October, 4776

A Republican Guard commander arrives near the border to review recent increases in ethnic Majatran petitions for refugee status.

Kalopian-Kafuri border, Abi'nadi Governorate - Minister of the Interior Samir Sarkis announced that due to recent legislation in Kalopia, the border between Kalopia and Kafuristan in the Governorate of Abi'nadi has seen an increased number of ethnic Majatrans applying for asylum in Kafuristan. The situation has caused great concern for the Interior Ministry as it has dispatched large portions of the Central Security Directorate and the Public Security Directorate, the Ministry of Defense announced that it had provided direction for the Kafuri Border Forces in the region to increase their manning at the border. Prime Minister Baasim el-Salah condemned the actions of the Kalopian government for re-introducing segregation in education, allowed for racial discrimination against minorities in holding government posts and reminded the Kalopian government that there will be consequences for its actions, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Oil has confirmed that they have begun a "slow down" of oil shipments to the country in fear of a crisis growing in the nation. President al-Sadhi appeared at a session of the People's Council and discussed the importance of Majatran unity, notably in a time where Majatrans across the continent face issues. He cited the recent restoration of al-Sahil to its native culture after years of oppression and subjugation by Luthorian-speaking foreigners as the beginnings of a new future, he warned Wantuni, the Majatran name for Kalopia that it's actions could cause a regional crisis.

The Republic Guard Bureau of the Ba'athist Party confirmed that the Republican Guard had been dispatched to handle the crisis on the border and was "...watching closely..." according to Republican Guard Bureau officials. The Republican Guard has continued to play an increasingly important role in Kafuri national security since the return of the Ba'athist and have assisted in developing the Kafuri Strategic Forces as a "mini-Republican Guard" according to reports from within the military. A unnamed Republican Guard Bureau official noted that the Regional Command had recently authorized the creation of the National Security Bureau which will take over responsibility of coordinating the police, security and intelligence operations in Kafuristan, furthering its grip on Kafuri society. President al-Sadhi denies assassination of Coburan King
July, 4779

Image
President al-Sadhi greetings thousands of supporters outside of the Kafuri People's Council before addressing the latest claims by Western imperialist powers.

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi Governorate - Kafuri President Abyad bin Qadir al-Sadhi was joined by Director-General of the General Intelligence Directorate Najeeb el-Mahdavi, a close confident of the al-Sadhi clan, to unilaterally reject the efforts by a rogue Jelbic hit squad to paint the Kafuri's as murderers. President al-Sadhi addressing the People's Council announced that the Kafuri government had nothing to do with the assassination of Coburan King Psamtik-Iyasu. The President called the assassination a typical "horse lover assassination" and had all the hallmarks of Vanukuean and Jelbic assassinations. While the General Intelligence Directorate does maintain one of the most robust intelligence systems in Majatra, the GID confirmed that they had no involvement in the assassination and offered their technical assistance in tracking down the true organizers and killers behind the assassination. President al-Sadhi chided the "investigation" and stated that it was obvious that the Jelbics were seeking to undermine and once against blame Majatrans for "terrorist" actions, something that the People's Council clamored against when the President spoke. Kafuristan had become increasingly involved in regional affairs as of late, after years of backwards thinking and fundamentally silly practices such as the "Sultan of Kafuristan" some paid Vanukuean courtesan. Overall the Kafuri economy has built itself back up on its oil and gas industry, becoming a world leading supplier of oil and gas over the past several years since the return of the Ba'athist to mainstream politics.

Kafuri cooperation with Deltaria has increased but the Kafuri people remain skeptical of the Deltarian friendship, as it does not want to be seen that the Kafuri are somehow a "vassal" of Deltaria according to recent polling. President al-Sadhi maintains that his friendship and the nations friendship with the Deltarian people are one of mutual respect and that they both seek peace, prosperity and harmony for the continent. The President ordered the Republican Guard to increase security around the Deltarian embassy and diplomatic facilities in Kafuristan following threats of violence against them from foreign agent saboteurs and agitators, the Kafuri government announced a crackdown on these sorts of groups and the Republican Guard, GID and Republican Guard Security Directorate have conducted dozens of raids across the country to prevent such elements from gaining a foothold in the nation.

President al-Sadhi opens new hospitals; buys arms from Trigunia
November, 4780

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi Governorate - Kafuri Ministry of Defense officials confirmed earlier reports that Trigunia and Kafuristan have agreed to a significant arms deal. The multi-billion LOD deal would be a huge boon for the Kafuri Armed Forces and the Republican Guard forces of the Baathist. The deal includes a number of Su-34 bomber aircraft, a large number of state of the art transport and attack helicopters, thousands of small arms (including RPGs, rifles and pistols), a number of newer T-90 main battle tanks, BMP series of infantry fighting vehicles and dozens of armored personnel carriers and armored vehicles. The Kafuri Navy has also expressed interest in purchasing 1 to 2 Trigunian-built guided missile destroyers to compliment the current Kafuri Navy, considered to be one of the more capable naval forces in the region.

