Message From the Leader of the Conservative Party of Hutori

Hello everyone,
With another election behind us I thought I would take the time to speak to my party, and to all Hutorians. I would like to start off by congratulating all new and returning MPs on their election night victories. Being an MP is a great honor and it comes with a lot of responsibility. You are the voice in parliament for thousands of Hutorians who expect you to voice their concerns and wishes on the floor of the house. It is not always easy and it takes a driven person to do it. I think there are a lot of very qualified MPs in that house now. As you all know, I lost my seat in Greater Prosperity West in this election. I would first like to thank the people of my riding for having the faith in me to elect me not once, but 3 times. I have been their MP for 10 years and it has been the best 10 years of my life. I congratulate the new Royalist Party MP on his win and wish him the best of luck over the next 4 years.

Next I must thank the members of the Conservative Party for electing me as their leader a little over 6 years ago. It has been an honor to represent the party as their leader. We have a strong caucus in the federal parliament which has now grown to 68 members. I have gotten to meet so many Hutorians and listen to their concerns and voice them in parliament. With great sadness I must now announce that I will be stepping down as Conservative Party Leader effective immediately. This is a tough decision to make but I believe it is what is best for the party as the leader should be a sitting member of parliament. Until the party chooses a new leader, Eddie Borell, the MP for Northside Prosperity will serve as Interim Leader.

I'd like to thank the Conservative Party for 6 amazing years as leader, and 10 as an MP. I am excited to watch this party grow under the next leader, whoever that may be.

Sincerely,
Riley Hill

THREE CONSERVATIVE MPs RUNNING FOR PARTY LEADERSHIP

Four months removed from Riley Hill's announcement that he would be stepping down as Conservative Party leader, the final list of candidates to replace him has been announced. There are 3 candidates who have put their names forward, they are:

Elizabeth Jones
Image

Elizabeth has been the finance minister of Hutori since 4298. She was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party before they dissolved and then joined the Conservative Party. She has been a favorite among party members since joining the party and it currently seems as though she is the front runner for the leadership.

James Baillie
Image

James is currently the MP for Acton South and has been since 4302. He is a former cabinet minister. He served as Environment and Tourism minister from 4306 until 4310. He has also served as Conservative Party house leader since May of 4306. His years of experience are what make him a legitimate threat to Jones.

Tom Balman
Image

Tom has been the MP for the riding of Greater Prosperity East since 4202. He is the current Minister of Education and Culture. Balman is very popular in his riding and is gaining popularity with Conservatives around the country. As a former teacher, who was very popular in his community, Balman understands the struggles within the education system and has worked hard to fix those problems as Education Minister. Balman's popularity is what makes him a strong contender in this leadership race.

The Conservatives will hold a leadership convention sometime in 4313. At the convention, party members will have the chance to meet the candidates and vote for the candidate that they want to be their next leader. In order to win the party leadership one candidate must receive at least 50% of the vote. If no candidate receives 50% after the first vote, the candidate with the lowest amount of votes is eliminated and a second vote will be held between the final 2 candidates.

JONES ELECTED NEW LEADER OF THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY

Image

One year after former Leader Riley Hill announced he would be stepping down, the Conservative Party of Hutori has held its leadership convention and held the vote. Elizabeth Jones won after just one round of voting, taking 62.4% of the vote. The other 2 candidates, Tom Balman and James Baillie, took 28.9% and 8.7% of the vote respectively. During the entire race Elizabeth was considered the front runner, having now served as Finance Minister for more than 15 years and being the most experienced MP the party has. She takes over from interim leader, Eddie Borell who has announced his retirement from politics, at the age of 68.

The Ataraxian Agenda

Postby TheCollectivist » Thu Dec 07, 2017 8:08 pm

May 4314

During recent parliamentary debates, the Ataraxians have been very vocal about their support of non-interventionism, their condemnation of offensive military action, and firm support of local autonomy. While the Ataraxians self-identify as syncretic (a union of ideas found across the left-right political spectrum), they have been allegedly called "dangerous left-wing cultists" by some Dorvish aristocrats abroad and have gained admiration among some members of the Dorvish far-left community for their communes. In Hutori, they largely remain their own force, representing neither the left, centre or right. The Ataraxian predecessors, the Hutorian Proletarian Party (HPP) self-identified as mostly far-left.

