Continued fractures within the DVB prompt new inter-party alliance
September 4963

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Representatives have gathered in Haldor to discuss the future of "The People's Movement" (Dundorfian: Die Volksbewegung) commonly called the "DVB" at the behest of senior party officials and leaders. This has lead my Dorvish political spectators to suggest that the DVB might be gearing up for a change. This comes after internal sources leaked to the Dorvish press that prominent young leaders within the DVB such as Miktarian Oberpräsident Ansgar Hans von Lÿndow-Sennhein and Joachim Ullmann, a Provincial Councilor from Greater Kordusia, have called for the current leadership of the Dorvish Republic and the DVB to step down and make way for a younger, more active network of leaders. According to internal reports Lÿndow-Sennhein and Ullmann have formed a party group known as the Blue-White-Black Alliance (Dundorfian: Blau-Weiß-Schwarz-Allianz) which brings together a number of factions within the DVB including Lÿndow-Sennhein and Ullmann's own Dorvish Conservative League faction that has attracted the membership of younger, more ambitious politicians. This has been joined by a number of nobles who serve in various government positions and non-government positions who have called for a greater role of the Dorvish Republic in both regional and international affairs, a number of them calling on the Dorvish government to continue rapprochement with the new Dundorfian government which has once again become somewhat stable compared to previous years; a relationship that has been icy over various decades. In the wake of the calls for action since last month President Vahlen noted that the Dundorfian-Dorvish defense cooperation has continued in the wake of an arms deal that prompted the development a of new variant of the feared Leopard 2 Dorvish main battle tank.

Fractures within the DVB?
January, 4964

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Shortly after a meeting with President Vahlen in late September, 4963 it was announced that the State Council voted to approve early elections for October, 4964 and announced that Miktarian Oberpräsident Ansgar Hans von Lÿndow-Sennhein would become State Chancellor in late December, 4963. Lÿndow-Sennhein will replace Helmine Rosengarten as the State Chancellor before her "term" is completed. The State Council formally approved Lÿndow-Sennhein's move to State Chancellor as he resigned his position as the head of the Miktarian provincial government. Lÿndow-Sennhein will be joined by Joachim Ullmann as Vice State Chancellor and will take up leadership of the Foreign Office. In the wake of the announcement in October, 4963 the new government announced a number of bills and acts of government aimed at restoring Dorvish confidence in the government. The largest overhaul is the "Law on Dorvish Reconstruction and Liberalization" which aims at liberalizing the Dorvish infrastructure to allow for more competitive free market movement in the sector. For instance, the act authorized local governments to maintain their own fire prevention departments, something that has been lobbied for in recent years as the State Fire Service has faced a recruitment crisis. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport confirmed that the State Fire Service would continue to exist but would fill a much different role compared to is past role of providing fire prevention and fire management services; it would focus on assisting local departments and would provide large-scale search and rescue operations as well as emergency management. Another major change is the allowance of private post offices, a move sponsored by the Dorvish Postal Service (Dundorfian: Dorvische Post), which will allow Dorvish Post to contract with more local providers to better serve the Dorvish population as a whole. The next major change is that the Dorvish State Railways will assume total ownership and control over all railways throughout Dorvik but will permit local operation companies to lease them, thus providing constant funding for the Dorvish State Railways.

Supreme General Staff confirms carrier retrofit
August, 4965

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Dorvish defense officials have announced that one of two Dorvish nuclear powered aircraft carriers will undergo refitting. The first, the DNS Heike Grossberg assigned to the Lievenian Sea Fleet will be brought back to several naval ports in Dorvik for various stages of refitting. It will be followed by the DNS König und Kaiser Ludwig which is assigned to the South Ocean Fleet. The last of the remaining aircraft carriers, the DNS Prince of Rohr-Mauss was deemed fit for service but after the other two aircraft carriers return, it will likewise go back for servicing. This is a part of the wider Dorvish Navy’s program at modernizing and updating their fleet. A number of programs have taken place since the DVB, now the DKV has resumed power. Following their immediate assumption to power the DVB began a program of modernizing the rest of the fleet, including the aircraft assigned to the Marineflieger or the Naval Aviation component of the Dorvish Navy.

As more and more the Dorvish Republic gathers its strength, it’s going to look to project its power more. The Dorvish have sought new diplomatic allies, rumors of talks between Jakania and Dorvik have prompted a rush on businesses looking to invest and Jakanian businesses to invest in Dorvik. Some have cited recent activity in Kazulia, Lourenne and elsewhere as potential “traditional” allies that could spur both defense and economic activity for the Dorvish Republic. The Foreign Office has spent the past several years replacing or moving ambassadors and representatives abroad, some retiring others being retired.

