ALL PROGRESSIVE PARTY RETURNS
11th January 4973 (07/26/21) - Cuidad de Cancon

Retired army officer turned military consultant Juan Rosaleda has been unanimously elected as the chairperson of the rebranded and recently remobilized Gaduri All Progressive Party.
I'm very happy to have been chosen to lead such a historic organization. It's great to know I have so much support and confidence from the party,
said Col. Rosaleda during an interview with the APP media.

During the colorful and ceremonial party general conference held on 9th till 11th January at the party GHQ in Cuidad de Cancon over five thousand party members met to elect national and regional party officials and party candidates to stand in local, parliamentary and presidential elections. On the final day, the 11th, party members elected Juan Rosaleda, 46, as the party leader. Col. Rosaleda won the election against 4 other candidates with 58.8% of the total votes cast.

The party has since been sent to campaign and mobilize more members. The party is expected to call for early elections and begin a very ambitious legislative agenda aimed at meeting the needs and wants of the people.

Exodus of the 200, Flowers joins PC caucus

After several high-profile battles George flowers and 199 other SCP peers have left the Social Conservatives caucus and joined the Progressive Conservative Party. Flowers, the former leader of the House, stated in a press conference with his fellow leavers that " unreconcilable differences have arisen between them and the party they formerly stood for."

Much of the drama began at the tail end of the DeFazio government when prime minister at the time Debra DeFazio forced through the Freer markets act which officially shuttered the National Bank. Flowers a former finance minister and default president of the National Bank vehemently disagreed with the policy resulting in him challenging the government in the House of Peers despite the fact that he was serving as the Leader of the House at the time. The vote ultimately failed by 2 votes to officially block the legislation. Following that he had lost support among the majority of his caucus and left the leadership role did Jason Myorkas. Initially he and Myorkas along very well however his recent spat over the military commission Act was the last straw.

With this Monumental move the Social Conservative party will lose the House of Peers for the first time in history and the Progressive Conservatives will take over the leadership role. It is unclear who will officially serve as the leader of the House some suggesting that flowers made a deal with the Progressive co
Conservatives to regain that role with his new party, however that is just conjecture at this stage. But one thing can be for certain the house of peers will be a very different beast

Defection Fever Spreads, SCP regional governments toppled

Only a month after George Flowers defected to the Progressive Conservatives more members of the SCP have switched sides. In all but Vintalli members of the local parliaments have left the SCP.
Below we have a summary of the defections and what it lead to in each local government

Pernessia: 11 Defected (7 PC, 2 Uni)
After 11 members left the party the SCP government lost its majority and became the second largest party in the parliament. The Progressive Conservatives who are now the largest party quickly secured a Supply agreement with the Super Progressives to form a minority govt. The agreement stressed the purpose of the supply was to push forward on child tax credits and other social programs to help the vulnerable in the state.

Salnaeta: 21 Defected (21 PC)
Despite over 20 of its members leaving the party, the SCP has remained in government albeit with a much narrower majority.

Marligantos: 9 Defected (5 PC, 4 Uni)
In the more populist leaning island the number of defects were nearly even between the PC and Universal parties. The already delicate SCP - PC coalition was broken as the bad blood between members seemed too much to overcome as the SCP announced it was resigning from the Gov't. The new largest party the GNP announced it will serve as a Minority government until the next election in 2 years. This announcement came as it seemed almost certain that a early election was going to be necessary as no coalition agreements could be reached, luckily the SCP said it would support the GNP on a "vote by vote basis".

Vintalli : No Defections
The only island to stay clear of the Defection fever could not avoid the after effects. Following the defection and subsequent ripples the SCP resigned from the PC lead coalition gov't luckly the Progressive Unionist were willing to step up in their place. The Progressive Conservative Government remains now with a much more leftward coalition.

Flowers Named Leader of the House of Peers

George Flowers has officially been named Leader of House of the Peers. The Progressive Conservatives took control of the House of Peers following Flowers' high-profile defection from the Social Conservative Party along with 199 other Peers in response to intra-party tensions over the Military Commission Act and the Freer Markets Act. There was much speculation that Flowers may have made a deal with the Progressive Conservatives before defecting, and this recent development indicates that there may be some truth to that rumor.

Progressive Conservative Party Chair Giuseppe Rivera commented: "Our party is proud to welcome George Flowers and others who have recognized that the Social Conservative Party has drifted too far to the right in recent years and no longer represents their interests. Our party stands for a strong national bank, social equality, and a centrist vision that will secure prosperity for all citizens of Gaduridos. We are confident that these recent Social Conservative Party defections place us in a great position to succeed in the next national elections, and we have the utmost confidence in Leader Flowers to effectively unite our party and set our priorities in the House of Peers."

RATIONAL HUB
UPSET WITHIN THE PCP

There was rumor that the socialists and social democrat factions of the PCP were planning to split of from the PCP to create their own party. The more left leaning part of the PCP seemed very visibly disillusioned with the PCP, with many leftist members describing the PCP’s opposition to the Freer Markets Act as very “surface level” and “doesn’t attack the root of the problem with the bill”, as well as 25 peers in the HoP dissenting from the PCP on the “Right To Serve” bill, telling journalists that they are not accepting anything that is not complete equality for the LGBT and women in the military.

