Finance Chancellor "uncertain" that ONCP goal can be reached.

Image
Ms. Taylor is still smiling while answering the journalist questions.

LERNA - Pontesi's Finance Chancellor, Cassiopiea Taylor, state her dubious that the Pontesian Dynastic Empire can achieved ONCP goal of reducing the government expenditure to 7% of the GDP by increasing the private investment without "substantial investment in insfrustructure and transportation system" and that the proposed raise of spending is a necessary measure to boost private investment in the Empire.

Ms. Taylor, an MP from the Democrat Party, answer the journalist question regarding ONCP goal of acheiving a huge cut in all government spending by stating that, " Foreign and private investor have raised a concern that our current insfrustrcture system is inadequate to support the growth of their business in Pontesi. I agreed with them and have discuss with Chancellor of Infrastructure and Transport regarding the plan to improve the transporation system and the insfrustructure system in Pontesi. We feels that 30,000,000,000 PON is an adequate start for this project." She also stated that 30,000,000,000 PON for the Ministry of Environment and Tourism was also needed to improve the country tourism image following tension in the area and also to improve the environment by using ad-campaign to increase awareness in the population. "Our tourism is in dire need for help. We have neglacted this huge business with crisis after crisis in our nation."

"It's impossible that the private investment will have any willingness to make investment if we failed to show our confident in our economy by investing in it first." She added. "And we hoped that the Grand-Vizier General will understand our position and needed to boost our economy"

Lerna Opens New Terminal

Image
Inside the newly opened fifth terminal at Lerna Airport in Lerna.

LERNA — Billed as a pristine departure from gloomy walkways, threadbare carpets, lost bags and institutionalized delays, a fifth terminal at Lerna International Airport (LIA) was officially inaugurated Friday, opening a contentious new chapter in the battle between aviation and the environment. LIA, the airport operator, promised speedier check-in and rapid passage through security controls, but one feature of the gleaming new steel-and-glass terminal seemed unchanged from its predecessors: with 112 retail outlets, including GlobalTech and Nartier, Terminal 5 will be as much a temple of consumption as a place to board airplanes.

Part of a 30,000,000,000 PON plan to improve Pontesi's insfrustructure. Lerna International Airport will be “this 27th-century gateway to Pontesi and, to us, the wider world.” said Chancellor of Infrastructure and Transport, Sophia Smith. Terminal 5 will be used exclusively by Pontesian Airways, to the annoyance of rivals from Beiteynu and Barmenistan. Globally, LIA ranks among the busiest airports, handling 100 million passengers a year. With 10 miles of baggage-conveyor belts at the new terminal meant to carry up to 12,000 items of luggage per hour, LIA says baggage handling will be enhanced. Some 660 security workers will hasten checks through 20 channels, and travelers will be required to arrive at the security area 35 minutes before takeoff to prevent delays.

The construction of LIA newest terminal and many other project by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is a part of a plan to move Pontesi into new century as a hub for global transportation.

'Women overburden logistics and fighting men'

The One Nation Conservative Party has introduced a bill aimed at removing the presence of women on front-line battlefield positions. The Armed Forces Act deems that women are not only less capable than men in terms of fighting capability but are also a constant drain on military logisitics and male soldiers' emotional condition. The bill was introduced by the Grand Vizier General Archibald Fotheringhay MP - a Lieutenant Commander in the Imperial Navy. Fotheringhay stated to journalists that 'women are of course valued members of the armed forces but their specialialities are in the fields of providing support for the fighting men on the frontline'.

Grand Vizier General, Lieutenant Commander Archibald Fotheringhay MP believes women are a 'natural resource in terms of supporting frontline male soldiers' but are otherwise a 'logistical and emotional drain on the operational capacity of the military' when implanted with a front line unit.

The bill further seeks to re-introduce the 'don't ask, don't tell' doctrine regarding homosexuals in the armed forces as a matter of 'providing moral and emotional stability to units and eradicating any undue distractions.' The opinions of the other parties are not yet known.

ONCP threaten to walk out of unity government

The One Nation Conservative Party has threatened to leave the current unity government if the DMP does not withdraw threats to revert to violence if the 'Conservative Future' Act passes. The ultimatum was issued after DMP member, Misoslav Vadik MP, stated that 'maybe we must resort to violence once more' and 'let the radicals in our Party have access to our weapons again'. Archibald Fotheringhay MP, Grand Vizier General and ONCP leader has demanded the retraction of the threat before he can commit his party to the cabinet after the election. Fotheringhay stated to journalists that 'the DMP has exceeded the bounds of decency and must publicly withdraw its outrageous comments before the ONCP can tolerate a future for the unity government.' Officials from the Democrat Party have attempted to draw compromises from both the OCNP and DMP in order to prevent political instability but it is yet unknown how successful these attempts will be.

