Likatonian assault routs Kafuri Navy. Naval protection of O'mer region crumbles.

LEHONTI-- The continued assault by Likatonia and its allies on the Kafuri Navy in the O'mer region has resulted in heavy losses for the Kafuri 2nd and 3th Fleets. During the latest clashes between the navies of Likatonia and Kafuristan in the "Sea of Lost Souls", the Likatonian navy managed to sink several Kafuri Royal Navy vessels, including the flagship of the 3th fleet the KNV "Hassuf I", a Zahid Class destroyer. The other sunked vessels are the destroyers KNV "Masood", KNV "Fakhri", KNV "Bilal", the frigates KNV "Wasi" and KNV "Yahya" and the corvettes KNV "Fadl" and KNV "Ali". Several other ships, including the recently repaired flagship of the 2nd fleet the KNV "Naji I", were damaged during the fighting. The KNV "Naji I" was hit by Likatonian fighters aiding the Likatonian navy, loosing its bridge and sustaining heavy damage. It managed to pull out of battle before the Likatonian forces could deal the final blow and retreated to the Migron Naval Base in the city of Migron, Nekkah Province (western Kafuristan). After loosing both flagships, the remaining Kafuri vessels where forced to flee the battle. Having managed to escape, be it disorderly, from the area, they retreated to the Majataran Sea coast of the Nekkah Province in western Kafuristan, where they joined the Kafuri 1st Fleet stationed there. Although the Kafuri Forces managed to damage several Likatonian and Cildanian vessels, several of them heavy, the Kafuri Royal Navy cant confirm if any of the enemy ships where sunk during the battle. The Ministry of Defence announced that more than 2100 sailors and officers were martyred in the battle, losing their lifes for the holy war against Likatonia. That makes the total number of martyrs in this war be 3350+, including 158 civilians.

The retreat of the Kafuri Royal Navy from the O'mer region, increases fears of an invasion of Kafuristan by Likatonia and its allies. The Kafuri Supreme Military Council has redirected several units based in central Kafuristan, including units from the Trigunian Expeditionary Force, to the O'mer region to reinforce the units allready present there.

Kafuri Government refuses to recognize the illegal elections held in Jakania. Kafuristan offers support to Sultan Syed I.

LEHONTO-- In a public statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Husayn ibn Ahmed Ali, the Kafuri Government made it clear that it does not recognize the recently held elections in Jakania, as they are "illegal" and "unrecognized" by the Jakanian government of Syed I. The Kafuri Government still views the regime of Sultan Syed I as the legitimate and official government of Jakania and dismissed the establishment of a new cabinet lead by the United Jakania Democratic Party as dangerous and harmfull for the unity in Jakania. General Husayn ibn Ahmed Ali stated that the Kafuri Government has put a bill up for vote allowing the Kafuri Armed Forces to support Sultan Syed I immediatly. The bill allows for several units of the Abadi Royal Guard, the personal guards of the Kafuri Monarch, and fo elements of the Kafuri Royal Airforce to be deployed in Jakania and help end the popular insurrection against the regime of Sultan Syed I.

Minister of Foreign Affairs criticizes Likatonian imperialism.

LEHONTI-- the Kafuri Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Husayn ibn Ahmed Ali, has strongly criticized the Likatonian government for its involvement in the conflict between Loyalist and Republican forces in Jakania. General Ali called the deployement of Likatonian troops to Jakania another example of Likatonian imperialism and its anti-Majatran policies. Likatonia is only trying to control the natural resources of Jakania and sees the popular uprising against the regime of Syed I as an opportunity to get that control. The people of Jakania must not let themselfs be deceived by the socalled "support for the Jakanian people" by the Likatonian government, as this is just a tool to control and influence Jakanian politics and its economy. When asked if the Kafuri military stationed in Jakania to support Syed I would engage the Likatonian troops in Jakania, General Ali replied with laughter and said that if Akim wants it, we will defeat our enemies and the enemies of our allies. Reports from within the Kafuri Armed Forces say that the troops stationed in Jakania are ready, able and highly motivated to enage the oposing forces, especially those of Likatonia, who they defeated in the Southern Ocean War a couple of years ago.

The Abadi Army for the Protection of Kafuristan, a militant group, has announced that they will support their Jakanian brothers in their fight against the Likatonian crusaders. In an statement made by the group's leader, Sheikh Omar ibn Nassar al-Qassam, the group states that it will increase their actions against the Likatonian armed forces in the southern Majatra area. Sheikh al-Qassam called upon all Abadi believers to destroy the crusader armies that threaten our Jakanian brethern as we did in our fight against the crusaders invading Kafuristan.

AAPK militants execute 16 Likatonian soldiers.

