STRAPOS fully operational
Image

The Air Force successfully launched the fourth Space Based Strategic Positioning System (STRAPOS) satellite on a Super-HS launch Vehicle from Space Launch Complex Deltabor here.
“The successful launch of Flight-4 is the reward for years of hard work put in by our combined government and industry team,” said Air Force Col. Dennis Bythewood, director of the Remote Sensing Directorate. “Putting this fourth STRAPOS satellite on-orbit is the capstone event for the original STRAPOS baseline constellation, and I’m proud of everyone involved. Without their perseverance and dedication to the mission, this wouldn’t have been possible.”

The spacecraft separated from the upper stage approximately 43 minutes after launch. Following separation, the spacecraft began a series of orbital maneuvers to propel it to a geosynchronous earth orbit. Once in its final orbit, engineers will deploy the satellite’s solar arrays and antennas. The engineers will then complete checkout and tests in preparation for operational use.
The capabilities STRAPOS Flight-4 brings to the nation are ushering in a new era of satellite warfare. STRAPOS Flight-4 will continue to provide global, persistent and taskable strategic positioning enabling the nation and its allies to have increased global situational awareness for years to come.

MICON launch failed, more developement needed
Image

The launch of the first MICON satellite has ended in a tragedy. The launch occurred on time, with the Super-HS lifting off as per usual in its dramatic fashion. However, the rocket almost immediately veered to one side, before trying to correct itself, in turn sending it veering in the opposite direction. The vehicle then flew horizontal, before starting to plummet back to Earth, with its engines still firing. Aerodynamic stress saw the payload fairing and upper part of the rocket collapse and disintegrate before the rocket crashed back on to the pad complex. NEŰI-ASK and VASA confirmed no injures, noting the impact occurred in a safe area that was evacuated for the launch and all personnel are reported to be unharmed. From early reports, there was no damage to the launch pad 39 or near the impact area; there is only minor damage to nearby buildings. NEŰI-ASK is investigating the accident.

KEDA builds new missile defense base
Image

KEDA will commission a new missile defense base in southern New Edralon on Friday, one of two land-based interceptor sites for a KEDA missile shield. The base represents a expansion of the KEDA influence in terra.

The base in Porteşí will be the first to use the RW395 ballistic missile defense system, a land-based sophisticated radar tracking system installed in New Endralon since 4214. Then a very controversial project, KIZARM had bribed multiple politicians to sell the, then useless but immensely expencive, radarsystem to the Three-Lingual Federation, has now finally a use. The RW395 works in the decimeter range (UHF) and was designed by KIZARM. It has a range of up to 10,000 km and is capable of simultaneously tracking 500 objects. Its maximum range is 10,000 km. Its horizon range is 6000 km and vertical range is 8000 km. At a distance of 8000 km, the radar can detect targets the size of a "football ball" according to CEO of KIZARM, Grigore Parasca. Now, another radar system is added for helping the anti-ballistic missile to the hostile missile.

Scheduled to become operational by the end of next year, the base -- which is housed within a larger New Endrolian military installation -- will be staffed by several hundred New Endrolian, Trigunian, and Egelian military, civilian and contract employees. A second site, in Trigunia, is scheduled to become operational by 4378. Capt. Petros Georgescu will become the site's first commander on Friday, officials said. The site is part of a KEDA missile defense shield pursued by multiple administrations as a defense against short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles from rogue states. The current "phased, adaptive approach" for missile defense in Keris will be based on ship-borne interceptors until the permanent land sites become fully operational. It calls for regular upgrades to interceptor technology and relies on an improving network of land- and space-based sensors. KEDA warships equipped with anti-missle systems began making regular patrols in the Sea of Deliverence in 4271. They will track the airspace during the building of the base. The site at Porteşí will hold 24 Standard Missile-3 interceptors of the Block IB variant.

New Endralon creates new departement in military, Apărarea Cibernetică
Image

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION, New Endralon - It's not the kind of offer you'd expect the commandant of the Special Forces to make. "Anybody in here a hacker?" Gen. Laurensiu Olteanu asked, looking around the basketball court at marines crowded into a semi-circle, as afternoon sunlight streamed in. "If you are, come see me, because I'll give you a re-enlistment bonus. I'm serious. I'm looking for people who know how to do that."