LERNA - The Democrat Party secured an unexpected landslide victory in this week's Pontesi general elections, paving the way for party leader Jonathan Carrick to become Grand-Vizier General, according to official results released by the Electoral Commission.

But the DP, which has convincingly won many election since the it's creation, fell short of retaining a two-thirds parliamentary majority that would have given it a mandate to change the constitution. The DP won 57.25 percent, or 109,526,677 votes, according to results published on the Independent Electoral Commission's Web site. Despite performing strongly in Xanduley, the Federalist Party polled just 29.00 percent of the national vote. The Democratic Marxist Party, formed by a leftist movement created by ex-President of the short-lived commonwealth Warren Jarol, polled 13.75 percent.

"The people have spoken," Carrick said in a statement on the DP's Web site. "They have gone out in their millions, in peace and calm, to freely vote for a party of their choice. They have voted for a better future for all, for decent work, quality education, access to health care, safer communities and strong policy aganist terrorist and foreign aggression. Now we must get down to work to implement this mandate for faster change. Working together we will build a Pontesi of expanding opportunity for all, a nation united in its diversity, at peace with itself and the world."

Until recently, Carrick is a Minister of Defence in Archibald Fotheringhay government, an only son of a Rildanorian mother and a Pontesian Army's Major that work as a Military Liaison in Rildanor embassy for five years before married to his wife and return to Pontesi with his family. He enrolled in St.Hewlett Academy before transfering to Fort Roger Military Academy to followed in the foot step of his father, achieved the rank of Captain before retired and join the Democrat Party following his marriage to Dr. Miranda Carrick (née Guderian). He is a spokesperson for the Democrat Party before elected as a new party leader in a national democrat convention during a week before the election.

It is expected that he will be appointed as Grand-Vizier General by December 2762. The rumour is that a cabinet will be coalition between DP and DMP, leaving the FP as an opposition in the August Parliament of the Cedar Throne.

Pontesi establishes Protectorate over Gaduridos

Protectorate of Gaduridos edition

Image
Anti-revolutionary crowds gathered outside the native council in anticipation of the establishment of the protectorate

Hadarville, Gaduridos. With a crowd numbering over one hundred thousand the words of Viceroy Percy Scott - 'let it be known that the terrors of the revolutionary military junta shall no longer haunt the minds of the people of this nation' - were broadcast to an emotional people. For the past few decades, the corrupt military junta has oppressed its own people and driven the country into a sustained period of decay and destruction. Pontesian expatriate, Archibald Fotheringhay, has been celebrated by much of the country as the man who rallied public opposition to the revolutionary government and plotted its downfall. Fotheringhay stated, 'Gaduridos has failed throughout its history because its people are uneducated and incapable of properly governing themselves and so they have left themselves vulnerable to the corrupt and disloyal military forces that scour this land like ravaging vultures'. The decision was thus taken to extend to the Pontesian Imperial Government the invitation to establish a protectorate over Gaduridos. Viceroy Scott said it is 'an honour and a privilidge to represent Emperor David I of Pontesi and King of Gaduridos to the natives'.

The armed forces of Gaduridos have now been largely de-mobilised and disarmed in preparation for the arrival of Pontesian forces who will in future provide defence and security for the protectorate. The scale of the task before the Pontesian forces is said to be 'substantial' after years of underfunding has led to the decay of most military bases and infrastructure. The roads within the nation are largely pot-holed and susceptible to flooding. The Protectorate Government has announced its intention to increase investment by 20 times the existing amount.

Image
Transport plane arrived with mens from 4th Infantry Division.

NORTH BENTARA - The first group of a newly created Army-Group Gaduridos consisted of 950 soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division is sent by the Ministry of Defence to Gaduridos to restore peace and order after severals years of Military Junta rule that destroyed the country had arrived yesterday at North Bentara International Airport before securing an abandoned airbase in the area.

Another 220 members of the Engineering Division are due later this week, bringing the total number of the Army-Group Gaduridos’s members dispatched in Darfur to Gaduridos to 1,170 withe even more ordered to move within this year that will raise the number to a total of 100,000 Pontesian Troops, Ministry of Defence spokesperson Michael Davis told reporters. OOC: *Spin-off from the US Most-wanted Iraqi playing cards.

Damn... I should stop writing this without caffeine....

