GWU'S RADICAL PROPOSALS AND POLICY CONCERNS SOME GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

The GWU has made a name for itself in this new Parliamentary session as a unapologetically socialist and some may say communist party. Recent proposals have included allowing police to search property at any time and nationalization of farms and the fishing industry. Some MPs in government have expressed concern over the increasing left-wing political moves made by the GWU. Some are concerned that the GWU may have serious Authoritarian tendencies and if rumors are to be believed sone are examining a early election. We will see if these rumors become substantiated or not.

ELECTION RESULTS ROUND UP: HERNANDEZ RETURNS TO PRESIDENCY AND XU PRIMER SHIP IS IN PERIL

Prime Minister Xu called a snap election in order to attempt to consulate the left and keep the GWP out of government. Instead of uniting the left and keeping the GWU out of government she may have just granted the GWU the prime ministership. Currently, the GWU is creating a coalition government with the SPP and the LUP with Isabela Estel Martínez not Celicia Xu as the prime minister. The LUPs woes only continued when its President Jose Hornez lost in the first round of voting to Former President Jorge Hernandez (SCP) and José Félix Uriburu (GWU), the former would return to his job as president after a 2 year hiatus. The opposition benches however have gained a new party as the Conservative Party will now be taking seats in parliament many expect the party to play as an intermediate between the SCP and the GFP. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Unetta seen a loss of 7 seats 5 of which were seen as largely due to retirement, but the SCP seen a general decrease in votes across the nation as Unetta himself seen a decline of almost 5 points putting him only 3 points ahead of his nearest opponent in his Marligantos based seat. A MP whom we talked to said he is concerned about this new parliamentary composition , "We have a ranting and raving socialist on one side and a ultra conservative opposition leader on the other. Truly us parliamentarians are between a socialist and a hard place. I think the voters will see that this isn't going to work and I wouldn't be shocked if we see another snap election in the coming cycle."

THE PEOPLE'S COURIER

OUTRAGE IN LUP OVER NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH THE GWU

Gadur, Marligantos - Recently, the LUP Central Committee made an announcement that the LUP would not sit in a cabinet with the GWU, due to their radical views. The more radical members of the LUP were extremely outraged at this announcement, with many criticising party leader and interim PM, Cecilia Xu. The moderates also criticised the leader for bringing up tensions in the very united left. Another controversial decision was of the LUP agreeing to be the confidence and supply to a conservative coalition. This outraged most of the party, and analysts are predicting that Cecilia Xu, and other member of the central committee getting voted out.

UNETTA GOVERNMENT AMBITIOUS AND OPTIMISTIC

Despite having no real majority and being propped up by a former Prime Minister desperate to hold some power, the new PM Xavier Unetta is rather chipper and optimistic about the future. The PM has laid out 3 goals for his government: 1. Expanded global interactions, 2. Common sense criminal justice reform and 3. Examination of government structures and operations. His first goal seems easily achievable as a SU referendum appears likely to be on the ballot next election. While his 2nd goal will be a direct discussion with Cecilia Xu and her LUP caucus. And his 3rd goal is the most intriguing as he is examining options for a upper house and intends to bring PMQs back to parliament in the coming years. The PM has stated on many occasions that he feels this may be the only chance to show the people that their lots are in better hands with a conservative government than a socialist government.

PM UNETTA CONFIDENT IN LUP ALLIANCE

A shaky month for the government as it faced its first loss with the passage of the Safe Living Amendment. The LUP was split on the decision which resulted in a split vote by the party which secured its passage. This would have been damage enough but now rumors are swirling that the new Opposition Leader Elvira Rawson a young 25 year old former college student may be in contact with the LUP to bring the conservative government down. Rawson encourage another name change for her party which is now called the United Civic Bloc in a attempt to woo the LUP back into some form of governing agreement. The new leader has adopted a much more moderate attitude and agenda to the party and has stressed her wishes to work with Former PM Xu on a new government. Meanwhile, Cecila Xu who herself has been facing increase backlash and ire from her party faithfuls for empowering the SCP and GFP to have a government. Some see this olive branch by the UCB as a life saver for Xu if she chooses to take it, as it could mean a return to government and a increase in support of her party. Yet the Prime Minister has played down such rumor and insist that his relationship with Xu is on firm ground and that both parties look forward to further cooperation until the end of the term.

