Dorvish government announces capture of Kalopian "Tyrant" Malgus III Thaller
Late April 4264

Haldor, Kordusia - The Dorvish News Service broke regularly scheduled programming on Friday, April 27th, 4264 to announce breaking news. Underneath the combined watch and guard of the Armed Forces of Dorvik, the Dorvish Police and the State Security Service, the former "Tyrant" of Kalopia Malgus III Thaller was seen being walked into the Dorvish State Constitutional Court building located in central Haldor. This is the first time that the former dictator of Kalopia has been since his disappearance in early April. Unknown what transpired or what happened, information has been scarce and the Dorvish government has refused to return any comments. The Dorvish State Chancellor and Deputy State Chancellor were joined by a wide array of Dorvish officials announcing the capture of the former Kalopian dictator.

The Foreign Minister of Dorvik, widely seen as the man of the hour, Wilhelm Maria von Bahr announced to the world "The people of Kalopia can finally sleep easier knowing that their former dictator is now going to face justice. We cannot provide extensive details regarding classified operations of the Dorvish Armed Forces but we can state that the Dorvish Armed Forces worked closely with partners in Kalopia to ensure the capture of brutal dictator. More information will be forthcoming."

Dorvik seeks closer ties with Artanian Union-allies
May, 4265

Schruedhofen, Kordusia - Deputy State Chancellor Joachim Regismund von Rohr-Mauss spoke today outside of the Artanian Union Headquarters in Schruedhofen at the start of renovations to the building about cooperation with Artanian Union allies. News from the Artanian Union's Supreme Artanian Council reveals that there is interest that members of the Court of the Artanian Union try the former dictator of Kalopia, it is unlikely that the Dorvish will hand-off such a political tool to the Artanian Union in its weakened state, but will likely take input from fellow Artanian Union members when it comes to sentencing. The Deputy State Chancellor spoke about getting the institutions of the Artanian Union up and running again, notably the Artanian Central Bank and the Artanian Infrastructure Investment Bank which are token instruments of the Artanian Union's power.

Dorvish Inspector-General stepping down
January, 4265

Hador, Kordusia - Inspector-General of the Armed Forces of Dorvik and Chief of Staff of the Supreme General Staff Generaloberst Friedrich Augustus von Rohr-Mauss announced today to a crowd gathered at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Haldor that he was officially retiring from active duty. The Minister of Defense Hugo Wilhelm von Salzer-Neuhäusser accepted the aging Inspector-General's retirement, it was announced that Inspector of the Dorvish Navy Generaladmiral Hans-Georg von Schleskau would be succeeding the outgoing Inspector-General as the new Inspector-General. The presence of an Inspector of the Dorvish Navy as Inspector-General, which is nominally dominated by Dorvish Army officers, is a welcomed change and the innovations and changes that Inspector von Schleskau has brought to the Dorvish Navy are widely hailed as moves to secure Dorvik's future at sea.

The new Inspector-General stated that he would work diligently with the Ministry of Defense and the Government of Dorvik to ensure that the Dorvish people never had to worry about "...enemies reaching their shores." and that the focus on "...the new types of warfare would be forefront..." underneath his administration of the Dorvish Armed Forces. The outgoing Inspector-General welcomed the change and stated that his role was to foster the Dorvish Armed Forces into the 43rd Century and that he felt he had done it. The change comes at a time of crisis in the world but what is openly known is that when the Dorvish military changes hands, it is a smooth transition with the incoming Inspector-General discussing and meeting regularly with commanding officers and visiting bases throughout Dorvik and overseas.

The new Inspector-General stated that the priority was "...combating international terrorism, building regional and international peacekeeping forces and battling radical militant republicanism and cruel, militant socialism and communism."

Dorvish FM responds to "Deltarian condemnation"
March, 4265

Haldor, Kordusia - The Dorvish Foreign Minister Wilhelm Maria von Bahr responded to the condemnation and demands of the Deltarian government today by releasing a statement saying: "We have heard the words of the Deltarian government, but they have fallen on deaf ears. Dorvik will not release such a terror to human rights. That is the end of that conversation. Perhaps, what the Thaller family should do, is look internally and see why a man so heavily protected...suddenly went missing?" The Dorvish FM possibly hinted at collusion with members of the Thaller family in several interviews where he was asked how Dorvish intelligence came into the information, but denied rumors that it was true. The FM stated that "...Dorvish intelligence had developed leaps and bounds over the past several decades. Admittedly our intelligence organizations suffered, but thankfully we have grown up a lot and have discovered that intelligence is the best way to prevent loss of life."

The Dorvish government also released a statement verifying that it had worked out an agreement with the Kalopian government to ease sanctions and eventually lift them, they noted that the current sitting government "...besides the Archon." had also approved and agreed to the operation to capture former dictator Malgus III.

Dorvish Pragmatic Tradition Re-Emerges, Led By Katarina Lehmann's Great-Granddaughter

Image
Above: Sara Yves, leader of the new party.

Once again, Dorvik has a party representing its long pragmatic tradition. 80 years old, give or take a few years, this line of parties is finally back after a nine year absence from the Dorvish political scene. With early election motions already being tabled, the 'New Pragmatic Movement' hopes to regain the great standing of the former parties - though in an environment where it must compete with the Conservatives, who will likely be the party of choice for conservatives who voted Pragmatic 9 years ago.