The 'Most Wanted' Deck

Image

NORTH BENTARA - Pontesian Brig. Gen. Gil Rosenfelt on Friday announced that Pontesian soldiers have been issued a list of 55 former Junta leaders in several forms, including posters, handbills and a deck of playing cards with pictures of former regime leaders. "To ease identification when contact does occur," Rosenfelt said.

The cards combine elements of wanted posters, playing cards and trading cards. Instead of batting averages and earned run averages, the cards list job descriptions. And they're ranked, apparently, according to who is wanted the most. "Clubs are financiers and businessmen; Diamonds are important figures in the disbanded Gaduridos army including General Juan Esteban Pedernera; Hearts are biological, nuclear, and chemical scientists; Spades are tacticians and General Rafael M. Levingston's personal bodyguards, General Rafael M. Levingston, and the unknown Commander de Communism." he said.

General Juan Esteban Pedernera is the ace of diamonds. Son Major Mark Pedernera is the ace of clubs. The ace of spades, of course, is General Rafael M. Levingston, the former head of Junta.

There are two jokers: One lists pntek titles, the other gaduridos military ranks.

An official at the Ministry of Defence told The Pontesian Enquirer that only a couple of hundred decks had been sent to the combat zone, but that more could be dealt out in a jiffy.

"Protectorate under control" said Carrick.

Image
Mr. Carrick leaving after his meeting with the cabinet.

LERNA - Grand-Vizier General Jonathan Carrick warned Pontesians on Wednesday that the situation in Gaduridos would require “difficult choices and additional sacrifices” in the coming year, but he firmly rejected the notion that the situation is escalating and vowed that the Empire had made "significant progress" in the nation.

Administration and some military officials believe that without adequate security, particularly in region still occupied by militia, any progress in Gaduridos would be difficult if not impossible. Once the level of violence is brought under control, the Pontesian military could then conceivably concentrate on accelerating the training for Protectorate security forces. But administration officials stress the military option is only one part of a larger, more comprehensive strategy. The plan also would throw more Pontesian money at Gaduridos for reconstruction and a jobs program.

“Situation is improving,” Mr. Carrick said, addressing reporters in the press room across the street from the government House, in a historic office building once used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He added, “Our goal remains a democratic Gaduridos that can govern itself, sustain itself and defend itself from internal and external influence."

"I had sent the Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Rain, to the protectorate to assess the situation and interact with Gaduridos internal government so that we can increase the speed of country rebuilding progress." he added.

Carrick criticise NATO failure to protect Gaduridos.

Image
Grand-Vizier General answering questions from reporters.

LERNA - During the press conference following Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, Midori Rain, trip to Pontesian Protectorate of Gaduridos, Pontesian Grand-Vizier General, Jonathan Carrick, criticize the Northern Area Treaty Organization for failure to notice human-right violation and disruption of democracy of the nation by the Military Junta during the entire membership of the nation in the organization.

"It's simply dissappointing that the organization that claim to protect the nation from all aggressions failed to notice the threat from inside and allow such violation aganist human right and democracy to continue despite numerous evidences that indicates Military involvement in the democracy system and haressment aganist opposition politicians and gaduridos population." he said. When asked if this is a response to allegation by Lodamun's president Gregory Kynes that Pontesi is asserting their influence over the nation, the Grand-Vizier General said: "I haven't get to read that yet, but my response is that Gaduridos is currently in a fragile state that resulted from centuries of internal conflict and human right violation that had been disregarded by international community and international organization, Pontesi is obliged by our close relation with Gaduridos's Pntek population to aid the nation during this rebuild and to bring the Junta leader to justice. Our presence in the nation is requested by Gaduridos government and we will continue to assist the nation in anyway that they required."

He also express concern that DIC committee report from Pontesi regarding Lodamun democracy had yet to be delivered to the General Assembly and the Security Council despite the fact that Pontesi had already delivered them. "It's been a while and I am concerned that there had yet to be any discussion about it in the General Assembly."

The reporters then proceed to asked whether this situation combined with the walk-out by Pontesi's representative to the UNT, Mr. Stephen Beck, from the UNTSC meeting indicates any shifted in Pontesi's policy to the organization. "I have discussed that with Mrs. Rain and Mr. Beck and we have decided to relieved Mr. Beck from the position and appoint Mr. Mark Wurtzel as our new Representative to the United Nation of Terra. It's our hope that our decision to join the organization is a correct one and that it won't turn into one nation platform for their own agenda."

He finished by announcing that the Emperor will visited Keymon and Gaduridos later this year. "His Imperial Excellency is deeply concerned by the situation in the nation, but we have asked him to postponed his visit until the end of the year for security reason. His visiting schedule will not be announce because of that reason."
