Kundrati - Representatives from the Artanian Defense Group arrived in the Kundrati capital to discuss the recent announcement that the Kundrati Navy was seeking a new, multi-role vessel meant to assist in the rebuilding of the Kundrati Navy. The ADG offered the International Multi-purpose Frigate (Dundorfian: Internationale Mehrzweckfregatte) in either Configuration A (OOC: French) or Configuration B (OOC: Italian) to the Kundrati Navy. The Dorvish Navy has shown interest in the domestically produced version of the frigate, known as the Reich-class, but has so far not attempted to purchase the vessel due to other projects. Mathijn de Graaff, the head of the corporate delegation to Kundrati, has stated that the IMPF is a state of the art frigate designed for multiple roles in the sphere of national defense and it forms the basis for any naval force which seeks to rebuild itself into a combat-capable, defense-worthy force. Gath Defense Collective has cited costs of roughly $653m LOD for Configuration A and $583m LOD for Configuration B in recent purchase deals for the IMPF. The Artanian Defense Group does not necessarily reveal public pricing but data is available. The Foreign Defense Office of the Supreme General Staff has maintained contacts with the Kundrati Ministry of Defense and has openly stated that they are open to supporting and networking with the Kundrati Armed Forces in the matters of procurement.

State Chancellor condemns Trigunian price gauging; Dorvish forced to scale back sales for a strategic reserve

State Chancellor Katja Steinheil condemned Trigunian's reduction of oil and natural gas supplies through state-owned Neftkomp. "The actions of Trigunia are reckless, while we understand the suspension of the Deltaria-Trigunia Friendship and Trade Agreement due to the questionable diplomatic row with Deltaria, the unilateral actions of Trigunia are unnecessary and unwarranted." Dorvik has done its best to increase its oil production but the State Chancellor admitted that it cannot take up the shortfall caused by the Trigunian slowdown. "We ask those countries who are in normal competition with Trigunia to step up and actively attempt to counter Trigunian price gauging." The State Chancellor continued on to discuss how the Dorvish would continue taking a portion of oil and natural gas produced and putting them into a strategic reserve to limit the impact on Dorvish domestic prices. "While I understand that the Dorvish have contributed to easing the price influx, we have to protect our domestic market and our continent. We'll continue to develop a strategic reserve for Dorvik and have started assigning some of that strategic reserve to be destined for Artanian nations." While Bier Qassem crude has risen to nearly $93 LOD per barrel, the Wasse Sweet Light is trading around $89 LOD per barrel, lower but not totally beneath both Bier Qassem crude and Yuralovo crude. The State Chancellor didn't confirm the amount of Dorvish oil or natural gas that would be scaled back, some speculate it could be as much as 25% or as little as 10%.

ADG agrees to sale of 2 IMPF's to Kundrati

Kundrati - The Dorvish government confirmed that they approved the Artanian Defense Group's sale of 2 International Multi-purpose Frigates (Configuration B; OOC: Italian) to Kundrati totaling $1.166b LOD to be paid over the course of 5 years ($233m LOD per year) or 10 years ($116m LOD per year) depending on the Kundrati government. The vessels will be laid down in Dorvik starting in March, 5206 and are expected to be completed by 5209 and then enter service somewhere around 5210 or 5211. Mathijn de Graaff, the head of ADG delegation that met with the Kundrati government, stated that the sale had gone smoothly and the Dorvish government presented no issues in the sale of the naval vessels. "As usual, it is great working with the regional partners in both Dorvik and Kundrati to better enhance the maritime security and national defense of both nations." Dorvish Minister of Defense and Inspector-General of the Armed Forces of Dorvik Generaloberst (Army) Leonhard Herwig stated that the Dorvish were hopeful for Kundrati to play a pivotal role in the new Lievenian Sea Organization which focuses on enhancing trade and maritime security in the Lievenian Sea. "Dorvik has already deployed its forces as a component of the maritime security mission of the LSO and we look forward in a few short years to the Kundrati military playing a similar role."

State Chancellor in Largonia to re-open Tangerbrück National Golf Course

Tangerbrück, Largonia - State Chancellor Katja Steinheil was in southern Largonia earlier today to commemorate the re-opening of the first national golf course, known as Tangerbrück. The golf course, now operated by the Largonian Provincial Government and overseen by the Largonian Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport was initially opened in the early 20th century by avid Dundorfian golfers Friedrich Thomalla and Arno Wolfsohn who were competitive, world known players and are generally considered to be the "Fathers of Dundorfian Golf". The State Chancellor, herself an avid golfer, was honored when questioned about re-opening the golf course after a three year renovation where the golf course was expanded including a new irrigation system which was aimed at conserving water. Tangerbrück is located within the Wolfsfeld and is a well known tourist destination for Largonia and has been the home to many golf championships over the years. The State Chancellor spoke before challenging top Dorvish golfer Valentin Kleinheisterkamp, winner of the recent Artanian Tour and, much to the State Chancellor's dismay, was bested by the professional golfer who promised that he would challenge the State Chancellor again and invited her to compete in the celebrity component of the Artanian Tour to which the State Chancellor quipped that she'd chose a "better partner".

