BREAKING: New Jelbanian Party Demands Liberal Future

Image
Klune T. Pshamazrk [left] speaks in front of a small crowd in the Capital.

The newly formed Jeztaghé Prta has demanded the abolition of the monarchy and the reestablishment of a free, liberal Jelbania, in the "true spirit of the Steppe people." The party, whose name translates to Party of the Steppe in Luthorian, calls for a federal autonomous model allowing the different hordes of clans to rule themselves and a return to the achievements of Noh Nohsmrko Vrn and his executive committee system of governance.

The new party would write a new constitution which vested power into the individual clans of Jelbania who would be given control over an array of policy ranging from taxes to civil liberties, whilst an overseeing Executive Committee would control maintain equality of the tribes and restrict potential conflict between them.

Klune T. Pshamazrk, the Steppe Party's defacto leader, and head of its Steppe General Committee spoke recently in front of a small rally in the capital of Baofluz:

This is what it means to be a Jelbek. A people wild and free with no form of centralised government imposed on them. The Jelbek tradtion preserves, simultaneously, both true individuality and strong community, and unlike any other nation in Terra is able to work within the framework of these contradictions. It is the local, familial nature of our clans, of our farmers and yet also of our citydwellers which defends the freedom of all Jelbeks from dangerous centralised powers, that would tell us what to do. Jelbania has an history of rejecting this autocratic model. Time and time again our freedom-loving peoples have stood up to such restrictive governance. We can and we must do this again and reestablish the only truly free Republic in all of Terra!

Nation Celebrates Major New Investment

September 4730

Jelbania's freshly restored landed oligarchy has received a massive boost in the form of a 10 billion LOD Kazulian investment in the country's port infrastructure. The deal which was signed just three days after the coronation of the newly elected Khan Jebr II qhom political analysts have described as the country's first ever constitu tional monarch. The investment will produce around 7,500 skilled and non-skilled jobs in the Khanate and enable it to export a greater quantity of its annual mineral output.

Legitimacy may remain quite elusive for the restored regime. Only landowners are allowed to vote or run for office. This leaves some 85% of the population in the cold. It remains to be seen if any economic growth produced by the extremely pro-enterprise political environment (the great mass of taxation and regulation have been removed) can provide another form og f legitimacy.
To live outside the law, you must be honest.

BREAKING: Steppe Party takes Two Provinces in First Election

Image
Many gathered to hear Klune T. Pshamazrk speak in light of the Jeztaghé Prta's strong election results.

Jeztaghé Prta has won the majority of votes in the Taghes of Rilmos and Baniray as they won thirty seats to the Jelbanian Kurultai. The party outperformed expectations in the elections, having been founded just two years ago. That being said, the ruling Jezkai party still has total control within Jelbek politics, winning 75% of the seats available.

The newly founded party had a strong election performance in the two Taghes which it carried, but failed to make any impact in the other three provinces within the nation, failing to win any seats in Perimor, Nemawar and Turadrad. Credit for the level success in Rilmos where the party won 17 out of the 24 seats has already been distributed to the party's rising star Azi Baotaghévraljogadkai, whose Baotaghévraljogadkai clan calls Rilmos home, thanks to a very well organised campaign; the party was able to successfully mobilise throughout region especially in some of the more mountainous parts of the region.

This has not prevented the Steppe Party from hailing the results, with head of the Steppe General Committee, Klune T. Pshamazrk declaring that the people of Jelbania were clearly ready for a return of "true freedom not known anywhere else in the world." The defacto leader of the party, spoke in front of a large crowd in Rilmos, and was joined by his son, Eksandr Klunesmrko Pshamazrk, who is the head of the regional party in Rilmos. Yet despite the celebrations, both men were clear to put significant emphasis on the need to build upon these results, and attempt to win an a majority in the Kurultai, with Eksandr K. Phsamazrk stating:

The ultimate goal is the return to a free Jelbania. And yet tonight we are still ruled by a King, with many of our tribespeople are unable to vote. The settled Baofluz elite with their large city mansions are still the ones in power. It is for this reason that we cannot get ahead of ourselves. We cannot rest until we have, through democratic means I must add, passed a new constitution, within which there is full power for the Clans, and nothing but the most limited of roles for the centre of government, and established full suffrage rights for our free people.