No hands go up, but the offer stands, and the Marines know Olteanu will be back later that evening for one-on-one conversations. Special Forces leaders have been vocal about their desire to build more cyber capabilities into the force. Now the time has come, New Endralon will make a whole new departement, next to the navy, airforce and land forces, specialised in cyber.

An expected 1,000 Cyber-Marines, specialised in the cyber and electronic warfare communities and other skilled specialties, will join the new branch. And Olteanu, eyeing a complex future fight in which network jamming may be more important than artillery firepower, wants even more. In a series of conversations with Marines during visits to various deployed units in late December, he laid out a way forward for the Special Forces that would ensure the service makes the most of these highly trained, specialized Marines and canvasses the population for all available talent.

For these Marines, many of whom will be recruited for the specialty, tours that require time away from the primary duty, such as drill instructor or recruiter, won't be part of the career path, he said.
And prospective Marines who want to work in the cyber field won't have to contend with the capricious nature of the military occupational specialty assignment process. Olteanu wants them to be able to get a contract for the field, particularly if they're graduating college with a relevant degree. "They'll say, 'I want to do this,' and as long as they make it through and pass all the tests, that's what they're going to do," he said.

The Marine Corps is going to step up its recruiting efforts for fields such as cyber as well, Olteanu said. He compared future recruitment for cyber to current recruiting campaigns for Special Forces Special Operations Command, where screeners make visits to bases around the country to assess Marines from any specialty who meet qualifications. There are other ideas that have been floated for growing the elite cyber force. Some have also proposed a "direct commission" model in which cyber professionals are brought into the service without having to go through entry-level training prerequisites.

The biggest unsolved challenge, though, is how to compensate troops adequately in a profession that regularly earns six figures in the civilian world. Olteanu said the service is still working to find ways not only to bring people in, but also to convince them to stay for a career. "We are far and away the youngest force, far and away the lowest number of officers to enlisted. The Marine Corps of the future, we're going to get a little bit older. It takes longer to grow these people," Olteanu said. "So there's a business side ... We've got a way ahead of us here."

Serviciul Kizenia/New Endralon de Informații Reports: No ICBM's in Klavia
Image
Highlighted section shows "undulating skin" near the nosecone of a Klavian 'rocket'

Missiles paraded through the streets of Klavia Civitas Magna in recent displays of Klavian military might -- said to be capable of hitting targets throughout terra and even in the Confederation -- are incapable of flight and are almost certainly nothing more than fakes, according to the Serviciul Kizenia/New Endralon de Informații and independent experts.

"My opinion is that it's a big hoax," Marku Lahovary, a military analist, said of the intercontinental and medium-range missiles displayed in the Klavian capital.
Serviciul Kizenia/New Endralon de Informații experts, having reviewed unclassified images from the most recent parade. “Our assessment is that what we are looking at is most likely simulators used to deter enemies of Klavia,” according to a statement. The experts, who spoke on condition of anonymity, would not discuss the methods used to make their determination.

The Zyldavian Times asked Serviciul Kizenia/New Endralon de Informații experts and independent military analysts, in Keris and overseas, to examine high-resolution images of the ICBM taken at a military parade. The consensus: The displayed missiles were built for show, not for flight. Lahovary, who wrote a detailed report questioning advances in Klavia's missile program last year, said that images were just as unrealistic as those he saw when the ICBM made its debut in at an earlier parade.
For example, he noted, there was no evidence on the rear of the ICBM of retro rockets necessary to separate the stages – critical if an ICBM is to reach sub-orbital space and strike distant targets.
Lahovary also said varied features on the rockets – such differing placement of small guidance nozzles and hatches – are telling. They make him believe that these are "crude fakes."

He also pointed to another discrepancy that would make the missiles less airworthy -- "undulating skin" near the warhead on one.
"Upper-stage missile skin has got to be really smooth, or else it sets off high-speed turbulent air flow that can both heat the region – and the hardware inside it – and also create localized drag effects that can pull the missile far off attitude (direction), or even pull it sideways and thus lead to loss of control and disintegration," he said.
Experts also note that the ICBM, a ballistic missile ostensibly capable of reaching targets up to 2,200 miles away that has purportedly been around for 2 years, has ever been flight tested.

