PRESIDENT CEFIN LLOYD GIVES POWERFUL SPEECH AT PARTY CONFERENCE, MENTIONING HIS PARTY'S LEGACY IN THE "DESTRUCTION" OF THE AU

President Cefin Lloyd was met with people chanting his name at the Libertarian Party's conference today. Speaking to a packed out hall, the president talked primarily about the government's achievements since winning the 4473 election. With only seven months till the next election, the president looks relaxed, composed and happy. Before the last election, he had a lot of critics within his party, but now they have been silenced. Over four years of Libertarian rule has brought a lot of change to Aloria. Some may say the president has had an easy ride as there is no left-wing opposition party to him, however many say he can be proud of his administration's achievements.

One of the biggest parts of Lloyd's speech was about the Libertarian Party's distant past. Lloyd hailed "some of the greats" such as former leaders and presidents Gerald Wehnert and Margareta Schuchard. Wehnert said these two leaders led to the destruction of the Artanian Union, and said that has to be his party's greatest ever achievement.

We have to look to the past to aid our future. In our party's past, and I'm talking distant past, we have achieved so much for hardworking Alorian people. No other party in Aloria has achieved such monumental change during their party's history as ours. We have to look at leaders like Gerald Wehnert. A man who rose to the top against all odds, and, not only that, he didn't get power-hungry. Everything he did was designed to help the Alorian people in the long-term; the changes he made weren't for short-term political gains, but for long-term monumental change! We're talking about a man who lived nearly 200 years ago. The fact that we still talk about him shows how revolutionary he was. The Alorian people will never forget the work he did.

His biggest achievement, of course, was holding an AU referendum... and guess what, WE WON! The Alorian people voted to leave. Then, 30 years later there was an attempt by the internationalist global elite to take us back into the Artanian Union, but thanks to our great Libertarian president Margareta Schuchard they never managed it. The AU is now no more. It is confined to the dustbin of ancient history! We will always protect the nation state, sovereignty and democracy. That is our party's legacy, that is our party's history and that is our party's future! Thank you, thank you for the applause but I shouldn't be the one you are cheering for, you should be cheering our party's principled past!

President Lloyd went on to say Aloria will continue to "play a big role around the globe", claiming "in the past four years, without Aloria, the world would be a far worse place". This claim has been disputed by many of his critics for exaggerating Aloria's presence on the world stage. Nevertheless, it is true that the president has been active in global politics. For example, it was Aloria who led the condemnation of the communist, military Kafuri regime by imposing a trade embargo on them that is still in place. Furthermore, the Alorian government has also placed a trade embargo on Solentia. It is thought after Lloyd either loses an election or resigns from his role as president, he wants to run for president of the General Assembly.

Later in the speech, Lloyd tackled current issues, such as rising crime levels. He said the Libertarian Party would "get tough on crime" but also "put emphasis on rehabilitation" - he then said "some people, however, cannot be rehabilitated". The party conference has turned out to be very successful for both Lloyd and his party. The Libertarian party is more united and stronger than ever, and will be heading into next years with a real enthusiasm and excitement for the future.

PRESIDENT CAUTIOUSLY PRAISES NEW PRESIDENT OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

President Cefin Lloyd has praised the new president of the General Assembly, Ibrahim El Salefi of Istalia, and congratulated him for winning the election. Aloria voted for him and it is thought Mr Lloyd passionately supported his candidature. However, it is also known that Lloyd would like El Salefi to condemn Kafuristan more strongly. Aloria intervened and imposed a trade embargo on Kafuristan in 4473 and has threatened to do more. In a recent interview, the new president of the General Assembly said "external intervention can only worsen the situation", which Cefin Lloyd has picked up on. Speaking today, only one day before the Alorian election, Lloyd said he would "do more to encourage President Ibrahim El Salefi to take action against Kafuristan. We cannot go on ignoring brutal, ruthless, anti-democratic leaders. We must protect democracy... AND as the president of the General Assembly said himself, WE MUST PROTECT HUMAN RIGHTS!"

With one day to go to the Alorian election, Lloyd seems confident of victory, however his continued intervention in foreign affairs just before the election is seen as a politically motivated decision.

LIBERTARIANS LOSE MAJORITY AND PRESIDENCY, CEFIN LLOYD RESIGNS

The election results have shocked the country, with the Demokraitsche Allianz winning a majority of seats and the presidency. Within the last hour, Cefin Lloyd has resigned from his role as leader of the Libertarian Party, and has congratulated Morgann Griffith for winning the presidential election.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate Morgann Griffith for winning the presidency. She ran a good campaign, and, unfortunately for myself and my party, the Alorian people chose to elect her. I want to say that it has been a pleasure to serve the Alorian people over the last five years as their president and leader on the world stage. I believe we made a lot of positive changes over the last five years, and I wish we could get that message out there to the people, because I believe we were making good progress towards building not only a better Aloria, but a better, more prosperous Terra.

