Confederation and a New Multicultural Dawn for New Endralon and Kizenia!October 4898
New GovernmentFollowing amendments to the constitution which removed cabinet creation responsibilities from the President the
majority Peoples Party quickly moved to elect a
new government. All cabinet positions have been taken by the Peoples Party, with leader Borbély Bálint becoming the new President of the Council of Ministers. The new government has vowed to undo the racist policies (see
here and
here) of the
Congress Party and build a Confederation that works for all regardless of ethnicity.
President Urzica Get HystericalThe loser President Urzica whose Congress Party amended the constitution so that he could serve a single ten year term has thrown his toys out of the pram in the Presidential residence. Threatening to
issue Presidential Decree No 1 the cry-baby President Urzica urged the international community to intervene in the Confederation to overturn the
landslide defeat experienced by his Congress Party. Interestingly the President declared that the new governments desire to introduce new legislation was "unconstitutional" as if elected political parties have no mandate to govern, but of course Presidents
that amend the constitution to benefit themselves clearly have the right to invite foreign nations to intervene in their own country (Editor: is this not treason? Surely a new low for the loser President Urzica).
Our cartoonists impression of President UrzicaNew MulticulturalismPresident of the Council of Minister Borbély Bálint has unveiled a series of policies aimed to end the racist policies of the Congress Party and implement a new multicultural direction for the Confederation. Firstly he has committed to overturn the racist Congress legislation that declared Kizenian the only official language across the
country and in
education. The Congress Party had also passed legislation that
preferenced the ethnic Kizenia Patriarchal Church, imposing restrictions on other Churches. The new President of the Council of Minister declared that;
The Confederation will be a nation that once again recognises the unity of the Three Nations. Kizenians, Syldavians and Kuzakians will be able work in their own language, have their children educated in their own language and worship in their own Churches supported by the state, with no preference. We are better when we work together and celebrate our differences, rather than bow down to one group. Kizenian is a beautiful language and the Patriarchal Church is an important part of our cultural inheritance, but Kizenian benefits from a vibrant Zyldavian and Kuzakian culture, not from repression. The three nations are at their best when they work together!
Amongst policies unveiled by the new government are measures to
criminalise hate speech, protect minorities in employment, ensure parity in
education for Kizenian, Zyldavian and Kuzakian speakers and to establish the
three historic Churches of the Confederation as co-equal official Churches with rights to run schools, enjoy tax exemptions and proselytise. Other legislation will offer some defence reforms and greater feedom in establishing schools outside of state control.
Foreign Minister Responds to Dolgarian Military Build UpThe Foreign Minister has expressed concerns at the
Dolgarian military build up along the border. The Foreign Minister has suggested Szekeres Géza has suggested that he meets with his Dolgarian counterpart to clear up any differences. The Foreign Minister added that;
The Confederation has no interest in interfering in the domestic politics of its neighbour states, whether they be
vibrant democracies such as Egelion or
one party states such as Dolgaria. The government of the Confederation firmly believes in national sovereignty and we urge friendly relations and cooperation with our neighbours. Respecting election results must be key to those friendly relations and cooperation.
The Foreign Minister discussed that he is keen to visit as many nations as soon as possible to demonstrate to Terra that a new democratic Confederation is good news for all.
Defence Policies Reinforce Commitment to PeaceDespite the aggressive build up of Dolgarian Armed Forces along the shared border the new Defence Minister briefed that the new government was fully committed to peaceful relations with its neighbours and would reconfigure the defence policies of the Confederation to
commit to a no first use policy on chemical and biological weapons and the imposition of restrictions on the Confederations Intelligence Services. It was hoped that these measures would serve to demonstrate to the Confederations neighbours that the Confederation was a peaceful nation committed to good relations, peace and stability.
Trade Minister commits to honouring historic Trade AgreementsThe new Trade Minister Bognár Sándor has committed the Confederation to pursuing freed trade policies to ensure that people have the best choice when it comes to goods and services. He outlined that he wanted to engage with all of the Confederations historic partners to ensure that Trade Agreements continued to be honoured. He also stated that it was his intention to organise a business and trade delegation to visit the
Republic of Endralon as he was concerned that the recent racist and anti-Endralonese policies of the previous government may have harmed relations between our two great nations.
