MEET DORVIK'S NEW PRESIDENT
Image
Marcus Neuhäusser, the new President

Marcus Neuhäusser has been elected President of Dorvik and no one really expected it. He defied all odds to become election by less than 400,000 votes in the second round of voting. DNS correspondent, Siglande Heilmeier has had the honour to meet with the busy newly elected President, who is still trying to figure out the new cabinet.

SH: Thank you Mr.President for meeting with me

MN: My pleasure, thank you for having me

SH: Congratulations on your victory!

MN: Thank you I was shocked. I couldn't believe it when I saw the exit polls!

SH: What will be your vision for next 4 years?

MN: Well, I want to lead a strong, competent government and to make Dorvik more palatable to the international community.

SH: Are you nervous?

MN: Of course, but I hope to serve all the Dorvish people

SH: Thank you so much, goodnight

Communists table anti-Selucia motion

Communist leader Anton Weinreich has tabled a parliamentary motion condemning Selucia for its legislation forcing citizens to be members of the state church and compelling Yeudis to wear easily-identifiable white armbands. He described the state religion laws as "narrow-minded and oppressive" and the anti-Yeudi law as "crass, bigoted and disgusting".

However, at least for the time being, Weinreich is delaying putting the motion to a formal vote, in order to give Selucia's post-election parliament an opportunity to change the legislation which is being objected to.

"Grasp the nettle of religious extremism," says Weinreich

Under pressure from his own party colleagues and with the threat of the Hosian Preservation Front increasing, Anton Weinreich has urged Dorvik's leaders to "grasp the nettle of religious extremism" and "not allow this problem to get further out of control". He has also proposed a controversial Secular State & Secular Education Act before parliament, that would ban religious schools and ban public officials from wearing religious items of dress whilst performing their public duties.

This move has been strongly supported by most in the party, although Rudi Hutmacher, the party's Religious Affairs Officer, has complained the move "is likely to be interpreted as a sign of hostility by religious communities" and warned "this could undermine much of the good work that has gone into changing the image of the Communists as an anti-religious party".

The Leader of the Centre Left Opposition Dorvik For All Party,Mrs.Salma Kazim has called for the Dorvish Government to join Aloria and Support the Removal of the Undemocratic BDP Regime which has enacted a series of Draconian anti Democratic Legistlation in the name of "shock therapy".She pointed out to the fact that the BDP celebrated the Sudden Disappearance of Opposition Labour Republican MPs and also to the fact that the BDP has engaged in large scale corruption as it's party website prides itself with receiving kickbacks. She stated that all of these warranted Dorvish Involvement in Beluzia and that Dorvik Has to step in and ensure that Democracy Blossoms again in the nation. She said that Dorvik Should not continue to be a mute spectator with regards to the incidents in Beluzia and also stated that Dorvik should open its doors to Those Fleeing the Wewecho Regime.

Pfeiffer hosts conference on "Capitalism in Music"

Image

Former Communist leader Friedrich Pfeiffer has hosted a conference of the Communist Teachers Association in Küssingen, Westmark, on the subject of "Capitalism in Music". Speaker after speaker, Pfeiffer included, rose to the podium to denounce the influence of pro-capitalist ideology in popular music, arguing the population is being brainwashed, particularly children.

The conference voted for resolutions calling on the government to introduce "consciousness-raising music lessons" in schools, to teach children about "how the bourgeoisie uses popular culture in order to promote and legitimise its exploitative rule", and also calling on the government to introduce a new official "C" rating for "all pieces of music which feature a pro-capitalist agenda".

Pfeiffer intends to put these motions to the next Communist Party Conference, and hopes to see them formally adopted as party policy. However, party leader Anton Weinreich is not keen, commenting he "understands the concerns people have" but that "as a party we need to focus on the core concerns of working people and not get sidelined by more marginal issues".

