Brethrenist Colonists arrive from Kalistan
Gaduridos represents "New Opportunity" for Political Brethren

Chicciola, North Vintalli
September 1, 4481

Image
Village of Brethren, on the Northern Coast of Vintalli, which was recently purchased by Kalistani Brethren as a retreat

The recently purchased Village of Scala, north of the city of Chicciola in North Vintalli has been permanently inhabited by Kalistani-Gaduri Brethren. Their leader, Tina Calderone, born in Ananto, and her group purchased the abandoned village and surrounding land a year and a half ago with the aim of setting up a religious enclave in Northern Gaduridos.

"We've changed our goals, due to some troubling trends in Kalistan. Those who moved to Scala have voted to remain here and renounce their Kalistani citizenship. But here is a new opportunity for us to return to the route of Political Brethrenism which led out ancestors to places like Lourenne and Telamon. It is our hope that Kalistan does well, but it is our aim to spread Brethrenism in Gaduridos and begin, hopefully to influence the Government with the aim of creating a new home."

The villagers at Scala have applied for citizenship with the Government of Gaduridos, and have renamed their town "Brethren" in honor of their faith.

"We are not evangelists. If Gaduris convert to Brethrenism, this is up to them. But we also have a moral political message which we think can better the lives of people even if they aren't members of our meeting. We will work in society to end war, to promote social justice, and to help the people live a life free of Government interference."

Asked if they were socialists, Calderone said, "A few of us are. We grew up in Kalistan, and we ask how a person can call themselves politically ethical and not be. But most of us would prefer to base our political decisions on our Faith, rather than on the ideologies of men. So if we ever gain any sort of political authority, we will be happy to work with anyone who is working on the same things we are, and if that's no one, then we will work on them ourselves."

Calderone said about 35 families, or about 160 Brethren now call North Vinitalli home, and hope to remain here in perpetuity. There is also a fairly large population of Brethren within the country, though nothing close to a plurality. Less than 5 percent of the population currently have any association with the Brethrenist meetings which have diffused here from Kalistan over the centuries, and of that number fewer then 10% are members of the handful of Gaduri Meetings. Calderone hopes that this will change as the group gains a reputation.

Brethrenism Spreads in Northern Vintalli
Brethrenist Movement mulls political action

Occidente Monthly Meeting Adopts Minute to begin exploring political Action

Less than a year after building a permanent colony on the north coast of Vintalli, the Brethrenist Movement in Gaduridos has begun spreading out. From the colony in Brethren, North Vintalli, new meetings have sprung up across the Federal State in Chicciola, Oriente, Cicosari and smaller towns like Agua Dulces, Costa Vive, and Ciudad Vintalli. The total number of Brethren attenders is now numbered more than 500, and more than 15 meetings have begun work to form a Gaduridos Yearly Meeting. Meetings most frequently move from home to home, as very few meeting houses are currently available in Gaduridos.

"We're still study groups, currently," said Francisco Alvarez, who has recently become Clerk of the nascent meeting in Agua Dulces. "But most of the folks who have begun coming to our meetings seem interested in Brethrenism, and have some past experience with the Practice, as there have been small Brethrenist meetings from time to time here over the last several hundred years. I'd say most of the new attenders have just been waiting for an opportunity to organize, rather than being converts from another religion. Though there are a couple in our meeting, for example, who were not religious, and decided to come check up out when they heard that we intended to work on issues they care about in the community."

Most importantly, along side the spread of the Brethrenist Meetings, the Monthly Meeting in Oriente adopted a minute in March to begin organizing politically. "When we founded our colony in Brethren," said Gina Delgado, a former resident of the Brethrenist Colony founded last year, "Political Brethrenism was our explicitly stated goal. Its time to begin working on that, so that we can start talking about building a political movement. Granted, we are a very small movement at the moment, but building a core of support is important before launching on the political seas of Gaduridos. Additionally, the biggest core of us are still tied pretty closely to Kalistan. We need to reach out to the population and recruit local folks before we can move on to the next step and launch a political Party."

Delgado and her group, the Brethrenist Movement of Gaduridos (Movimiento Hermanoistos de Gaduridos, or MHdG) have already issued statements on the Anti-Drug bill which is currently being considered in the National Parliament. This move portends a launch into politics. Delgado estimates that the MHdG will begin organizing as a political Party after the elections next year. "We're not really ready to begin campaigning yet, but by next year, we expect to have political meetings, as well as Monthly Meetings, in each of the five States of the Federal Union."

