Short newsflash
Fragmentation in political landscape predicted.

With the coming elections, a fragmentation is predicted among the electorate. The 'return-effect' of the FDP will show its backside and about 150 to 200 (sceptics say 50 to 100) seats are about to be redivided, with a possible election victory for centre-left. We are looking forward to a very interesting elections.

LANDSLIDE VICTORY FOR THE FDP

With election results finalized, it is safe to say the Free Democratic Party, the realignment of the former Union for a Popular Movement, has again secured an impressive majority in the Federal Senate of the Kundrati Union. Many insiders and pundits, even from the FDP, expected the electorate to succumb to a "return-effect," leveling off last elections landslide victory for the FDP. This appears to not be the case. Substantial gains, nearly 5%, were seen across all provinces, netting the FDP 47 more seats in the legislature, for a total of 444.

Due to election law in the Kundrati Union, only the monarch has the power to appoint a government, and he has seen fit to maintain the government of the increasingly powerless coalition of right-leaning parties. FDP party leader Porfirio Nero, however, has declared himself continuing de-facto Chancellor of the newly reformed, but ceremoniously named, shadow government of Nero 1. FDP Leader Nero later made a statement, claiming "The People of the Kundrati Union have spoken once more. They have again voted overwhelmingly against the failed policies of rightists and believers in the despotism of the invisible hand. This is a proud day for our policies, our people, and our nation."

A flood of legislation is expected from the right side of the aisle, as well as the center, in the coming months as they attempt to chip away at the majority of the FDP.

This just in: The KNN is a pinko biased station that no one except the FDP watches.

In other news: Kundrati is slowly going to hell as its once perfectly balanced state of policy and order are toppling under hippie pinko regulation. Riots are breaking out, especially in Jildrath, where the FDP is largely unpopular. While still pulling in a little under 40% of the vote there last election, the FDP is despised by much of the other 60%. Jildrath remains in its current state of chaos.

And lastly, I would like to remind everyone that the KNN is pinko news. Good night.

New start for the Kundrati Union

After a long period of silence and political impasse, the Kundrati Union is up for some refreshments. The debates and conversation starting to open up on Kundrati's participation on international stages and ethical issues overrunning Kundrati's society. Away from the capital coalition that delivered the elite conservative consensus strangling Kundrati's citizens for years. The Kundrati Union's political system currently consist of only two parties, what makes our nation a two-party system, probably not permanent. It is supposed to make the legislative power more powerful and consistent contrary to what some democratic purist may claim, but this could also be a temporary thing. As one-party governments tend to fade-out over time.

Now the Head of Government, Chris Jodyn, Kundrati's first citizen over the Head of State, stands proudly. Being a typical paradox in a nation with a constitutional issue that cannot be changed, ironically...the two-party system that offers the Communitarian Union the 60% majority, is not enough to fulfil their dreams...reforming the constitution: making the HoG and HoS into one single executive power. The current political situation leaves us with a constitutional problem and a political problem, once again. Not to mention the issues on reforming the ministry of finance, internal affairs, the powers of the regional authorities and federal government. So in conclusion, Chris Jodyn, looking forward to his fourth term, still has allot of work to do.

"Two-party system? Not so fast Chancellor!"

Image

The newspapers weren't even printed yet when an old political family and long-term strong-holder declared theirself back in the land of the living. The Social Democratic Party, a potential political partner for the governing Communitarian Union, is back on the scene after 35 years of inactivity. "We already contacted the party president of the SDP and welcomed them back in the Kundrati Senate, hoping for close collaboration in the near future", said Chris Jodyn. "A long-standing political party as the SDP, has a faithful electorate, which political representatives we can form a government with in the next legislature, hopefully!". Chris Jodyn hoping for a partner in getting the 66% majority to pass the amendment for changing the constitution, the text for that motion still in writing, as he self stated...and we're very curious about.

Lebowitz killed Telamon-Kundrati Relations!

The former minister, Martin Lebowitz, informed me that the new minister refused to continue with the negotiations between our nations

(http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=264155)
Quote from the discussion in the Kundrati Senate

Not only did Mr Lebowitz lie on the issue of his retirement from politics, after further investigation one more lie was revealed. Mr Lebowitz after have stopped being FA Minister misinformed the Kundrati Officials speaking the words quoted. "I never said that I refuse to continue negotiations with Kundrati, this is an utter lie of Mr Lyingbowitz!" said Mr Krkljus. "He has destroyed Telamon-Kundrati relationships, and now I am working hard to repair them." Mr Nicin issued an official Presidential Condemnation to Mr Lebowitz, saying: "Telamon-Kundrati relationship really didn't need this, Lebowitz left a lot of mess before leaving."

Jodyn new Consul, SDP remains the largest.

