Regency Council Postpones Royal Election
January 4292

The Regency Council has announced that the royal election to replace Grzkai XVI has been postponed indefinitely following the appearance of several claimants and considerable disorder across the Khanate. According to the Yassa of the First Khan, a royal election can only be held when the Purple Realm is at peace. As of now, the old capital Baofluz is under siege from Gen. Merlkai Emedsrmko Bozujigumo the commander of the Blue Horde's reserve forces. A radical religious serf movement has proclaimed Jns Jrl-Banmek-Sntazed, as the son...not of the late H'an but Tanhri himself and has begun attacking government installations in the ever restive far west of the country. Meanwhile the Supreme Commander Zog Thaller has arrived in the Khanate and has been commissioned by the Regency Council to restore order to the Khanate. The Regency Council has not yet commented on any individual claims but its actions show considerable bias in favour of Thaller.

Jelbania Expresses Outrage At H'an Memes

A meeting of senior black shamans

The Regency Council has asked the College of Shamans to "punish" Istalian netizens who are mocking the late Grzkai XVI H'an with a series of "demeaning" memes. The College of Shamans' 44 black shamans are feared for their knowledge of dark arts and have promised to rain death and destruction upon the creators and distributors of such meme. In a solemn ceremony held at the Genzi II Shrine, the black shamans asked the deified ancestor to send a plague to Istalia and wipe out the evil forces behind these memes. Those distributing the meme within the Khanate faces punishments such as public stomping with the Mnistr for Executions and Amputations (Justice) reporting that 3 individuals had been executed for the offence.

Royal Election To Be Held In 4293
August 4292

H'an Mother Beiji Jlemai Jeztri has announced that the long awaited royal election to replace her deceased Grzkai XVI as H'an would be held "sometime next year". The Beiji who currently serves as chairman of the Regency Council said that the restored stability to the Khanate was the main factor behind the decision. She also renewed Zog Thaller's mandate as Supreme Commander of the Blue Horde. The past seven months have seen some stunning victories by Thaller against a number of rebels and pretenders. In April, he defeated General Bozujigumo's army at Baofluz leading to the rebel's execution but surprisingly lenient terms for his men who were re-admitted into the Blue Horde.

A month later the popular serf movement Jnskai (named after the young pretender Jns Jrl-Banmek-Sntazed a Brmek princeling who they believe to be the reincarnation of Tanhri in the flesh) was scattered in its strongholds in north eastern Jelbania. Many of the Brmek minority's settlements there were torn down and ten of thousands shipped off in chains to god-knows-where. The movement was blamed on the rise of the Ruhi faith and that tiny but growing community has faced persecution in retaliation. After this a handful of less serious pretenders were defeated and captured and executed publicly in Jeztridomura by the command of the Regency Council.

As it stands, as many as 35 individuals have declared their candidacy for the throne. The strong favourite remains Zog Thaller who has proven himself to be a skilled commander of men and political operator. A few other serious candidates include the Hatun Dowager Ldmle Kshtri and her Dztek supporters, the young Brmek princeling Jns Jrl and Bek Sagzi Mrjkaisrmko Hyeon a wealthy northern Bek known for his closeness to Vanuku. Many of these candidacies are fraught with controversy involving foreigners, women and Hosians (in the case of Bek Hyeon) and would demand a great deal of open mindedness on the part of the Great Kurultai, something it has never been known for.

Zog Thaller Dead
January 4293

The sudden death of Supreme Commander Zog Thaller from an apparent heart attack has destroyed the strong political certainty in the Khanate about its future under him. Thaller, 36 died in his quarters at the Jeztri Royal Compound in Jeztridomura. H'an Mother Beiji Jlemai. the chairman of the Regency Council expressed her deep sorrow at losing him but promised the nation that the royal election would still be held this year. As a special honour, Zog Thaller will have his ashes kept in the Jeztri Royal Shrine and the Kurultai has agreed to grant him, posthumously, the title of "H'ansrmko" (Prince)

The election is set for spring later this year. The electors will be the Great Kurultai, a specially convened body which will consist of tribal aristocrats and representatives of cities and towns. To avoid factionalism, there is no set majority or counting of votes. It is the cheers and ululations when a candidate's name is mentioned which decide the election. The one with the loudest such sounds is considered the winner.

New H'an Elected
September 4293

The Great Kurultai has elected a new H'an in an election that proved to be far less suspenseful than expected. The Regency Council managed to locate the great-great-great-great-great-great grandson of the Jeztri royal founder Genzi II H'an. The eight year old boy was living in a small village close to Jeztridomura. Genealogists believe that the young Nrljkai Bhtjarsmrko Jeztri is one of the very few surviving direct line male descendants of Genzi II, all who live in great obscurity and are near impossible to locate. A young genealogist Mrjkai Nubajrka discovered the new H'an by accident when he heard a young woman singing about the forgotten children of a great wolf. Upon further inquiry and DNA tests, this "nest of forgotten children" turned out to be the descendants of the great H'an through a junior wife who had been exiled for suspected treason.

