New Mor Yaqob Cathedral Opens on outskirts of Capital

This March, in Qart Qildar, a Cathedral for the Apostolic Department of Cildania has finally been constructed to replace the old Mor Yaqub Cathedral in the center of the old city. The building cost about 10,000,000 CDC in permits, materials, and labour. Work stalled once during a general strike, but went swimmingly afterwards.

The new church has both been criticized and admired. It's light, airy interior is reminiscent of an open air Qedarite temple yard, but the iconography is stolid and traditional in the strongest sense. However, perhaps, the most striking part of the iconography. The most striking iconography of all, perhaps, are the stars which are seen through the large open windows during nighttime services. Services have begun, but the Cathedral has not been dedicated

Hosian activists continue to demand the reconstruction of the demolished Cathedral. Communists and Phalangists would rather make it a secular remembrance ground or a nationalist memorial

Adon shows he'll back up His Bark With Bite

Adon Adonibaal bin Hiempsal Mekír, who was always well known for putting up a fight, bared his teeth again on the steps of the Adyriim (senate), during deliberations about the construction of a Indralan naval base. The class rhetoric commonly used by Mr. bin Hiempsal Mekír was once again put to display on the 2nd of January 3880. He said the following in regards to the proposal

"If this is passed into law, the workers of Cildania will soon be under attack by outsourcing of jobs, military pressure, and bourgeoisie influence. We have worked tirelessly to attain our freedom from bourgeois imperialism, but some of my parliament just wants to put it back. Even worse than the Seleucians, they want complete aliens to become cost with their battleships and weapons in our country. Constructing this base will be constructing a sword to stab into the heart of the revolution. Workers, we are powerful, and I am on your side"

Amidst the widespread controversy, the Phalangists have become the object of criticism by both the Cildanian Communists and Nationalists, due to the party elite's support of a contradictory proposal to allow foreign non Cildanians to build a military force in the country

He continued to say, in a way which shall not be forgotten

"If we allow this foreign occupation, we'll have Seleucian fascists committing apartheid, and we'll have Ahmadi fascists beheading women, and we'll have Indralans here first, raping our land and destroying our industries by attracting our capitalists there. We will see the loss of jobs, the military oppression of the foreigners...we will not build this base. I will stand with our unions as they refuse to construct this fortress of bourgeoisie piggery. I will stand in a picket. If I must, I will take executive action to close the Indralan Embassy and destroy our ties. Qart Yam will not be defiled by this capitalist menace so long as I am tasked with defending the interests of the people"

Adon Announces successor to Party Leadership

Today, 5 May 3880, the Adon and longtime Chairman of the Communist Party's Politburo, Adonibaal bin Hiempsal Mekír announced that he has chosen a successor to party leadership. The appointee is named Bodmelqaart Emmen. In regards to the appointment, the Adon said

"I am fully convinced of Mr. Emmen's commitment to furtherance of revolutionary ideals. He has shown himself to be an ally of labour, an opponent of fascism, and a capable leader. One day I shall be no longer, and I wish for the people to accept Mr. Emmen as the Party Leader and Chairman"

Mr. Emmen's qualifications are indeed credible and proven. He served as an MP during Imperial rule, bravely resisting and voicing opposition towards the Sibilla Apartheid regime. He has spent a month in prison during Imperial rule. During the glorious Anti-Imperialist Revolution, he served as temporary mayor of Qart Ram, as well as a lieutenant to the Communist General there. After the war, he served as elected mayor of Qart Ramesh since 3877.

He is also well educated, having received his Bachelor's Degree in Arts in Public Planning with high honors at the national university in Qart Qildar. He completed his Master's degree in economics from the Hosian University of Cildania in Qart Yam. Prior to his political involvement, he was a teacher and a union organizer in public school teachers union

Baalhaan bin Melqaart Interviews Beluzian Foreign Minister
Leon Creskov is the Minister for Foreign Affairs for Beluzia, and he serves under a coalition of leftist parties. The Party he belongs to is the Front of the People of Beluzia

BM:. Hello, Comrade Creskov, it is a pleasure to meet you

LC:Yes, it is a pleasure, and a true honor.