Ananto native returns to Gaduri roots to launch New Party in 4483

Tina Calderone, First Clerk of Brethren Monthly Meeting, to become leader of new Party

The Gaduri Brethren sat down with Sister Tina Calderone, who has accepted political leadership of Pueblo Brethren, the colony started by Kalistani Immigrants nearly 2 years ago. During our interview, we asked about plans for the Brethrenist Movement of Gaduridos, as well as her accepting a calling to become the political leader of the Movement.

G(aduri) B(rethren, interviewer Henry Ulysses): Good Morning, Sister Calderone.

T(ina) C(alderone): Good morning Brother Ulysses.

GB: First, could you go into a bit of History of the Brethrenist Movement of Gaduridos?

TC: Absolutely. Gaduridos has had a Brethrenist presence for many years, though the population has been so disorganized, they have been counted under the "Irreligious" category for centuries. Some of the Brethren here were associated with the Rasezenai, and some of them simply were just not going to meetings. But due to the proximity of Gaduridos to Kalistan, naturally, there was some diffusion. Additionally, we know that Brethren have been going on retreats to Gaduridos for decades. Many came here during the Era of One Party Rule in Kalistan, and many made their homes here. Fast forward to today, the SP in Kalistan has gone defunct, and Kalistan is making many changes that our group of refugees, if you like, didn't approve of. For example, they closed borders. They withdrew from the NBC treaty. They are crushing workers rights and are in a steady roll to privatize the entire economy. There was a strong effort to expand the military. So, a group of us from Ananto decided to emmigrate to what has become a second home for many of us. We raised considerable funds and purchased an abandoned village on the north coast called Scala, where we are sitting today, and renamed it Brethren. It will form the nucleus of a political Brethrenist movement here in Gaduridos.

GB: What sort of economic activities are the Brethren up to here?

TC: We run the paper, the Gaduri Brethren, as you know and we take ads and donations to keep this going. In addition, we are putting together a local construction company for the purpose of building. We farm locally and sustainably. We run a small restaurant, where we are right now. We have started a school for the children, and it now serves even the non-Brethren in the area who lack access to schools close by. We have opened a clinic, and we have two very good doctors and a dentist on staff to see patients. We'd like to open a textile mill and a store here, but I think that is for the future. And soon we want to build a small hydroelectric plant to begin generating our own electricity. We live mostly off the grid here in Brethren, but its not by choice. There's just not a lot of infrastructure up this way, and little Scala is not nearly big enough yet for the State Government to put money toward.

GB: As the nucleus for Political Brethrenism, what do you hope to see in 5 to 10 years for the Movement?

TC: In five years, we hope to have a political Party. It will be too soon I suppose to begin taking seats in the Parliament, but we'll be official. We'd like to work with whoever is interested in the same things we are: We seek peace, liberty and social justice. Gaduridos has a long history of being underdeveloped across most of the country. We'd like to see development that is sustainable and kind to the earth. We'd obviously like to end war, if that is possible. And we want the people to realize the dreams of their life, without the Government involving itself in every aspect. I want to be clear: I do not believe that they are, but there is always the potential, and there is always ways to improve things. In the two years since I've arrived and started making Scala, now Brethren livable again, we've seen a lot of opportunities for improvement in the local system. Though Gaduridos is a very modern nation, in many ways, there is still a lot of poverty in the rural parts of the country. I mean, extreme poverty, something quite different than exists in Kalistan. We can do better.

GB: What will your Party be called?

TC: We will become the Brethrenist Party of Gaduridos (PHdG). We will launch after the next election, and will have a while to campaign then.

GB: And you will be the Party's Leader?

TC: It looks that way. In all Meetings, there are always more jobs than people, but this is one that the Brethren Monthly Meeting has decided I should do, so I'll do it for a while, until they are led in a different direction.

GB: Very well. Thank you Sister Calderone.

TC: You're welcome, Brother Ulysses. Have a blessed day.

Brethrenists Launch Party ahead of Elections
Will enter Gaduridos Politics within months

Occidente, North Vintalli
April 19, 4483

Image
Tina Calderone addresses first Brethrenist Congress, before being confirmed Leader of the new PHdG

In Occidente, North Vintalli, the Gaduri Brethrenist Movement met to official found a Political branch of the Movement. Mayor of Pueblo Brethren, Tina Calderone, was affirmed unanimously as General Clerk of the new Gaduri Brethrenist Party (Partido Hermanoisto de Gaduridos, or PHdG). The Party will file all necessary paperwork to become registered as an official Political Party in Gaduridos and will begin participating in the National Government as soon as all hurdles are cleared.

