al-Kasraj: The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced a new subsidy scheme that will see the Kafuri government pump billions in state subsidies towards food and other consumer goods in an effort to keep them affordable for the average Kafuri. The scheme was discussed within cabinet for several months as the cost of living is rising rapidly and the inflation rate is skyrocketing due to a ban by the Kafuri government on importing Majatran goods. The new subsidy scheme is expected to cost billions and be a drain on state finances, with debt to GDP already at 120% and rapidly rising as revenue from the oil and gas sector has also seen a sharp decline, thanks to the Kafuri ban on exporting to Majatra. Rumors have reached news outlets that the Kafuri and Beiteynese governments are in backroom talks to solve the crisis diplomatically but the President refused to comment, only noting that "our people have to remain steadfast and brave for the good of the country." President al-Saad signed off on the subsidy scheme for a full year, after which it will be evaluated and either extended or scrapped. The scheme is an effort to keep the population on the government's side and mitigate the effects of rising prices, allowing Kafuri citizens to continue lifes relatively normally. The price controls and subsidies will be enacted at the beginning of next month.

al-Kasraj: Horror! At the People's Square in al-Kasraj our beloved President, al-Saad, was shot by a suspected Ahmadi radical during a speech he gave to around 2000 supporters. The shooter, identified as 28 year old Shaqeeq el-Jabour, was shot in the leg and apprehended after the shooting. President al-Saad was rushed to the hospital where he is currently being operated according to government statements. He has suffered three gunshot wounds but it is unclear where exactly he was shot. Prime Minister Huraira al-Mostafa immediately took over the duties of the President the moment the president was put under anesthesia and, at the recommendation of the Ministry of the Interior, declared martial law in the country. This move is meant to allow the security apparatus much more power in cracking down dissent. Early reports suggest that the Dairat, National Police and the Special Service Unit have already arrested nearly 309 individuals suspected of being responsible or somehow involved in the shooting of president al-Saad. Ba'athist party officials were quick to get on national television and blame Beiteynu for the shooting, with some claiming that Beiteynu has funded Ahmadi radicalism that has allowed this event to unfold. Prime Minister al-Mostafa has not publicly commented and has been moved to the Presidential Palace in order to coordinate anti-terror efforts from there. The condition of President al-Saad is unclear, with insiders saying it remains unstable.

The Dairat has, by Prime Ministerial decree, been authorized to search homes without a warrant and deploy "any methods necessary" to find Ahmadi radicals. Independent media sources see it as a way to continue the so called "Red Purge" but under the guise that the actions are meant to crush Ahmadi radicalism. Ba'athist party chairman Aadil el-Shariff condemned this speculation, stating that "we would not shoot our own president to further a political agenda." On the question whether he believes Beiteynu is involved in the assasination attempt el-Shariff stated that "i let the intelligence services do their work and refuse to let speculation decide our next action."

al-Kasraj: In the Sea of Lost Souls last night yet another pirate boat has been reported to have shot at a Badaran oil freighter, wounding at least 2 Badaran sailors in the process. The incident is part of a rampant pirate problem in the Sea of Lost Souls that got worse following the Badaran condemnation of the Kafuri regime. At least 82 "pirate boats" have been sighted in the sea with 40+ incidents reported. At least 2 oil freighters were boarded by the pirates and 2 people have been killed in what is being dubbed the "Sea of Lost Pirates crisis". But fingers are being pointed at the Ba'athist regime, with many countries in Majatra believing it to be to big of a coincidence that just when Kafuristan got isolated even more, the attacks by pirates worsened. Prime minister and interim-president Huraira al-Mostafa has condemned the attacks, citing that his government is willing to work with its "regional partners" in trying to tackle the problem. But early independent reports have confirmed that most pirates are operating from the eastern Kafuri shores. When asked what the PM throught about that statistic he stated that "our government continues to be committed towards establishing full control over our territory but we have a difficult road ahead in trying to limit Ahmadi influence and control in our country."

The Prime Minister also hinted at the possibility of releasing the Beiteynese and vanukean hostages currently in state custody, but named "recognition of ba'athist rule" as the must condition to move towards release. Asked on the capture of two Dairat agents in Beiteynu the PM denied this to be the case, saying that "Dairat agents dont get captured."

al-Kasraj: President al-Saad has, earlier this morning, been pronounced dead by his doctor months after he was fatally shot on the People's Square by a Ahmadi radical. The president, until now General-secretary of the Ba'athist party, was shot three times and operated multiple times over the course of the last few months. Early this morning, he was pronounced dead following a heart attack likely caused as a complication of his gunshot wounds. Prime Minister al-Mostafa was rushed to the presidential palace just an hour after where he took the oath of office and was sworn in as the second President of the Majatran Republic. Immediately upon formally entering the office, Mostafa sacked the entire cabinet and announced a new Prime Minister, former royalist Haashid al-Alli, who will be tasked with presenting the President with a new cabinet. The move to appoint al-Alli is suprising, as it will likely lead to a somewhat moderate cabinet to take shape as al-Alli was until recently exiled by the Ba'athists. This move by al-Mostafa, who had been serving as the interim-president since al-Saad was shot, is seen as a way to moderate the Kafuri government and move towards a solution to the ongoing crisis. Rivals of al-Mostafa within the Republican Guard have started mounting some mild oppossition to his moves but the new President has significant support within the regular army, likely capable of keeping the discontent of the Republican Guard and Dairat in check. President al-Mostafa announced shortly after the news broke that a state funeral for al-Saad is to be held next month, celebrating the life of the first President of the Majatran Republic.

While moderation seems to be in sight for Kafuristan president al-Mostafa did order the public execution of the killer of President al-Saad, 29 year old Shaqeeq el-Jabour. El-jabour had until now been held in a state prison awaiting trial but by presidential decree has been sentenced to death by hanging. The execution of El-jabour will be televized and is set to be fullfilled in 2 days time.
