Corruption has decimated New Endralon/Kizenia, Gina Neagoe argues for extreme reforms


Cetatea Alba - Former government official, Gina Neagoe, has spoken out against the current government, and the political situation New Endralon/Kizenia has been stuck in for the past decennium. Reporters for the Zyldavian Times/Kizenia Star have spoken with the recently fired official; "it is even worse than you can imagine."

Neagoe: "NE/K is in ruins. Years of corruption have destroyed our economy, and decimated our influence abroad. We once stood tall above the other countries of Keris, and held a Security Council seat. But all of that is lost. The neglect of our country is unprecedented in our history. Once, we had one of the biggest car manufacturer of Terra, and we were the proud owners of the biggest shipping company in terra. But, when the Confederation was abolished, things went downhill fast. Our economy isn't the example for Keris anymore, our military is a joke for the great powers, and our people are suffering.

This all comes from our corrupt leaders, who have taken corruption to a higher level. Our members of parliament have the highest salary in the country, but at least that is transparent. We have high taxes, but low expenses. Our budget surplus is invested in, who else, the people in power. And we spend 8% of our GDP, more than half (!) of our government expenses at the military, but this is not seen in our actual military. No, our subs are rusting on the bottom of the sea, and our planes haven't flown in ages. God knows where it has gone to. This can't go on like this."

Answering our questions about what she will do about this Neague answers:" I want to return to the days of glory, the days of the Confederation. I am in the middle of restoring the Alliance of Liberals, the party responsible for the last iteration of the Confederation. We will remove this corruption from our government, and put the people responsible for this on trial for treason. We will participate in the upcoming elections, and I am positive that we will be able to get a majority."

The Kizenian political arena lacked for far too long a clear leadership from a leftist party to steer the wheel of the nation toward the proper direction. The nation is being plagued with many issues that the Social Democratic Party of Kizenia or in Kizenian "Partidul Social Democrat" will try to remedy. Between these is the institutionalized power of the corporations to oppress people, from innadequate laws to protect workers, from lack of laws to protect the minorities to lack of proper regulations and taxing system to keep the rich from getting too rich and poor too poor. The SDP will fight far and wide to provide people social democracy, transparency, equality, fairness, justice and individual liberty, by putting the stamp on the new party they will support a party that will fight for the people and for the nation. The nation needs many adjustments, especially on the economic policies says the new chairman of PSD, Vasile Ciobotaru:

We are here to tackle the hottest issues of our nation that our partners from other parties are too afraid to point out. At the first convention of PSD, the top priorities for the next elections were set to be: just economic policies, stronger public system and support of the growing industry without overly hampering it in the process.

Many people gathered praising the existence of the new party and many people are putting their hopes into the new party that promises a social democracy and a strong Republic under which everyone is welcomed to live under and be happy and free. The PSD is expected to sway the people from the current governing parties, tho some experts are skeptical and some stating that the party is not able to lead Kizenia well. Leaving all rumors aside, people put a lot of hope into the new promising party and the promising growing political career of Ciobotaru which ensures people he'll keep his promises and stick to his ideology and provide the best of the current situation for the people of Kizenia.

Short News From New Endralon and Kizenia

Cetatea Alba - The Alliance of Liberals have won the presidency and the majority in parliament. This comes as a great surprise for the new party, which sees it's return to the political scene rewarded with a majority. However, it is just short of the constitutional majority needed for a return to the Confederation. The main opposition party seems to support the current Commonwealth. Only time will tell whether the AL can push New Endralon and Kizenia to adopt the Confederation again.

Cetatea Alba - New Endralon and Kizenia is ratifying the Ananto Strait Comprehensive Accord (ASCA), all originating from a new stance on international policies. The new government tries to drastically improve the economy, by stimulating trade, removing regulation and taking an active stance in the international sphere. The ASCA fits in this new policy. MateShipping, formerly the biggest shipping company of Terra, has responded enthusiastic to the news. According to CEO Adam Kreanga, this will allow MateShipping to expand after decades of decline. The treaty allows New Endralonian/Kizenian ships to pass freely through the Ananto Strait, respecting international law. MateShipping claims that this will positively impact traveling time and fuel usage per trip.

