many of those who where always suppressed, we have survived police repression and military operations against us. Seeing how this movement survived all these obstacles to finally form a democratic political movement deeply moves me".

But it is not only the SA which is up for changes, the ULF has been working on them in the last five years. "Both Libertarians and Syndicalists have quite some things in common" says Henri Brunne, a public anarchist thinker "They are progressive, they are anti-militaristic and anti-monarchist. However, I think they will clash when it comes to issues like the market and privatisation, thus because capitalism might be the solution for the ones, while it's the devil for the others".

Tens of Thousands Demonstrate Against Monarchy

Throughout the whole country, people have rallied on the streets to request the end of the monarchy.
For the first time in a long period, anti-monarchist demonstrations have become possible. After the civil war, pro-monarchist parties had created an atmosphere of insecurity, using the armed rebels as reason to forbid any anti-monarchist agitation.

However, the new government seems to let the demonstrators free hand.
"The right to demonstrate should become a basic right of each and every citizen in Endralon" said Daniel Marcos, the Syndicalist Alternative's spokesperson for civil rights. "And if it is the wish of the people to abolish this monarchy, we should take care that the situation stays calm and peaceful".

Considering the last attempt of proclaiming a republic and its subsequent instability, all parties look at this proposition with a certain concern.
"We should make sure that once this step is taken, we institutionalise the republic and take care that monarchy does not return".

On this sunny day, demonstrators have hit the street to request the declaration of a republic

The ULF and the SA have been in favour of this proposition, however, constitutional changes will need the help of the conservative forces. The issue has already been taken to the parliament, with no clear outcome so far.

Communitarist Alliance Calls for Pro-Monarchist Demonstrations

Meanwhile, the Comunitarist Alliance has called for a "day of our monarchy", which has also attracted sympathisers. "This is the oldest monarchy we are talking about, these leftist terrorist want to completely overtake our country, our traditions, the most valuable bond that sticks our nation together" says a 72-year old women at the rally. A spokesperson of the CA has been stated saying "they might try to overrun this country, but we will stay firm".

And how does the royal family react? So far, there has been no official statement from the royal family. At the annual hunting season, the media coverage has been usually immense. But this time, no critical questions where allowed.

The Drama Continues

Postby pavelpipovic » Tue Aug 27, 2013 7:52 pm

Stalemate in the struggle for the Republic

After having taken important first steps, the government has navigated itself into a stalemate in the abolition of the monarchy.
It all started well for the libertarian-anarchist coalition. In a first round of constitutional changes, a 3/4 majority voted in favour of changing the wording in Endralon's structure of the executive branch. This means that theoretically, the head of state does not need to be hereditary anymore, chopping off one of the pillars of Endralon's monarchist system. Surprisingly and against all odds, the Conservatives voted in favour of this proposition. The ULF initiated the bill and also proposed a shorter legislative period. Strategically, according to political analysts, this step was meant to attract the vote of the Conservatives. However, insiders say that the Syndicalist Alternative was not privy to the ULFs plan. Yesterday, the ULF pushed further and proposed to install a president as head of state. Again, the SA seems not to have been involved in the proposition. This might lead to tensions within the anarchist camp. "We said we would like to get rid of the monarchy, however, we feel the ULF has taken too quick steps. Who says that the head of the state should be a president?", asks Henryk Bothers, moderator of SA's anti-monarchist Think Tank in Jovan. "Let us first establish that the head of state should not be the king anymore and formulate alternatives". The SA is currently holding urgent meetings all over the country to advise about the continuation in this matter. The second proposition in the round of constitutional changes has proven to be less successful. Here, the Conservatives have voted against the proposition. "Where are the conservatives, with us, or against us?" asked Ho Chi Phung, Minister of Education and Culture today in parliament. "First they say no to the hereditary system, then they say no to the democratic system of representation. We need to ask ourselves where this party's integrity is." So far, the conservatives have not commented on their voting behaviour.

The Communitarist Alliance, however, never had doubts about its stance on monarchy. Its ties to the house of Syldavia is no secret. However, for the first time for a long period, the CA has lost its government mandate and it is hard to tell whether it can form a firm opposition to the ongoing changes.

Image
Leaders of the SA at an urgent retreat in Douma

Meanwhile, the tension in Endralon is building up. First reports of clashes between anarchists and monarchists have been reported in the capital city Syldavia. The pictures remind of a dark past in the country's history. "I am really scared all our achievements in terms of democracy are in danger now" says a young consultant from Hotta. "one of the parties will have to make a compromise, but I wonder who". The Minister of the Interior, Simone Ferriers, tries to put oil on troubled waters: "no, history is not repeating here, the way it looks now, this coalition has and for the foreseeable future will keep a majority in parliament. The only thing we need to do is to be patient. We will succeed at last".

Image
Endralon's capital has become the scene of confrontation between supporters and opponents of the monarchy

At the end of the day, the house of Syldavia stays in place, however, it is difficult to say in which position. In parliament, things seem far from being definite. This proposition is not new in Endralon. "We should keep in mind that this country is torn between the left and the right, and in the last years since the ULF took over, the left is stronger, and opposition parties had a hard time to form" says Margot Tweebeen, editor of the political Magazine Pelican. "But the left is not strong enough to take the absolute majority. This is going to be a long and difficult process, and only one side will take it all."

Fears that parliament will not be the only deciding factor in this drama have been affirmed in the last days. The SA has already been built on shaky grounds, since this stalemate risks proving those anarchists right who do not believe in parliament in the first place. The same ones hitting the streets lately.

'We will keep supporting the House of Endralon!'

Former minister of foreign affairs for the CA, Sandra Vandenbulcke, has responded to the recent political tension about the abolishment of the monarchy in Old Endralon. 'We blame the libertarians and the syndicalist for creating this tension among the public. The people of Endralon had no problems with the House of Endralon until they created the illusion that our monarchy would be undemocratic. Endralon is a parliamentarian democracy where our monarchy has merely a ceremonial status. We have set up important international relations thanks to our Royal family. If the leftist want to change the constitution, we are open for any proposal. But we will keep supporting the House of Endralon as our head of state. Imposing these radical constitutional changes unto the House of Commons without any preparations and debate are not well received with us!'