Heilprin Expresses Concern Over Rapa Pile Election, Vacant Seats

Image

At the first national convention held by One Dorvik in the capital of Haldor, concerns over international and national events were raised by party leader Bianca Heilprin. These concerns were mixed in with a series of policy announcements, and speeches held by party members on the votes of the party on each bill proposed during the term. Activists from every area of Dorvik were present, as the party tries to build up its ground game. Infrastructure at a local level is considered weak for the party, especially in the South were the party's predecessors previously dominated. Now, with the TGP moving left, there may be a place for One Dorvik in the South again.

Heilprin mentioned the results in Rapa Pile, where an election resulted in an unexpected majority for the Freedom Party, at 171 seats, over the Socialist Party and Nationalist Party, at 91 and 36 seats each respectively. One independent was elected in the Capital. A hardliner and far-right president was elected also, over a liberal one, with Shanika Addararachchi winning big in rural areas. Heilprin says that 'it is a worrying sign' for third-world nations to be turning to extreme solutions for the issues that face them. However, the population of the nation may beg to differ, as her policies on pirate-hunting both got her elected, and made her hated internationally.

Heilprin's other concern is the large number of vacant seats in Dorvik. After the collapse of the Feminist Party, 82 seats in the Dorvish Parliament were left empty. The last time so many of the Parliament's seats were vacant, an early election was called that resulted in a bad election for One Dorvik's predecessor, Renewal. Heilprin brings up this standard, and says that she thinks 'despite not wanting an early election, it will be needed if another party disbands, as the people must be represented'. How the government reacts to these concerns, often held by the public as well, may shape the government's internal and foreign policy. No response is expected from the government.

Communist agricultural collectivisation proposals draws fury of the south

Image

Image

Image

Farmers from the southern states of Largonia and Miktar are pouring onto the streets in protest at a Communist proposal to nationalise their farms and place them under collectivised worker control. Roads are being blocked with tractors and cattle and demonstrations are being held in city centres. Also, the frontage of the office of the Dorvish Communist Party in Frostenbruck has been vandalised 9 times in 8 days, and the leader of the Kriesefels branch of the Communist Party has had 3 tonnes of cow manure dumped from a tractor into his front garden.

Southern separatists have seized on the proposal as evidence of the Haldor parliament being controlled by left wing radicals who do not understand or value the traditional southern way of life. Reports are coming in of farmers amassing firearms and organising to "defend their land" should the law be passed.

Communist leader Anton Weinreich has brushed off criticisms that he is responsible for whipping up tensions, arguing "this was an item in our election manifesto and we have every right to propose this policy to the Dorvish parliament". He has also accused "wealthy vested interests" of "seriously misrepresenting our proposals" and "using aggressive tactics to try to manipulate the political process".

Pfeiffer offers to mediate between Rapa Pile government and pirates

Former Communist leader Friedrich Pfeiffer has written to Rapa Pile's new President, Shanika Addararachchi, offering his services to "help mediate between your government and the pirates who are operating off your country's coastline". He called on the President to "dialogue with the pirates" and "come to a reasonable compromise", arguing that "99% of the pirates in your part of the world are very decent people who are just trying to help their families and communities" but that "they are subject to a terrible amount of prejudice and misunderstanding".

Pfeiffer claims to be in touch with some of the pirates, and says "they live an admirable and communistic lifestyle, all looking after one another and caring for one another, equally sharing all of the plunder they take". He also argues the pirates "are not really pirates, in the sense of being thieves, because the stuff they are taking was obtained through exploitation anyway".

Bianca Heilprin: Our Focus Is On Dorvik

Image

In spite of disappointing election results for One Dorvik, in which the party lost one seat and abstained from the Presidential election, the party has declared that it 'will not dwell on the results of this election' and is instead focused on the development of Dorvik and sustaining 'Dorvik's role in the world'. One Dorvik also has declined any interest in entering government, currently supporting a continuation of the present government, and hoping to chalk up legislative victories for their policies. The party performed broadly the same in every region, in every district and in every province. Abstaining from the Presidential election likely helped to hand the TGP a victory in the Presidential election.