"We did things a lot differently than most new Parties do," said Calderone. "Our experience in our old homeland showed us that we needed to build a base of support before participating in elections. Without that, any votes for our Party are simply random. So we began building the base here in North Vintalli, and now we have Annual meetings in each of the five Federal States, and we count about 7,000 adult attenders, and about 2500 more Brethren under 19 across the nation. We expect that in the upcoming elections, we will not earn seats with these numbers, but you never know. We don't have slates yet, so it would be rather strange if any of our members were actually elected."

Calderone noted that support for Brethrenism is strongest in North Vintalli. "Obviously, we have done the most work here in the last thee years. So, we expect that this will be our center for the time being. That could change, as the message we are bringing to the Government appeals to different groups of people who are not regular attenders of the Meetings. It's hard to say."

Calderone was affirmed the Party's Leader at the first annual Congress of Gaduri Brethren, which was held this year in Occidente. About 75 delegates from across Gaduridos arrived in Occidente and put forth a Minute to found the Party. "We have more work to do," said Calderone. "We need to work out a Platform. We need to put together a shadow government. We need to build State Party infrastructure. AND we are continuing our social justice work in Brethren and the surrounding area. Its good that volunteers are arriving from across Gaduridos, and some are even trickling in from Kalistan to work together for the betterment of the lives of the people of North Vintalli. We will need all the help we can get."

A new Platform and a shadow government slate will be proposed in the coming months, most likely after the Party is organized.

Brethrenist Party opens Branches in every State
Elects Gender Ballanced Slate for Shadow Government; Moves first legislative proposals

Occidente, North Vintalli
May 12, 4484

Image
Party Leader Tina Calderone takes questions from Party Delegates in April, along with leading Gaduri Clerks

The recently concluded, if unweildly named "All-Gaduri Brethrenist Party Annual Meeting with Attention to Business of the Party" concluded last month with the confirmation of Tina Calderone as Party leader and the election of a gender balanced slate for Shadow Government.

Sister Calderone addressed the Meeting: "I am proud of the delegates here who have traveled to this remote State, some with the help of their local Meetings, some on their own dime, and the work we have accomplished this week. We may not have any of our members elected to office, but we are working to institutionalize the Party both in the Government and outside."

Calderone listed the achievements of the Brethrenist Movement in Gaduridos since it was initially founded in 4481. "In 4 short years, we have turned four profitable harvests, we've taught more than 650 kids to read, we've passed out more than 200 pairs of shoes that allow local villagers to reach their jobs, we've built more than 200 jobs in North Vintalli alone, we've expanded Meeting Membership from around 65 when we arrived to more than 600 across Gaduridos, with nearly 8 times as many attenders, and our colony in Brethren is in the black for the first time due to donations and sales of our production. We have Brethrenist restaurants now in 6 cities across Vintalli and within 6 months, we'll have a restaurant in Gadur on Marligantos. Our charitable and profitable associations have dramatically outperformed our political operation."

Calderone was nonetheless optimistic. "We have a bit of a choke point on this front: there is a law we are hoping to change for the better, to allow us to make more proposals and allow us to gain more viability in Government and before the electorate. It is our hope that we can get some of the major Parties to support an opening."

Delegates to the Meeting came from across Gaduridos' five States, and over four days, discussed platform issues and candidates. At the end of the Meeting, the Platform Committee issued some specific recommendations, but said they needed to continue to meet over the next year before a full platform is forthcoming. Specifically, they recommended, and the Meeting adopted, minutes on Peace, ecology, Social Welfare, and social justice. The Delegates appointed a permanent committee on Platform to continue the work on the Platform and to have a report by the next annual meeting.

The Shadow Government proposed by Meeting delegates are as follows:

Head of Government, Leader of the Party- Tina Calderone
Foreign Affairs- Elvero Delgado
Internal Affairs- Olivia Huerta
Finance- David Gutierres
Defense- Juana Garcia
Justice- Stefano DiGioia
Infrastructure and Transport- Violeta Ortega
Health and Social Services- Dr. Guillermo Castro
Education and Culture- Maria Rodriguez
Science and Technology- Pablo "Taco" Valdez
Food and Agriculture- Elisabeta Torres
Environment and Tourism- Francisco Alvarez
Trade and Industry- Conchita Gomez-Guttieriez

The Meeting closed with two minutes: To include all Rasezanai in Gaduridos who wish to associate with the Brethren as affiliate members and the second, to begin providing cultural events, beginning in Vintalli, and then eventually including the remainder of Gaduridos.