Cetatea Alba - Environmental laws have been steady decreasing ever since the Alliance of Liberals have taken over. Although it has been met with resistance from both the opposition and the new Social Democrats, the A Munkáltatók Tanácsadó Testülete (MTT) (Luthorian: The Advisory Body of the Employers) has expressed it's support. The low environmental regulations will make producing in New Endralon and Kizenia significantly cheaper l, according to the MTT. This will encourage both international companies to move here, and will give national companies the power to compete and expand abroad. Especially car manufacturer Exploratory, another former international powerhouse, is expected to reap the benefits of these new policies. Environmental scientists have expressed concerns that this could significantly decrease the power of mother nature in New Endralon and Kizenia.

Opinion - How a party without seats has more influence than the biggest opposition party. The biggest opposition party in New Endralon and Kizenia has not significantly contributed to governmental policies since March 4695, when it blocked the Restoration of the Confederation. Ever since those days, it has missed several votes in parliament, and has not debated on the new policies at all. This is in sharp contrast with the Social Democrats, who haven't gotten any seats yet, but have proposed multiple bills to the parliament which, while not passing, have inspired the Alliance of Liberals into passing other bills which seem to compromise on certain issues. How can this happen? This occurrence has multiple reasons. First of all, the opposition appears to be unstable. Since losing its absolute majority, our journalists report of heavy fights within the higher ranks of the party. What will happen with these fights, and whether the opposition will survive is yet to be seen. Second, the new government has only recently taken over, and the Alliance of Liberals hasn't been able to change every policy, without overworking the ministries and social servants. And last, the Social Democrats are a danger to the Alliance of Liberals. The new party appears to have gathered a large following in a small amount of time, and the Alliance of Liberals might have taken action to ensure that next election won't hold the same fate for them as the current opposition. Their majority is at stake here. But for how long the Alliance will follow the Social Democrats is unsure, it is only a matter of time before their voters become dissatisfied with their vote for a party without a ideology.

With four years till the new elections, the Social Democratic Party held the second Convention over new matters. With this new clarification were brought upon other policies such as national identity, civil rights and international affairs, as such, Ciobotaru got his support from his peers reassured with a symbolic vote before starting the actual convention. Away from this, the PSD fixed all of their agenda, stating that the focus for the next elections will remain the same, but the PSD will support a new ideological wave supported by many Kizenian scholars called "Kizenian Republicanism". Explained in few words, the new ideology supports a Republic, not a Confederation, but which believes that is better both for Kizenians and other minorities if people live together under one nation, Kizenia, in which the central authority will provide safety and progress for all of the society's members. This means that a Republic will be more suited to run in Kizenia than the current Confederal attempts from other parties, which we see them a danger to our diversity and unity. The Republic will provide proper laws to protect all minorities and ensure an autonomous Kizenian state, free of division and fearmongering, the Confederation being no more than an excuse for lack of trust into people. If we would trust our people, there would be no more needed a confederation, the Kizenian government is here to help minorities nevertheless, the only difference is that the mambo jambo created by the old corrupted confederation are no more hampering the growth of the new fledgling Republic.

