Dorvische Allgemeine ZeitungIs Wegscheider eyeing a retirement?December 5195Haldor, Greater Kordusia - State Chancellor Maximilian Wegscheider has not announced his intentions to stand for leadership of the NVP yet. Wegscheider has been the leader of the NVP and by virtue State Chancellor since October 5167 and has allegedly looked towards retirement. The now 67 year old State Chancellor will see an election in two years and already some within the NVP have decided to start attempting to anoint the next leader of the NVP and the Kingdom of Dorvik. Initially when the NVP was founded there was few, if any "wings" or "factions" within the party but that has since changed. Members from the Free Conservatives and Hosian Democrats have become strange bedfellows, but make up a prominent component of the current membership of the NVP in the State Council, the other faction the Dorvish Worker's faction is slightly more right-wing and has been able to hold onto a fair share of their influence in the party. Several smaller factions have been formed, including an Octobrist group that have once again shown to be prominent when garnering support with the Dorvish people and have recently elected several deputies to the State Council in the October 5191 election.
When it comes down to leadership and who might compete for power, you have prominent State Council Deputy Leon Clasen who is the "leader" of the Free Conservative faction and has been a fresh young face for the party since his election to his Greater Kordusia-based seat in the October 5191 election. The Free Conservatives tend to be more free market, socially liberal compared to typical "Dorvish capitalism" that has been the mainstay of the NVP as a whole for several decades. The more recent formation, the Hosian Democrats, are lead by prominent State Council Deputy Katja Steinheil who is the Chairwoman of the Committee on Culture and Language. The Hosian Democrats stormed into the political scene in Dorvik with nearly 75 deputies being elected after their formation internally within the NVP. The Independent Confessional Church in Dorvik has experienced a massive revival in the past several decades notably as the divide between its Independent Confessional and Ameliorate leadership has become increasingly divided again.
The Octobrist, a relatively background faction which has supported candidates in multiple internal factions has no clear leader but in the event that they intend to compete for leadership they will surely select one among them that is already considered to be a leader of the faction. The more right-wing Dorvish Workers' faction has been supportive of
Reichsleiter for Dorvik (VDKV) and State Council Deputy Leopold Gerstacker who was elected in October 5191 after competing for a seat in Miktar, his home province. Several other minor factions have been supportive of the generally "larger" internal factions within the NVP and it is likely that it will come down to a competition between the three major "factions": the Free Conservatives, the Hosian Democrats and the Dorvish Workers'.