BM: first off, what are your thoughts on the state of the Hebilean Afejris and their rebellion against the People's Free

LC:I can understand why they rebel, but that does not justify it. Yes many groups, too many were pushed together into a single state under authoritarian regimes, but the solution is not to give every group its own country. They need to learn to cooperate. I fear that many rebel movements don't want to end oppression, they just wish to flip the roles of oppressor and oppressed, and this is not right.

BM: Interesting...have you ever been to Cildania Mr. Creskov?

LC: Very briefly. I was sent on the naval fleet transporting HRC Soldiers to your revolution against the monarchy. I wish i could have stayed longer.

BM: What are your thoughts on the coalition between Cildanian Nationalists and Communists? Do you think that they conflict with the former Communist resistance to fascist Imperialists here?

LC: That depends on who you ask. Me, I would say that if you both believe in the same cause, why not work together. But if you ask Mr. Thorne, you better be prepared for the rant of your life. He can not stand the face of nationalists, he believes we are all one and the same as the planet's workforce.

BM: Isn't it difficult to share power with a monarchist party in a powerful monarchist state?

LC: Yes, some believe it is the best system because their ancestors supported it, while some believe in it because they have very deep pockets due to their support. We just need to educate people that this is wring, and make them believe that a democracy is correct by being a true government for them

BM: Lets hear a bit about your background. We'd like for Cildanian viewers to know a bit about you.

LC: I was born into a peasant family in Parlos Decina. Due to the generosity of the Thorne Family, I got an education. I traveled the world as a adviser to governments of several countries, before the revolution caused my heart to yearn for home. I retured and was offered a cabinet position by Edward Thorne. I of course accepted.

BM: As Minister of Foreign Affairs, what have you done to incorporate socialism in your nation's diplomacy, how do your fellow members of government respond to this?

LC: I first became a socialist when I saw a man executed because he stole from a noble to feed his family. I wish to incorrperate socialism into it by worked to improve ourselves first, and I am fighting to have our country help all socialist countries and revolutions world-wide. The only people who offer objections are the Stantons, the last party of nobility.

BM: How do you think Cildania could reach out to the Federal Republic of Beluzia

LC: They need to stabilize themselves. We are cautious about reaching out to nations in turmoil, because it is too easy to cause a disaster. We would be happy to send diplomats once peace is achieved.

BM: Are you making any attempts Sir, to improve relations between Cildania and Beluzia?

LC: Yes, this interview is the first of many steps between this eventual goal.

BM: What are your opinions of the Labor strikes in our country which recently took place?

LC: I think this is a difficult question, labor strikes can be both good and bad of course, but i believe that they should not strike because war is a vital time for production, and they would be better listened to in peace.

BM: What do you think of our President, Adonibaal bin Hiempsal Mekír?

LC: He is a great man, and I hope he is able to secure an end to this war.

Intra-Party Coup
Paramilitary leader becomes Baalat

Image
Izabel Bjuwwa, the new Baʿalat of Ṡedeq

May 3880 - The Zuixiao Naval Base scandal proved to be a major embarrassment for the ruling Phalangite party, attracting strong criticism from the Adon and the coalition partners from the Communist Party. The Indralan armed forces had attempted to build a naval base in the city of Qart Yam, as a means to extend Indralan influence into Majatra after their determinant participation in the war against the Ahmadi State. The Phalangite-dominated cabinet offered its approval, contradicting the party's strongly nationalistic and isolationist stance as well as its traditional hostility towards non-Majatran influence on the continent, while the Communist Party was the one to oppose the construction of the naval base. Indrala's decision to ultimately cancel the naval base plans placed the Phalagites in the awkward position of being more internationalist than their foreign allies and their domestic partners.

This scandal ultimately resulted in the removal of Hasdrubaʿl Qadaḣ from the leadership of the party in an internal coup. His replacement as the party's Baʿalat (Leader), Izabel Bjuwwa, was the Commander of the Knights of Qedar, the party's paramilitary wing, who earned much respect for her actions in the civil war. More notably, the new Baʿalat is of partial Afejri descent, marking a shift in the Party's position on non-Qedarite minorities in Cildania and making Bjuwwa a poster child for the Phalangite policy goal of assimilation. There is even talk that Ṡedeq may accept Hebileans as Qedarites, radically breaking from the historical discrimination of Afejris during the Qedarite Republic era.

