Mitchell: "There is fertile ground for the PSP"

Image
PSP Governmental and Parliamentary Affairs Spokeman Tom Mitchell

BEKENIAL - A new political party is rising on the Hutori political scene, the self-described social democratic Progressive Socialist Party, founded over a year ago is now gaining traction.

This young party is currently the most left-wing out of all current political parties on the national stage. Many of it's supporters cite PSP's young, passionate leadership as one of the reasons attracting them to the party.

Yesterday in an interview one of PSP's young faces, the Governmental and Parliamentary Affairs Spokeman Tom Mitchell, expressed his optimism when it comes to his party's performance in the future, saying:

I think there is a lot of fertile ground for the PKP to thrive. We have a lot of right wing or centrist politicians and parties in Hutori, but there is a gap on the left that we hope to fill with our policies and ideals.
We are not here to gain power for the sake of having power. We want to make real changes and I think that that resonates with many people in our country, even those who were not invested in Hutori's political life before.
We certainly hope that those people will get further involved into politics - and some already have done just that. We have numerous activists and politicians working for our country and party.
Of course not everyone is interested in being a politician, but we hope to inspire people who currently feel disenfranchised to at least vote.

NEW ERA FOR CENTRIST PARTY

The Centrist Party of Hutori is going under a new name these days. They have gone back to their conservative roots that won them a large number of seats in Adelia in their first election. They will now be known as the Conservative Party of Hutori. The party won 36 seats in Adelia in its first election, the most of any party in the 4302 election. That was thanks to some very conservative views of the party leadership. The party wanted to grow around the nation so they became the Centrists to try to earn more votes in other provinces and while that did help them gain seats around the country, their seat number dropped from 36 to 17 in the last election.

Image
Adelia is our "home base" so to speak. We feel that we need to earn back the respect of voters there and really take a stronghold in Adelia. Going back to our conservative roots will help us get those votes back.
- Riley Hill (Conservative Leader)

Many wonder how this will affect their seat numbers around the rest of Hutori come the next election. It would seem that the Conservatives are solely focused on winning over Adelia before moving on to the rest of the country.

Princess Sarah on Tour in Vanuku

Image
Crown Princess Sarah at a reception at the Hutorian Embassy in Vanuku

Heir to the throne, Crown Princess Sarah, the Princess of Adelia, has reportedly began an international tour of various monarchies throughout Terra.

In Terra today, Monachies are the exception not the rule, and it ever more important to find tradition and unity within other countries that believe in the stability of Monarchies. We will of course continue to respect and be close allies with Republics and other nations, but the bond between Terra Monarchies is today more important today then ever.

Crown Princess Sarah is the eldest child and only daughter of Hutorian King Charles I and actively serves with the Royal Hutorian Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. She is currently unmarried though its known several other royal and noble families have approached both her and the King about marrying her. A spokesperson has stated that the Royal Family chose Vanuku as their first stop chiefly for their long support of the Family itself. When Adelia had become a semi-autonomous region within Hutori Vanuku had stepped up first and upgraded the Vanuku Consulate in Acton to full Embassy Status, recognizing the Kingdom of Adelia has a full nation outright. The Steuart Family and the House of Banmek-Sntazed have maintained increasingly close ties ever since with the second son of King Temrkai, Prince Pawl, having met Princess Sarah when she arrived in Vanuku on the first day of her tour.

General Gray Resigns

Image

After over a decade as Hutori's top military commander, General Adrian Grey, the Chief of the Defence Staff, has announced he will be retiring from his position and from the Hutorian Air Force. General Grey has presided over the longest stint of growth within the Hutorian Armed Forces in decades, fully committed to the Donovan Doctrine, established by his immediate predecessor, General Bailey Donovan, which pushed constant training and drills into Hutorian military doctrine and has overseen the constant combat deployment of the Hutorian Second Fleet during the entirety of the Wolfsheim Crisis in Dovani. General Grey has been honoured by His Majesty King Charles I with a knighthood as Sir Adrian Grey and making him a Knight Companion of the Order of the Golden Lion for "long service and commitment to the security and protection of our nation."

Minister of Defence Aaron Graham, has stated that Grey's successor will be the Royal Army's Chief of Staff, General Jennifers Tipps, who takes over as Chief of Defence Staff. General Tipps is a lifelong combat officer who was appointed to the Army's highest commands during the Donovan's era, moving from command of the 7th Mountain Infantry Division, who served prior also as Commander of the 17th Mountain Infantry Regiment. General Tipps has promised to continue on the path that General Donovan and Grey has set out before.