I am proud to say that I have challenged injustices around the world during the last term. I hope the new president won't turn a blind eye to the current crises in Kafuristan and Solentia. I also hope she will continue to pursue our aim of Aloria playing a bigger role in international affairs. I will continue to fight for what I believe is right, for what I believe is in Aloria's interest and for what I believe will make Terra a better place for the many. I will continue my work of challenging Kafuristan and Solentia, as well as challenging injustices wherever I see them. Perhaps, the reason I lost the election is because I spent a lot of my term acting on foreign policy rather than on domestic isssues. But I reject this - by helping Terra we will help ourselves.

The big question is now this - how does our party move forward. In my opinion, this must come from the grassroots. More power must be given to the members to formulate policy. I am fully committed to our party's values, our ideals and our collective vision for the futue of Aloria and for the future of Terra. Over the next five years, I think our party must continue to challenge injustices, and to promote human rights and democracy. The Libertarian Party must show leadership on these key issues. However, I have come to the conclusion that the person to provide this leadership cannot be me. I will continue to be involed within the party and within politics, and I believe the party's current policy platform is still right. However, we need a new face at the helm to promote these policies and values. Therefore, and I say this with deep sadness, I announce my immediate resignation from the leadership of the Libertarian Party

It is not yet known when the Libertarian leadership election will take place.

OWAIN REECE ELECTED LEADER OF LIBERTARIANS

Senator Owain Reece has been elected leader of the Libertarian Party, winning the leadership election with a big majority. He beat his opponent Ebbe Taube, a staunch economic Libertarian, by 79% to 21%. Mr Reece describes himself as a "pragmatic Libertarian", and said the Libertarians must "contrast the Demokratische Allianz" if the party is to stay relevant. He has proposed a change in policy to support a mixed economy with a "firm but generous" welfare state. One anonymous Libertarian Senator reportedly said today that "the new leader is leading us down a path away from Libertarianism. We may as well change our party's name, because there is no way we will remain a truly Libertarian party under the leadership of Owain."

Former president and leader Cefin Lloyd has backed the new leader "to lead the party while in opposition to the DA, as he is prepared to challenge and scrutinise the government". Furthemore, Lloyd praised Reece for "keeping the party fiscally conservative and socially liberal".

LIBERTARIAN LEADER OWAIN REECE PUSHES FOR EXTENSION TO TRADE EMBARGO AGAINST KAFURISTAN

The Libertarians are proposing an extension to the current trade embargo against Kafuristan. In the bill that imposed the embargo, it made clear that it would need to be renewed after five years by the foreign affairs minster. The current Demokratische Allianz government have shown no signs they are going to do this. Owain Reece, Libertarian Party leader, has called on the government to renew the embargo until Kafuristan democratises and puts emphasis on human rights.

FORMER PRESIDENT CEFIN LLOYD SETS UP INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL AWARENESS

Cefin LLoyd, the former president of Aloria who lost last years election, has founded the Institute for Global Awareness. The international organisation aims to provide pragmatic, sensible solutions to crises around Terra. Mr Lloyd said the institute would fight for "freedom, peace, humanity and prosperity". Currently, the IGA is gathering evidence to create a proposal to ease the situation in Kafuristan. Some have criticised Cefin Lloyd, as he was the one who escalated the situation by imposing a trade embargo on Kafuristan when he was president. Lloyd said it "was necessary to do so" and still is "in support of an embargo of sorts", but said this "could be eased if there is comrpomise by the Kafuri government at the same time".

INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL AWARENESS SUGGESTS SOLUTIONS TO KAFURISTAN CRISIS, SEEN AS "FRIENDLY" TO KAFURISTAN

The Institute for Global Awareness, led by Cefin Lloyd, has produced a report into its finding in Kafuristan. The report proposed numerous concessions from all sides in order to help working-class Kafuri, the group struggling the most from the economic effect of the embargoes imposed on them. Furthermore, and perhaps rather surprisingly, the report also praised the Kafuri regime for, in some cases, advancing "the rights of their citizens in many key areas". The inclusion of this line has come as a shock to many who thought that the IGA, headed by the former president and long-time critic of the Kafuri regime, may aim to create a biased interpretation of the situation in Kafuristan. However, it appears the former Alorian president is happy to concede he may have made mistakes while he was in office.

The key proposals set out in the report are likely to take time to be implemented, if they are implemented at all, as they include major compromises from both the countries imposing embargoes on Kafuristan and the Kafuri regime itself. Despite this, the report proves a solution to the situation is possible if cooperation between all parties involved in pursued quickly.

