Pastors Sent to Jelbania, Badaraian Pastors Continue Conversions, Week of Prayer Announced After Restrictions

After success in Jelbania John Benton has taken twenty five pastors with him on a two week trip to Jelbania, they will be breaking ground on a new mega-church that can seats five thousand in the capital city in hopes of reaching out of Jelbanian politicians. They will be going around making speeches and preaching wherever they can, some have had meetings with families, others are preaching to hundreds, it is estimated that after their first five days they may have been able to convert another one to two thousand people to the Reformed Hosian Church. Due to foreign pastors not being able to visit Badara Badarians have come to Likatonia to hear Benton and others preach, Benton has trained around twenty native pastors by now, who have had great success in Badara it is expected they have been able to convert between six and seven thousand people their, they have also finished building a church in Badara that can seats three thousand people.

John Benton made a speech encouraging Reformed Hosians, and condemning the restrictions of travel,

I encourage our brothers in these turbulent times, countries are restricting us, even though we have caused no violence, governments are in an outrage, only because they are afraid of us. I ask for these travel restrictions to end, I ask for religious freedom to prevail, you countries that ban travel to Likatonia, we are not just in Likatonia, we have a small church in Hutori, we have believers in Badara and Jelbania, we will not lose this fight we will prevail. Your scrutiny is unnecessary we cause no violence or unrest, it is you who does that, I urge all Reformed Hosains to peacefully protest do not cause violence only defend yourself, we will get through this. I call for a week of prayer for our persecutors, I call for all Hosians to join.
Interested in not responding to ridiculous accusations, namely from Jakania, and Lourania, and now Valruzia

Political Maneuvering Following Death Of Premier
July 4746

Jelbania's ruling oligarchy has suffered a major blow with the death of its leader, Premier, Bek Nuba Nohsrmko Vrn. The 63 year old magnate was felled by a heart attack at his estate in Vrnestrap. Widely respected for his administrative skills, expulsion of the Tokundian colonists and massive 34,000 acre estate, the Bek inherited leadership of the landowner cause from his father Bek Noh and has informally dominated the Kurultai faction for the past decade and a half.

With no formal leadership process and several dominant figures, it appears that a triumvirate can't mposed of Foreign Ministry Taj Shmil Baokrt, a mining tycoon, War Mnistr Bek Baomye a prominent northern landowner and Bek Jlekai Genzisrmko Vrn, the late Bek Noh's cousin and successor to the Vrn chieftainship. The oligarchs while hungry for ever more power, have avoided any kind of violent conflict, this attitude driven by a strong interest in preserving the rush of investments from Dorvik and Kazulia which number into tens of billions of LODs so far. The Khan praised the Mnistrs for what he called "swift resolution" of the political vacuum and has already signalled his formal approval of the reshuffle.

Royal Election Looms Following Khan's Death

April 4753

Jelbeks are in mourning following the death of Khan Jebr II. The 83 year old monarch passed away in his sleep at the Purple Palace ending an unprecedented 23 year experiment as Jelbania's first ever constitu tional monarch. The head of the small Hizahnd clan, Jebr II proved a popular leader and uninterested in governance while addicted to pageantry and honours.

The race to replace him has begun with the Kurultai set to convene in the summer and elect the late Khan's successor. Several candidates have expressed interest in the position - the most prominent include the former Marshal of the Kurultai Taj Shlajkai Jezkaisrmko Wekj, legislator and southern magnate Baron Jan Katona and Prince Jebr Jebrsrmko the eldest son of the late monarch. A candidate will need just two nominations to run; to win, he will need at least two thirds of all 120 votes.

Royal Election Deadlock

January 4754

The second royal election has descended to a complete deadlock with the two remaining candidates having failed to garner the necessary margin for victory. The candidates, Baron Jan Katona, 64 and Prince Jebr, 42 garnered 57 and 54 votes in the 74th round. All other candidates were eliminated by the 9th round. A frustrated Beije Grzkai Jeztri the Marshal of the Kurultai Taj and Regent-Atabek has declared a short legislative recess of two weeks pausing what is so far nine month long election, upon whose expiration, another round will be held. Marshal Jeztri himself has rejected any kind of consideration as a compromise candidate.