Genzi III H'an

The new H'an will take the throne name of "Genzi III" and the late H'an's mother Beiji Jlemai has adopted him as her own son, making him a member of the senior branch of the Jeztri royal clan de jure. She recommended his election to the Kurultai, which respectful of the princess, accepted without question and named the Beiji Regent. Another reason behind this easy election is a number of protests which have arisen across the Khanate against perceived maladministration and corruption. The Kurultai thus recognised the urgent need for restoring stability at the head of the executive. It also passed a resolution calling for the government to consider reforms. Memories of the 4205-4208 revolution remain strong and many especially in the upper classes feel willing to give a little in order to preserve the current regime.

GOVERNOR-GENERAL CORONA VISITS BAOFLUZ IN 4-DAY STATE VISIT
Image

ZARDUGAL- In a four day during state visit, Governor General of Cobura Domiano Corona has arrived at Boafluz International Airport on Wednesday to begin his four-day state visit to Jelbania. Instead of immediately meeting his Jelbanian counterpart Temrkai Jezhrjebrnfi, who is currently attending presidential rallies in the eastern city of Heijtristad to prepare for the upcoming November 4317 elections, Corona will first hold talks with visiting Coburans and attend a Jelbania-Cobura business conference, Global Times reports. The two state leaders' meeting is expected to be held on Thursday afternoon and will involve a welcoming ceremony and a Memorandum of Understanding signing, as well as dinner and cultural activities to celebrate the two nations establishing diplomatic ties.

When the Governor General arrived at Boafluz International Airport, he adressed the much-attending media:
It is a great honour to travel to Jelbania today to discuss areas of mutual interest between our countries as well as advance President Jezhrjebrnfi's foreign affairs agenda in Jelbania. We look forward to a productive conversation, and hopefully time to appreciate the beautiful sights of Jelbania in the short time we are here. We would also like to thank Foreign Minister Jezhrjebrnfi
for his gracious invitation to be here today.Cobura can give Jelbania a lot and Jelbania can give a lot to Cobura! Our peoples have the right to live in peace and security but I am also convinced in friendship! They want to meet, cooperate, work together and it is our duty to make efforts to make this happen. See this visit as the beginning of a flourishing partnership between Jelbania and Cobura .I want to thank you all for the wonderful welcome and I very much hope that this day is the cornerstone of a prosperous future for both of our nations in the name of friendship.

Monarchy Restored
September 4341

Zogu Zogsson Thaller the son of Deltarian general Zog Thaller and Jelbek Princess Borte Jeztri has been proclaimed H'an of Jelbana after accepting an invitation to assume the Jelbek throne. A delegation of Jelbek chieftains and other notables visited him in Deltaria and pleaded with him to drop his bid for the Kafuri Caliphate and instead "finish his father's task" in Jelbania and assume the position of autocratic ruler to civilise the country. It was obvious to Thaller that a country which he has blood ties and support was a safer bet than rich yet forbidding Kafuristan. Thus he dropped his attempt at securing the Kafuri Caliphate and visited Jelbania where he found a large number of seriously nostalgic traditionalists who "missed the firm hand of the H'an father" Thaller organised a number of independents to contest the republican elections and upon their victory, Thaller began organising his installation. He plans to name his dynasty Jeztri-Thaller in honour of his descent from both illustrious dynasties.

The return of the monarchy marks the apathy rather than opposition the colourless Republic has earned itself in the four decades of its existence. The republic appears to have failed to address Jelbania's key long-standing problems such as the lack of a centralised government system, corruption and decidedly slow economic growth. Thaller and his H'ankai (H'an's Men) have promised to tackle these issue through centralisation and the creation of a more orderly and rational government system. The H'ankai seem to find strong popular support among the lower chieftain, the middle class and business community - all three groups which have a very strong interest in stability and security.

Unlucky Thaller Dies In Horse Riding Accident
February 4342

Jelbania's H'an elect Zogu Zogsrmko Thaller has found misfortune once again, this time for the last time. The 46 year old died after being thrown by a stallion donated by his northern rivals. Bek Mrjkai Krlsrmko Suadjakai the leader of the northerners is said to be "extremely distraught" at the fact that a horse donated by him had killed the young H'an-elect. The Bek announced that the chieftains would meet once again and elect a new H'an to replace the never crowned Zogu H'an. The old Bek himself is a frontrunner for the position being not only a prominent leader of the northern clans but one of the most outspoken voices against centralisation and destruction of Jelbek culture and traditions.