When asked by the Bekenial what voters need to know about them, the Ataraxians responded with their most recently outlined agenda:

1. Local autonomy
- Enhancing and maintaining local autonomy, decreasing federal power and responsibility
- Reforming Hutori into a republican confederation called the "Confederation of Hutori"
- Abolishing the national military in favour of locally controlled militias

2. Non-interventionism
- Refusing to partake in offensive wars and interventions
- Nuclear disarmament, banning nuclear, biological and chemical WMDs
- Respecting other nations' right to self-determination

3. Scientific internationalism
- Supporting national and international scientific research
- Adhering to the scientific method and consensus, rejecting pseudoscience and religion
- Freely sharing scientific discoveries
- Supporting emerging technologies (genetic engineering, hydroponics, etc.)
- Promoting mass surveillance as a tool for making smarter decisions and ensuring accountability among both civilians and governments

4. Eco-communalism
- Constructing and advancing Ataraxian communes
- Supporting sustainable environmental practices
- Treating animals with compassion

5. Council communism
- Supporting workplace democracy and workers' councils

6. Fiscal conservatism
- Decreasing federal spending and taxation
- Elimination of corporate, sales and luxury sales taxes on a federal level
- Refusing to run budget deficits

7. Antinatalism
- Supporting the universal right to die for all
- Supporting population control through eugenics and family planning (not based on racism, but rather hereditary conditions)
- Supporting sterilization and abortion

8. Antisexualism
- Supporting celibacy and comradeship among both genders
- Rejecting promiscuous behaviour
- Rejecting pornographic content

Lyn Kopp, Ambassador of the Ataraxian Confederation wrote:We are truly an alternative, a radically different means of organizing society and viewing the world. Through peaceful co-existence and science we know we can build a better Hutori and thus a better world. We will stand firmly for your right to have ownership and control of your own community. Whether or not you seek a communist, fascist, socialist, conservative, liberal, or whatever system you may choose, we will support your right to self-determination.

Reform of the NCP
Solidum basis est status brachium eius

Image
Logo of the NSP

National Conservative Party in lead with mild David Blix, was for long time in seclusion. Young politician named Jonathan Farlig got in awareness of NCP and soon, with his radical but successful opinions, he was elected as the new party leader. He took the initiative and proposed complete party reform, which was accepted.

Image
Jonathan Farlig

Name of the NCP was changed to National Socialist Party, with philosophy of militarism, national self-determination, the desire for centralism and the need for national unity. Also David Blix was completly suspended from the management of the group and overall happening. Actually Farlig hasn't any rival in the party and everyone is completely devoted to him. Many members of the NSP consider him as a true leader, what they needed and also they see him as the good benefit to the Hutori.

I agree with actual politic situation in the Hutori but there is need to grasp the state more firmly. Democracy it a good thing, when is not in a clutches of evil. I will see, what is bad benefit for the Hutori and I will try to fight with it. Solidum basis est status brachium eius!
-Jonathan Farlig about political situation

National Socialist Party also confirmed, that they follow their own ideology, which they will later attempt to interpret in politics.Ideology of NSP is unknown to the public for now.

Our ideology will help to people and will not harm politics, that is the principle of every right politician.
-Jonathan Farlig shortly about his ideology

Farlig also condemned former party leader, David Blix. According to Farlig's words, Blix perfectly ruined Hagerstrom's basics of the NCP.

Party, which was in the top of the Hutorian politic, is now at the bottom and all thanks to Blix! This person deserves nothing, besides contempt.
-Farlig about Blix

NSP doesn't want to disclose more informations for now.

Project Ataraxia Enters Construction Phase

Postby TheCollectivist » Tue Dec 12, 2017 2:31 am

June 4316

Project Ataraxia, which was approved by the government in March 4298, has begun construction after completing land and drilling surveys. The project hopes to construct the utopian and scientific-based Ataraxian underground community, the "Commune of Ataraxia". Ataraxia is planned to be the centre of research and development for the Ataraxian Confederation and includes plans for a hadron collider, space vehicle launch pad, hydroponics facilities and even research into synthetic meat (among other facilities). The original budget of $10 billion, raised gradually over a period of a century by the 64 Ataraxian communes throughout Adelia, has swelled to $15.3 billion due to unexpected drilling costs for the planned 80 MW geothermal power plant and the inclusion of an observatory with a large reflector telescope.

The 80 MW geothermal power plant will require drilling 5 km deep in order to incorporate an enhanced geothermal system in the binary cycle plant. Surveys for an appropriate drilling site on the 10 km Ataraxian property were conducted, along with early drilling tests to ensure the risk of inducing seismic activity would be minimal. The geothermal power plant will cost an upward of $1.6 billion in capital. While normally Ataraxian communes do not require full-scale power geothermal power plants, the unique energy demand of the planned 1 km in diameter hadron collider, required its implementation. The hadron collider itself remains the project's highest cost at $5.5 billion.

