Kundrati forces on high alert in war-torn Terra
[1 September 5471]
War. War never changes.
Lourenne and Beiteynu, two of Kundrati's most significant and incredible friends, are at war. Badara joins Beiteynu in the war per their Majatran obligations. It is a tragedy that diplomatic attempts to resolve the crisis that has struck between Beiteynu and Lourenne within the last two years have been futile.
Kundrati initially declared a closure of Artanian seas from non-Artanian, non-Seleyan, and non-Makonese naval vessels to prevent a war from happening within these seas. The reaction was unprecedented and irrational as Luthori, Dundorf, and the Dual Republic condemned it, and even Luthori was not far from sanctions upon her longtime ally. The closure ended. However, Kundrati is still on alert.
Solder's military leave has been canceled. Kundrati naval forces perform war exercises in preparation of a potential rampup in conflict, after all Kundrati is an ally of Beiteynu and, per their treaty, Kundrati shall go to Beiteynu's aid. However, Kundrati have already announced that they will only participate with humanitarian and financial assistance and that no Kundrati soldiers will go to war unless an Artanian nation or an ally is attacked. This is not to mention the ongoing daily exercises with the Kundrati Air Force and the Kundrati Army, which prepare defenses around the country to prevent any enemy from walking to Kasaema or other cities and taking the country.
While the number of missile defense assets Kundrati has is a national secret, reports are coming that Kundrati has secretly ordered more land—and sea-based defense assets and rockets.
The Prime Minister of Kundrati, Mikuláš Stejskal, has announced that it may be likely that the country will go to a state of emergency for the duration of the world war under the agreement of the Legislature is the ultimate authority for these kinds of situations in Kundrati. A state of emergency, distinct from a state of conflict only in that it is not considered martial law and, thus, military control of government not being an option, is a way for Kundrati to centralize power in the event of grave emergencies and gives the Prime Minister and the President additional emergency powers.
The economy has been hit hard due to the war. The Kundrati Stock Exchange has dropped multiple points. At the same time, non-essential economic assets (for example, consumer technology) have been forced to reduce production as focus is placed on military equipment like new submarines and planes alongside defense assets. Unemployment is discouraged as more people are being sent to work on military hardware. Kundrati has been slowly returning to a wartime economy for almost 20 years since the Kirlawan Intervention.
However, this war is not very popular. Most people interviewed were confused about why Beiteynu and Lourenne, longtime allies for centuries, would go to war against each other. The Prime Minister himself has condemned both Beiteynu and Lourenne for their actions, stating that these countries "...have thrown away the idea of everything they stood for just to throw rocks at each other..." and that "...they want a total war." In a speech to a crowded stadium of 25,000 people, he delivered a speech that opposed a war with Lourenne:
Lourenne claims that Beiteynu fired first and is trying to attack everything they stand for. Meanwhile, our allies of Beiteynu claim that Lourenne despises them and wishes to destroy Terra with them, saying that they want a total war. These countries have thrown away the idea of everything they stood for to throw rocks at each other. I ask you: Do you want the total war?! Do you want it, if necessary, more total and radical than anything that we can yet today even conceive?!
[The crowd shouts no.]
