Aloria Fast Becoming A Rogue Nation Says President of Supreme Workers' Council

President of the Supreme Workers' Council Sufyan Saïss responded forcefully to the recent trade embargo imposed by Gweriniaeth Aloria. Speaking on Kafuristan's state owned broadcaster he stated,

Having failed to overturn our revolution by conventional means, they turn to economic aggression. They will fail again and in doing so shall reveal to the workers of Aloria their true nature. They would rather Alorian families be disconnected from their loved ones and suffer under high oil prices, than accept the working class as equal.
In addition to their attacks on the Workers' Republic, Aloria has made unacceptable threats to 'dismantle' Fortland. It is clear that the Gweriniaeth Aloria is fast becoming a rogue nation.

The Government of New Endralon / Kizenia / Kuzaki has similarly begun drafting legislation to prohibit the export of arms to Kafuristan, action described by Minister Pál Zsófia Berta to the World Congress as intended to 'to send a clear message to the nations that shed the blood of their own citizens.' On these developments President Saïss said,

The formation of our Workers' Republic is the greatest emancipation of the working class in Majatran history. Workers, families and our seniors now have access to free healthcare and education, and have greater democratic power than any nation on Terra. To equate the actions of counter-revolutionary terrorists with the defence of civilians carried out by the Workers' Revolutionary Army is as grossly offensive as it is inaccurate.

Food Substitutes Hit Shelves as Trade Embargo Begins to Bite
3rd April 4478

Shoppers in Kafuristan have had to deal with many changes over the past few years, from the disruption to harvests caused by collectivisation to the diversion of meat stock from supermarket shelves to the Workers' Revolutionary Army, but non more serious as the recent changes to some of the nation's favourite breakfast cereals.
The trade embargo imposed by Aloria has disrupted the supply of many branded cereals, causing the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to create substitute products.

Comrade Tiger replaces a more famous tiger still suffering from false consciousness

Many privately complain about the poor quality of these hastily produced alternatives, however Minister for Food and Agriculture Rajaei Samir told reporters,

In fact the food made by global bourgeois corporations was significantly inferior to these new workers' recipes, and whilst not containing all the same ingredients they contain gallons of revolutionary spirit and that is much more important for our youngsters. What child wants the transient joy of a free straw or sticker pack with their cereal when they can have the deep nourishment which comes from receiving a free copy of 'Notes from the 4472 Symposium- Dialectical Materialism in a Majatran context'? Available whilst stocks last.

DDR Collapse: Medicine Shortages as Imports from ex Communist Ally Fall

Image

The Pharmaceutical Federation of the Workers' Republic has suggested that Kafuristan is suffering from a stark shortage of medicine amid a collapse in imports following the fall of its communist ally, the DDR. The Workers' Republic had previously benefited from cheap imports from its communist partner and benefactor, however the end of this relationship has left the government struggling to meet the cost of medical supplies. The shortage has left many patients with little option but to resort to the black market with reports of unsafe and expired medicines being smuggled into the country from neighbouring states.

The crisis comes as Kafuristan continues to suffer from the economic embargoes imposed by Gweriniaeth Aloria and New Endralon/Kizenia.

President of the Supreme Workers' Council Pays Tribute to DDR

Speaking on the collapse of the Dundorfische Demokratische Republik, Terra's oldest continuous communist state, President of the Supreme Workers' Council said,
To speak of the DDR collapsing is as if to speak of the sun not shining. What was beacon for revolutionary socialists everywhere has been extinguished. We, the revolutionaries of today, must now carry on the message of peace, justice and equality.

Workers' Republic to Address World Congress over General Assembly President's Remarks

Debating Chamber of the World Congress General Assembly

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Workers' Republic ambassador will address directly Assembly President Ibrahim El Salefi's remarks to TerraGlobeNews when the next session of the World Congress begins.

al-Kasraj see El Salefi comments about supporting a 'democratic faction' in Kafuristan as a capitalist attempt to undermine workers' rule and an attempt at regime change by covert means. The government were already unhappy about continued 'anti working class propaganda', as a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described it, emanating from New Endralon/Kizenia and plan to rebuke Foreign Minister Pál Zsófia Berta when the General Assembly opens once more.

Government unveils 'New Economic Adjustment' to ease troubles

The Supreme Workers' Council today unveiled measures to stabilise Kafuristan's economy and end the country's shortage of medicines and medical supplies. While the government continues to deny the existence of the of the crisis internationally, human rights groups have long reported on the sharp deterioration in the quality and safety of care in hospitals caused by the nation's economic troubles. The end of cheap imports and direct investment, brought about by the collapse of communist ally the DDR, came as a hammer blow to an economy already suffering under multiple economic embargoes and from low productivity.

The measures announced include:
• increased investment to expand the domestic capacity for producing medicines
• providing private companies with special authorisation to obtain foreign currency to purchase raw materials for the production of medicines abroad.
• legalisation of the use and transfer of foreign currency for remittance payments and purchase of goods.
• the conversion of 50% of state farms to private sector cooperative farms.
• the legalisation of farmers' markets, where select surplus produce can be sold at decontrolled prices.

It is hoped that these reforms will increase productivity at home and win friends abroad, precipitating an end to the embargoes imposed by Gweriniaeth Aloria and New Endralon / Kizenia / Kuzaki. Al-Kasraj sees the embargoes as a major disincentive to foreign direct investment, which is badly needed to replace investment lost from the DDR.

Whether the reforms prove to be a turning point or simply a temporary measure remain to be seen. Many in the regime are thought to be hoping a major increase in the money supply caused by remittance payments will result in an aggregate demand shock sufficient to get the economy back on track, allowing for a quick return to a more orthodox form of socialism.