These are few of the arguments stated by the scholars and PSD members. The philosophy tho was met with skepticism and controversy, especially by some experts and minorities, fearing of a gateway for oppression and chauvinistic tendencies from Kizenians upon receiving a unitary state in their hands as absolute majority. Even if Kizenians make up only for 40%, some are fearing that the new policy would not work and pave the way to abuses, even some claiming the new wave of kizenian patriotic scholars using as inspiration the models from an older defunct party called "Avangarda" (the LRNC fascist ultra nationalist pro-Kizenian supremacy party), especially the relation of the thesis of the "Kizenian Republicanism" containing some paragraphs similar to the chauvinistic thesis of the old scholars and heavy language with nationalist feels. Tho some counter argue saying that these is purely fear mongering at best and that these are some baseless accusations, and as Voiculescu from the Institute of History and Sociology of Nepoleşti said "The new thesis presented by the Kizenian scholars are based on common sense, facts, history and have at heart best intention for this nation and the people", he telling more that even if the thesis looks similar to the old one made up by fascists and other extremists, "The new thesis is based on a compromise between the old values and the new values, Kizenians were the first to be here and they are a majority, thus the land is rightfully theirs, even if there are other minorities at hand, they came here by colonizing or other ways, as such they should not have the right to claim this land as theirs, though, we should not fall on the other extreme and hate/marginalize/discriminate these groups, and as such the great scholars supporting say (Constantinescu in this case) <<We are realizing the importance of the diverse cultural background and rich history filled with traditions, people and ideas, as such if there will be ever a state for Kizenians, they should promise protection for other minorities and ensure through a democratic Republic that the rights of all men will be respected regardless of their origins, everyone should be welcomed in Kizenia, our diversity is our strength!>>."

Despite this, the PSD stated their main focus will remain the same, tho they will try to establish a Republic in Kizenia and form a strong fledgling central government that promotes the interests of all people from Kizenia, not only of the few.

The Kizenian people came on the street in support of the Kizenian Republicanism, ideology backed by Kizenian scholars, patriots and the Social Democrats. The new ideology grew in the last decades, springing around 4641, when first book of Lucretiu Patrascanu, the founder and the most vocal scholar voice for Kizenian Republicanism published the book "Kizenia: between Confederation and Identity crises". The book talks about the right of Kizenian people to found own state, free from the need to cater to the minorities. In exchange, the ideology seeks to compromise and end the conflict between far right nationalists and confederalists, bringing best of both world: a Kizenian unitary republic founded on equality, liberty and prosperity, everyone will be accepted, included and given opportunity to prosper in the new Kizenian Republic, all under a fully open and fair democratic frame, where all people are equal before law and where Kizenians will form their own state that they all awaited.

The marches and manifestations for this new ideology became viral, especially among young progressive and liberal Kizenians middle-class, from 18 to 35 years old. Tho the new ideology is not welcomed by the older patriots, who are more chauvinistic and some still pledging allegiance to older parties and movements for liberation and independence, despite their authoritarian and oppressive nature. The new movement is scarring many minorities and opposite scholars as well, some stating that a Kizenian state will be a gateway for abuses against minorities by nationalists and xenophobes who wont hesitate to justify their actions through the new Republic system. The supporters of a Republic counter stating that the accusations on both sides are baseless, and that a Republic is more likely to protect the rights of minorities and less possible to anger the xenophobes than a Confederation, as well the extremist movements cant be stopped if there is no proper government to prevent it, regardless of what type of government (confederation or not), and if we re honest, most of authoritarian, royalist and xenophobic parties emerged to power during the incompetent rule of the Confederation.

The participants to the protests were peaceful and happy to participate in the activities and wave the new Kizenian flags if the nation becomes sovereign and form under a Republic. The flag is formed of horizontal stripes, from top to bottom: Green, White, Blue, White and Green. The flag is darker and without symbols on it. The young leaders are expected to continue the marches, related activities, cultural activities and more in espousing the new ideology supported by SDP of Kizenia, with Ciobotaru as the main vocal politician in favor of the implementation of the thesis of Kizenian Republicanism.

With the disbanding of the old party called Partidul Poporului Chizân, the Social Democrats proposed that new elections should be called to refill all the seats. For this the Social Democrats prepared a large campaign, well funded through finances given from the state and own money. The Social Democrats prepared their national agenda with a Manifesto as well citing the articles of a Republic if they win. The early elections tho were pushed further, at first without explanations, then it was clear that the Liberals tried to push reforms to form a Confederation even if this should had not happened, as such they delayed the elections in order to have the Confederation established. This most probably was the last straw from the liberals, with the upcoming elections millions of Kizenians and not only went to the ballot boxes and voted with the Social Democrats.