The State Chancellor was questioned about recent foreign developments, notably the Deltarian rapprochement with Trigunia which she welcomed. "It's good to see that cooler heads prevailed. Its appalling that the National Conscious party member went so far to cause a massive crisis but they seem to be rectifying the situation. President Vlasov's announcement that Neftkomp will be re-upping production is welcomed news. I've been keeping a close eye on Bier Qassem crude and hoping that it will go down in price. I've contacted President Vlasov and let him know that the Kingdom is appreciative of his efforts to prevent a disaster in energy." The State Chancellor was questioned about dozens of other foreign policy questions, the most notable being the recent announcement that Luthori would be purchasing Istalian equipment, including some local production of Istalian military equipment in Luthori. "It's insane to me that Luthori, a nation that historical has had a very strong defense industry, would be relying on Istalia for its nation defense. Don't get me wrong, Istalian defense companies are terrific but for a nation such as Luthori to have fallen so far to rely on not only another nation but a non-Artanian nation to bolster their defense? It's just a statement that Luthori has truly fallen to the depths." The State Chancellor was of course referring to the once massive native defense industry that rivaled that of countries such as Dorvik, Trigunia, Narikaton and Darnussia, Yingdala and others.

The State Chancellor reiterated however that the day was focused on Tangerbrück and not foreign policy.

Dorvik to procure the Graf-class and Reich-class

Kingdom of Dorvik - Inspector-General of the Armed Forces and Chief of the Supreme General Staff Generaloberst (Army) Leonhard Herwig confirmed that the Dorvish Navy would be drydocking the Dorvish Navy's first class of nuclear submarines, the Trigunian-built Medved-class nuclear attack submarine and would be purchasing another 5 Graf-class ballistic missile submarine. The Graf-class, a nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine was a project jointly developed between Hutori and Dorvik for several years and finally constructed only within the past decade or two. The submarines are expected to take several years and will bolster the nuclear-powered submarine fleet of the Dorvish Navy. In addition the Dorvish Navy will have several new Reich-class frigates added to the service over the course of the next several years. State Chancellor Katja Steinheil commented on the recent military buildup as "...pre-planned but in response to the recent development in world affairs..." The major crisis of the era have been largely focused on diplomatic efforts, something that the State Chancellor recognized but she stated she would be remiss if these "diplomatic efforts" did not have military force behind them to ensure that they worked. The Reich-class, the Dorvish-built domestic variant of the International Multi-purpose Frigate (IMPF), possesses unique attributes necessary for the Dorvish Navy and its operations. The Reich-class, of which the Dorvish Navy currently possesses none of, will take several years to adapt the IMPF to the Dorvish Navy's standards and introduce Dorvish technology into the vessel.

The State Chancellor also commented on recent news that anti-government forces in Dankuk have recently opened a request for weapons she stated that the Dorvish were open to the requests and should organizers in Dankuk wish to contact the Dorvish government, they could do so with requests and the Dorvish government would carefully consider them. "The situation in Dankuk continues to grow dangerous for the people involved there. The international sanctions continue to be effective in cutting off the government from the international world."

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - The October, 5209 Dorvish general elections saw a reinforcement of in the State Council for the Free Conservative and Hosian Democratic candidates in the NVP. The two factions, which emerged strong prior to State Chancellor Katja Steinheil’s Chancellery, have continued successfully as both the internal factions seek to keep their success up. Free Conservative leader Leon Classen was announced to continue to serve as the Vice State Chancellor and according to State Chancellor Steinheil will take a more “defined” leadership role within the administration over the next several years. Classen has been taking a leading role in the management of the economy and several of his picks for senior finance and trade positions have been heralded as large-scale successes for the Dorvish economy as a whole.

The Free Conservatives captured the leadership of Greater Kordusia, both the Oberpräsidency and the Minister-President posts; they repeated moderate success in Largonia where the national organization was the second largest party. While the Hosian Democrats captured Miktar and Dorvan, their regional party (Dundorfian: Laryern Hosian Demokratiche; LHD) won in Largonia and captured the leadership in the province. Westmark remained firmly in the hands of the Social Democratic Party of Westmark, a regional branch of the Social Democratic Party of Dorvik which remains active in local elections. Westmark has remained elusive for all factions of the NVP, the Dorvish Workers' faction has had moderate success there but remains largely in second or third place.

