Congress Party Collapse

The Congress Party has collapsed. Formed in 4892, the Congress Party espoused a Kizenian nationalist agenda that sort to enshrine Kizenian dominance with discriminatory policies against other ethnic groups. Additionally the Congress Party implemented measures to create a more powerful and unaccountable President. However, following catastrophic losses in the 4897 legislative election, the Congress Party was reduced to 14 seats in the legislature and minority positions in each regional assembly. Although the Congress Party head of state President Urzica called upon the international community to overthrow the election, with the exception of Dolgaria being the only nation to threaten to support him, the Congress Party did not appear to have a plan, or the stomach to complete electorally for the future of the Confederation of New Endralon and Kizenia.

However, the President of the Council of Ministers Borbély Bálint had the following to offer;

Although there should be some satisfaction in the disappearance of the fascist Congress Party, there is not. It is important for liberal democracy to function that there are competitive elections. I had hoped that the Confederation would go down the route of Egelion and become a mulitparty democracy. Instead we shall continue to traverse the route of Dolgaria and become a one party state, albeit at least we are one that believes in multiculturalism and does not threaten its neighbours with military build ups. We ask the people of the Confederation to hold us true to the liberal democratic values we all share.

Proposals for increased ethnic and religious diversity in the Confederation

The Education and Culture Minister Miksa Gergely has announced new policies designed to increase the ethnic and religious diversity in the Confederation. Two proposals have been introduced to the legislature that will encourage immigration from a range of countries and encourages new Hosian denominations to proselytise in in the Confederation. Miksa Gergely discussed that the Confederation should not be afraid of new ideas or new people coming to the Confederation to help enrich our beautiful nation.

The Zyldav Times certainly welcomes the proposals to bring more people into the Confederation from select nations and we think that it is a good idea that the government is to set up Kizenian language schools to help missionaries preach and set up new Churches in the nation. Onwards with progress.

Peoples Party Win Elections

March 4900

Not completely unsurprisingly following the collapse of the Kizenian nationalist Congress Party the Peoples Party have triumphed in the recent legislative elections. Slightly more interestingly New Endralon now has a new President with the unopposed election of Krisztina Miksa. President Miksa had the following words at her victory address.

To the people of this brave Confederation, I promise to be a President for all, a President who does not call on Foreign Powers to intervene in domestic politics, a President that doesn't seek to obliterate the culture of minority groups. I accept that the Confederation has become a one party state, but it is my belief that this is only for the short term. I will call upon the new legislature to vote in new constitutional amendments that will shorten the Presidential and legislative terms to two years to allow for greater accountability for the electorate. I will also double the size of the legislature to allow a higher ratio of elected representatives per person. I hope this changes will encourage new parties to come forward. I love you all and I love the Confederation.

The Zyldav Times can only hope that new parties are formed soon. Single party rule is prone to corruption and abuse and we cannot abide corruption and abuse.

New Immigrants Begin to Arrive

Following changes to immigration laws designed to encouraged greater diversity the Confederation has witnessed a surge in arrivals from Northern Artanian nations such as Endralon, Kundrati, Dundorf and Aloria. The government has been keen to assist the arrival of newcomers with financial support and the establishment of new urban areas. Although the government has encouraged skilled immigrants it is aware that numbers of poorer and unskilled immigrants are also arriving and is working hard to ensure jobs. Fortunately the government had the good sense to preference Syldavian speakers who will not find a language barrier upon arrival and should settle in. Dundorfian speakers are aided by the fact that many in neighbouring Dolgaria speak Dundorfian dialects and there is some awareness of the language in the Confederation.

New Kizenian language Churches

The government scheme to encourage new Hosian denominations to spread in the Confederation has borne new fruit with increasing numbers of trained ministers now able to freely preach in Kizenian. The government scheme was designed to encourage the Likatonian based Reformed Hosian Church and Kalistan based Society of Brethren. So far several hundred ministers from Likatonia and Kalistan and other nations have travelled to the Confederation to receive the language training and new Churches have been planted in urban areas across the country. The government are pleased with the success of the scheme and have promised to continue to provide funding.