In a sudden upset today, many well known members of the PCP left wing faction, including Daniel Baptiste and Juan Hernandez, have announced their departure from the PCP. “The people can no longer wait for the PCP’s slow and insufficient response to the lack of regard for equality and freedom shown by the SCP and Universal. It is time to form a new party, a left wing party, and demand the government restore the rights of the LGBT, women, and the workers!” Daniel Baptiste said in a speech to a crowd, followed by an exited yell from the crowd in support for David Baptiste. The defectors decided to call the new party, the Super Progressive Party (SPP), a historical left wing party Gaduridos. “5 centuries ago, Adam Robles of the SPP fought valiantly against discrimination against transgendered people.Even after that, Robles’s successors’ fought for the worker protections that the SCP and Universal just removed only a few years ago. This is why we are the Super Progressive Party, the Super Progressive Party fought for and succeeded in implementing worker rights, we shall do it again!” Juan Hernandez said in a statement he has given to us.We are awaiting a response from the PCP.

PCP Leaders Respond to Defections
October 5067

Defection fever has returned to Gaduridos. Just three years after SCP defections put PCP in control of the House of the Peers, PCP now faces its own defection problem. Daniel Baptiste and Juan Hernandez have led a significant number of members of the party's former left wing caucus to form the Super Progressive Party (SPP). In total, 45 PCP Peers have defected to SPP in protest of PCP's failures to stand up for workers rights and full LGBT equality. This includes all 23 PCP Peers who abstained from voting on the Right to Serve Act of 5064.

Leader of the House of Peers George Flowers (PCP) criticized the defectors and defended the party's record under his leadership. He argued that restoring the national bank and ushering through a compromise bill that allowed women to serve openly in the military were major accomplishments. Reports indicate that there were as many as 30 additional PCP Peers considering defection, but Flowers managed to persuade them to remain. As a result, PCP continues to maintain control of the House of Peers, and Flowers remains Leader. However, he finds himself in a significantly weakened position.

Prime Minister Romero similarly dismissed the defectors arguing that the vast majority of PCP remains unified around her agenda and ready to succeed in the 5068 elections. She said that her record on LGBT rights is strong and that PCP will continue to advocate for social equality, economic freedom, and prosperous policies.

PCP Party Leader Giuseppe Rivera could not be reached for comment.

THE GRAY STAR
SEPTEMBER 5068
Parliamentary dispute broke out in parliament today. Two bills have been put into vote that push for the formation of two entirely different cabinets.

"Utter disgrace to Parliamentary traditions"
Claims one voter.

The issue boils down to this who will the PCP form a coalition with?
Will Parliamentary traditions be respected and the PCP will endorse SCP or will the PCP hoodwink Parliament and seal a deal with the SPP.

Prime Minister Romero Defends PCP-SPP Coalition
November 5068

Prime Minister Romero defended herself against allegations published in The Gray Star suggesting that PCP leadership hoodwinked Parliament and violated Parliamentary traditions by forming a government with SPP. Prime Minister Romero said that she was unaware of any constitutional or customary requirement in Gaduridos that the party with a plurality of seats must be part of the governing coalition. She said that PCP seriously considered joining a governing coalition with SCP, but opted to form one with SPP instead after determining that the parties had more common ground on objectives for the upcoming term. She noted that there are other countries in Terra that only allow the largest party or the head of state to propose a Cabinet coalition, and she is open to discussing reforms in this area should other parties wish to have that conversation.

Prime Minister Romero said that she looks forward to working with a majority in Parliament this term to finally pass significant LGBT rights legislation. She thanked voters for placing their trust in PCP and promised to deliver on her campaign promises to the best of her ability.

Prime Minister Romero Facing Hazardous Balancing Act
September 5070

Disagreements between PCP leaders Prime Minister Alexandra Romero and House of Peers Leader George Flowers reportedly reached new heights today as Romero expressed anger with Flowers over his decision to lead a group of over 200 PCP Peers to oppose a resolution supporting the House of Commons' reinstitution of a 10% corporate tax rate. Romero lambasted Flowers in a private meeting for failing to be a team player and standing in the way of the party's agenda. Flowers retorted that the party ran on a platform of opposing radical change, and Romero's policy agenda did not accurately reflect the mandate afforded to PCP by voters.

Prime Minister Romero was reportedly in talks with SPP leadership to institute national public housing and public healthcare programs this term, but Leader Flowers urged her to instead put those policies in the party platform and run on them in the next election. He said that he would do all he could to ensure the House of Peers torpedoed them unless there was more explicit indication of buy in to that significant of an expansion of the national government from voters. Romero's next steps regarding these priorities and others for the rest of the term still remain unclear to the public at this time.

PCP's Steering Committee, which consists of prominent party leaders, is scheduled to meet early next year to officially determine an agenda for the June 5072 elections. The meeting is expected to be quite contentious amid recent divisions between the party's more progressive and conservative wings.