Confederacy trains Egelionese soldiers
Image

Demar Solad, Egelion – 120 Confederal Army soldiers deployed to Egelion's Army’s School of infantry to train more than 2000 Egelionese soldiers for seven weeks. Facilitated by the Confederal 4th Division, eight Security Assistance and Training Management Organization, Deltabor, Tiania soldiers teamed up with soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Endrapoly, to share ground-combat tactics with the Egelionese Army’s Infantry Battalion.

“We brief them the mission, conduct the lane and follow it up with an assessment,” said Capt. Miron Marandici, the Confederal Army officer-in-charge of the training course. “Sometimes, the assessment is brutal. We do not sugarcoat it. If there is a better way to conduct a mission, they need to know. Honest and direct feedback is best.”

“We’ve seen movement to contact on a particular objective,” said commanding general, Brig. Gen. Laurentiu Grigorescu, referring to a maneuver he observed during a visit. “We’ve seen platoon-level movement principles being guided by our [Confederal Army] cadre in terms of their combat experiences, but also bringing in the Egelionese Army’s experiences.”

The Confederal Army training team developed the comprehensive seven-week course following an invitation from the Egelionese government. Instruction included offense and defensive tactics such as reacting to contact, countering an improvised-explosive device, and seizing an objective.

The training also offered operational planning geared toward young Egelionese lieutenants including leadership skills, orders production, and the one-third/two-thirds planning rule (meaning: if there are six hours to plan a mission, officers should plan for two and give their soldiers at least four hours to conduct their own planning and preparations).

“[The infantry training course] is an opportunity for us to contribute to the capacity building of our partner nation,” Grigorescu said. “To further their skill-sets and to take that into the field, into the fight.”

“The significance of this training cannot be underestimated,” said Marandici. “We developed the training program according to the Egelionese Army’s needs. We will push them because their life may depend on it.”

The Confederal/Egelionese infantry training has significant implications outside of on-the-ground tactical maneuvers. This bilateral military-to-military training carries diplomatic weight showcasing the Confederacy's and Egelion's commitment to its KEDA partners.

“Together they’ll make a strong, cohesive unit as they conduct this training event,” Grigorescu said.

Explorator opens factory in Indrala after signing of Comprehensive Free Trade Treaty

Image

Hazhou - After the signing of the Indrala-New Endralon Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement Explorator has opened a new factory in Indrala. While Explorator has a relatively big market share in Keris, the CEO of Explorator has expressed his ambition to expand Explorator into the international market. As Explorator is strongest in the cheap sector Explorator needed to expand into less rich countries, but which are wealthy enough to have cars. Those nations are mostly found in Seleya. Explorator is believed to experience some big competition with Bönning in Valruzia (and its subsidary Avignon) and Xiandai Group in Indrala, as both companies are big names in Seleya. However, the CEO of Explorator is positive; “We believe that there is a big gap in the lower segment of the car industry, and we will fill that gap."

The Explorator Hazhou facility is arranged over 300 hectares and has an annual capacity of 340,000 vehicles, running six days a week with a staff of 8000 people. It builds all Explorator models: the Viata, Liberta and Nova. The completed cars are transported by a new rail line directly to the dockside, from where they are shipped around the world, predominantely Seleya. But the real achievement of the Hazhou plant is its energy efficiency. More than 90% of its power comes from renewable sources – and this is not an assembly operation. The body panels are pressed from rolls of steel and welded and painted on site. The hillsides around the factory are dotted with wind turbines. When at full capacity, it’s estimated they produce 10 times the amount of electricity needed by the plant. But as well as electrical energy for robots, welding, lighting and so on, the factory needs thermal energy sources, especially for the paint shop. The factory’s biomass heating plant has three boilers and a total output of 18MW. These send out water at various temperatures, including high-pressure super-heated water for the paint ovens and hot water for the paint booth and conditioners. Providing water in this way is energy intensive, so coming up with a renewable method required a solution described as “unique in the automotive industry”. The biomass plant burns wood from the pallets used in the delivery of components.