Increased Foreign Investment in the Confederation

December 4900

The governments latest foreign direct investment success has left to the building of new leisure centres across the Confederation by the Lievenian Trade Group. This follows the passing of new health care reforms that amongst other things has opened up the expansion of sports facilities through the encouragement of private sector investment in sports clubs

In recent years there have been increased efforts to attract foreign businesses with major multinational corporations establishing a presence in the Confederation, including the Buy and Use Corporation supermarket chain, the Open Banking Sector (Nyitott Bankszektorok) and the Eight Continents Airlines. Many of these multinationals are Headquartered in Endralon and the close relationship between the governing Peoples Party and Endralon has certainly benefited the Confederation through increased investment and trading opportunities.

Dundorfians Immigrants to the Confederation Prove Ideal Neighbours

In recent years the Dundorfian community in the Confederation of New Endralon and Kizenia has swelled following the creation of new immigration laws preferencing ethnic Dundorfians from a number of countries. These new immigrants have largely been welcomed into society and have brought valuable skills, particularly in agriculture, to some of the poorer and more remote parts of the Confederation.

Although seen by Dundorfians as a unified ethnic group, the Dundorfian community in the Confederation exhibits a wide range of diversity in origins. Most ethnic Dundorfians actually come from from either Dundorf or from neighbouring Dolgava. Smaller numbers come from nations such as Aloria and Dorvik, although there are Duntrekkers from Saridan and other smaller groups from many different nations. Religiously these newcomers are also largely split between the Luthoran Church of Dolgava and the Confessional Ameliorate Church of Dundorf.



Many Dundorfian have established traditional farming villages where they can practice a simpler lifestyle.

As a group many Dundorfians have begun to refer to themselves as Kerisian-Dundorfians, representing the creation of a new ethnic group in the Confederation. With a mostly shared language and observance of reformed denominations of the Hosian faith, there is much unity to this group. It is unlikely in the short term that Kerisian-Dundorfians will shed their Dundorfian language. However, despite the obvious differences with the rest of the population, it is our view that Dundorfians have been welcomed by their neighbours and recognised for their contributions to the Confederations. Long may we hope that this peace and harmony continues.

A new Census for New Endralon

May 4904

The government has vowed to implement an election promise to better capture data in order to help with planning services and investment over the next few decades. The governing Peoples Party had already implemented legislation to increase the data captured in the census. The President of the Council of Ministers Borbély Balint discussed that with so much change in New Endralon it was critical to capture it in order to better reflect the modern population.



The Civil Service announces it plans to implement and oversee the 4905 Census

The Civil Service have been allocated funds to oversee the project, which has been given eight months to conduct the census and begin to process the returns in time for publication later in 4905 or early 4906. The census is likely to pick up on the immigration of the last few years and commentators are expecting an increase in the number of Zyldavian speakers.

This paper urges all Zyldavian speakers to ensure that they accurately declare their ethnicity and spoken language. Gone are the days of ethnic Zyldavians declaring that they're actually Kizenian in order to avoid government discrimination. This census is the ideal opportunity to confirm our strength!

Presidential Election

January 4904

Unsurprisingly given that she was the only candidate President Krisztina Miksa has been reelected to a third term of office. President Miksa was excited that she had been given another term of office and promised that she would consolidate the reforms of the first two terms of office. However, the President was notciable ruffled when a journalist asked her why she didn't just do away with elections. President Miksa responded;

It is not my fault that the people are so happy with the government that they don't want to challenge u.s

Of course, with just 16.5% turnout at the last legislative elections it is unclear as to whether that is because the people are satisfied with the government or desperate for an alternative.