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- Pro-Syed AAPK militants have released on their website a shocking video footage of a firing squad in which they execute 16 Likatonian soldiers in the restive Sonhata region of Jakania. The newspaper Ranz'riah Kafuri Press -- based in Lehonti, Kafuristan -- reported that it also had received the video earlier today. The video shows 16 soldiers lined up with their hands tied behind their backs in front of gunmen who open fire on them. The men are seen collapsing as they are sprayed with bullets. The militant commanders later pump bullets at close-range into bodies still moving. Local residents discovered the corpses once the militants had left the troubled area. The Likatonian military has confirmed the authenticity of the video and condemned the brutal incident. "They are merciless terrorists and this is the threat which we are up against. We have suffered the most at the hands of the AAPK and its affiliates... At the same time Likatonia has delivered the most against them, both in the war against Kafuristan as well in the conflict in Jakania," an Likatonian Army Spokesman said.

Sources say the militants who had executed the soldiers came from the Abi'nadi region in Kafuristan. This region is the home of the Abadi Army for the Protection of Kafuristan (AAPK), a radical Abadi militant group. The group was founded during the war between Kafuristan and Likatonia as a resistence group. The group claims responsibility for the bombing of the Likatonian embassies in Jakania and Al'Badara as well as the kidnapping and killing of Likatonian soldiers and civilians in Kafuristan and the use of IED against Likatonian troops in the war. In an recent statement made by the AAPK's religious leader, Sheikh Hassan ibn Nibour al-Qathoum, the group has issued its support for the embattled Jakanian Sultan, Syed I, saying that the Likatonian crusaders must be destroyed no matter the cost. Sheikh al-Qathoum said that an attack on Jakania is an attack on Kafuristan, therefor we call upon all Abadi to do Akim's work and kill the crusaders and their minions in Jakania.

Hassuf I offers assylum to Syed I, critisizes foreign interventions in Jakania.

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- In an unexpected public address on Kafuri state television, His Majesty Hassuf I has offered political assylum to the embatled Jakanian Sultan, Syed I. H.M. Hassuf I said that it seems increasingly unlikely that Syed I can get the situation under controle and maintain his position as the recognized leader of Jakania. These remarks are seen as a turningpoint in Kafuristan's policy for Jakania. Up until now the Kafuri Government has fully supported Syed I and has even send a small force to ais the embattled Sultan.
The Government of Kafuristan has offered to grant Syed I political assylum in Kafuristan, but imposes some limitations to his person. Syed I will be prohibited to engage in Kafuri politics and he will be places under protective house arrest for his own protection.

In the public address Hassuf I also called the intervention of the nations supporting the republican forces in Jakania as being a dangerous turn of events. These actions threaten the unity of Jakania and the stability of the entire Majatran continent. H.M. the Grand Emir called for a diplomatic solution to the conflict and has offered to mediate between the opposing factions in Jakania.

Kafuri Special Forces evacuate Syed I. Jakanian Sultan placed under house arrest.

September 3190

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- several units of the Kafuri special forces, the Special Service Unit, have evacuated Sultan Syed I from his palace compund in the Jakanian capitol of Wakanda. Several hours before Syed I announced his abdication, the Sultan was taken in secret to a nearby airfield by elements of the Special Service Unit. At the airfield an airplane of the Kafuri Royal Airforce was waiting to transport Syed I and several of his family members, including his wife the Sultana, to Kafuristan.

At the moment that Syed I announced his abdication, he was allready nearing Kafuristan. Some speculate that the Kafuri Government and even Hassuf I, the Grand Emir of Kafuristan, pushed Syed I to abdicate in an effort to end the Jakanian Civil War. After the airplane landed in the Kafuri capitol of Lehonthi, Syed I was taken to the Ministry of Defence where he was received by the Minister of Defence, General Hayder ibn Fathi al-Kader. The Minister of Defence offered Syed I the terms of his stay in Kafuristan. The Government of Kafuristan imposses restrictions to the assylum offered. Syed I will be banned from participating in Kafuri politics and will be placed under protective house arrest in the Ibn Eisa Royal Palace complex in Corom, Emirate Abi'nadi. Sources close to the government say that Syed I has accepted the terms. These terms also apply to the members of Syed's family that have fled to Kafuristan.

After the meeting with the Minister of Defence, Syed I was taken to his new home, the Ibn Eisa Royal Palace in Corom, Emirate Abi'nadi. There Syed I was reunited with his son and his son's wife, Crown Prince Syed II and Princess Hasnah. The Royal Couple fled to Kafuristan during the early months of the Jakanian Civil War after strong pressure of the Kafuri Government. Princess Hasnah is the only daughter of Hassuf I, the Grand Emir of Kafuristan.

Kafuristan recognizes Syed II as legitimate ruler of Jakania.

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government of Kafuristan says it recognizes Crown Prince Syed as the new and legitimate ruler of Jakania. This comes after the announcement by the Crown Prince's father, Sultan Syed I, that he has abdicated as the monarch of Jakania. It is still unkown if the Crown Prince himself has any plans to succeed his father, but the recognistion by Kafuristan shows that he has international support if he does do it.

