al-Kasraj: President al-Saad has, earlier this morning, been pronounced dead by his doctor months after he was fatally shot on the People's Square by a Ahmadi radical. The president, until now General-secretary of the Ba'athist party, was shot three times and operated multiple times over the course of the last few months. Early this morning, he was pronounced dead following a heart attack likely caused as a complication of his gunshot wounds. Prime Minister al-Mostafa was rushed to the presidential palace just an hour after where he took the oath of office and was sworn in as the second President of the Majatran Republic. Immediately upon formally entering the office, Mostafa sacked the entire cabinet and announced a new Prime Minister, former royalist Haashid al-Alli, who will be tasked with presenting the President with a new cabinet. The move to appoint al-Alli is suprising, as it will likely lead to a somewhat moderate cabinet to take shape as al-Alli was until recently exiled by the Ba'athists. This move by al-Mostafa, who had been serving as the interim-president since al-Saad was shot, is seen as a way to moderate the Kafuri government and move towards a solution to the ongoing crisis. Rivals of al-Mostafa within the Republican Guard have started mounting some mild oppossition to his moves but the new President has significant support within the regular army, likely capable of keeping the discontent of the Republican Guard and Dairat in check. President al-Mostafa announced shortly after the news broke that a state funeral for al-Saad is to be held next month, celebrating the life of the first President of the Majatran Republic.
While moderation seems to be in sight for Kafuristan president al-Mostafa did order the public execution of the killer of President al-Saad, 29 year old Shaqeeq el-Jabour. El-jabour had until now been held in a state prison awaiting trial but by presidential decree has been sentenced to death by hanging. The execution of El-jabour will be televized and is set to be fullfilled in 2 days time.