Likatonian Football Returns as Jelbania reignite rivalry with Old Foe

Image

Some sporting fixtures are so old that no one really knows where they first originated from. This can be true of many things, but perhaps more than most of the Likatonian Football annual fixture between the national teams of Jelbania and Likatonia. The yearly competition brings two otherwise completely unrelated nations with completely different cultures, and from two different continents and flings them together.

How the competition first came to being is anybody's guess. However, this year's installment promises to be an awesome affair. Whilst most years have been fizzed out into drab affairs, mainly due to the lack of following within Jelbania leading to a significantly weaker team than their Likatonian counterparts, the arrival of exciting prospect Lazr Salyzr has rejuvenated interest. Hosted this year in the Likatonian Capital, Clovisport the hosts seek to retain the title after a strong performance last year, storming to a 23-9 victory in Jelbania.

The competition will this year be broadcast nationwide after the Jelbanian News Corp. won the television rights for this year's competition. This will be the first time the game has been broadcasted nationwide in Jelbania this century.

OOC: As unrealistic as this may sound, this game is recorded on the Likatonia wiki page. I would genuinely be interested how this came about if anyone had any idea. https://particracy.fandom.com/wiki/Likatonia

Likatonia Win Tightly Contested Match

Image
The Likatonian Team celebrating after defeating Jelbania 22-20.

The Likatonian Football Team came out as victors in a close affair against their Jelbanian counterparts winning 22-20. Despite Jelbania rushing to an early 17-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two touchdowns from Jelbek favourite Lazr Salyzr, the Likatonian team slowly reeled in the away nation to take a dramatic last minute field goal victory.

Although for much of the match the Likatonian side outplayed their opponents, the initial lapse in concentration by the players, saddled with the close scoreline has led to renewed optimism that Jelbania may be able to go for the win in the reverse match in Baofluz in a year's time. "Naturally we are very disappointed about losing so late on," said a concillitory Salyzr, "But this a strong foundation on which to build on. I'm confident all the lads will be prepping for next year's game."

Watched in Jelbania by a TV audience of 9 million, organisers of the game hope that the match has inspired many Jelbanians to begin taking up the sport again. "We hope by next year that not only will Jelbeks come and support our team in Baofluz, but also that they will be playing it in their villages and towns," stated one organiser.

BREAKING: Steppe Party Storm to Supermajority Victory

Image
Klune T. Pshamazrk celebrates his party's victory in the recent elections.

The Steppe party have stormed to a supermajority victory in the most recent elections, claiming 106 of the 120 seats. Taking the nation by storm, the party gained nearly 90% of the votes as they promised to abolish the Monarchy, and reestablish a federal Jelbania. Winning all five Taghes, the party performed especially well in Nemawar, claiming all 24 seats available. Following the stunning election results, the Jezkai party, the only other party operating in Jelbania dissolved, leaving the Steppe Party in complete control. The Regional Commissioner, Hrne N. Idrgrsho said it demonstrated the region's desire "for autonomy and freedom".

Having stormed to victory, the party are already implementing wide scale changes to the constitution. Following through on their promise at the 2nd Steppe Party Congress to increase term limits, they introduced legislation the moment a government was formed. They also brought to the Kurultai new constitutional framework legislation to set up a new Governor-General, whose powers will be further confirmed when an official consitution is written.

It is thought that the party will now focus on attempting to reestablish the Jelbanian economy through a series of tax cuts and an international awareness program to highlight the multitude of Jelbanian companies able to compete on the world stage. The new government's minister of defence said that there will also be follow up legislation to the Military Delocalisation Bill, passed in 4737, which will confirm the role of the Clans in the defence of Jelbania and set controls and regulations regarding their purpose within securing the nation.

A triumphant Klune T. Pshamazrk spoke in front of a large rally following his party's sizeable election victory. Stating that the "only true free peoples of Terra had yet again won their freedom," Pshamazrk said his party would do its utmost to "reward the people with the prosperity they deserve." Pshamazrk himself is being touted as the clear and only choice for the position of Governor-General once the party's reforms are implemented, in a move that would align the structure of the country's government to the party's, though critics have already observed that this opens the door for a potentially dictatorial regime to be brought in through the back door. "Pshamazrk is a democrat, nobody can argue that," said a critic from Baofluz who wished to remain anonymous, "Yet his successor, whenever or whoever it is might not be. There is a whole generation of Steppe Party officials who will now be brought up in a One Party State where to enter government you have to be highly ranking in within the party. The system's at a clear risk of exploitation."