Short Lived Brethrenist Party disbands
"Institutional Inertia is insurmountable" says Calderone

Pueblo Brethren, North Vintalli
February 17, 4486

A short note on the dissolution of the Brethrenist Party of Gaduridos: it has disbanded.

Tina Calderone, leader of the Party announced that the official Party apparatus will no longer be a factor in Gaduri politics. "We surveyed the landscape around us, and felt that our talents would be better used helping the people of North Vintalli to live better lives. Working within the Government was not really an option for us in the short term and opportunities for political change within the system were next to none. Institutional Inertia of the Gaduri Political System was insurmountable."

Many of the Brethren decided to stay on in Gaduridos, including Calderone who noted the return of the Socialist Party in Kalistan. "We could go back to Kalistan, I suppose, but there are people who need help here, and we have, over the past 5 years become an integral part of their community. Pueblo Brethren is our home now, and so this is where most of us choose to stay."

About 250 families now inhabit the Brethrenist Colony on Vintalli's north Coast. Across the country, Brethren attendance accounts for about 4% of all religious observance. But Brethrenists who may have supported the Brethrenist Party will move to support of other Parties, most likely the Progressive Party. Only about 30 of those who arrived with Calderone have chosen to return to Kalistan.

13 December 4515 - Rosaleda

RISE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVE PARTY
Once again the orange flag adorns the walls of Gaduridos homes and businesses as the once popular APP is reestablished by billionaire business mogul Matteo Ulisse. Owner of Ulisse Technologies and Ulisse Investment Bank, Matteo Ulisse has developed a strong image as one of Gaduridos' most successful business men turned politician.
In September 4515 Matteo Ulisse announced his plans to reestablish the APP at the grand launch of Ulisse Technologies' smartphone UL-Tech Venom attended by thousands of phone lovers and covered widely by press and media. A month later former economic consultant Juan Ramón was appointed Secretary General and political scientist Roberta Huang appointed as Vice President of APP. November came and APP reopened all its properties and facilities across the country. President Matteo Ulisse also appointed veteran lawyer Carla Pierino as Disciplinary Chair, former executive banker Matilde Adelardo as Treasury Secretary and former diplomat Raniero Tore as Deputy Secretary General.
The party National Executive and Central Committees have frequently convened to devise and review party policies and to conduct local party structures elections. Through social media, print and public rallies APP has continued delivering its message of progressive economic and social reforms. Recently, President Matteo told a press conference at the APP HQ that he was saddened by the recklessness of the federal government and had opted to form government to stabilize things. He expressed much concern about the national debt situation and said he would engage the minister responsible to present a money bill to Parliament.
SG Juan Ramón kicked off a countrywide tour of all party structures chairing meetings and welcoming those defecting from other parties. The SG and his deputy are flying with a 5 man team of Central Committee members to ensure the laid down procedures are being followed on the ground level.
Citizens around Gaduridos have expressed happiness at the reestablishment of the APP with some saying its about time some real opposition came into the scene. Jubilant citizens could be seen chanting party slogans and cheering on whenever President Matteo Ulisse and his motorcade drive by.

05 September 4518 - Gadur
News Sources: Gaduridos Federal Broadcasting Corporation and APP Secretariat

NLP JOINS CALL FOR NATIONAL DEBT SERVICING
After the All Progressive Party called on Minister Alex Winchester to explain how his ministry and government intended to service the 68.5 Billion GAD national debt opposition NLP quickly joined the debate. The following day government proposed increasing corporation income tax from 10% to 15% NLP and APP agreed on advising government to cut on its expenditure to balance funds. Since then APP President Matteo Ulisse has intensified calls for immediate action from government by featuring on live state and private television and radio stations discussing the issue and engaging the public. The APP leader also met with his Members of Parliament at the party's Orange View Hotel in Gadur where he gave a speech on the need for a better economy for Gaduridos and was briefed on recent parliamentary affairs. A week later government proposed reducing its expenditure by 100.1 Billion GAD from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (100 Billion) and Office of the Head of State (1 Million) APP again advised government not to reduce a single ministry's expenditure by a hundred billion and not to reduce the already underfunded office of the Head of Government's expenditure. APP is of the view that if government made seven or eight 10 Billion GAD cuts to some ministries the economy would be significantly relieved of the stress.