Looking forward, the party has stated that it will be pushing for third-way alternatives to the major parties. Party leaders Bianca Heilprin and Leopold Fric will continue on in their roles, and Heilprin has continued to push the case for moderation in Rapa Nui, after recent developments about government policy. Heilprin told DNS that 'while the results were extremely disappointing, they did show that there is an appetite for a reasoned alternative, as the country rewarded parties willing to moderate themselves'. Heilprin declined to comment on possibly running for President in future elections, after speculation she would run in this cycle. Instead, most of the party vote went to the KRA and then TGP.

Fric has also called out the TGP's recent proposals, including some to give an opt-out for vaccines and deregulation education, as 'dangerous to the people'. He criticised the 'danger that the TGP is putting our children in, subjecting them to diseases and possibly subjecting them to sub-standard education'. Fric also said that the TGP was 'misunderstanding religious voters in the south, thinking they just want generic ethnoreligiousity'. Fric did, however praise the TGP for standing up against farm regulation - which would strange the southern economy - and standing up against the abolition of religion by the National Socialists - a proposal which brought about mass protest in the South.

PRESIDENT ASWALT
Theodore Aswalt wins the presidency and announces plans

Theodore Aswalt the TGP party president has won the presidential elections against the incumbent Marcus Neuhäusser.
It was a battle hard fought just like the previous election but this time Aswalt managed to take the presidency with valued support of the PPU.
But while Aswalt has won the presidency and his party has once again become the biggest in Paliament a big danger looms....

The security council voted in favor of sending troops to Hulstria in resolution 50. This obligates Dorvik to send 70.000 men to contribute giving Aswalt a major task in the first few days of his presidency.
The strategy of the president seems to be aggressive. He proposed a force more than twice as big as needed to be send to Hulstria in order to "quickly end this war and minimize the amount of casualties on all side's"

Image

Dorvik seems divided on the issue of war. The president however has no choice but to send troops or he would lose prestige and support for Dorvik in the security council since resolution 50 forces member states to contribute.

While this issue continues TGP member Jako Warman commented on the Ein Dorvik party's comments on misunderstanding religious community's in the south.

The south is supporting the TGP fully. We propose what we feel is best for all of Dorvik and do include certain religious proposals to help the predominantly religious south to have more of their believes represented in decision making.
We wouldnt call that misunderstanding and the people of the south seem to agree with us on that. Although we can ofcourse not reflect every person in Dorvik we are trying our best to give the various groups in this nation a voice. All of them.

Afterwards Warman told reporters he valued the support of One Dorvik regarding the protection of southern agriculture and called for One Dorvik to join in an upcoming demonstration condeming the proposal to prevent it from happening again.

PRESIDENT'S PLANS

The president announced his plans just after the session in paliament concerning Hulstria.

As we have done for the past years we will continue to work with the DSU in government. We are very positive about both conservative and socialist policy's passed in the past year and the excellent budget that expands funding for the crucial parts of our society. This government managed to also reduce the pressure on middle income family's and ensure their financial stability. Therefor we would be happy to continue this partnership in its current form.
Other plans of me and this government will include more attention for social issues in this country and more delegation of tasks to local governments to ensure the south but also the other regions get some autonomy in our unitarian republic.
I myself now have the task of leading us into war. I know this is hard for many of you and i know i would have wanted it differently myself. But we have a obligation to the international community to stand up to the tyrants of this world. To fight for democracy for freedom and for liberty. Because that is what we have always done. We stood and still stand as a pillar of freedom and democracy in this world. Lets free millions of others to give them the same we have enjoyed for century's. Freedom. Men will die. Family's will mourn. But we have an obligation by law and by principle to fight this war and rid this world from yet another evil force. May god be with us. We will continue to fight for not only Dorvik itself, but also for the Dorvish identity in which the free world can see itself.

Image
President Aswalt smiling when talking about the Dorvish principles during his speech. Clearly being proud of his nation

A positive picture painted by the president. Many praised his speech for being hope giving and very presidential. Painting a realistic but still hopefull future for the conflict to come and the years that follow.

We also hear of more news about the HPF (Hosian Preservation Front)
We will come to you when we have detailed information.
