Northern Council Economic Forum - Haldor, 4437August, 4437Haldor, Kordusia - Dorvik was keen to host the Northern Council Economic Forum which would bring dozens of leading officials from Northern Council member states from around the globe, which the Northern Council had expanded its reaches; there was almost no continent that did not have influence from the Northern Council. The Northern Council was an economic powerhouse, it contained some of the worlds largest and most diverse economies. Haldor was a fitting site for the economic forum which is held every other year, previously it had been held in Skalm in 4435. The Northern Council Economic Forum (NCEF) is a series of meeting held by the Economic Council of the Northern Council Treaty Organization (NOCTO) and is meant to foster cooperation between member states in a wide variety of economic fields. The Haldor 4437 NCEF was presided over by President of the Dorvish Republic Joachim Gideon von Rohr-Mauss and saw some titans of business, industry and other fields of business. Faces such as Minister of Finance Wilhelm von Meyer, Minister of Defense and Inspector-General Florian Maria zu Völksau-Heusmann was there with a heavy defense network of the Dorvish defense industry, Foreign Affairs Minister Dietmar von Lÿndow-Sennhein, Trade and Industry Minister Magnarius von Desidier, noted tech specialist and enthusiast Science and Technology Minister Kevin Brandstätter along with dozens of others.
Topics discussed included globalization, the internet and it's impact on business, stock exchanges and the viability of the International Exchange Commission as a regulatory and advisement institution, a series of proposals for better relationships of Northern Council economies with each other and dozens of other topics. The Northern Council discussed issuing it's own cryptocurrency and the foundation was laid for a psuedo-reserve currency that was based as a cryptocurrency to rival the LOD. The discussion also took place about a "paper" reserve currency. A major discussion was that Northern Council members should join the
International Development and Stability Bank which might become a requirement for membership over the next several year, governments were encouraged to join prior to the mandate that was weighed and still has to be decided.
The NCEF is usually where governments of Northern Council member states meet and discuss trade deals and work out details to increase trade with each other. Dorvik was no stranger to this, the
Foreign Economic Council had dozens of officials there and it was announced that during the conference that the FEC has struck deals with Kalopia, noting that there was going to be a 250b LOD investment in Kalopia businesses, especially defense industry over the next 10 years, the
Artanian Defense Group which is largely owned by the Dorvish government now struck a deal with Canrillese Defense Industries (CDI) which provides defense equipment to Kanjor, Rildanor, Lourenne and Alduria primarily but several others. The deal was largely worked out between the Dorvish and Lourenne governments, the deal also included a 250b LOD investment into the Canrille Federation overall mostly aimed at Lourenne.
Dorvish State Railways and a cadre of Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport led by veteran construction overseer and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Reinhard Merk spoke at length with Keymon about their regards for updating and overhauling their domestic transportation industries, the project and investment is reported to be worth nearly 7b LOD for a series of railways and highway projects through Keymon. The Dorvish offered to several nations defense and maritime related services, to which it looks like the Dorvish will benefit greatly from. It goes without saying that the meeting between Skalm, Benekial and Haldor was the centerpiece of the meting for the Dorvish government, to meet with close allies warmed the Dorvish governments heart and wallet. Deals related to trade and economic cooperation would be seen as a great victory for President von Rohr-Mauss who was looking for investment into his own economy as well as looking to give growing small, medium and even corporate businesses a place to expand.
Overall the Northern Council Economic Forum was off to a booming start, it was a development for all members of the Northern Council; big or small.
