Why the Press is Power
December 3114

An Article by Nabir Mas'riah

Some years ago, I founded a party. It was all about change, because me and the people I was associated with, within the ranks of the political organization of course, were tired of the current regime and believed in the meaning of change. Just change; and we strongly believed that whatever change offered us afterwards, it would be good. The party had no basic ideology, but we slowly gathered supporters who also believed in change, because through it, they envisioned that their dreams and personal views would come to reality. And the party saw it was all good.

During the second stage, we openly confronted with the government and the regime. We exposed our views and advocated them in our own limited ways. But verbal conflict was inevitable. Nevertheless, through that part of discussions and open confrontations, the people glorified our belief in change and our numbers increased. We even got seats in the next elections. And it all continued to be good. It got better over the next few months, as we planned demonstrations which led to violence, as we crashed press conferences and as we slowly marched to the streets. Through our people's support, we took control of military bases, bribed in secret ways military officials and soon enough, the better became the best when we declared ourselves the saviors of the nation and were applauded by our supporters for our plans to take control of the nation. We finally took control, by any means necessary, and it was time to build a new regime over the ashes of the new one and while the fires burnt over the ongoing civil war we made change.

Unemployment was eradicated. Trade flourished. Education thrived, water and food was available to all, and even the industry leveled up within a year and we began producing military equipment to retaliate on any attempts from the supporters of the old regime. Housing was available to everyone and a state of socially based economy and domestic trade developed, making the nation an idealizing place to live. There was justice, with all the necessary curfews and the means to maintain it. All was good.

I don't know about you, but I'm still a reporter in the RKP. But imagine that everything I said was true. I would certainly have the power to say them, who would dare to argue. Who would be able to discover any truth inside my own little world. The background does not matter, nor the truth. All it matters is that I have power over the power of the press, and that is just a miracle by itself.

Naval Blockade of Saridani coasts
December 3114

The calendar shows 23 December, 3114. The revolutionary state of Saridan remains a part of the current news of international affairs. As of far, the Kafuri Command in Surtilati has yet to produce successful counter measures to prevent mainland Saridan and the rebel forces from producing more military equipment and preparing for their next military move. Intelligence reports that assembly of more aircrafts, as well as artillery has began throughout the nation, under the strict supervision and guard of the Nameless Party. Despite all of these facts, organization of the new regime has been radically developing throughout the past year, and the rebel army has gained much more power both in numbers and structure. Some military scout trips to the mainland have revealed staggering rebuild of defense lines throughout the mainland, concerning both land to sea and land to air defensive equipment. Some air raids were also successfully conducted, destroying key sectors of the Nameless Party's control bases. Few civilians have been saved however from captivity, and many more members of the opposition of the Nameless Party are missing, presumably dead or held in best case scenarios, in high security facilities.

"We have allowed a considerable amount of time for the citizens of Saridan, both the rebels and the simple people, to recover from the devastating state of the civil war during 3112 and the earlier months of 3113", was the comment of Mr. Maximilian III, "because in this war, there were not only military personnel involved, but also unarmed, innocent people who lost many families and needed time for closure. During this time of temporary peace, the Kafuri government has contemplated on the situation and will now proceed according to the newly drafted military and general restructuring plan."

Map of Saridan

With an executive and military order from Kafuristan, the Kafuri Command has commenced a naval blockade of the coastal lines of the Saridani mainland. So far, 2 naval battles have occurred, with immense casualties for the Armed Land of Saridan and 4 vessels of the Kafuri Navy destroyed and now lying at the bottom of the sea. Sadly, no documentation of these events is available for the press. The northern port of Saridan, Mullenska, has been completely cut off from sea, while 2 more naval vessels of the rebel group have been captured. The sea area until just outside the port city of Asadma has been scanned and the navy is currently proceeding towards the city to blockade it as well. The port of Golemia appears to have an increased naval presence so the Kafuri Navy has yet to approach the city. The port cities of Cosworth and McConnell to the south have been blockaded as well, however not without a damaged Kafuri vessel and 2 military men dead, the results of a half hour retaliation attack from the coastal defense lines of Cosworth. With military air support however, those lines were destroyed. It seems no air battle took place as it appears that the rebels in Saridan continue to withhold information about the numbers of aircraft they have. The Kafuri Military command in Surtilati refused to comment about this issue. For the time being, the Kafuri Navy has no control in the region of Aldumor.

Already there has been reported a 2% decrease in Saridani trade, both exports and imports included, and as far as petroleum distribution is concerned from Kafuristan, the Saridani mainland has suffered a 10.5% decrease in importation, leading to many power and transportation problems within the nation, including a sharp rise in oil prices which will ultimately cause military problems to the Armed Land of Saridan. There surely cannot be any serious estimation of the effect the naval blockade will have on mainland Saridan until the region of Aldumor is successfully cut from sea as well and a few months have passed.

The government of Kafuristan announced that it shall proceed with the second part of the newly drafted plan of action later this year. Meanwhile, Al'Badara is preparing to assist the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati by sending military aid, although no official announcement has been made from their government so far.