SMALL BUSINESSES IN KENAI OUTRAGED OVER NEW CORPTAX ACT

During a recent tour across Hutori, the Conservative Party leader, Riley Hill, spent a lot of time in Kenai speaking to small business owners about the new CorpTax Act that was recently passed in the House of Parliament. Many are outraged as small businesses were not exempt from this tax that was pushed as a way of making large corporations pay taxes. One small business owner has this to say

"Our small businesses have been able to thrive and contribute greatly to the Hutorian economy by creating more jobs and providing quality goods and services to the people of this country. Now we are going to have to cut back expenses because of this money grab from the federal government and it will have a very negative impact on our businesses."

The Conservative and Royalist parties have been very vocal about their opposition to this new tax. The Conservatives would be in favour of a corporate tax, but at a much lower rate and with small businesses being exempt, while the Royalists are completely against corporate tax all together.

Image
"Our party would be in favour of a corporate tax. That being said 20% is just too high. Given the opportunity, our party would change this tax to 5%
and give small businesses an exemption. This means that corporations would be paying tax and contributing to the country, while not having to pay too much and hurt their business. It would also allow small businesses to remain exempt from federal tax and be able to remain competitive."

Behind the Atarxian Confederation, the Practical party currently holds the most seats in Kenai. With this new tax outraging the majority of small business owners in Kenai, that large number of seats could be in jeopardy since it was the Practical party who introduced the bill.

Small business owners have made it clear, they will not vote for a party who supports this unfair tax on them.

Steuart House Confirms Double Engagement

In an unexpected but happy coincidence Steaurt house has confirmed that both Crown Princess Sarah, the Princess of Adelia and Prince Kyle, the Grand Duke of Kenai are both engaged to potentional spouses as confirmed by their own noble houses. Prince Kyle is said to be engaged to Yodette von Thaller of Narikton, of the famed or infamous von Thaller family, a royal family with connections across Terra to almost every noble family in the world. Prince Kyle and Yodette met during her visit to Hutori in her duties as her nation's Foreign Minister, and have remained incredibly close ever since. The rumor circulating around Princess Sarah on the other hand, of her connection to the second son of Vanuku King Temrkai, Prince Pawl, were confirmed by a spokesperson for the Princess, following the completion of her Royal Tour, where she both started and ended in Wiel.

The Royal Marriage of Princess Sarah and Prince Pawl is said to be waiting on King Temrkai's acceptance of the marriage while King Charles I, has confirmed to have been "delighted" to hear of the coming nuptials of his eldest child. Prince Pawl has been honoured by being named the Earl of Mission, and being inducted into the Hutorian nobility. The marriage between Prince Kyle and Yodette von Thaller is said to only be delayed while awaiting word from the head of the Thaller family and for the return of Prince Kyle, who is currently on a classified military deployment with the Hutorian Air Force, in which he serves as a Major.

Royal Cabinet Ministers Arrived in Skalm

Image
Minister of Defence Aaron Graham flanked by Foreign Affairs Minister Patrick Woodbury at a press conference in Skalm

Both Royalist members of the Green Government have arrived in Skalm earlier this month, along with the advance elements of the Hutorian Armed Forces that are massing in Kazullia ahead of an expected intervention into Hulstria and Ostland. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chancellor Patrick Woodbury and Minister of Defence Aaron Graham, are said to be in town to be coordinating the arrival of Hutorian forces within Kazullia itself, and coordinating allies throughout Dovani on behalf of the Hutorian Government.

The Hutorian 1st Armoured Division arrived with the mythic 6th Airborne Division already with further combat forces en route. Its expected that in total the Hutorian will have organized over 100,000 combat troops for expected operations against Hulstria and occupied Ostland. Hutorian Combat Aircraft have already been seen in the skies above Kazullia, patrolling near Hulstrian and Ostland airspace in joint patrols with the Kazullian Royal Air Force, showing the level of team work and cooperation between the two northern allies.

In a press conference at the Hutorian Embassy in Skalm Defence Minister Graham stated. "Not since the Great Terran War have Hutorian soldiers, sailors and airpersons been deployed in the numbers that they are and ready for war as they are now. We are united, we are strong, and the Nimitz regime will not last long after the point the first hammer falls."

