Is Dorvik prepared?February, 4488Haldor, Kordusia - ADV Party Secretary for Defense and a former staff officer of the Supreme General Staff Major Gen. Wilhelm Herschel in an interview with the newspaper has condemned the down turn in attention paid to the Dorvish Armed Forces. The Maj. Gen. Asserts that the “Communist and socialist obstructionist” have condemned the Dorvish to a “...weak nation without leaders.” The Maj. Gen. cited the current alliance of the now defunct Liberal Union, the Pragmatic Liberal Democrat’s and Alliance ‘73 as the only hope for Dorvik against the “...red scourge.”
The Maj. Gen. went on to explain that the Dorvish Armed Forces have not properly conducted war games in several years, have not met their obligations for training or readiness. When asked the Maj. Gen. stated that the DAF were operated at only 60% and that the failure was not necessarily on the current government but previous governments. He also cited issues with maintenance and the problems recruiting soldiers to fight understand the shadow of a communist and socialist government.
Budget cuts, mismanagement and a wide variety of issues have plagued the DAF. A series of temporary, highly contentious Inspector-Generals have been unable to make much headway before being replaced or having to answer to senseless inquiries by the Communist and Socialist who manage to lie and deceive their way into power.
When asked about the status of the DAF if someone where to come to power, the Maj. Gen. noted that the Dorvish habe obligations to overseas bases such as the Tanus von Desidier Naval Installation in Kafuristan, whose status is unknown due to a rise of a pro-Communist/Socialist government in Kafuristan. As well as obligations to a naval base on Ostland founded by agreement following the end of the Dovani War.
The Maj. Gen. also attacked Alliance ‘73 for the proposed “treaty” with Solentia that permits Solentia to open a military base on Dorvish soil. The Maj. Gen. noted that while the Dorvish had somewhat fallen they were not to be made pawns of some small, negligible power in Majatra and demanded that the proposal be withdrawn. The Maj. Gen. also pointed out that it was illegal under current Dorvish laws referencing the Law on the Defense of Dorvish Territorial Sovereignty which passed without opposition in the State Council and forbids any foreign power from possess a military base or installation, or even foreign forces from residing on Dorvish soil.
General Herschel has called on all parties to condemn the affront to Dorvish territorial sovereignty outright. While the recent Zardic Institute of International Affairs rankings have slightly downgraded Dorvik, it goes without saying that the Dorvish Armed Forces and Dorvik as a whole can easily recapture their place in the world. Dorvik has tremendous wealth and natural resources, one of the few places where timber is constantly an economic miracle as well as having a thriving cold-weather agriculture industry.