Lyn Kopp, Ambassador of the Ataraxian Confederation wrote:When not conducting experiments with the hadron collider, we estimate up to 20-40 MW will be able to be sold as supplement power into local power grids. Our other energy demands will come from our planned data centre. We will definitely be looking into collaborating with local authorities and companies to install fiber optic cables throughout Adelia. Right now our communes are reliant mostly on satellite connection for telecommunications. With fiber optic connection, we will be able to greatly improve our connection speeds and of course sell high-speed server space at our planned data centre.

As the fiber optic cables would have to be installed outside Ataraxian territory, we would fund their construction with ownership of the cables belonging to the local government and or private IPs, provided we receive free connection as our result of our initial investment.

Construction for the Commune of Ataraxia is expected to be completed in 12 years, in 4328.

The now 57-year-old structural engineer from the Commune of Seira, Lyn Kopp, has been instrumental in the design of the $523.7 million residential section of the Commune of Ataraxia. She has served as the Ataraxian ambassador for the past 13 years since she succeeded Ataraxian founder and general practitioner Dr. Vinal Parish (76 years old) in May 4303. Parish is currently a candidate for Health and Social Services and is included in the recent Proportional Cabinet Proposal of June 4316, which hopes to unite most of the Hutorian political parties into a single cabinet.

The King is Dead, Long Live the Queen

Flags are flying at halfmast throughout Hutori today as Steuart House has confirmed that His Royal Majesty, King Charles, has passed away last night. The King had been struggling with health issues the last several months and is said to have passed away quietly in his sleep in the early morning surrounded by his family.

His daughter and heir, Princess Sarah, now comes to the throne as the new Queen. A spokesperson for Her Royal Majesty, has confirmed she will be taking her namesake as her new Regal Name, taking the name Queen Sarah IV.

Her Royal Majesty is married to Prince Paul of Vanuku, whom is expected to take the title of Prince Consort and made a Grand Duke in honour on his marriage to the Monarch while their eldest son, Prince William, becomes the new Crown Prince. They have a second son, Prince Richard, born less then two years ago.

Delegates are expected to arrive in Bekenial for the Royal Funeral for the first Monarch Hutori has had in almost 4 centuries and for the bidecadal anniversary of the Kingdom of Hutori has it celebrates its 20th year as a Monarchy.

Hutorian Armed Forces Return Home Following Hulstrian Surrender

Image
Returning Soldiers of the 5th Infantry Division

Following a decade of deployment and combat, the combat forces of the Hutorian Armed Forces, are finally returning home. The first combat divisions have arrived back in Port Prosperity, included the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force and the 5th Infantry Division, which saw some of the harshest and most intense fighting of the conflict.

The conflict in Hulstria saw the total combat deployment of nearly every single combat Air Wing, the entirety of the Second Fleet and every ground combat formation within the Hutorian Armed Forces, the single largest deployment of Hutorian combat forces in written history. At its height the Kingdom of Hutori has more combat formations in the field then any other Coalition member that fought against Hulstria, with a Hutorian Commander, General Paul Driscol, serving as the Supreme Commander for most of the bulk of the years before the strain of the job had him relinquish command to the Kazullians. General Driscol and his top combat staff have returned home as true war heroes, with their position within the High Command of the Armed Forces completely secure; every senior commander that served in a senior combat role now holds one of the top jobs at Hutorian Armed Forces High Command, with General Driscol himself now serving as the new Chief of the Defence Staff, taking over for General Jennifer Tipps.

is Highness Prince Kyle, the Grand Duke of Kenai and younger brother of Her Majesty Queen Sarah IV, has proven himself in combat as well, having attained the rank of Major General within the Hutorian Royal Air Force, and at one point having been in command of all Bomber and Fighter Bomber units within the Coalition Air Forces that were striking against Hulstria.

The state of the Hutorian Armed Forces is now at its most heightened state of readiness unseen since the Great Terran War. The veterans returning from Dovani will make very single regular forces members of the Hutorian Royal Army and Marine Corps a combat veteran, with the bulk of Hutori's largest fleet formation now veteran sailors, and almost every single combat pilot within the Fighter and Bomber Corps, giving the Hutorian military a unique advantage within the northern hemisphere outside of Kazullia and Dorvik, the other major contributing member of the military Coalition.