Image

A quite surprising result at yesterday elections. Nobody expected any changes for the Senate nor the position for the Head of State. Yet a surprising turn of events, the opponent for former Consul Junuh (SDP), Mister Chris Jodyn (CU), won with over 56% of the votes. "I'm very happy, this is the reward of 4 years of hard work of my party, I also want to thank Mister Junuh for being such a supportive and decent competitor." Consul Jodyn stated. He also said to our paper that this would not really change anything in the current government coalition, but he also stated that he would like to see the NO party get involved. Chris Jodyn's party, the Communitarian Union gained 5%, +40 seats in the Senate, the Social Democratic Party of Junuh lost 21%, -159 seats in the Senate. The big winner of this election is the NO which gained 16%, +119 seats in the Senate. When we look at the composition of the resigning government coalition, the majority still remains strong...however both SDP and CU now have an alternative option. The HoS wants his State of the Union ready by tomorrow, so government coalition partners are to agree on a very short notice, let's see how this turns out.

Relations with Telamon clinches

Conversations between the minister of FA from Kundrati and Telamon that were used to debate about the treaty talks 'debacle' between both nations, in the Kundrati Senate. Was leaked to the international press, who used quotes from the debate as actual proof to point out the political war between the former and new Telamon minister of FA. Apparently the former Telamon minister of FA lied about the fact that the treaty talks should put on hold due to a 'not willing to cooperate' from the new Telamon minister of FA. Kundrati minister of FA, John Bruton, calls it "An electoral charade". "We are very keen to work together with Telamon administrations, but not to get involved in internal political issues." But Buron also added he wants to stay in touch and remains available to continue talks with Telamon.

JUNUH RESIGNS AS PARTY LEADER

Horatio Junuh, former Consul of the Kundrati Union, has resigned as the party leader of the Social Democratic Party. The former Consul felt that it was time to step down to allow the next generation of party leaders to take the reigns into the coming election. Mr. Junuh, in questions after his announcement, declined to name his preferred successor.

Speculation about who will be the next party leader is abundant, with Constantine Sage, outgoing Finance Minister, and Samuel Agrippa, current Defense Minister, leading in opinions among party members. Both lead different "wings" of the party, with Minister Sage the head of the Progressive Federal Caucus, and Minister Agrippa, head of the more conservative "Stalwarts," advocates of more centralization oriented policy.

A new leader is expected to be elected within the next few days, as the party readies to convene a convention to elect their new leader.

Telamon treaty causes government disunion.

Image
John Bruton defending the drafted Telamon treaty before the Senate

Last month there was some commotion within Telamon authorities concerning the course of the Kundrati-Telamon relations and the attending minister. Now the drafting of the treaty has caused some disunion within our own the Kundrati government. "In februari of 2816, there was a debate in the commission of foreign affairs concerning the treaty. The attendants were able to analyse and evaluate the articles of the text written by former Telamon officials, including similar interests for both our nations, based on a treaty between Telamon and Luthori. At that time there was some questioning concerning article 2.02b which stated that both signatories shall not provide arms, troops, funding, or other forms of aid to any nation at war with either signatory of this treaty. This was before the event happened with the disputed former Telamon minister of foreign affairs. Mister Bruton, our minister of foreign affairs, believed that article 2.02b was the only concern about the treaty text. He stated that the remaining articles in section 2 were 'obvious and logical' and that the deleted section was 'acceptable' to have removed from the treaty. Bruton: "That is of course obvious but its more an unwritten agreement then something that should be included in a friendship treaty. It means that if any other nation, searching an alignment with us, that has the slightest issue with Telamon, is blocked by that single article in our treaty. That however does not count for the other articles of section 2, which includes advanced military actions." So according to him it was acceptable for both nations to have section 2.02b deleted from the treaty text, with consent from both nation's parliaments for the adapted version. Now that the treaty is being re-drafted and is being put up for debate in the Kundrati Senate, Kundrati's largest party, the SDP, says that they don't agree with the entire section 2.02, something not mentioned by the SDP during the commission debate. An unfortunate turn of events for minister Bruton as the treaty has gone public: "I have the carry the whole responsibility for this, how should I be able to maintain my credibility if something like that happens." The CU said that it would have the government coalition resigned if the treaty does not get the two-third majority that is needed from the Senate. A statement that 'forces' the SDP to vote in favour of the treaty ...according to their reply to Bruton's statement. A manoeuvre that saves the treaty draft but causes a great deal of distrust within the government coalition.

SAGE IN AS LEADER

In a hotly contested race between rivals within the party, former Finance Minister Constantine Sage has been elected by the SDP party congress as the new Leader of the Party. Sage defeated current Minister of Defense Samuel Agrippa on the second ballot of voting, due to the "compromise" choice of Tiberius Mundial, Minister of Trade and Industry, garnered enough votes to prevent Mr. Sage from achieving a majority on the first ballot. A unity rally was held after Party Leader Sage's first address to the Party Congress, in which he promised to continue the liberal progressive policies of his predecessor, former Consul Horatio Junuh.

SDP Will Support Kundrati-Telamon friendship treaty

In his first statements to the members of the Federal Senate, Party Leader Constantine Sage announced that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) will support the forthcoming friendship treaty between the Kundrati Union and Telamon. Mr. Sage has made it clear his perceived objections, but stated that he does not wish this treaty to be a de-facto vote of confidence in the current governing coalition. "With elections coming in the next few months," Mr. Sage commented, "it would be irresponsible of me and my party to detonate the peace of the current coalition. I desire that the will of the Kundrati people be expressed due to their views on our policies, not on our stance on one particular treaty. We will support this right now."