Moreover, Explorator says some 45% of the energy used in the Hazhou paint shop is recovered. It uses two unusual new techniques. In the painting cabins, ‘thermal wheels’ (which are made of pierced aluminium, measure six metres in diameter and weigh six tonnes) heat up the air being drawn into the cabin, with the heat of the exiting air resulting in, claims Explorator, a 60% energy saving. Thermal exchangers are used in the paint shop’s heating chambers, which run at 150deg C, for a 20% energy saving. The plant also boasts that it has “zero industrial effluent discharges” by recycling 100% of the industrial waste water using ‘reverse osmosis’ and ‘evapo-concentration’, reducing the plant’s overall water consumption by 70%.

This is a big difference from the New Endralonian factories. Indrala enforces mandatory recycling for all industries and requires private companies to dispose their own waste. Explorators respons to those regulations is having as little waste as possible. As Indrala funds recycling facilities and subsidises renewable energy sources, Explorator has requested subsidies for the wind turbines and Industrial waste recycling facility. It is unknown if they will be granted.

AeroVianu designes new fighter for Confederal Airforce
Image
Small size model of the designed fighter

Săteni - The AeroVianu company has announced that they will design and build a new plane for the Confederal Airforce. The news was long anticipated, as AeroVianu had bought the factories from the broke Mahati. The proposed design is a light, supersonic, multirole fighter. It is comparable with the PF-24, but this time the confederation is not dependant on other nations for spare parts. It can also build more planes in wartime.

The aircraft is a high wing monoplane with side air intakes. It has one fin and one engine, although two fin two engine versions have been developed. The aircraft is fitted with a turbofan engine with afterburner. The fighters are fitted with multi-track, multi-mode pulse Doppler radar. It has look-down, shoot-down capability. Other radars can be fitted. This aircraft is intended for air defense and ground attack missions. It is armed with a single 23-mm or 30-mm twin-barrel cannon. Maximum weapon payload is about 3.2 t. There are five hardpoints and two wingtips for missiles and fuel tanks. The jet has beyond visual range attack capability. Its primary weapon are medium-range air-to-air missiles with active radar-homing. Aircraft also carries short-range missiles, mounted on wingtip rails. The multi-role fighter can also carry general purpose of laser-guided bombs. The aircraft has no in-flight refueling capability.

Fusion of the Three Major Airlines creates TAROM
Image

Cetatea Alba- The three major airlines in the confederation, Raducioiu Cargo, OlahAir & MondragonFly have fused to create a new airline, TAROM (Transporturile Aeriene Raducioiu Olah Mondragon). The airline will have to compete with the bigger companies like LOT Valruzian Airlines, Indralair or Northern Airline Systems. Experts predicted this fusion years ago as all three airlines were losing ground to the bigger airlines. This fusion is really neccesary as the advantages of the increased size could make TAROM a bigger player in the airline sector. But still, it will not be as big as the major international players for a long time. Indralair and LOT Airlines are too strong to compete with.

TAROM main hub will be the airport in Cetatea Alba, already build in the east (New Endralon) of the city. The other airport hub will be located in Martivaros, an industrail province with lots of tourist atractions. Martivaros is in tourists per year second only to Cetatea Alba. The airport in Martivaros will be build in 2 years, and will replace the old airport which can not handle the modern planes. But while hubs are used by TAROM, it's distinctive feature is that it has lots of small airports located everywhere in Keris. That increases point to point service and increased customer satisfaction.

But this has some drawbacks. Because of the many 'focus cities', planes are loaded with less load, and therefore smaller. Smaller aircraft usually have a shorter range, and therefore TAROM does not offer flights to Southern Seleya, most destinations in Majatra, Temania and Vascania. The Confederation has stated they are pleased with the fact that TAROM is investing in new airports and routes. The government hopes that this will increase tourism to the Confederation. That's why they have rushed all permits, which has received some critisism from the opposition.

MateShipping will redefine the shipping industry
Image

Martivaros, 4372 - The newly formed MateShipping will transform the shipping sector. That is what CEO and founder Milán Máté promises us, when we ask about the future of this brand new company. This marine shipping startup has raised millions from investors as it seeks to become the "ruler of the oceans." But what is it that makes this company so special?