BREAKING: Jelbanian Likatonian-Footballer Lazr Salyzr Reveals He's Converted to Reformed Hosianism

Following the disappointment of the Jelbanian Likatonian Football team to bring home victory in front of a 50,000 strong crowd in Baofluz, Lazr Salyzr has claimed that he was consoled by Likatonian Preacher John Benton following the game, who encouraged him to turn to the teachings of the new Church. On a post on Tweeter, Salyzr, who is from a Hosian-practicing family stated he was "thoroughly convinced" by the message of Benton, stating that "salvation alone can be achieved through veneration of our God."

Salyzr's post resulted in #reformed to trend periodically in Jelbania, and has sparked both praise and condemnation in a nation which has a very complicated religious makeup. Whilst censuses repeatedly demonstrate a majority Ahmadic society with a minority Hosian population, many people are influenced and practice Tanhrism, which views the sky ("Tanhri") as the supreme eternal deity, with many lesser gods also worshipped. The extent, therefore, that Salyzr's announcement will have on Jelbania is questionable.

That being said, at a time of significant political change, this may be the opening for significant religious realignment. With a government openly hostile to the concept of a Khaganate, and very receptive to the romanticist vision of a tribal Jelbania. In what form this realignment will follow, it can only be speculated.

Government Announces 30 Year Project: 223 BILLION JEL spend to be Approved

- Government sets out ambitious project to significantly increase economic Growth
- Dramatic increases to spending in Industry, Finance, and Infrastructure
- Taghes in charge of Healthcare and Education
- Prime Minister states goal is to be "Financial Capital of Majatra by 4770"

Change is afoot within Jelbania, as the ruling Steppe Party today passed Kurultai authorisation to proceed with plans to reinvigorate the Jelbanian economy. The project, named the "Thirty Year Project", is touted by government officials to be the first step to Jelbania diversifying and globalising its backwards, undeveloped economy. The plans currently laid out see government spending almost double current expenditure in the hope that government support of private industry can lift Jelbania from the basketcase economy which it has been for most of its history.

Within the Thirty Year Project, the government says it will focus on significantly improving infrastructure and services within the nation. In the project's first budget 95 billion JEL have been devoted to the Finance budget in the hopes of the creating an international hub of finance within the nation through the building of a new business school, and the subsidising of private business, whilst a 100 billion JEL Trade & Industry budget will support Jelbanian exporters to other nations in an attempt to boost economic growth. This is further backed up by the new 75 billion JEL budget for Infrastructure & Transport in which funding for a new system of national highways is created in order to attempt to hook together a nation in which it can be very difficult to travel in currently. The final significant pledge in the Project is to focus on creating nuclear power as its chief source of energy provision by 4770. The government has, in contrast to much of the budget's delocalising theme, centralised nuclear research in the hope that it can not just provide widespread energy and electricity by 4770, but make it available to 80% of the rural population which is still chiefly agrarian in nature. It is claimed by the government that full electrification is impossible due to the number of nomadic people living in Jelbania.

How will the government fund this project? In two ways the Steppe Party has claimed. The first is with the massive surplus that previous governments had been building up over the course of this century, with government expenditure even after this passed being roughly 80 billion JEL underneath its revenue. With such a build up in the coffers, at least a build up relative to the lack of wealth of most Jelbanian governments, it is hoped that large scale spending can help open up Jelbania's economy. The second manner in which the Jelbanian government seeks to fund the project is through the diverting of funds from healthcare and education. Giving the Taghes responsibility over both revenue creation and the funding of healthcare and education, the government hopes that devolution will allow regional governments to focus on the basic needs of its citizens whilst the national government focuses on increasing the economic prosperity of its citizens.

Critics have been quick to describe the project as overly ambitious, however, with many pointing to the government's pledge to make Jelbania the financial capital of Majatra in thirty years completely unattainable. Social reformers have also pointed to the lack of emphasis the government has placed on improving healthcare and education within Jelbania, with funding for these areas being sacrificed for economic growht. They do, however, recognise that despite very limited change, the government's proposed plans do increase spending in these areas, albeit no where near enough in their eyes. There have also been some disgruntlement from some of the party's own who are more in favour of a protectionist Jelbania, and the preservation of tribal culture, which they fear will be eroded in these globalising plans. The government, however, has dismissed this argument, claiming it is "fully focused on protecting the heritage of the free hordes of Jelbania."

So far the government has only put forward a budget for this drastic change, yet it is expected to be followed by an attempt by the government to promote some of the Jelbanian companies attempting to enter the global market. The companies the government will promote are unknown yet but an announcement by the Trade & Industry Minister is expecting in the upcoming days.