Critics say this move by the Kafuri Government is to increase its influence in Jakania. Kafuristan has supported the Jakanian royal family since the creation of the Jakanian Empire. The strong relations between both royal houses led to the marriage of the Jakanian Crown Prince with the daughter of the Kafuri Grand Emir, Princess Hasnah. Rumors say that the Kafuri Government forced the Jakanian Sultan to abdicate after Kafuri Special Forces Unit abducted the Sultan from his palace complex in Wakanda, Jakania. Experts say that by this move the Kafuri Government is trying to gain support for a constitutional monarchy in Jakania. Sultan Syed I had last much of his legitimacy during the Jakanian Civil War and it was hoped that his son would be more acceptable for the rebelious forces in Jakania.

Kafuristan criticizes Likatonia.

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- The Kafuri Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Husayn ibn Ahmed Ali, has criticized the Likatonian government over their continued involvement in the Jakanian Civil War and on their treatment of captured Monarchist soldiers. “It is not acceptable that some who are several thousands of kilometers away from Southern Majatra would send their troops for military intervention and for spreading war, bloodshed, aggression, terror and intimidation in the whole region, while blaming the protests of nations in the region that are concerned about their fate and their national security,” General Ali said.

General Ali continued by saying that; "There are prisoners mostly Monarchist soldiers and militia, on the Likatonian island of Meria that have not been tried, have no legal representation, their families cannot see them and are obviously kept in a strange land outside their own country. There is no international monitoring of their conditions and fate. No one knows whether they are prisoners, POWs, accused or criminals.

Kafuri intelligence have confirmed the existence of secret prisons in Jakania and Likatonia where captured Monarchist soldiers and militia are being 'interrogated'. This socalled 'enhanced interrogation' is nothing more than just plain torture. I can not correlate the abduction of a person, and him or her being kept in secret prisons and being tortured there, with the provisions of any judicial system. For that matter, I fail to understand how such actions correspond to the values of human rights and liberal values, which the Likatonian government claims to adhere. The Government of Kafuristan demands that any Kafuri citizens in one of these secret prisons are given acces to a lawyer and to consular help. "

Palace coup succeeds, Grand Emir Hassuf I placed under house arrest.

May 3193

LEHONTI, KAFURISTAN-- This morning units loyal to Crown Prince Ameen stormed the Qasr al-Alam Royal Palace complex in Lehonti. After several houres of heavy gunbattles, which left 21 people dead and numerous injured, the forces loyal to Crown Prince Ameen managed to capture the palace complex. It is not known if H.M. the Grand Emir was at the palace complex when the assault begon, but government sources say Grand Emir Hassuf I has currently been placed under house arrest.

After the assault Crown Prince Ameen said in a brief televised address: "I am not happy with what has happened, but it had to be done and I had to do it." Senior members of the ruling al-Majali family and senior military and government officials gathered in the capital, Lehonti, to pledge allegiance. It seems that the military, which holds large influence over the Kafuristans politics, does not oppose the palace coup.

Crown Prince Ameen, 30, the new Grand Emir, told an emergency cabinet meeting that circumstances which he did not explain had forced him "to take the reins of power in the country, thus replacing my father, who will remain the respected and beloved father of everyone".

It remains uncertain how stable the reign of the Grand Emir Ameen II will be as some parts of the Kafuri society, including parts of the army might still be loyal to the former Grand Emir.

Kafuristan recognizes Barmenian opposition government.

November 2309,

LEHONTI-- Kafuristan is expelling the Barmenian ambassador and all other remaining Barmenian embassy staff in Lehonti after the Government of Kafuristan ruled that Barmenistan's Government-in-Exile, lead by the Islamic Socialist Party of Barmenistan, was now the "sole governmental authority" for that country.

The ambassador was summoned to a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was given three days to leave Kafuristan. Other diplomats at the Barmenian embassy have been told to leave over the course of the month. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Ali, announced the expulsions at a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press conference today as he invited the Government-in-Exile to nominate an ambassador and other diplomats to take over the Barmenian mission.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said: "The Sharif and I have decided that Kafuristan recognises and will deal with the Government-in-Exile as the sole governmental authority for Barmenistan. The Sharif, General al-Sultan, invites the head of the Government-in-Exile, Emir Yunus El-Amin, for a meeting to discus the current situation in Barmenistan."

Sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that high ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the MInistry of Defence have met with representatives of the Barmenian Government-in-Exile over the past few weeks. The sources did not tell about what the meetings where, but it is speculated that the Kafuri Armed Forces have been involved with training and arming the Revolutionary Socialist Guard Corp, the militia of the Socialist Party of Barmenistan. These speculations however are unconfirmed at the moment.