International freight forwarding has been dominated by small businesses (with as exeption Istalian shipping giant Hasan Aeductus World Shipping), with most of them relying on antiquated systems including paper logging, faxing, and calling up carriers to coordinate their supply chain. Though digitizing the paperwork involved and automating processes seem like a plausible idea to navigate this mess, implementing it on ground zero is a lot of hard work.
MateShipping, a freight forwarding company headquartered in Martivaros, is modernizing global trade through a combination of software and human expertise. It provides its clients with real-time shipment tracking, analytics, and a proactive issue management solution that helps businesses to transport their cargo around the world efficiently.

“Freight forwarding and international logistics are often overlooked as important industries, even though global trade is one of the biggest and oldest industries in the world,” said Máté. “Over $1.1 trillion is spent every year on international freight forwarding services. If you look around, you’ll see why: It’s likely that no matter where you are sitting right now, every item in your line of sight was at some point transported by a plane, truck, ship, or train.” MateShipping helps to streamline and automate the inefficient process of freight forwarding, by digitizing supply chains for seamless global trade. Businesses get to expedite shipping while having greater visibility and control over their cargo, along with lower transaction rates and cheaper prices.
Image
With regard to competition in the market, MateShipping is a notch above the rest. “The majority of the incumbents within the industry have been around for quite a while, so MateShipping as a relatively young company, has the advantage of being built with modern, home-grown software from the ground up,” said Máté. “Because of that, we’re able to offer an improved client experience that’s based on providing maximum value to them as their logistics provider. Presenting these options to customers in the market enables them to decide which provides more value for their particular company, and we try to optimize around that.” MateShipping has a 360-degree business perspective, handling trucking and delivery, ocean and air freight, customs clearances, cargo insurance, quality inspections, and warehousing needs. These processes yield a lot of data, which they can leverage for creating better data analytics solutions.

“The two biggest things that distinguish MateShipping from our competitors are the technology we use and the service we provide. Our technology plays a big role in enabling us to provide such great service, as it helps to increase efficiency across the board while reducing transaction costs and the likelihood of human error. Before Flexport, there was a lack of modern technology in the freight forwarding industry. This led to communication inefficiencies, wasted time, and redundant manual systems. All participants—including carriers and their customers—have suffered as a result. Flexport’s product is what the market has been lacking, and it was specifically created to fill that gap.”

Explorator increases value
Image
The new Liberta Nav+

Explorator is valued at NED 433.46 billion this year, up from NED 381.92 billion in 4371, according to a ranking of the most valuable car brands in the world. Explorator is third in a ranking where Valruzian brand Bönning has surpassed Xiandai as the most valuable car brand in the world this year, with an estimated value of NED 516.12 billion. The value of the Explorator brand has increased constantly in recent years, from NED 163.8 billion in 4342. This was due to the brand’s growing sales on international markets, pushed by the strong demand for cheap but reliable cars. Last year, Explorator sold over 4,655,000 cars worldwide, 12% more than in 4371, according the recently publicised reports. “Explorator is a brand that is loved not only in its home country. It has become incredibly popular on the Indralan, Aldegarian and Hutorian markets as well,” said Mihai Bogdan, Managing Director Brand Finance Kizenia. Last year, Explorator topped the ranking of the most valuable Kizenian companies.

Other news, Explorator has revised its SUV Liberta line-up and launched two new trim levels, expending the range to a total of three grades; Access, Air and Nav+. The new Air trim starts at £10,995 on-road and features air conditioning, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity, height-adjustable driver’s seat, 16-inch steel wheels, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, electric front windows, USB and AUX connections, and front fog lights as standard. The new Nav+ trim starts at £13,095 on-road and, in addition to the Air, adds a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system with satnav, rear parking sensors, reversing camera and 16-inch alloy wheels. It also features electric rear windows, heated and electrically-adjustable door mirrors, on-board computer and a leather steering wheel.
Access and Air versions of the Liberta are available with a 1.6-litre 115hp petrol engine. The Nav+ is available with a 125hp petrol engine or a 1.5-litre dCi 110hp diesel engine.

All versions of the Liberta can be specified with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. The automatic six-speed automatic transmission is only available on Nav+ trim with the diesel engine, priced at £15,495 on-road. The pairing returns fuel economy of 62.8mpg (NEDC combined) and CO2 emissions of 116g/km.
The new Liberta range, which starts at £9,495 on-road, is available to order now with first customer deliveries from April.
