Qart Cildar TimesReligious visa program to launch in January; Armed Forces develop new scheme to manage contractsOctober 5284A Cildanian Army Merkava 4 main battle tank, originally purchased from Beiteynu, practicing new firing drills developed by the Defense Staff.Qart Qildar (Aqildar) - Minister of Education and Culture Danjel D'Emanuele announced that the Principality of Cildania will create a religious visa program which will permit those of the three major religions of Cildania: Hosianism,
Yeudism and Ahmadism. The religious visa program will allow those who wish to visit Cildania for a period of 30, 60 or 90 days to do so. The program, which will be formally launched as a component of a tourism push from the Ministry of Education and Culture in addition to the Ministry of the Environment and Tourism, has become centerpiece to the economic recovery strategy of the new Prince and the Prime Minister. Education and Culture Minister D'Emanuele has hinted that the program might be expanded to allow for permanent residency and than potentially allowing those to gain citizenship in Cildania. D'Anjel Bourgion, the Environment and Tourism Minister, has stated that religious tourism has allowed Cildania to become the epicenter of multiculturalism and a plural religious society. The program which was unofficially started when the Restoration Movement took over, will be formally started in January, 5285. According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism there has been over 7,000 applicants for the religious visa program have pre-registered with dozens more every day. Prime Minister Kalċidon Cesareo is supportive of the program despite some drawback from the more conservative, nationalist wing of the Restoration Movement which has voiced preference towards those who believe in the Apostolic Church of the Isles and other blends of Hosianism. Rabbi Tzadok Mocatta, the head of the largest temple in Qart Qildar, pushed back against a number of Deputies in the Council of Deputies for their preferential treatment towards Apostolic Church of the Isles.
Prime Minister Cesaero hopes that the religious tourism will provide an added boost to the Cildanian economy. In recent weeks the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and Trade and Industry Minister have held high-level talks with a number of mining and raw material-based corporations including Lucia Mining Corporation, a Cildanian-based mining and raw materials corporation founded by Acrisio Lucia, an Istalian immigrant who moved to Cildania to be closer to his religious beliefs. Lucia, a dedicated Apostolic, left a significant piece of land to the church and was honored by the then Patriarch of the church for his efforts. Lucia's heirs and heiresses have continued the family business and own a sizeable percentage of the rare earth metal mining operations across Cildania. The family's business has slowed down in recent decades as the Cildanian economy has become stagnant and the prospect of foreign trade has declined. "We're eager to work with the new government and we are incredibly happy to find new partners for our companies hard work." While Lucia Mining is one of many corporations the government has met with, the incoming Governor of the Central Bank of CIldania (Gizri: Bank Ċentrali ta' Kildanja), Patrizju Surdo has worked tirelessly with native banks on Cildania to begin providing government-backed loans to corporations wishing to expand operations. The Ministry of Trade and Industry has worked with both private and government entities to expand foreign trade and is hoping that trade deals will be made, notably with larger power blocs such as the Artanian Union in exchange for increased foreign investment into Cildania.
Prime Minister Kalċidon Cesareo and Secretary of the Supreme Council Squadron Admiral (ret.) Sebastjan Bellanti announced that the Cildanian Armed Forces had contracted with several firms, notably those who had previously provided equipment and material to the armed forces, to re-contract with the armed forces. For instance, the Beitenyu-based firms responsible for the maintenance and handling of the Merkava 4 main battle tank would be re-hired and asked to train the Cildanian Army in how to manage the main battle tank. Underneath a royal charter and agreement with the government, the Royal Defense Corporation (Gizri: Korporazzjoni tad-Difiża Rjali; KtDR) will oversee a variety of contracts related to the modernization of the armed forces. Chief of the Defense Staff Squadron Admiral Gabrijel Bugeja noted that the first major development will be the drydocking and restoration of the several Qildar-class Frigate, a derivative of the De Zeven Province-class Frigate (also known as the Banstill-class Frigate) that were originally operated by Vanuku. The Prime Minister has announced his intentions to hold talks with a variety of foreign governments to determine the supply of new aircraft, helicopters, main battle tanks and the like to support the modernization and re-organization of the Armed Forces of Cildania. The Ministry of Defense has noted that it has desire to build a native defense industry in the country but it is likely that it will be relegated to licensing foreign equipment to function under Cildanian parameters.