Saridani coasts now isolated; Kafuri Navy on the alert
July 3115

The calendar shows 12 July, 3115.

The military plan of action with regards to the naval blockade of the Saridani mainland, which began in December, has successfully isolated the coasts by sea, and neither trade routes nor other forms of sea transport are allowed from this point and on to pass through the Kafuri naval barrier. "Statistics report that the Saridani decrease in trade has climbed to 9%", Mr. Maximilian III stated, "and those statistics include both agricultural products, and supplies for any military activity within the mainland. The petroleum industry of Kafuristan, despite the significant losses in the export sector, no longer supplies Saridan with fuel. That was issued by an executive order so that problems would have been created in the military manufacturing line the Nameless Party is supervising." Despite the 9% decrease in trade, and the 10.5% decrease in petroleum importation, the new revolutionary regime in the mainland has managed to "answer" with a budget increase towards the military sector to 54% of the annual estimated government spending. "With all those decreases in trade and importation, it is simply a matter of logic to realize the rapidly dwindling quality of life for the Saridani people", Mr. Maximiliann III commented.

There is persistent defense from the coastal lines, but after eliminating the remaining vessels of the enemy, the Kafuri Navy withdrew to a safe distance from where they would be able to control the coast without being involved in the land to sea defense line of sight. Two more vessels of the Kafuri Navy have been sunk, and many more military men have died. The situation for the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati is manageable and that is because of the second plan of action the government of Kafuristan is slowly putting to action, a motion which shall be reported as soon as the information is announced.

An ICBM can inflict serious damage from great distance

Meanwhile, the leading powers in Surtilati, the cabinet and the government of the previous regime of Saridan, who fled to the island just before Golemia was enclosed, have taken the initiative of using the information they had collected from their Ministry of Defense to disable all ICBM and long range missile weaponry, including the nuclear equipment that could have been used by the rebels to attack in any way. Through the usage of activation codes the missiles and bombs have been set to inactive stance indefinitely, until the trigger codes are entered, information which solely the leading powers in Surtilati have. "We destroyed all archives and information and every evidence, including codes and military information before we fled to Surtilati", was the comment of a previous member of the Saridani cabinet, "so that the rebel groups would not be able to use them. Sadly we can't use them either because we disabled all long range communications through the code, but were thankfully able to deactivate their manual triggering systems as well, thanks to our computer engineers here in Surtilati."

The matter of ICBMs and nuclear bombing equipment has been discussed over and over again within the ranks of the Kafuri government, but as far announcements have been made by both them and the Kafuri Military Command in Surtilati there shall be no use of them in this conflict, due to the immense number of civilians involved and the limited information intelligence has with regards to the rebel army's locations. Nevertheless, several air raids were conducted over the past month, weirdly without any counter attack from the Armed Land of Saridan, successfully eliminating several control points and one enemy base (which offered little to go on, as it was partially deserted and no aircrafts were spotted), information drawn from the previous government of Saridan now located under protection in Surtilati.

Increased military Presence in Surtilati; Al'Badara assists Kafuristan by military means
July 3115

Image
Al'Badaran military aid - Zappgrad, Saridan

The calendar shows 25 July, 3115 and military presence around the Saridani mainland increases as the Al'Badaran government authorizes military assistance to the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati. Nobody can enter or leave from the Saridani mainland by sea as the close grip of the coastal lines has been strengthened due to the increase of naval vessels thanks to the arrival of Al'Badaran military assistance. More troops have arrived in Surtilati by an executive order issued from Kafuristan and with the combination of both the Al'Badaran assistance and the remaining Saridani army, navy and air force, in the island of Surtilati the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati has a significant force under its orders.

Meanwhile, the revolutionary regime in Saridan continues its rapid structural development by imposing harsh military laws over the basic foundations of the human civil rights doctrine in the hope of achieving a long term success with regards to their revolutionary ideas concerning the nation of Saridan. Opposition has sprung up in the mainland under the banner of the Socialist Party of Saridan. Many of its members have been arrested and executed, intelligence reports, while the KMC of Surtilati has been attempting for the past weeks to communicate with that group, in order to establish some hopeful grounds with the situation in the mainland.

Time is Running Out
August 3115

This is an early edition of 4 August, 3115 for the RKP. In this morning's press conference, Mr. Tasimos Maximilian III, Secretary of the Empire of Kafuristan, Representative of the Kafuri Emperor and the Queranzári People, Administrator of the Government of Kafuristan and Head Representative of the Liberal Urban Party of Kafuristan, as well as Head Coordinator of the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati, made the following statement:

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for responding on such short notice. First of all, the use of my official titles to announce me to this podium refers to the seriousness of the situation, as time is running out, and, as you shall come to realize, the need for serious and definite action has already been expressed by the involved groups in this conflict and there are no pretexts this time not to act accordingly to address the situation in Saridan. Ironically, it's time for it, before the latter runs out. Bare with me, as I proceed with the official announcement, for which I have called you here. Press releases from the Saridani mainland indicate a rapid structural development with regards to the military lines of the revolutionary forces and Kafuri intelligence has confirmed it. They have turned old traditional Saridani values into a militarist authoritarian state imposed society. Calls from the opposition groups in the mainland allow us to make a safe conclusion to the dangerously rising situation of the ongoing civil war in Saridan: it is time to act. The Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati is more than capable of managing a full force counter attack with the ultimate goals of pushing the rebel forces to retreat and inevitably to achieve victory. The government of Kafuristan has long forestalled this final retaliation military move on mainland Saridan. The naval blockade has produced minimum results as the Nameless Party resorted to the extreme plan of abandoning the society's needs and focusing entirely on military restructuring and development, a measure we sincerely believed the Nameless Party would not take, even for their standards. The citizens of Saridan would have been in revolt, demonstrating and repelling the new regime, if only they were not confined and restricted by this insanely evil military state. I say evil, not because of subjectiveness, but because of the murders we know they have committed, because of the injustice we know they have caused and because of the lack of humanity and responsibility we know they have. It is once again time to act, and certain events pinpoint to that. The enemy's aircrafts have taken off, it is now time for the ultimate war, one which shall declare our victory and their demise."

Hell on Air Breaks Loose
August 3115

The calendar shows 6 August, 3115 and the enemy's 150 military aircrafts have taken off.

Image
Kafuri Air Force engaging in battle - Golemia, Saridan

Shortly after the appearance of the Armed Land of Saridan's military aicrafts into the air, the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati ordered an immediate response by all naval and air forces situated in Surtilati. With the help of the government of Al'Badara, of Surtilati and Kafuristan, a total of 125 elite aircrafts took off and approached Golemia immediately, where the Kafuri Navy had already began attacking shore defenses, exchanging fire with the enemy's aircrafts as well. At approximately 21:02, the air battle of Golemia was official. Our intelligence estimates that Golemia has been turned into an aircraft "graveyard", with all the debris falling inside the city's premises. It is an undergoing ferocious battle, while both the Kafuri aircraft carrier and the two Al'Badaran ones, the BNV Sultan Qudamah I and the BNV Emir Mu'adh, are now located just outside Golemia's port, refueling the aircrafts and allowing for a quick comeback.

It is impossible to produce good estimations about the ongoing situation, as Golemia is lighting like a city in celebration, with all the fire exchanges, the explosions and ground destructions. It seems all hell has broken loose and both the rebel forces and the KMC of Surtilati are fighting to death.

Magna Incusio - Part One
August 3115

The calendar shows 8 August, 3115. The last invasion has began.

Image
Parachute troops to the South of Mullenska - Region of Warris, Saridan

It was a matter of time before the KMC of Surtilati finally made a move into the mainland, and that time has come. Thousands of troops have parachuted to the outskirts of Mullenska, Saridan's northern mainland port, while the Kafuri Navy has commenced one of the heaviest attacks a city can bare. All coastal defenses have been raised to the ground and the port of Mullenska has been completely destroyed. More transport ships arrived, unloading a large number of artillery and heavy infantry units. Those tanks and armed units immediately engaged against stationed enemy units in Mullenska. Some units of the air force from the ongoing air battle in Golemia arrived in the city shortly afterwards, bombing the hell out of the outskirts of Mullenska. The parachute troops made a way through the perimeter and the city, within 8 hours of the invasion, was forced to surrender after a large number of rebel forces were arrested or killed.

Image
Map of Saridan

While the attack on Golemia continues, in the captured city of Mullenska there was rapid reorganization of the Kafuri Invasion Force, which immediately continued marching against the city of Limaford, further away in the mainland. Meanwhile, the Kafuri Navy sailed towards the city of Asadma, a military based center of operations for the enemy, intelligence reported in the past. Bombing began right away against the coastal defenses and the port of Asadma, while the navy was attacked by a few remaining enemy vessels in the city's port. So far, attacks on both the city of Asadma and Golemia are still taking place.

Missile Launches from Surtilati
August 3115

Image
Missile Launches from Surtilati

11 August, 3115 and things in mainland Saridan are looking good for the Kafuri Invasion Force. Sadly, the air battle in Golemia is still work in progress, while to the East, Asadma is taking heavy damage from the Kafuri Navy. The military marching towards the city of Limaford in Warris continues and soon enough, the city shall be enclosed. Many towns and villages have been taken on the way, some surrendered, many welcomed the troops with joy while regrettably some others resisted. Many rebel units have been arrested and were led back to Mullenska, which has been turned into a devastating prison. The Kafuri Military Command in Surtilati, by an executive order from Kafuristan, has launched hundreds of long range missiles from the island, which devastated the city of Asadma, along with its outskirts. Missile bombings extended further away from Asadma, causing heavy damage to a small number of military bases as well. No nuclear weapons were used, nor weapons of chemical nature, as "There is an inescapably large number of unarmed citizens at stake here", was Mr. Maximilian III's comment, "and we are in no way going to jeopardize their safety seeing that the revolutionary army is not doing much of a progress for now."

Nevertheless, the Kafuri Military Command of Surtilati remains on the alert.