Hutori Finalzies Deployment in Kazullia

Image
Elements of the 7th Mountain Division near the Hulstrian border

Hutorian Joint Operations Command has confirmed that initial deployments to Kazullia have been finalized, with the ultimate deployment of over 140,000 troops, including two of Hutori's powerful Armoured Divisions, and five additional Divisions such as the 6th Airborne Division, 7th Mountain Division and the 14th Infantry Division. A missive from Defence Minister Aaron Graham has confirmed 3rd Armoured Division's commander Major General Paul Driscol has been promoted to full General and made overall commander of Hutorian Expeditionary Force Dovani.

Image
General Driscol

General Driscol's appointment to 4 Star rank marks the first time since the Great Terran War that an officer not appointed to the Defence Staff has been given the Army's highest rank. For further coordination Keith MacMaster, commander of the 5th Fighter Wing has been promoted to Lieutenant General and given command of all Hutorian Air Forces while Vice Admiral Amelia Shaw has been confirmed as commander of all Hutorian Naval forces.

Hutori rarely gives "combat promotions" to Officers highlighting the seriousness that Hutori is taking with the situation. Combat Air Patrols have been seen endless longing Hulstrian and Ostland perimeter radar, staying clear out of interception range, but reinforcing the point that the Hutori controls the skies to the west and north of the nation.

The Hutorian Royal Army has almost 120,000 troops entrenched on the border with Hulstria and Ostland, joined by combat forces from Kazullia ready to pounce the moment they are left off their leash with General Driscol staying he was awaiting the arrival of Malivian, Baltusian and Dorvische forces to round out his force. It's highly expected that supreme command of the operation in the north is to be handed to the veteran Hutorian officer.

FORMER PC CABINET MINISTER JOINS CONSERVATIVE PARTY, REPLACES RETIRING HOUSTON

Image

Former Progressive Conservative finance minister Elizabeth Jones has announced she will be joining the Conservative Party of Hutori after the PC party dissolved shortly after the last election which saw them lose over 30 seats. Jones is excited to continue her political career with the Conservatives.

While I was disappointed to see my party be dissolved, I am excited to start a new chapter in my political career and to get back to serving the people of Hutori.

Houston Announces Retirement
Image

Former Conservative Party leader Jim Houston has announced his retirement from politics. Houston started off as the party's finance critic from the time the party was founded in September of 4298. Shortly before the party contested its first election, Houston was elected leader of the party. He served as leader through 2 elections, the first in 4202, the second in 4306. He took over as leader in November of 4301, and was replaced in May of 4306, serving for 4 1/2 years. After stepping down as leader he returned to his role as finance critic for another 4 years. Houston was very popular within the party, having led them through their first 2 elections and getting them 56 seats in the House of Parliament. Current leader Riley Hill, who served as house leader under Houston had nothing but praise for Houston and his successor, former PC finance minister, Elizabeth Jones.

Today the Conservative Party is saddened to have to say goodbye to our former leader, Jim Houston. He lead our party through its first 2 elections and earned us 56 seats in parliament. He built strong relationships with many people across Hutori. While we are sad to see Jim go, we are also excited to announce that his replacement as finance critic is none other than former PC finance minister, Elizabeth Jones. We are excited to have Elizabeth as a member of our party.

JONES TO RETURN TO PARLIAMENT AFTER WINNING BY-ELECTION IN GLENTINGHAM EAST

After the retirement of Jim Houston, a by-election was held in Glentingham East to replace him. The seat was won by Houston's finance critic replacement, Elizabeth Jones. She will return to parliament as a Conservative Party MP.

LONGEST SERVING CONSERVATIVE LEADER, HILL, GIVEN VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FROM PARTY MEMBERS

Image

The Conservative Party of Hutori recently held its Annual General Meeting where party members were asked to vote on whether they would like to keep Riley Hill, the party's longest serving leader, on through the next election in 4314. The result was a resounding 92% in favor of Hill keeping the job. Many party members believe Hill will become the first Chancellor the party has ever had. He is very popular among the membership and is gaining popularity outside of the party as well. Conservative MPs also seem very happy to keep Hill on board as their leader.

He has been an outstanding leader and I am very excited to continue to work with Riley to grow this party. He welcomed me with open arms when the PC party was dissolved and I am grateful that he had the confidence in me to allow me to continue in my role as finance minister.
~ Elizabeth Jones (Conservative MP and Finance Minister)

Riley has been an outstanding leader for us and we are very excited to continue growing the party under his leadership
~ James Baillie (Conservative House Leader)

In December of last year, Hill surpassed Jim Houston's record of 4 years, 6 months as Conservative leader. He has now served as leader for 5 years, 6 months and will be leader until at least the next election where he will reach his 8 year mark as leader.