These elections brought separation of the HoS and HoG, as well 250 seats up for the grab. The elections were swept by the Social Democrats, as the results showed that in all Kizenian provinces, the SDP won majority of the votes, with over 60% of the popular votes being for the newly founded Social Democratic Party of Kizenia. The PSD won 170 seats out of 250, giving the new party a Constitutional majority and a landslide win against the Liberal alliance. This was unexpected by many, the people tho said their clear unquestionable support for formation of a Republic.

With this being said, the Kizenian newly elected president, first gay president of Kizenia, Vasile Ciobotaru said followings:

This victory was unexpected and heartwarming, seeing all the people giving their support for the ideals of a Republic, voting with the right party, the party of the people and the nation. They saw through the lies of federalism and of the liberals, saw through their bold decisions to push for reforms before Early Elections, blocking as well different bills that sought to improve people's lives and not only. It was clear that the opponents cared more or less about own interests than of the citizens. This was not quickly overlooked by Kizenians, whose ideals and needs were disregarded with brutality when the government voted for a fake Confederation nobody wants it anymore.

The Social Democrats after the speech held a small gathering and stated their plans for Kizenia, while the new government of PSD members is formed.
The SDP stated following items for their rule:
-Formation of the Kizenian Republic asap
-Greater improvement of living standards
-National projects to revitalize Education, Justice, Infrastructure and the Economy
-Foreign diplomatic missions and formation of alliances with multiple nations
-Work on the military and national security
-Workers rights improved against the corporate abuses

These are few of the plans proposed by the new party in power, in total disregard of the old party, that in the eyes of the people failed to bring reforms that the Kizenians needed. The SDP of Kizenia already started reforms in creation of the Kizenian Republic. New flags, anthem and not only we re proposed to the Parliament. The bill contains over 10 articles and is espousing all the needed changes into the Constitution. With these being said, the only thing left to do is to see whether the Social Democrats will hold onto power and if the people will be contented with the Social Democratic rule.

Alliance of Liberals decimated! Newfound Confederation gets replaced by the Republic only months after the election

Cetatea Alba - The Alliance of Liberals (AL) have only themselves to blame for these disastrous elections, where they lost their majority, and gave the Social Democrats the constitutional majority they needed to get the Confederation replaced.The Social Democrats have gotten 170 of the 250 seats in the Camera Unită a Deputaților, soon to be called Parlamentul Republicii (The Parliament of the Republic). There are multiple reasons for this landslide victory for the Social Democrats.

The campaign of the AL was simply terrible. Most funds were used in the previous election, where the AL came just short of a constitutional majority. The main issues for AL voters are free markets and liberty, where this legislative period was all about the Confederation, a topic which many voters don't really care about. Many voters became disenfranchised with the party, after the AL adopted many policies of the Social Democrats, such as healthcare subsidies for the poor. This resulted in AL voters not going to the elections, which resulted in the low turnout of 55.5%. On the other hand, the voters of the Social Democrats were extra motivated to vote, after all, this was the first leftist party in Kizenia / New Endralon for a very long time. When looking at the polls of both people who did vote, and who didn't vote, the Liberals and Social Democrats almost tie.

Another reason is the undemocratic reinstallation of the Confederation. After the end of the main opposition party, who went under in internal struggles, the Liberals were unopposed in the legislation. The Social Democrats asked for early elections, but the Liberals waited until the Confederation was restored. Lots of voters were unhappy with this procedure, where they weren't able to choose whether they wanted this Confederation or not. This won over many voters for the Social Democrats, and combined with the other reasons it ended with a landslide for the Social Democrats. Only time will tell whether the Liberals can come back.

The newly established leftist government started working very hard right away and planned a vigorous agenda for incoming years. Beside the plans in education, tourism, agriculture, business and installation of a Republic, the new SDP-led government is focusing on diplomacy. The new party is planning to strengthen the national army through reforms and international cooperation, establishment of new treaties of cooperation, free trade and more, as well planned state visits.