There is a spark of fear that the Government's recent legalization of paramilitaries may also lead to the creation of number private military companies under Hutorian combat veterans seeking to cash in on their vast combat experience. The Royal Guard, the personal bodyguard unit of the Royal Family, a regimental size unit, is said to be stocked with former special forces and elite infantry units that see the majesty and grandeur of joining what is considered the most elite outfit within the Hutorian state; and indeed the best paid as the Hutorian Royal Guard are paid directly by the Royal Family of Hutori rather then the Ministry of Defence.

Although the bulk of the Hutorian Military is indeed returning, several units will be remaining behind during the transition process. The 14th Infantry Division will be occupying northern Ostland, while the 7th Mountain and 9th Airborne Divisions, will be overseeing the occupation of Bodenvaria, an area the Hutorian military operating extensively during the war, while the HNS-John Graham, and its carrier battlegroup, will be remaining on hand to provide naval security, while the 8th Mixed Composite Wing remains to offer Air Support for Coalition forces.

Automated Mining Underway in the Ataraxian Confederation

Postby TheCollectivist » Sun Dec 24, 2017 5:15 am

July 4322

Image
OOC: Source

The Ataraxians have teamed up with private contractors, outside sympathizers and Ataraxian volunteers to utilize teleoperated (remote-controlled) mining equipment in the construction of the Commune of Ataraxia. Instead of opting to use surface mining, Ataraxians have relied on tunneling, a far more dangerous, but potentially less environmentally disruptive process. To make this process safer most of the mining equipment is teleoperated, one of the many fairly new advancements made in automation. The project has attracted numerous geological engineers such as Marvyn Warrick, present Organizer of the Geological Engineering Team of the Commune of Lotus, who has helped conduct and coordinate digging operations. Warrick is part of Project Ataraxia, which was approved by the Hutorian government back in March 4298. The project hopes to construct the Commune of Ataraxia, the planned hub of research and development for the Ataraxian Confederation, which will effectively serve as both the confederate capital, and a benchmark for present and future communes.

The underground facility goes as deep as 234 metres, along with prior drilling for geothermal purposes, which went as far down as 5 kilometres. Apart from an inflated budget (originally set at $10 billion, it has required an extra $5.3 billion in funding), construction so far has gone as planned. Right now, tunneling for the Ataraxian Hadron Collider (AHC) is underway, which is 90 metres below the surface and 1 kilometre in diameter.

Marvyn Warrick, geological engineer wrote:Teleoperation presents its own challenges, but at least if something goes wrong, we will lose machines, not people. I think mining is a perfect example of the immense benefits of automation. Some people, although not most Ataraxians, view automation as a threat because it replaces jobs. They have to understand that many jobs, especially those in mining, can be very dangerous and stressful. If we can take humans out of danger and make the process not only safer, but more efficient, that's a win-win at the end of the day.

Still I do sympathize with those who had previously found themselves useful are now functionally obsolete. It is our responsibility to help elevate these people to more skilled professions. I know this might not convince some technophobes, but ask yourself this: is it better for a man to lose his job or his life? Some might argue both are the same, but while you can replace someone's job, their life is irreplaceable.

Many have spoken about technocracy and its alleged elitist tendencies, but how I see it, technocracy is really just the future of governance in an ergatocratic system like ours. Unskilled workers will still have a say, and unanimous consensus is still required for changes to be made, but with the rate of how things are going, they are going to find themselves in a very small minority. For that reason it's very important that engineers, scientists and others in the STEM fields, along with the rest of society acknowledge and respect all categories of workers. Whether you're a janitor, a plumber, a mechanical engineer, or even an astrophysicist, you're still a contributing member of society and that means your opinion matters.

Construction is planned to finish sometime during 4328 in approximately 6 years.

JONES ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Elizabeth Jones, the leader of the Conservative Party of Hutori, has announced that she will be retiring from politics. Until a new leader is chosen, Jack King will act as the interim leader of the party. An emotional Jones made her announcement at the Westin Hotel in downtown Acton yesterday.

"This has not been an easy decision to make. After more than 30 years in politics, it is time to retire. I want to thank all of my colleagues from both the PC and Conservative parties as well as all of the Constituents that I have represented over the years. I am very grateful to have been able to be the first finance minister in the Kingdom of Hutori and hold that position for 18 years. I am also very grateful to have served as leader of this great party for more than 11 years. It takes a lot to be a politician, a lot is expected of you and it is far from your typical 9-5 job. With that being said I wouldn't want to have done anything else over the last 30 years. Serving the people of Hutori has always been one of the things that I take the most pride in."

Jones will be remembered as a hardworking leader who always fought for what she believed in. She will also go down as the longest serving leader in the party's history, serving for more than 11 years. A leadership race will take place and a new leader will be selected well in time for the next election.
