The Ultran Stadt MailINTERVIEW WITH SETH JOHNSays Gerald Wehnert was, "the best president in his lifetime"
Lambasts political opponents, won't rule out serving again as PMBy Bella Reese
Seth John is a man with an impressive resume, to say the least. He guided the small AFP, whose successor is the current PFR, to prominence in Alorian politics. While nobody could say he single-handedly destroyed the old Labor Party dominated political scene of decades past, his fingerprints were all over the broken pieces. He was, in succession, Foreign Minister and Prime Minister of Aloria. The 72 year old politician has once before retired from politics, but returned after the last elections to the Senate.
I have sat down with Senator John to ask him questions about his time in politics, and where he sees himself and his party heading.
Bella Reese: Senator John, it is a pleasure to have the honor of interviewing you. How are you doing?
I'm doing quite well Bella, thank you. But I'm tired. I missed being a Senator during my retirement, but I can tell you it is quite tiring!
Reese: So, tell me, what exactly do you think about the RSF-Labor government?
*chuckles* Well, I think I've made my opinion abundantly clear! The RSF are thugs and Labor are political opportunists. I had the displeasure of working as a part of a junior coalition with Labor when I first served as Foreign Minister, and they have not an ounce of real conviction. At least the RSF, to their credit, does. But, Labor will bite them in the back to keep power at any chance. However, the real danger is with the RSF. Their Senators and leadership have called time and time again for violence against hardworking Alorians who happen to disagree with them.
Reese: What policies specifically do you disagree with?
Almost all of them! The RSF has pushed through an agenda that has turned Aloria into a socialist country, and without a quick change back we'll see the decline, no destruction, of the Alorian way of life. They have nationalized industry and torn the ownership of businesses from hardworking Alorians.
Reese: So, what does your party plan to do about this?
We plan to win! And we know enough Alorians agree with us. We will make huge gains in the next election, I promise.
Reese: What do you think about somewhat recent statements by Gerald Wehnert, former president and current Deputy Leader of the Libertarian Party, declaring that "If this government does not fall at the next election, I will return"?
You know, I haven't spoken to Wehnert for quite awhile. But, between you and me and everyone else who reads this interview, he was the best damn president this country had in my lifetime. I can tell he wants to be back in charge of his party, and I say to him, 'What's stopping you?' And hell, if he does his job and I do mine, the RSF will be out of office! Why wait until after the next election? I'd love to see another Wehnert presidency, myself. We'll need someone with experience to bring back this country from the brink. It was a pleasure serving alongside him when I was Prime Minister. But our reforms from back then have been all but wiped out by the RSF, and we'll need someone competent to be the face of fixing it.
Reese: Your party plans to run a candidate. Don't you think you're undercutting your party's leadership?
Not at all. An old guy like me can say what he wants. *laughs* But in all seriousness, we already plan on endorsing the Libertarians if they make it to the second round. But, if you look at polls of our base, there's nobody they'd rather see as president other than Wehnert, besides me. And I can tell you that I'm not running again.
Reese: Would you serve again as Prif Weinidog [Prime Minister] if Wehnert was elected president?
Now, George [Llewellyn] is our party leader. We put forth our leader for the position of Prime Minister. I'm proud to serve my country, but Wehnert isn't running for president.
Reese: So, that's not a no?
I said what I said, Ms. Reese.
Reese: How do you see your party faring in the Senate elections?
You know, I don't even look at polls, so I couldn't tell you about that. But, I talk to people, I don't keep myself locked up in the Senate. I keep an ear to the ground and I know what working folks think. They want change, and I think our party brings that. The kind of change the RSF brought has decimated our country and trampled our values, look around! The AFP-Federalist merger has brought a lot of hardworking activists to our side, too. We can get out the vote like nobody's business.
Reese: Thank you for your time, Senator John.
You're welcome, it's been a pleasure.