In Aloria, the reaction to the report by the Libertarian Party has been mixed. Libertarian Leader Owain Reece has said "the report offers us an interesting but honest interpretation of the Kafuri crisis, and we as a country must take steps to implement their recommendations, provided Kafuristan is willing to do the same". It is unclear whether the Demokratische Allianz Alorian government will agree.

Reaction from the Kafuri government is yet to come, but when it does it will determine whether the report's proposals have any chance of being considered, discussed and implemented.

Llywydd Morgann Griffith to retire from political life

Llywydd Morgann Griffith (DA) has announced her intention to retire at the upcoming 4490 elections. In her decade as Llywydd, Ms Griffith has presided over an era of great economic and social stability in Aloria. She has also managed to work effectively from a minority government position with both the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) and Libertarian Party (LP) to pass a number of minor economic and social reforms.

While maintaining a balanced budget, Ms Griffith worked to legislate for a freer economy by reducing corporate tax and further opening the domestic market to foreign workers and investment. She was a strong advocate for a modern and ethical military, increasing defence spending for modernisation projects while working to restrict the use of nuclear weapons and to ban the development and use of chemical weapons, biological weapons and land mines by the Alorian Defence Force. On the domestic front, she introduced a binding national curriculum, increased the compulsory school age to 18, and introduced federally funded universities. She also oversaw compulsory jury trials for all crimes and the introduction of a national universal recycling program.

The Demokratische Allianz (DA) party room have nominated Prif Weinidog Julian Cordell to run for the position of Llywydd at the upcoming election. Junior minister Sian Hughes was elected unopposed as his deputy.

NEW LEADER OF THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY PROMISES "ECONOMIC REVOLUTION"

The newly-elected leader of the Alorian Libertarian Party, Trev Griffith, has promised an "economic revolution" if his wins the next election. With only two months to go until election day, the Libertarian Party is in full campaign mode. Speaking in Craigtref today, Mr Griffith said "the end of socialism is close".

Our party is ready, once again, to be the party of government, as we have done in the past. Our historic party has fought on the side of the Alorian people throughout our long history, and we have also been on the right side of history. We have challenged communism both in Aloria and around Terra, we have stood up against the Artanian elites to put Aloria first and now we must once again stand by the Alorian people in order to bring about an economic revolution after decades of despair! Our debt-stricken, poverty-stricken country must be rebuilt and we are the only party that will stand up to the socialist establishment. Socialism has made us the sick man of Artania. We say no more! It's time for us, the Libertarian Party, to return to government and be the natural party of government. The end of socialism is close!

LIBERTARIAN PARTY WINS ELECTION, TABLES "GREAT ALORIAN BILL OF 4647"

Image

The Libertarian Party has won the February 4647 election, with Trev Griffith being elected president. President Griffith looked thrilled with his election win in a speech he made shortly after it became clear the Libertarians would be in power. Continuing with his pro-capitalist rhetoric, Mr Griffith said "difficult choices will need to be made" but he is "extremely optimistic" for the future, and said "this will signal the end of socialism in Aloria".

With very little opposition and on a very low turnout, the Libertarians also triumphed in the legislative elections and are now set to push through their policy agenda very quickly. This includes the Great Alorian Bill of 4647, which looks set to pass through the Council of the Republic with ease. This bill will rename the legislative chamber back to the Senedd, will rename the title of the "Premier of the Republic" to the President, make the Head of State and the Head of Government the same official, reduce the term time to 4 years and allow only the Head of State to form a cabinet. Today, Trev Griffith said it is time "to reclaim our Aloria from the grip of socialism, from the grip of those who want us to forget our beloved culture and from those in Aloria and around Terra who have turned our country into the sick man of Artania".

Speaking in the soon to be renamed Council of the Republic, Trev Griffith made the following statement today, setting out the government's agenda:

Today, the government will be setting out its agenda for the current legislative and executive term. After years of socialist rule, it has become clear this failed project must end. It is essential we embrace the free-market, embrace the freedom of the individual and embrace capitalism in order to turn our great country into a major player on the world stage again. For too long, Aloria has been the sick man of Artania, but no more; from today we will make sure our Aloria is an outward-looking but proud nation, willing to look after our interests but also play a part on the world stage. We will rejuvenate our economy by opening up our country to more foreign investment and we will make this a country we're private enterprise will thrive while socialism falls. At the same time, we will look after the worst-off in society by maintaining a welfare safety net, whilst also reducing taxes for those on low incomes. We will invest in public services, but we know we cannot spend more than we earn. We will stand by our moral duty to maintain Aloria's interests internationally, whilst also acknowledging we must play a role in the globalised world.