First, the Foreign Minister made an official meeting in Likatonia to discuss furthermore plans of joint plans in the future would be alliance between Likatonia and Kizenia. From the official reports, the organization is expected to gain more members as time passes on. The foreign minister said that he is optimistic about this and despite the lack of organization of the alliance so far now and the intense critique from the liberals, the officials are positive about this and they said that they've had long discussions with Likatonian diplomats on the matter and that the new TMTA alliance will materialize with the next planned Congress in 4700. With this in mind Kizenia hopes for increased security and cooperation with the members of the newly found coalition.

On the other half, the Kizenian government is planning an official visit to Dorvik with plans to further the good understanding between the powers, to discuss different matters such as better trade deals as well possible subsidies and support for the rebuild and reopening of various Kizenian armed industries that from neglect they've decayed. The government has plans with this to start a revitalization of the armed forces, through military training, purchases of new equipment and vehicles as well with opening of new factories that will produce Kizenian equipment and not only. The planned visit is on the 3 July, 4698. The visit will take some days and at it will participate the Foreign Minister, as well as the President and the Prime Minister Vasile Ciobotaru and Nicolae Ionescu, which will represent the government and the nation.

Meanwhile, the nation plans to withdraw from series of diplomatic treaties that are seen as outdated or irrelevant, many of whom are old treaties that are not anymore valid or up to date. The prime minister Ionescu told the media that upcoming ambitious plans are yet to come and that "unlike the liberals who create excuses for not working, we will give the best out of ourselves to provide for every Kizenian". The new operations from Cetate Albă relating the new Republic are yet to be done and published to the people. Vasile Ciobotaru announced that with these reforms prosperity and progress will come for the Kizenian people, while the Social Democrats started plans for the future anti-corruption institution that will supervise the state and ensure that the officials represent truly the interest of the people and not own. The new National anti-corruption Institute is yet to be formed, but great hopes are made for it, many specialists praising this long waited reform. The PSD stated that:
"This is just the beginning of what we plan to do". Miss Neagoe: "You can call me Gina if you want. Thank you for having me here at the best newspaper of Kizenia and New Endralon, and I am doing great, thank you."

"Alright then Gina, are you really doing great? You did lose the election and lost the battle between your Confederation and the Republic."

Gina: "Honestly, losing the election was a shock back to reality. But it was a necessary shock. Thanks to this shock we remembered what we really need to do in parliament, come up for our voters, and not keeping ourself busy with unimportant things as Confederations or Republics. And that is what we are going to do."

"And how do you see yourself in this picture? People have been calling for your resignation."

Gina: "I know that these horrible election result was my mistake, but that also means that I need to clean this mess up. I know what went wrong, and I can change this, I need to change this, for the good of our country."

"Our country? And how is this country called according to you? I thought I heard you mutter "Long Live the Republic of Kizenia" when the bill for establishing the Republic was discussed in parliament."

Gina: "You didn't hear everything I said. I said 'Long Live the Republic of Kizenia, New Endralon and Kuzaki.' Yes, they also live in this Republic. I am not going to forget 53% of the population. I am not going to see citizens as lesser than Kizenians, just because their ancestors of 3900 years ago were illegal immigrants."

"Well said Gina. What do you think is the most important issue in Kizenia and New Endralon?"

Gina: "There are a couple of issues that come to mind. First the new alliance the Social Democrats want to join. When I think of alliances, I think of KEDA, or the Northern Council. Those were/are great treaties, with strong militaries to build on, and articles that made sure nothing could go wrong. But this treaty doesn't have any of this professional backup. That doesn't mean that we are against, but we do have concerns about this new organization.
But this is not what the most important issue is. After all, most voters don't really care about this treaty, nor will it influence their lives much. No, the two most important issues are the economy and corruption. We need to improve our economy, using low taxes and a small government. We also need to stop the widespread corruption in our government."