The addition of Trigunia equipment and recent rise of a new government in Rodshydam has prompted al-Kasraj to cozy up to the Trigunian Bear. While Kafuristan maintains good relations with its neighbors, Kafuristan is well known for its contacts outside of Majatra. Kafuristan has, in recent months, been the epicenter of a new "Oil War" as it has increased its oil production to nearly 12 million barrels of oil per year, a figure that the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Oil is proud to boast about. Kafuristan was quick to recapture and solidfy control over the oil fields across Kafuristan, notably the more secluded ones in Pabeus, at the heart of Kafuristan. The MTIO has expanded its drilling and exploration operations and is expected to announce the development of 2 new facilities to further cement the Kafuri dominance over oil and gas exports.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services confirmed that thanks to the efforts of President al-Sadhi, the 5 Governorate Health Centers, large hospitals, are now up and functioning. The President also attended the graduation ceremony of the Prince Ibrahim Medical College, one of the most prestigious institutions in Kafuristan and one of the best medical schools in Majatra according to the Kafuri Majatran Press. The GHCs, as they are commonly called, will be the first in a series of health care reforms that the Ba'athist plan to carry out, the most central tenant to their electoral platform was the implementation of universal health care for all Kafuri citizens. The subsidiary projects are likely to take another 5 to 10 years to begin creating smaller hospitals and clinics across Kafuristan. The project is being funded by the Health and Social Services budget and elements of the Strategic Reserve Fund of the Central Bank.

The leadership of the Prince Ibrahim Medical College are also seeking to establish another medical college somewhere in Northern Kafuristan as its location in al-Kasraj is its only location. It is suspected that another will open in Nekkah within the coming years.

Kafuristan's government faces oil price crisis
November, 4782

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi - Growing fears of an oil and gas price crash have prompted the Kafuri government to slow down production, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Oil the Kafuri government reduced production by 1 million barrels of oil per year in 4781 and will reduce it further by another million barrels of oil for 4782, the plan in 4783 is to reduce another million barrels of oil in the event that the economic situation across Majatra does not improve. Badara, a fellow oil producer and a member of the Majatran Economic Association also faces fears about the downturn in oil prices and the reduction in profits from the oil and gas industry. Officials in Kafuristan in recent years have looked to diversify Kafuristan's economy, this has been met with a mixture of concern and confusion as the Kafuri's for centuries have based their economic success off oil and gas production, sales and other petrochemical related ventures. The growth of a small, local arms industry via the Majatran Organization for Industrialization provides a component but does not make up for the overall lack of other economic avenues. According to the Ministry of Finance nearly 45% of all of Kafuristans workers are involved in some form of oil and gas-related business and are employed largely by either domestic or foreign oil and gas corporations that oversee the various oil fields throughout Kafuristan. President al-Sadhi noted that the Kafuri economy had grown more diverse since the Ba'athist had taken over and implemented a mixed-market economy, one notable sector that has grown is textile production such as shirts, pants and even the rise of a somewhat moderate-sized sneaker industry but this makes up significantly less of the Kafuri economy compared to the Kafuri oil and gas market.

It is likely that the continental downturn will prompt the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Oil and the Ministry of Finance to reduce the so-called "Oil Benefit" that each Kafuri receives that is administered by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. While this will certainly not prompt happiness in the Kafuri people, it is unlikely to prompt any serious conflict from the reduction, or so the officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Services hope. The oil benefit was reintroduced by President al-Sadhi in 4776 and was welcomed by hundreds of thousands of Kafuris, believing that this new Ba'athist government will take them out of the ashes of what the President called "economic ruin", the reduction is certainly going to be unpopular and the government in al-Kasraj will have to respond to this when it comes to pass. As it stands the oil benefit is a monthly check or cash, depending on the area of Kafuristan, that amounts to roughly $500 LOD per month, or 5,000 KAF monthly which is nearly double the per capita income of the average Kafuri citizen.

BREAKING NEWS: BA'ATHIST SEIZE GOVERNMENT
April/May, 4880

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi Governorate - The sound of automatic rifle fire broke the silence over al-Kasraj as elements from the heavily armed Republican Guard of the Ba’athist Party. Equipped with automatic rifles, namely the AK-47 and its derivatives, Trigunian and Kafuri built IFVs as well as other piece of military equipment, the Republican Guard conducted a swift and brutal attack against the now former government forces in al-Kasraj. Underneath the direction of the new National Command Secretary-General Bassaam bin Kassem al-Sahdi, the scion of the al-Sadhi political family that has dominated the Ba’athist ideology for several centuries, issued orders to the Republican Guard to dislodge government forces from al-Kasraj. This comes as the al-Sadhi had proclaimed a new “Majatran Republic of Kafuristan” with himself as President, he has named Regional Secretary-General Aayid el-Raad as the Prime Minister. The incoming President has promised a crackdown on the violent and radical religious “state” that has been propped up in Pabaeus, the central desert region of Kafuristan that has struggled with its radicalism across the region.