War is Over
Nation celebrates peace

Image
Religious leaders celebrating peace in Qart Qildar

October 3880 - The Cildanian Civil War was brought to an end exactly ten years after it first began. Starting as a rebellion against the Selucian apartheid regime of Quintus Sibilla, the war saw the defeat of the Imperial government at the hands of a wide and divergent coalition of religious militias, Communist paramilitaries, and monarchists, with considerable foreign support. After a brief break in violence with the fall of Sibilla, war was renewed after the Ahmadi State's penetration into Cildania and the break of relations between the former allies in the Interim Government. Now that the Ahmadi state has been defeated and the remaining two sides were brought into a stalemate, they had no choice but compromise and reach a peace agreement. The Qart Yam Agreement, signed in the Indralan-occupied city of Qart Yam, formalizes the ceasefire declared between the People's Free State and the Independent State of Aheblun. The borders between the two sides remain the same as at the time of the ceasefire, and are now demilitarized and patrolled by an international peacekeeping mission. Additionally, although the text of the Agreement was worded in such a way as to not imply, directly or indirectly, sovereignty for the Independent State of Aheblun, the Hebilean separatist entity has gained practical independence from Qart Qildar, as the latter will not be able to maintain armed forces on Hebilean territory, nor will Cildanian laws be implemented in Aheblun.

While it is clear that this is not a permanent resolution of the conflict, the fact remains that Cildania finally has some respite from the religious, ethnic, and political war that raged for a decade. The end of the war was joyfully celebrated throughout the island and on both sides of the demilitarized border. In Aheblun a monument was constructed commemorating the end of fighting, after the symbolic burning of a few thousand weapons in front of the Saint Alexandra Cathedral of Mort Iskendra. In Qart Qildar peace was symbolically celebrated by religious leaders of all denominations jointly marching through the streets of the city.

With Rejoicing Over Hebilean Self-Determination, Comes Strong Skepticism
A rejoicing majority in Hebilon has been already seen all over the world celebrating the self determination that the Qart Yam Treaty of October 3880 has given Afejris, however some Hebilon residents are not so excited and are bracing themselves for a potential apartheid regime.

These critics are primarily members of the Draddwyr community. Making up about 2% of the Cildanian population, the Draddwyr make up a larger amount of the Hebilean population, at around 8%. They have played an important role in the region. Many settlements in Hebilon have Draddwyr origins, bearing names such as Glyngarth, Tregwyn, and Dynawyd. They have been largely pushed to the wayside, of course, by the Hebilean majority.

One prominent critic is former Cildanian Communist Party member Caedwyn ap Lywellyn, who has now founded a far left Party in Hebilon, known as Plaid Pobl Sosialaiddyn (Socialist People's Party) is speculating that if government and voters don't precede with caution, there is a risk of an apartheid regime taking power. He has served as a councilman in his city of Glyngarth and he said "without the affirmative action of the national government, I would never have been able to go to university in my native Hebilon, same goes for many of my Draddwyr friends and family members"

Draddwyr people compromise a large quantity of educated and well off Hebileans, with 30% of college graduates being Draddwyr in the province. There has, in the past, been issues of racism against the Draddwyr, issues which will likely get worse under Hebilean independence, not better.

Mr. ap Lywellyn pointed out that "a prime prerogative behind my party's platform is equality of Majatrans and Draddwyr in Hebilon, even if we only win one seat, it will be clear that the people are concerned in places about race relations and socialism".

Despite his far left status, Mr. ap Lywellyn is still critical of the Cildanian Communist Party. He, much like other Draddwyr, believe that the party and the usually outspoken Adon have not worked for minority rights in the peace settlement. He said "I respect bin Hiempsal Mekír, but where was he when our workers were being pushed and prodded to produce weapons for the resistance? I'll tell you, he was spouting against Indralan influence"

It is likely that with independence, the Hebileans will face new issues related to race and ethnic differences. We wish Mr. ap Lywellyn much luck in his endeavors to improve race relations in the newly independent Hebilon

President Applauds Free and Fair Elections

September 3881- In August elections took place for the Adyriim (senate) of Cildania. The elections concluded with the Phalangists of Surby Dorkeit Qildarit winning 238 of the 420 seats. The Cildanian Communist Party, Surby Dorkeit Qildarit's coalition partner won 136 seats. An opposition party, the Grand Cildanian National Coalition, has won 61 seats.