Regardless, the NPB (or NPM in Luthorian) is confident of becoming a political player again. With plans for economic, social and administrative reform - the new party has grand ambitions to change Dorvik. The party supports a constitutional overhaul, with a new system replacing the old. The NPB will table a motion to create the 'United Federation of Dorvik', support leaving the AU again, favour a restyling of the relationship between the state government and the states themselves amongst other major projects - if it gains power.

NPB Cruise To 231 Seats; Sara Yves Elected President

Image
Above: Sara Yves, youngest president in centuries and first foreign-born president.

The November 4274 elections have brought massive success for the New Pragmatic Movement, with nearly 40% of the votes and 23 million votes overall. In their historic southern heartlands and the island of Westmark, the NPB won the plurality of both seats and votes. The party also won millions of votes and dozens of seats in the other two states and had a record performance in the capital. Meanwhile, Sara Yves was elected - though narrowly - as the President of Dorvik. A strange tale of indie and electronic singer to leader of the free world.

The NPB has put forward an ambitious 'grand coalition' encompassing all three major parties in a psuedo-proportional cabinet representation system. The proposed Chancellor is Adam Wahler, who will become the first male 'Pragmatic-with-a-big-P' chancellor. The proposed Foreign Affairs Minister, Diana Sprecher, is planning to use her position to move out of the AU and reassert Dorvik on the security council. he proposed Internal Affairs Minister, Catharina Richter, will soon be working with proposed colleagues on constitutional reform.

New Pragmatic Movement Starts Introducing Reform

Image
Above: NPM co-leader Adam Wahler attending a meeting with his party on future constitutional reforms.

After a major election victory and the recent passing of the grand-coalition cabinet proposal, the NPB or NPM has started to push forward its agenda. Early in this new legislature's session, the first major legislation - a bill to reform the power of unions and to get rid of salary caps - was agreed to by all coalition members with NPB and Progress representatives already having cast their ballots unanimously for the motion. The President, Sara Yves, called it a 'promising start to the grand coalition, and a sign that reform is incoming'.

Later that week, another major bill was introduced to ratify a new treaty with Valruzia. The treaty normalizes relations with the nation again, after previous diplomatic strain a decade previous. This too has the support of all coalition members and despite potentially being more controversial has in fact gained wide-spread public support. Approval ratings stand at over 90% for the grand coalition, and the President is approved by 70% of the public. This suggests a promising four years for the coalition, which is the most secure in decades.

Next Stage of NPB Reforms

Image
Above: Diana Sprecher with a NPB foreign ministry colleague in Valruzia.

In another good month for the NPB-led grand-coalition, the Foreign Minister Diana Sprecher has finalized a deal with the Valrusia to re-normalize relations after previous isolation. This bill also helps businesses in both countries, while making Dorvik a bigger player on the world stage. Meanwhile, a budget which redistributed the surplus and the waste in the military on education, health care and social services. This is a widely popular move, and will be seen as another promise kept by the NPB.

Meanwhile, however, there is yet to be any constitutional reform put on the table. This was the main promise of the NPB in the last election, and people are getting annoyed it has not been followed through with. To satisfy this, the government is producing an AU withdrawal bill to make Dorvik 'a sovereign nation once again'. This will almost certainly pass as the Assembly has a 2/3rds anti-AU majority. How the conservatives now respond, as a pro-AU party, will certainly make or break the last years of this grand coalition.

Scandal Caused By Dorvish Ambassador

Image
Above: Dorvish Foreign Minister, Diana Sprecher.

The Dorvish ambassador to the security council today caused uproar after branding Jelbics 'parasitic' and saying they are not 'true Majatrans'. Widespread international condemnation followed, but the Foreign Minister - Diana Sprecher - stood by these words and said that Jelbics 'have an unfortunate group mentality of barbarism, isolationism and criminality' before adding that they 'are responsible for most of the violent crime, robberies, swindling and sex trafficking in Majatra'. This will present the NPB with a major issue in the upcoming elections.

Anti-Jelbicism is currently on the up-shoot, with large communities in Majatra - most notably the Deltarians - turning against the ethnic group. One NPB representative, who was born in Selucia, called them 'stateless frauds and vagabonds, who are constantly raping and stealing'. Despite a minuscule Jelbic population in Dorvik, the country is already experiencing giant waves of anti-Jelbic sentiments. This kind of sentiment has culminated on the verge of genocide in Deltaria, which the NPB government refuses to put sanctions on.

As AP wins the election Krafts starts looking for potential coalition members
Image
Johann Krafts, the AP Leader

Shortly after it's refounding, re-branding and an upset victory, the social-democratic Arbeitspartei (Labour Party) announced it's ambition to form the next Dorvish government.
In the recent election the AP has achieved a stunning victory gaining 268 seats and 44,24% of the vote leaving them 32 seats short of majority. The second biggest and currently governing party is the centre-right NPB.
It's also important to note that most - if not all - parties consider themselves center-right to right or even far-right. This makes the Labour's situation difficult.
In a post-election press conference Johann Krafts stated:

We are considering a lot of options when it comes to a strong, governing coalition that will lead Dorvik towards a better, more equal future.

What will come out of it remains to be seen.