Overall this plan is an ambitious attempt to put Jelbania on the map. The government has put forward strong measures to that end, but it seems that even thirty years is not long enough to make Jelbania as large of an economic power as it so desires given it has to start from the very bottom.

Wrntusrljikai Meets With Religious Leaders to Discuss Reformed Hosian Movement

- Klune T. Pshamazrk states sensible steps should be taken to maintain stability and prevent reactionary movements
- Chief Imam Hesn Cavrek, Kardinal Knstin Nrktahyeon, and Grand Shaman Jezklune K. Jeztri in rare solidarity in meeting
- Government announces flash census in order to gauge the potential ability for Reformed Hosianism to spread

Wrntusrljikai Klune T. Pshamazrk has today announced that "sensible steps" should be taken in order to manage any potential spread of the religious movement Reformed Hosianism which has spread out of Likatonia in the previous two years. Gathering together the highest ranking officials from each of the major religions in Jelbania to discuss what action to follow next, Pshamazrk sought to emphasis the need to maintain religious stability within Jelbania.

The meeting follows reports that Benton, and a group of Reformed Hosian priests spent a week converting many Jelbanians, with their message reportedly reaching about 3000 people in the capital city of Baofluz. With the added influence of Likatonian-Football player Lazyr Salzyr continuing to use Tweeter as platform to discuss his new beliefs, officials tentatively estimate that Jelbania may have roughly 10,000 converts currently.

Despite the meeting being described by a source as "rather heated," the religious leaders showed a rare and rather extraordinary moment of solidarity in the aftermath, standing and answering press questions together. With the relationship between the religious leaders usually rather fractious, in no small part due to Jelbanians' habit of syncretising each of their faiths, the threat of a more evangelist strain of Hosianism on the established order has forced them to work together. Kardinal Knstin Nrktahyeon, the highest ranking member of the Terran Patriarchal Church, especially appears to have more need than the other two for establishment solidarity as his Church includes the worship of many saints, which the new Reformed Hosianism utterly condemns.

As part of the response the government has decided to follow, the President of the Kurultai, Hrne T. Nubaékndz stated that a nation-wide census would occur in order to establish which areas were most "susceptible" to the message of the Reformed Hosian movment. It is believed that this response was due to pressure by Grand Shaman Jezklune K. Jeztri, whose Tanhrism is not currently counted at census, and despite the protestations of the Hosian and Ahmadic leaders, Pshamazrk believed the measure necessary. Nubaékndz said that a balance had to be made between religious freedom and religious stability, and it was the government's role to "manage the situation". She also criticised some of the measures taken up by other nations.

We have to place the situation in the context of the religious makeup of our nation. Upon discussion with top theologians, they have informed me that most Jelbanian religion is henotheistic in nature. That means that although we may worship one god or deity, many Jelbanians do not deny the existence of other gods; they just do not worship those other gods. This means that whilst our religious disposition is one which does not initially seem to favour the new beliefs of the Reformed Hosian movement, especially in the context of their rejection of all saints, it also means that such a religion may be able to have a greater cultural impact in Jelbania than in most other countries around Terra where more similar forms of Hosianism can be found.

It is for this reason that the government has decided that it must take action to manage the spread of the movement. This does not mean prevent the spread, and I want to make very clear this government's continuing commitment to religious freedom within Jelbania, but rather to make sure that change, if it does appear, does not lead to religious tensions, and does not lead to reactionary movements which may be more extreme in nature. To this degree, the government will be monitoring speeches and actions made by members of this new movement to firstly guarantee that there is no extremist element to this movement, and secondly guarantee that if it does spread, it spreads manageably and slowly.

If the Kurultai will let me, I wish to also reflect upon the positions taken up by other nations, who have taken measures to prevent the movement to enter their respective nations. This, I must categorically state, is the wrong approach. The Wrntusrljikai has made very clear to me that religious freedom must be protected at all costs as we manage the situation, and thus I must inform the Kurultai that there are currently no plans to place travel restrictions on Likatonian citizens or members of this church given the current nature of the movement.

Overall, the government position appears to be one of let's see how it goes, and respond later. Many in the Steppe Party are inclined towards religious freedom due to their detestation of large government. However, if the Reformed Church continues to spread, the government may be forced to implement similar restrictions in order to keep civil rest amongst the more established religious orders in Jelbania.