NEW PARTY FORMED

Luncasi, September 6, 4927: Federatie Tehnocratica is a new political party formed in Luncasi after the last election by some mid and lower level bureaucrats, junior clergy and untenured academics as well as some retired Navy officers and police officials. The initial party register ran heavily to those associated with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. According to Dominik Zamfir, the party secretary, there were also at least two farmers.

Formation of Federatie Tehnocratica appears to have been initiated by a group of people listening to election returns at the Lup Gri Bar & Grill in Luncasi who kept saying to themselves, “We could run things better.” Although that is a saying synonymous with bureaucrats throughout Terra, this group seems likely to give it a try.

Martivaros, February 26, 4928: Dominik Zamfir, Party Secretary of Federatie Tehnocratica, was in Sodali inaugurating a party chapter in Martivaros. Zamfir is emphasizing the party view that the way of the future for the Confederation can be all nationalities working together to insure a decent standard of living and a prosperous and peaceful nation.

Federatia Tehnocratica is hoping the New Endrolan segment of the population will be responsive to a message of unity and reject further divisiveness but is recognizing this is a gamble and narrowly focused nationalist parties may freeze them out of representation in the Konföderációs Közgyűlés.

The preferred issues for Federatia Tehnocratica are educational reform and business loans.

Luncasi, May 26, 4929: Tatania Vantu, Party Registrar of Federatie Tehnocratica, who was in Tiana inaugurating a party chapter in Luncasi at a meeting of likely prospects at the Lup Gri, issued the following statement:

Fundamentally, Federatia Tehnocratica is trying to hold the Confederation together. We want to make government work so the strident voices for hatred, separatism and ancient grievances will take a back seat and people will be willing to work together to have a better life.

We want to start with some educational reforms so as we return to prosperity everyone will have a chance to be part of it. Not left out in the cold.

The other area we are going to explore early is tax reform. We have a lot of tax revenue but the distribution of the tax burden is not in line with fundamental fairness.

We are convinced if the sovereign people believe life is improving they will work together to make it happen.

Portesi, August 30, 4929: Federatia Tehnocratica, a new party formed after last election, was won the most seats in the Confederal Assembly. Dominik Zamfir, Party Secretary of Federatie Tehnocratica, has been elected President of the Confederation. Responding to questions on the party agenda, Zamfir said:

Federatia Tehnocratica is primarily focused on holding the Confederation together. This is not to say we will not have a foreign policy or a military policy but that is secondary.

Our plan and our legislative agenda will be aimed at improving our standard of living so everyone can see the advantage of working together toward a better future. Our initial steps will be insuring the safety net is in place then taking steps to revive the economy.

Educating our sovereign people successfully and examining our tax structure are our immediate concerns. We do have enough money if we will start to commence to begin to spend it wisely.

REORGANIZING INTERNAL SECURITY

Interior Security Center, September 15, 4929: After meeting with security officials in the Interior Security Center in the Capital, Minister of Internal Affairs Dragoslav Fidatov responded to press inquiries on internal security changes. Asked if the Secret Police, generally known as the SSR or Royal Security Service, would be dismantled now that Federatia Tehnacratica was the ruling party, the Interior Minister stated:

I think rather not. With the omnipresent desire of many to form semiautonomous paramilitary units, it hardly seems like an appropriate time to quit employing the Secret Police. Really not the time at all. We need to know who wants to violently destroy the Confederation.

What we are doing at least for the time being is consolidating our national security agencies for better coordination of resources. The SSR has been an independent agency reporting to the Cabinet or the President of the Confederation or a committee or the General Directorate of Internal Security. The SSR will along with the National Police be part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Further, another independent agency, the General Directorate of Internal Security which manages our counter terrorism and our counterintelligence efforts and reports in a fashion similar to the Secret Police will be assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs as well.

As indicated, we are aware of efforts to form paramilitary units and intend to suppress them. We need to know what other plots are being cultivated to tear apart the Confederation and we intend to find out.
