Cetatea Albă, CNEKK -- Legiunea Națională Chizână (the Kizenian National Legion or LNC) opened the doors of its colossal new cathedral today. Dubbed "Catedrala Legiunii Națională" (Cathedral of the National Legion), the structure is the most impressive result of the so-called Legionary Faith movement, a new religious movement closely tied to the National Legion.

Adherents of the movement, dubbed "Faithful Legionaries" (who are said to currently number almost 7.4 million), flocked to the opening ceremony, where the Supreme Legionary Leader Ion Mihai Chizânescu delivered a fiery speech filled with xenophobic vitriol.

Critics have slammed the Legionary Faith movement as a dangerous cult, and its relations with the traditional, mainline Hosian churches have been strained since the movement's inception some 25 years ago.

Bogdan, a Faithful Legionary, told a reporter from the Kizenian Star, "It is amazing to be here for this experience. Profiting from the recently passed Legionary-authored "Freedom of Animal Slaughter Methods Act", the opening ceremony included a ritualistic frenzy of brown bear blood-letting and slaughter. Some 32 wild brown bears captured by members of the Balmoxis Battalion, a paramilitary group affiliated with the National Legion, were brought to the Cathedral and ritually dismembered, pieces of the bears' raw meat being devoured by Faithful Legionaries before the creatures had even ceased living. Many Faithful Legionaries wore bear furs and masks and danced as the bears were slowly killed.

"This is Kizenian tradition!" a large group of Faithful Legionaries chanted when a small group of animal rights activists attempted to disrupt the bear slaughter ceremony. The animal rights protesters were forcefully removed from the Cathedral of the National Legion.