Dorvish defense officials have made comments about potentially expanding defense and security cooperation in the Artanian Community, a topic currently being discussed within the Artanian Parliament. A broad cross Artanian defense initiative would likely be lead by Dorvik with Dundorf, Aloria and potentially a reinvigorated Luthori taking leading part. This move would have lasting ramifications on the current incoherent or non existent power blocs throughout the globe. This focus has also shifted to supporting Artanian allies in Dundorf where the Dorvish government authorized the sale of the ADG Tornado aircraft to the Dundorfian government mid-August, the initial sale is expected to be for 50 aircraft in total with options for further aircraft.

Vahlen stands down for re-election, leadership contest to follow for Presidency
June 4984

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Kilian Vahlen, the President of the Dorvish Republic since April of 4956 has managed to cling to his role as leader of the Dorvish Conservative League for several decades. This is despite a heavy challenge in September 4963 and later where he managed to survive leadership challenge after leadership challenge. Vahlen has remained a popular but controversial figure in Dorvish politics since his entrance in the political field. The aging President, now nearly 80 years old has finally announced that he is stepping down and will not run for re-election in October 4988; this is despite wishes of State Chancellor Ansgar Hans von Lÿndow-Sennhein who has often sparred with the President and called him the "...largest roadblock to the Dorvish Republic and its success in the international community...". It is likely that Lÿndow-Sennhein will not survive the leadership test either as Reiner Leupold, a rising star in the Dorvish Republic's political field, has announced his intention to compete for the leadership of the DKV as a whole. Leupold is the current Minister-President of Greater Kordusia, the elected head of government in Greater Kordusia. Leupold, who will be competing against Lÿndow-Sennhein in the Presidential race within the DKV, is an impressive young politician who has drawn many to his side on both sides of the political spectrum. Leupold has governed with a coalition from the Social Democratic Party of Dorvik for several years and has consistently been marked as a "deal maker" within government. Lÿndow-Sennhein however has been seen as a promising but failed politician who has failed to live up to his reputation, this pitfall which he attributes to President Vahlen standing in his way.

Despite the challenges the Dorvish government has faced, the economic outlook of Dorvik has remained relatively promising as investment from Saridan, Lourenne and new developing economies such as Luthori, Mordusia, and others continue to grow. It is not without its challenges however as the Dorvish government has faced rising unemployment and inflation in the past several years as the world economic outlook has dimmed in the wake of struggling economies and stagnant governments.

Dorvish government and Artanian Defense Group file copyright lawsuits against Aloria
October 4984

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Trade and Industry Minister Fritz von und zu Gießen, Artanian Defense Group Vice President for Patent and Copyright Affairs Amelie Der Gaerwer and the Ministry of Science and Technology have filed lawsuits against Aloria Aerospace and Aeronauctics alleging serious copyright infringement. The basis for the lawsuit in Dorvish courts which might extend to the Artanian Community’s own Parliament states that the Alorian government stole designs for the Artanian Defense Group’s Unionfighters and passed them off as their own; selling them to the Dundorfian government in 4981. VP Der Gaerwer stated to the Dorvish press and other Artanian news outlets “I sincerely hope that the sale of Unionfighters to the Alorian government and Dundorfian governments in the past was not the basis for this theft. The Alorian government needs to be held accountable and if the Dundorfian government is complicit, they should be held accountable as well.”

Chief Technical Officer Werner Osterhof of the ADG noted that the aircraft are not Unionfighters, merely poor copies that lack the technology to even compete with earlier versions of the Unionfighters but nevertheless are stolen designs. Osterhof cited demonstrations by the fighters as proof that they are knockoff copies. Representatives from the Dorvish Foreign Office state that they will notify the Dundorfian government and hope that they will recognize their error. The issue with Aloria will be handled by the Ministry of Justice as well as a team of Artanian patent and copyright lawyers.

Continued copyright row between Dorvish and Alorian governments
February 4986

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Dorvish Trade Commissioner Dr. Katharina Sauerbrunn, who will be departing the administration come the October, 4988 elections, confirmed that the Dorvish government was continuing forward with lawsuits against the Alorian government due to a lackluster response from the Alorian government. Dr. Sauerbrunn cited a press release from the Alorian government in which the Alorian government announced 3 new publicly owned companies that somehow were a "response" to the presence of Dorvish lawsuits against Aloria. Dr. Sauerbrunn cited one thing of note, the presence of a corporation known as "Dorvik IANS Pig's Defence - DiPS" which according to the Dorvish Trade Commission does not exist. The Dorvish government continued to cite serious copyright infringement and theft of state secrets, a new addition to their lawsuit alongside Artanian Defense Groups' own lawsuits against the Alorian government and state-owned corporations. The Ministry of Trade and Industry noted that trade with Aloria has been on a downward trend in the past several months as Dorvish corporations and businesses are less likely to do business in the nation for fear that the Alorian state-owned corporations will continue to show wanton disrespect and ignorance of international copyright laws and agreements.
