"Establishment of a Constitutional Monarchy Act" Looses Support

The "Establishment of a Constitutional Monarchy Act" which was originally drafted by the now non-supporting party, Volkspartei.
The act contains up to 4 articles which explain the duties of the monarch of Aloria and his titles, etc. With the marriage of His Imperial Highness, Prince Siegmund of Youk, 2nd Imperial Prince of Luthori, and Her Imperial Highness, Princess Anne of Aloria, Volkspartei responded by not support the bill. The party's representative Sébastien Fournier said;

...."Due to the current issues of the marriage between His Imperial Highness, Prince Siegmund of Youk, 2nd Imperial Prince of Luthori, and Her Imperial Highness, Princess Anne of Aloria, this bill has lost our support fully and solely.
Our party wishes no connection between Dorvik and Luthori, especially through royalty, as Luthori is a ruthless and terrible empire that has killed many people and disrespected countries, their language and culture.

We are considering of establishing a strictly Dorvish monarchy which would include no foreigners and a Dorvish royal family.
"...

The party refuses to enter ties with a country that has ties with the "ruthless and terrible empire" due to the situations and threats from the Beiteynu situation, as the previous acts of the Luthori Empire and their allies. The party is proposing the Family of Zämenhelt; which has been a royal family in Dorvik for hundreds of years.

CPU support holds up at election

Postby Aquinas » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:57 am

Despite entering an unusually competitive election fought between seven parties, Catholic Political Union supporters were jubilant last night as their party surged to first place, sweeping up more seats than any other party. In his first outing as CPU leader, Tomas Neumann took the most votes in the first round of the Presidential election, although he was pipped by his Communist rival in the second round.

Now that the polls have closed, a frantic round of cross-party talks is trying to determine the shape of the next government. "The last thing Dorvik needs is a lurch back into the authoritarian past," said Neumann. "The more moderate parties have a responsibility to unite in order to keep out the Communist-People's Party bloc, which has a record of deluging our country with bad laws and bad government decisions."

New Act to establish Monarchy, Parties Debate

The Volkspartei has submitted yet another act establishing a monarchy in Dorvik. This Act rather than supporting Aloria's Monarchy, establishes a fully Dorvish monarchy from the ancient Royal Houses of Paddok and Visink. The monarch to reign is currently the oldest in the house therefore the current pretender.

The Volkspartei Representative mentioned:
"..We are trying to bring traditions to Dorvik, involve the culture of the country to the country itself. A Monarchy gives us a fair and just system of government with a reigning Monarchy preserving ancient traditions of Dorvik dating to 500; and even further. A monarchy can also allow us to establish strong relations with other countries and possibly spread our monarchy to make it influential in Terra. This would put Dorvik in the center of attention to many countries, increase our economy, and change the nation internally itself.."

The current Act has the support of other parties and is predicted to pass if terms can be agreed upon.

Parties Debate

There are constant debates on coalitions in the government. The KPU has proposed a cabinet which would be composed of 4 parties to give them the majority over the Communist-People's Party alliance. The Communist-People's Party alliance in the mean time, enters negotiations with another party to join them in forming a new government; the Volkspartei Representative mentioned:
"..Although we are trying peaceful relations with the KPU we shall remain loyal to our fellow Communist Party. The People of Dorvik never have spoken against our alliance in the National Assembly giving us almost always the majority. Now that we have more parties to represent our people better we have scored phenomenally but missed the majority by a couple seats. Two parties almost accomplished something that 4 are needed to do so. We believe that a tri-coalition government with the NLU would suit the country well. A centrist party, a communist party and a democratic-liberal party even though varying in ideas, we can accomplish much.. defiantly much more than the previous governments could.."

Monarchy Plan abolished; NLU with a big choice ahead

With the second act being rejected by not having a supporting majority; the Monarchy Plan has been shelved by the Volkspartei in an announcement by their Representative:

"...With the current issues of establishing a monarchy that our other fellow parties have, we feel we cannot propose this bill to vote. With no support in our partners, and the NLU which has great influence on the way bills pass; we believe it would be unreasonable and a waste of time to continue debating, obviously with little support only from 3 parties which could not establish the 2/3 of the legislature needed.."

NLU With a big choice ahead

The National Liberty Union is yet to decide which coalition to accept; although the one proposed by the CPD has been rejected, even by the VP (Volkspartei). The VP commented by saying that they would like to have has many even seats as possible; for the benefit of all coalition members, but did not hide their intention to offer the majority of seats to the NLU to add a addition to their offer.
With 3 bills for a cabinet and only 2 that can pass, it is all down to the NLU's choice.

NLU picks KPU Coalition; Reforms Sent to Vote

The NLU has rejected the proposed coalition by the VP and the KPD. The NLU stated that they shall never enter a "coalition with Communist Parties". This enraged the VP leader and subsequently he called a press meeting. In this meeting he stated:

"..We are terribly disappointed at the NLU ignorance and disrespect for our party. Something like this cannot be happening and we are considering suing the NLU for slander upon our party. We are currently taking the correct measures to do so.."

The situation between parties has once again been lit and the VP is cutting all relations with the opposing parties.