Steinheil has been the head of Dorvik for nearly 13 years and enjoys generally favorable views from across the Dorvish demographics. She is widely credited with the restoration of Dorvish influence abroad and has been seen as a positive economic factor. The State Chancellor has also prompted revisions to the Dorvish defense apparatus with her selection of a forward-thinking, younger officer for the role of Chief of the Supreme General Staff. Chief of the Supreme General Staff Colonel-General Leonhard Herwig has emphasized testing Dorvish military logistics, has devoted a significant portion of the defense budgets to cyberwarfare, cybersecurity and associated electronic warfare capabilities. Colonel-General Herwig has also been more stringent in the military procurement field and that has caused some considerable stress between the Dorvish government and the Dorvish defense industry as the Colonel-General has expanded programs for modernization, outright replacement and placed more stringent controls on purchasing and requirements.

The most notable boon has been Dorvish soldiers, sailors and airmen seconded to the Military Security Service in the field of electronic warfare. The development is not just in the military however, the State Chancellor ordered in October, 5208 the formation of a committee for cybersecurity underneath the State Security and Defense Council and the Committee on Cybersecurity (Dundorfian: Komitee für Cybersicherheits) was formed. The Committee on Cybersecurity brings together military and civilian personnel to advise the government, the State Security and Defense Council in addition to providing support to other private and public institutions in the field of cybersecurity. State Chancellor Steinheil has stated that “Cybersecurity is increasingly a field that the Dorvish find themselves spending time in. While it does have offensive measures the protective measures of it far surpass anything else. The Dorvish people can rest easy knowing that the Dorvish government and military are investing in the defense of their infrastructure, economic security and defense.”

Lievenian Sea - Commander of the Dorvish Navy forces attached to the Lievenian Sea Cooperation Organization, Konteradmiral Remus Heslenwang, announced that the Dorvish contingent of the LSCO had captured a vessel that was being utilized for piracy with assistance from the Hutorian and Davostag naval forces. "As a joint effort of the Lievenian Sea Cooperation Organization the Dorvish contingent was able to capture a vessel being utilized for what we suspect is piracy." Piracy has rarely been an issue in the areas around Artania but in recent decades there has been increased activity in the Mad Dog Ocean, notably from criminal groups operating out of Keymon and some off the island of Dovmark. "While piracy and those associated with piracy are rare, piracy in the modern day is not necessarily the same as it was back in the day. Three of the members we've arrested are associates of the "Brass Hand Association" and others are connected with organized crime throughout Artania." The Brass Hand Association (Dundorfian: Der Messinghandverband) commonly called "Der Messing" is a criminal organization that is suspected to have originated out of Rutania, notably Garraway and led by a low-key Caldorian nationalist, Mack McDonald. McDonald, who is the descendent of Ruben McDonald, who was a participant in many anti-Dundorfian and anti-government rallies in Garraway has earned his nickname due to his alleged habit of picking up his brass following his involvement in shootings. Der Messing brings together a number of criminal elements operating out of Rutania, southern Dorvik, Dundorf, Luthori and Hobrazia. Several members of Der Messing were arrested in Dorvik recently after the State Security Service had conducted a raid on the organization's efforts in Miktar while attempting to human traffic men and women from Luthori and Hobrazia into Dorvik.

Interior Ministry launches new centralized criminal database

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Interior Minister Generaloberst (Police) Ferdinand Wenz spoke a press conference today in which the Dorvish Police and the State Criminal Office announced a new joint database for tracking criminals, gangs and other law enforcement related activities. The Interior Minister, who is expected to retire within the next couple of years, has made the database his "crowning achievement". The database known as the Criminal Activities Central Database (Dundorfian: Zentrale Datenbank für kriminelle Aktivitäten; ZDKA) will allow officers from both the Dorvish Police, the State Criminal Office and others to access a central database from across several agencies to review the criminal activities from persons that are stopped or arrested. The Dorvish Police previously maintained their own database and so did the State Criminal Office but the decision was reached to merge the two databases after years of conflicts between the two IT departments and the desire to maintain operational security. The Interior Ministry will oversee the database instead of the individually agencies. Dorvish patrol officers will have access to the system on their agency issued smartphones which have been completely rolled out to them after years of delay following software issues.