The key to the Deadlock appears to be what one observer described as "unrestrained bribery." Both candidates have deep pockets - Baron Katona is the descendant of the famous Deltarian adventurer who destroyed the Jeztri Khanate. He owns a 60,000 acre estate in Southern Jelbania and prime real estate in the capital. Prince Jebr earned his fortune during his father's reign trading in court office. It is not clear how the situation will be resolved though few are worried since the position is largely powerless and Beije Jeztri has agreed to remain Regent-Atabek until the end of the year.

New Khan Elected
Feb 4754

The Kurultai has elected the new Khan, ending a nine month impasse. Baron Jan Katona was elected with 109 votes, unopposed following the withdrawal of his rival Prince Jebr - the new Ambassador to Deltaria. Upon his election, he bowed to the Marshal and was proclaimed by his former rival the Prince as "Juhn Khan" The 64 year old will be formally enthroned at the Shrine of the First Khan followed by a formal oath taking ceremony in the Palace of the Kurultai.

Army Restoration Completed

The restoration of the Great Jelbek Horde has been completed. In a press statement the Mnistr of War said that the process had taken twelve years and the country now boasts a 150,000 strong force. He relayed thanks to the Dorvish government which lent the Jelbeks hundreds of military advisors to train the new recruits and also commended them for delivering on the 2bn LOD arms contract. The return of the Horde should prove to be a major stabilising factor for the Free State.

Protesters Demand "Political Rights"
June 4756

Tens of thousands have gathered in the streets of major urban areas to demand an end to noble-patrician privileges and an extension of political rights to all adult Jelbeks. The so called "Dignity Movement" began its protests about two. years ago, starting out small and relatively disorganised. It has gained a great deal of momentum in the past three months with the ongoing SCV scandal. Six foreign ministry officials accused of taking part in a Security Council Votes for Cash scheme were summarily pardoned by the Kurultai, enraging many.

The recent rush in foreign investment from economic powerhouses such as Kazulia and Dorvik has produced a fast growing if somewhat disorderly economy. Yet many Jelbeks feel humiliated by the elitist regime which allows no more than one sixth of a citizens the rights to vote and run for office. Few other legal disqualifications exist, indeed a layer of the rule of law exists with torture and some of Jelbania's infamously barbaric punishments consigned to the history book. The Government has not yet directly commented on the protests, only calling on protesters to act peacefully and obey the law.

Triumvirate Ministry Falls
July 4756

Following a dramatic midnight session of the Kurultai, the Vrn ministry has collapsed. The emergency session was held to address the ongoing protests which have paralysed city centre across the Free State for the past six weeks.

The drama began when the premier Bek Jlekai Genzisrmko Vrn announced that his government would stick to its soft approach and seek negotiations with protestors. As the Bek spoke, a young legislator Taj Kezkai Nubajrka cried out "Shame!" and launched into an impromptu tirade against the government.

Now as the ship sinks, this old coward informs out most elegantly that we must remain seated and hope that the sea of chaos around us will treat us kindly and rob us of only a little of what own. Such naivete ends not in negotiation buy utter destruction, dispossession and deletion. They seek not to share but to indulge their primitive impulses of social equality, altruism and other falsehoods. I say to this August budy - let us cut off this dead hand, this fifth column that is the premier's Mnistry of bad birds. It is time to show the protesting rabble why we are by the decree of Boh, above them and they disagree, they may discuss the matter with Messrs Bullet, Bayonet and Teargas!

By the time Taj Nubajrka finished his rant, there was pandemonium in the Palace of the Kurultai and loud chants of "Resign!" A motion of no-confidence was presented, passing with 84 to 31. A second motion nominated the Taj to form the next Mnistry, passing 91 to 24,; the sudden reaction wiping out the decade old triumvurate which has governed the country since the death of Bek Nuba Nohsrmko Vrn. The new 33 year old Premier has already announced that he will declare a State of Siege and "begin cleansing the streets."