Despite his Party's decreased voter turnout, Adon (president) Adonibaal bin Hiempsal Mekír is proud of Cildanians for getting out and voting. He said "despite the losses we faced, I am glad that our revolution is going so well that our second free election after the war stayed free, fair and democratic".

After Sûdru Sûs's brief coup, and an Imperialist apartheid regime, it is reasonable to say that the Cildanian people must be happy too. After all, a poll by the Cildanian Communist Party revealed that 95% of party members thought that election results were fair and rational.

In spite of his party's losses, it seems like the Adon is still popular for his hardball negotiating, populism, and commonness

Qadaḣ: No thanks, Dorvik!
Cildania rejects Dorvish offer

Image

August 3882 - Responding to the offer made by the State Chancellor of the Dorvish Republic, Regismund von Petrov, to help rebuild Cildania while combating international communism, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the People's Free State of Cildania offered a clear rejection.

Our Dorvish allies helped us defeat the religious terrorist menace in Cildania and restore peace. They fought bravely and their help was decisive in our victory, and for that, Cildania shall forever be grateful to Dorvik, as we shall remain grateful to Indrala and Trigunia. All of our foreign allies fought side by side with Cildanians for the sole purpose of restoring stability to our fractured nation.

Now our allies expect our gratitude and friendship, and they want us to express that gratitude by becoming their colonies and a staging ground for a renewed Artanian colonization of Majatra, centuries after the last imperialist Artanian power was cast out of Qedar. And they are right in expecting that from us, for they so selflessly helped us defeat the Ahmadi State, with no ulterior motive or colonialist designs. We would be fools not to accept their offer, fools to be so ungrateful as to not allow Cildania to become a colony, fools not to fall on our knees in front of those who now rule the world and become their humble subjects.

If that is what the Artanian colonialists want, then we are fools! We are ungrateful bastards who selfishly want to see our nation independent, united, and prosperous, free from the power of Artanian colonialism. We therefore reject the generous offer made by the Dorvish, just as we reject and condemn Hebilean separatism used by the Dorvish imperialists in Vanuku to divide our nation. And we remind our so-called allies that "International Communism" is one of the central forces for the liberation of Qedar from all forms of foreign interference on our Continent. It was "International Communists" that finally freed Qedarite Beiteynu from under Luthori imperialism, it was "International Communists" who joined the first Qedarite Revolution in Cildania, it was the "International Communist" hero Jalal Al-e Ahmad who destroyed Zardic capitalistic imperialism in Qedar, and it was the "International Communists" who bravely defeated the Selucian minority regime at Qart Ramesh.

To Dorvik and Vanuku we say this: you may have the upper hand now, you may command greater armies and own more tanks and missiles and planes. But there is one thing you lack and we, the peoples of Majatra have, the hearts and minds of all Qedar, who, following the path of the Cildanian and Kathuran peoples, will soon rise and liberate our continent from the foreign imperialist menace of the Dorvish colonial empire. The men and women of Qedar will no longer be subjugated to Artanian colonialism.

Adon Lauds Statements Made by Hasdrubaʿl Qadaḣ
September 3882- After Foreign Minister Qadah's statements in the defense of international communism, the well liked, hard-talking Adon (president) Adonibaal bin Hiempsal Mekír responded with high congratulations and a message of support. He said the following

Today, in this international world, where ideas and communications travel at the click of a mouse, or pressing of a button, it takes a lot of courage to stand up for principles and people who have been left behind and often been placed under attack by these bourgeoisie powers of capitalist communication and influence. The brave words of my friend, comrade, and fellow minister in government, Hasdruba 'l Qadah, are quite simply, the example of a man who is willing to stand up for what is the will of the people: Communism.

The foreign minister through his statements and diplomatic actions, has defended a revolution in which the worker's gained incredible strides, government became accountable in unprecedented ways, and a gap in income began to be closed. I am proud that our government is defending the spirit and actions of our revolution.