The new leader of ASIK (Ahmadi State in Kafuristan) Zaki el-Abdallah has promised holy vengeance against the non-believers, namely the Ba’athist that now claim control over the capital and large swathes of cities in Kafuristan. Skirmishes between ASIK as well as their allies and off-shoots have occurred across numerous cities within Kafuristan, the most prominent being the events in Pabeus over the past several months. Several clashes between government, Ba’athist and ASIK forces have been captured on popular Majatran social media site, Tharthara, which means “Chatter” in Standard Majatran. Tharthara, often called “Thar” for short, has been awash with clashes between supporters of all groups. According to intelligence experts from Gath Defense Collective ASIK and its off shoots have been using Thar and other social media sites to facilitate radicalization of followers.

In his inaugural address, the new President promised to “liberate” Kafuristan from the “…hand of religious radicalism.” In accordance with several decrees, the President called for restoration of basic services, the formation of a brand new security force, re-establishment of the expansive Kafuri Armed Forces and the approach of regional and foreign allies to build a new Kafuristan. There has been several reports that the Republican Guard as well as loyal elements of the Kafuri Armed Forces have attempted to re-capture oil fields and oil production facilities.

Ba'athist secure Jablemmanet, ASIK leader calls for attacks on non-believers.
June 4880

Jerze'har - President al-Sadhi informed the KMNA that the Jablemmanet oil fields, the largest oil fields and production facilities of the nation, have been secured and have begun production of oil and numerous other upstream and downstream activities. Minister of Trade, Industry and Oil Abdul Haleem al-Sadhi spoke outside of the al-Kasraj based headquarters for Sharnaft. Abdul Haleem, the brother of the President, spoke outside the state oil corporations headquarters underneath heavy guard from the Ba'athist Republican Guard. Jablemmanet is located in the northern governorate of Jerze'har, generally considered to be one of the more heavily guarded regions of the nation due to the presence of Jablemmanet and other oil and gas production facilities. According to the Republican Guard Bureau of the Ba'athist Party, the Republican Guard has dispatched a large contingent of forces to secure Jablemannet and other notable oil fields. Reports have surfaced that ASIK and its off-shoots control large swathes of oil fields within the central governorate of Pabeus; the ASIK stronghold. The securing of the Jablemmanet oil fields and facilities is a large win for the Ba'athist and many political speculators have suggested that it could lead them down the path of "victory" in the seemingly tense conflict that is continuing to brew. State media reported a number of skirmishes and vehicle borne improvised explosive devices, largely suicide bombers striking government forces. ASIK leader, the newly proclaimed "Caliph" Zaki el-Abdallah, has called on followers from across the world to strike out against the non-believers, this has prompted concern in governments across the globe regarding the rise of radical Ahmadism.

Kafuri government officially recognizes new Talmorian provisional government
October 4880

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi Governorate - Outside of the Ministry of Foreign and Majatran Affairs, the Foreign Minister Rashaad el-Abdelnour announced the formal recognition of the Talmorian Provisional Authority by the Majatran Republic of Kafuristan. Rumors have surfaced of discussions by the Kafuri and Talmorian government, largely focusing on the congratulating of restoring some semblance of governance to Talmoria. The Foreign Minister confirmed that the governments have spoken but have not stated what they discussed. The Foreign Minister noted that the Kafuri government was actively seeking allies in rebuilding the foreign relations of Kafuristan and that it had in recent days accredited and appointed dozens of ambassadors and representatives. A joint meeting was held in which the Foreign and Majatran Ministry confirmed that a number of ports that are tied to the Majatran Economic Association have been secured by elements of the Republican Guard, the Interior Ministry and the Kafuri Armed Forces.

Officials from the General Intelligence Directorate, the feared domestic and foreign intelligence service of Kafuristan, confirmed the capture of several dozen ASIK and ASIM terrorist within these ports. One of them, Adrian Hoffman, a Hutori-born citizen who radicalized prompted the government of Kafuristan to notify the Hutorian government. Several other foreign nationals were arrested, including several Badarans, a Wantuni Majatran, a Trigunian and several from Dovani. GID officials have cited increased online radicalization and propaganda which has drawn regular, non-extremist Ahmadi's to further extremism and radicalization. According to Director-General of the GID, Abdul Rauf el-Sesay, there has been increased efforts to crackdown on foreign nationals arriving in Kafuristan to join terrorist training camps in Pabeus. The General-Director had an ominous warning for the world: "Radical Ahmadism is rising, I can tell you as someone who has spent his life fighting against it, no one is safe."