Ebner Software AG, a subsidiary of Ebner AG and Trade Technologies AG (Dundorfian: Handelstechnologien AG) created the software following approval by the Interior Ministry several years ago. The two companies plan to market a modified version of the software for sale across the globe, several countries have expressed interest in purchasing something similar. Representatives from Ebner Software AG and Trade Technologies AG announced that the modified, Criminal Activities Management Database (Dundorfian: Datenbank zur Verwaltung krimineller Aktivitäten; DVKA) will be available for purchase sometime next year and countries will be able to modify the software to local needs and be provided support for by the corporations.

National People's Party rebrands as Hosian-Conservative Alliance; new era on the rise in Dorvik?

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Representatives from the National People's Party (Dundorfian: Nationale Volkspartei) met in Haldor earlier last month (September) to discuss the future of the NVP as a whole. When State Chancellor Steinheil won the leadership of the party nearly 21 years ago (October, 5197) the make up of the party was largely divided into several dozen minor factions. The battle for leadership came down to four primary factions: the Hosian Democrats led by Steinheil, the Free Conservatives led by now Vice State Chancellor Leon Clasen, the Octobrist who've continued to play a vital role in Dorvish politics and the Dorvish Workers' faction led by Leopold Gerstacker. Despite fierce opposition between the two, Steinheil and Clasen eventually came to terms and saw that their factions often agreed more than they disagreed and settled on an alliance. The decision on the State Chancellor would be made based on the October, 5197 elections and whichever faction won more seats in the State Council would become State Chancellor. Steinheil's Hosian Democrat faction won out, earning 75 seats in the State Council of election of October, 5191. The State Chancellor elected for her first term in October, 5185 in the relatively upstart Hosian Democrat (sometimes called Hosian Democratic) faction.

The October, 5197 elections saw the Hosian Democrats win approximately the same amount of seats, the Free Conservatives coming in second with 63 seats. This propelled Steinheil to the State Chancellery with the support of the Free Conservatives, the Octobrist and other minor factions of the party desiring for the "fresh start" that many suspected Steinheil would bring. The October, 5023 elections continued to upward trend for the Hosian Democrats and Free Conservatives, the Dorvish Workers' falling behind and the Octobrist continuing to spread its influence around. Following the party convention in September, 5218 the decision was reached to rebrand the National People's Party to the Hosian-Conservative Alliance (Dundorfian: Hosian-Konservative Allianz; HKA) with Katja standing for leadership for her "...remaining..." years in politics; something that many suspect are short and she will aim to retire prior to the October, 5221 election and pass the torch to new leadership of the new party. Rumors have been abound that several dozen prominent members of the State Council and outsiders have been interviewed and regular meetings have taken place with the King and Kaiser regarding a government transition.

Dorvish government to launch new NGO grants program.

Haldor, Greater Kordusia - Minister of Foreign Affairs Kaleb Eichhorn announced that the Kingdom of Dorvik would begin formally financing non-governmental organizations across the globe through a public funding program. The program, known as the Foreign Assistance Grant (Dundorfian: Zuschuss zur Auslandshilfe), will provide grants to NGOs around the globe for a variety of programs. Foreign Minister Eichhorn stated that the program was aimed at expanding access to programs and building up Dorvik's already vast international profile with assistance to NGOs, notably NGOs based out of Dorvik. The Dorvish have had programs like this in the past but many of them have fallen on deaf ears or not been properly managed; the recent uptick in Dorvish foreign activity has lead to a large number of NGOs to request that the program begin restarted. One instance is the Artanian-based NGO, the International Internet and Connectivity Council (Dundorfian: Internationaler Rat für Internet und Konnektivität; IRIK), which works across the globe to develop infrastructure and access to the internet and enhance connectivity throughout Terra. IRIK was recently in Bazgaristan where they launched a program that provided over 1,000 laptops and wifi systems in rural Bazgaristan. They were also instrumental in the development of a 4G program in southern Dovani where access to phone service in incredibly difficult.

The program has been met with some criticism as some state that the point of the program is to expand Dorvish "soft influence" in the globe. The critique of this has been Dorvik's public support of the Volksdundorfische Cultural Association, a massive organization that was founded in the wake of many Pan-Dundorfian movements in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The VDKV has offices and programs in nearly every Artanian country and several dozen overseas offices, notably in Ostland where many Ostlanders and Hulstrians are members of the organization. The VDKV has often been criticized as a tool for Dorvish influence but the vast majority of its leaders are from across the many Dundorfian or Hulstrian cultures across the globe. The program will launch January, 5227 and will have several million Lodamese dollars in grants available for NGOs in a number of categories.