SPP EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

In what can only be interpreted as a miracle, the SPP not only became the largest party in Parliament, it also won the election. This was mostly due to the UBC disbanding and the LUP (now SUD) collaborating with the conservatives.José Hernandez commented on this, "The people have decided to give the SPP a second chance. After 5 decades of being a minor leftist party, we have risen to the top again. The people are tired of leftist parties that easily bends down to conservatives. They're also tired of conservatives trying to privatize healthcare, and other acts. However, we believe the SUD has redeemed themselves and we will continue to work with them."

SPP AND GFP SURGE IN SUPPORT AND A NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED

A surging result for the Super Progressives as they seen a increase of over 10% in their vote share as a yellow wave has swept across the nation. The wave resulted in not only the SPP becoming the largest party in parliament (making José Hernandez the next PM) but also propelled Maria Cuantez to the presidency over incumbent Jorge Hernandez. Following the defeat Jorge Hernandez announced his retirement from politics and stated he plans to resign at the next pre-election convention held a year prior to the scheduled day. Also on the ballot were 2 referendums, one to rejoin the Seleyan Union and the other was asking whether the controversial No Confidence Act should be used in parliament. The SU referendum was passed by a comfortable margin winning 56.1%-43.9% while the NCA referendum failed with 48.2%-51.8%. Many expect the next government to bring bills to both a repeal the NCA and a approve SU membership in the next few months. Speaking of government, both the SPPs José Hernandez and the SUDs Matinelle Sanchez has been in negotiations over the last few weeks to bring a new government to office. Current PM Unetta stated he is happy to remain PM until a decision is reached and if no deal is made he will continue to lead government until the Parliament shall relieve him. Unetta hoped his party would make gains in the most recent elections but instead faced a lose of 4 seats. It appears the SCPs continued issues among suburban voters remained as the GFP and SPP made gains in suburan areas while the SCP and the new named SUD lost support.

PROTEST ERUPT OVER INCEST BILL

Protesters have begun to Rally outside of parliament opposition to the incest bill introduced by the Deputy Prime Minister. The bill if passed would stop any and all pre prosecution of incestuous act unless those acts resulted in a pregnancy. Opposition leader Xavier Unetta has argued that this amounts to a legalization of incest and called the bill a violation of human decency. The Prime Minister responded to this calling it a victimless crime and asserted that there is nothing indecent about it.

After that initial debate in parliament protesters began to amass outside to show their displeasure, among those the opposition leader himself. Children rights advocates we're also at the rally calling this a "slippery slope" for children legal rights. Many of those advocates are Ardent SPP voters and were shocked to see the Prime Minister defend the bill. "I think I'll be reevaluating my electoral choices next time around" said Berto Guerrero the VP of the Vintalli Childrens Defender Fund who is also a card carrying SPP member.

Meanwhile some government backbenchers defended the bill with talk of freedom to love and unclogging the legal system with "crimes of consent." A government minister speaking in anonymity said the protest outside was nothing more than political games and "political gesturing" as he suggested the broader public sees the sense in this bill. Whether these protest will change any minds seems unlikely but what is most likely is the government will likely be seeking more societal changes before the end of this term.

RATIONAL HUB
MASSIVE COUNTER PROTEST AGAINST ANTI INCEST LEGALIZATION

While there appears to be a protest against the legalization of incest, there is now an even larger counter protest. One of the counter protesters, Juan Berta, said "I love how they say that this is against children legal rights, when having sex with children is already illegal and this is just if a father wants to have sex with his adult daughter, and his daughter allows it, why should the government stop it?".The majority of the counter protestors are libertarian SPP/SUD members, but there were independents and some GFP members.

OTIS LIGHTFOOT ELECTED NEW SCP PARTY PRESIDENT

Local Salnaetan politican Otis Lightfoot was unanimously elected at the party's September convention. Lightfoot who is 52 said his main objective it to keep the SCP relevant and make it the sole conservative party in Gaduridos. He also bashed the Prime Minister for being to chicken to fully legalize incest, "the Prime Minister has shown how cowardly he is with this incest issue. He claims the nation supports his actions yet he doesn't push for legalization of incest he instead decided to just not enforce the law! He is ashamed of his policy and we all know it!" Lightfoot also announced a massive effort called the 250 project which is aimed to target all 250 constituencies across the country. Unetta was not present at the convention citing a personal conflict but his spokesman said he was thrilled for the unanimous result and looked forward to working with Lightfoot in the coming election.