"I see. Vasile Ciobotaru recently attacked the AL, saying that they didn't do anything to stop the corruption. What do you have to say to that?"

Gina: "It is absolutely ridiculous, and hypocrisy. We cooperated with the PSD during the entire term, taking over multiple proposals from the PSD. And now they claim we didn't do anything? We improved the criminal and civil liability of politicians and government officials, and we have just proposed a bill lowering politicians salaries and increasing the budget for the anti-corruption units. All that while the PSD has decreased the budget for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which handles the anti-corruption units, and increased the role of government in daily life. And all these lies from the PSD are written in the national newspaper WE proposed. This newspaper was supposed to be an objective newspaper. Luckily there is still the Zyldavian Times / Kizenian Star, because we can't trust the government to give us some objectivism."

The nation was rocked by a scandal after the first publication of the national newspaper called "News from the Palace of Democracy". The new newspaper was planned by a joint action of both parties to be a national newspaper owned by the state and which supposed to provide the fairest and objective reports onto different subjects and not only. Though, the first number of the new piece of paper did not came without a huge scandal, especially after possible left-leaning biases we're spotted by some readers and not only. The Liberals counter attacked the last report of the "News from the Palace of Democracy" in their publication "Kizenian Star/ Zyldavian Times", stating the exact issues with the last publication.

What followed was an immense scandal that went viral in all the nation and soon the Social Democrats had to react to the accusations. Despite the situation, the officials from the governing party stated that they will take actions and let a research to be undergone in checking the possible BS and political propaganda behind the last publication from the national newspaper. The officials told that anyone found responsible for this risks from losing the job to being in jail if their found with collusion, as well the newspaper risks a huge fine in NEDs if the accusations are validated. The new organization against corruption, the National anticorruption Initiative will as well inspect the case, for possible bribes and even more.

The current president of the new emerging Republic of Kizenia, Vasile Ciobotaru, gave a speech in front of the government building, in front of the journalists stating the followings:

We do not deny the accusations, we think that is critical that anyone found guilty shall be punished by the law. One thing clear people, the Social Democrats do not back corruption or acts like this. We do not believe in such heinous values and even if some of our members might had done the unthinkable. We will continue our good work so far now as government and meanwhile we will do our own party searches for possible holes in our system. We will promise the highest standards and ensure the best of ourselves in serving our people.

The reporters asked what he'll do as chairman of PSD if this scandal might ruin the image of the Social Democrats, in return he answered shortly "I do not know, the accusations are yet to be validated". The cameramen and the journalists then followed to his personal car from where he left. The case is still going and even with desperate tries from the Social Democrats to repair their image, many think that this is a bad way to start as governing party, alongside mistakes regarding the national budget, which is at the fourth proposal, this time from the Liberals who gave solutions for the governing party, an embarrassing situation, knowing that the opposition is teaching the government how to govern properly. The relations between the two parties cooled down, tho is to be seen how PSD will react to the recent events and the growing tensions in Kizenia.

In other smaller news, the Social Democrats proposed higher taxation and regulations, alongside more pro-syndicate laws. Specialists on both sides have split opinions about this. The liberals claim that these laws will hamper economic growth, especially the new income tax code and the laws laid on the business, the liberals and not only fear that foreign investors will be driven away alongside industries collapsing under the weight of the regulations, and even bigger threat from the government nationalization plans, harshly criticized by the opposing party which claims this will lead to corruption.

On the other side the leftist economists from PSD and other specialists state that these reforms will create a new foundation for a system in which both good from Capitalism and Socialism are combined in a democratic system in which people are given equal opportunities in becoming innovative members of society and the current reforms wont have a negative impact and that on the future these reforms will reward Kizenia with high standards of living and a thriving economy. Other common people rejoice the new laws as well as a National Healthcare Service is put in place, public pension systems assured and not only.

Tho these reforms are yet to be seen what effects will have on the economy, as much as we want to predict, we will have to wait and see, especially after the new plans regarding economic growth from the Social Democrats.