"..If the governing coalition wishes to disrespect our party, it is they're doing. We have warned and we have said. I am deeply angered by what has been said of my party and its members as such falsehoods which destroy our parties visibilty. Although we agree with some aspects of Communism it does not mean we are a communist party. We are a centrist party believing in Communism and Socialism (National) but also believe in a Democratic system of government; and are conservative on the issues of Civil liberties. If the coalition wishes to have a Dorvish-Dorvish war, they shall have it..!"

The VP has turned on a offensive campaigning across all Dorvish states. The party has released a new slogan while campaigning.. "Dorvik is most important". The party has extremely frequent meetings with the public as well as is part of debates on television. With a recent poll; the party is currently in 2nd place behind the KPD making the current majority leader and the coalition fall on 3rd place and below.

With the campaging the party also began introducing many reforms such as Military reforms, Religious reforms and Welfare reforms.

New government assumes power in Dorvik

After months of post-election bargaining, a new government has taken shape in Dorvik, headed by Gerhard Koch of the Catholic Political Union. The Catholic Political Union, National Liberty Union, Enlightenment Party and Konservative Deutschen will all hold ministries in the new administration.

"This is about keeping Dorvik on track and keeping the extremists out of power," said Koch. "The future is too important for us to take any gambles."

Reforms Enter Reichstag
December 3071

Reforms Submitted

The Enlightenment Party has submitted over 10 reforms to the Reichstag for vote. No more than one or two are expecting to pass, many of them lacking the support of other parties having only the support of the EP.
Many of these include changing the laws that just recently have been changed, such as Child Benefit or Military/National Service. The coalition refused to accept almost all of them, and voted a nay.
The VP leader made a quick comment on these laws;

Image

"My party has block voted no on all but two of these reforms, and one of them will not pass either. Some of these I am stumped to see us debating on; we have just changed them in the Reichstag, with a majority vote."

Reforms Being Negotiated

Earlier this year, reforms have entered the debate phase in the then National Assembly, and current Reichstag. The Volkspartei has submitted to reforms which are expressed in detail below;

Bicameral Legislature Act;
The Volkspartei describes this as such:

Image

"We believe a Bicameral Legislature is a necessity to a just and Democratic system, and to ensure that Constitutional Changes are thought through and proper. Sometimes one legislature cannot judge this correctly and needs the assistance of another. Another reason for this is that one legislature cannot have supreme power. With Semi-Presidential system, with the President having no powers, there is no one to stop the wantings of the current, one legislature which might change our nation into a possible dictatorship, and other bad case scenarios. Therefore two legislatures offer larger protection against any of these possibilities, and take away the supreme power, breaking it in half. This, making our nation more democratic, and fair to its peoples."

Dorvish Flag Act;
The Volkspartei describes this as such:

Image

"Although we have a strong sense of conservatism, and conserving national traditions and things, we believe that the current flag of the People's Republic of Dorvik does not represent the nation. We have already submitted up to 4 proposals for a new national flag, changing its colors, and excluding the meaningless lion. We believe that our nation can design a better, and have a better flag fly atop its buildings."

Both of these bills are currently under strong debate, some having support already, and other parties not having yet decided. The Volkspartei says that these will not be put to vote not having the proper and needed amount of support.

Elections Held in Dorvik
May 3072

Elections have been held in the People's Republic of Dorvik, and the people have spoken. According to the final results, the current coalition has not lost enough seats to loose the majority, while the VP-KPD alliance has not lost enough seats to loose their strong position.

With the final results, it has become clear that in Largonia, the VP has lost seats to its counterpart, the KPD, giving the parties the same number of seats (224) if they were to block vote together. This result did not disappoint any of the leaders, as they still have a strong say so in the Reichstag. Keeping this is mind, the VP leader stand;

" Although we have not achieved the success we hoped for, we still kept out position. This position of ours makes us a dangerous threat to any laws passed by the coalition. The coalition being largely diverse with Liberals, Libertarians, and Conservatives they already had proven that they vote in a diverse way, this allowing the VP-KPD alliance to block any law which does not have the support of all the coalition members, which most of them never vote together and agree to everything "

Elections for President

The elections have been won by Tomas Nuemann, with only a .07% majority in the votes. The Presidential elections have caused a stir in the VP-KPD alliance as the VP never endorsed the KPD candidate which would win if he had the votes of the VP fully. The coalition currently has the President, and the Reichstag.

Elections Held in Dorvik
May 3075

Elections have been held in the People's Republic of Dorvik, and the final results have just been published. None of the positions of both apposing alliances have lost their strong positions, with the current government still with the majority to remain in power.
The elections turned out to be the most succesful for the Volkspartei members. The elections were won by Amsel Bürgur of the Volkspartei; with a around 3.41% over the KPD candidate. Not only having won the elections for President, the VP gained 18 seats in the Reichstag; the only party to gain seats besides Aufklärung Partei. Although not being the only to gain seats, the VP gained +3.60% seat share in the Reichstag.

Although the VP-KPD alliance has gained seats, not enough seats have been gained to pass a coalition government.
