Shaw Says Conservatives Will Sit In Opposition Unless SNP Withdraws Support for Republic

Royal Conservative Party leader, and current Prime Minister, Tristan Shaw announced today that his party will only continue their coalition government with the Sutton Nationalist Party if they agree to vote against the abolition of the Hutorian Monarchy. If the SNP does not agree to this, Shaw says his party will accept defeat in the election, and sit in opposition. If this were to happen, it would be the first time since 4446 that Hutori had a government that did not include the Royal Conservatives (formerly known as the Royalist Party).

Shaw looks on, clearly frustrated, while Sutton Nationalist members vote in favour of a republican bill that failed.

Shaw was available for an interview after his announcement and this is what he had to say:

"We have worked alongside the Sutton Nationalist Party in their fight to become officially recognized as a crown dependency of our nation. Now they repay us by voting to abolish the Hutorian Monarchy. This is a complete stab in the back, and unless they have a change of heart, we cannot work alongside them anymore. We will happily sit in opposition and fight whoever forms the next government at every turn to ensure the preservation of the monarchy."

After Successful Snap Election, Shaw Calls it a Career

Image
Shaw waves goodbye to his supporters after announcing his retirement.

After 13 years as Conservative Leader, and 10 years as Prime Minister, Tristan Shaw announced he would be retiring from politics. Shaw, who served on the government benches for his entire career, calls it quits after leading his party into a position where the monarchy is safe, and is likely to hold onto power, should the Free Democrats and Justice Party agree to join their cabinet. Shaw spoke to thousands of supporters after the results of the election for his successor were announced.

"I am confident that as I move on to life after politics, this party is in an incredible place. While we may not hold the most seats, we have worked well with our allies who have fought with us against the republican reforms being pushed by the Ultrackian Socialists, and have put ourselves in a position where the monarchy is safe, and we are poised to hold onto government. We couldn't have done it without the grassroots members of this party who worked day-in day-out to get their candidates elected. I cannot thank you all enough. The future is bright for not only this party, but for all Hutorians!"

Taylor Elected to Tory Top Job

Steve Taylor celebrates his election as the new leader of the Royal Conservative Party

The man who served under Tristan Shaw as Minister of Finance for the last 6 years, Steve Taylor has earned a promotion to the party's top job. Shortly after it was announced that Shaw would be retiring, 3 candidates announced they would be seeking the leadership. Taylor was challenged by longtime Tory frontbencher Tyler Cameron, and rookie MP Jacob Gardiner. Taylor won in the first round of voting with 56% of the vote.

Before politics, Taylor had an extensive business career. Having started his own company at the age of 19, he would sell it 10 years later for more than 10 million Lira. After that, he went on to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of Gold Lion Capital, a position once held by the late Chancellor Brett Martin. Taylor takes over with the party in a great position. It is now able to block a constitutional amendment to reform Hutori into a republic, and Taylor is likely to become the next Prime Minister.

Taylor Ready To Lead With Early Election Looming

Its been 2 years since the last election, and parliament has been unable to appoint a new cabinet. With 18 vacant seats, and the split of the SNP and Labour parties, an early election has been called for and is likely to happen next month. Tory leader Steve Taylor says his party is ready to govern, and will look for similar minded leaders to form a cabinet with after the elections are finished.

Image
Conservative leader Steve Taylor sits down with HBC to talk about the looming early election

Q:
" With parliament unable to form a government, and an early election looming, what do you have to say to the Hutorian people?"

A:
"Hutori has been without a government for the last 2 years. It is about time we had strong leadership. I am ready to work across party lines to ensure Hutori has a strong, competent government for the people."

Q:
"While the Ultrackian Socialists and the SNP/Labour Party formed a majority together after the last election, what does it say about them that they were unable to form a coalition?"

A:
"Frankly what we have seen in parliament has shown me that the Sutton Nationalists have finally come to their senses. The Labour Party and the Ultrackian Socialists have proven time and again they are unfit to govern this country and I believe that the SNP has finally awoke to that. I am very much open to working with the SNP and any other party that believes in common sense governance."

Q:
"One last question Mr. Taylor. You say that the Ultrackian Socialists and the Labour Party are unfit to govern. What makes your party more fit to govern than they are in your opinion?"

A:
"There are many reasons why I believe we are more fit to govern this great country. Firstly, we believe in lower taxes, Hutorians deserve to decide for themselves what to do with their hard earned money. Secondly, Conservatives have governed Hutori for a large part of this century. Hutori has been at its best both in terms of the economy, and the overall quality of life for the people during our governments. We want Hutori to be a leader on Terra, and only Conservatives have been able to provide the leadership required for that. I could get into many more reasons, but I will save those for the campaign trail."

A Message to the People of Sutton From the Prime Minister

"People of Sutton, ever since the rise of nationalism on the Isle, the Conservative Party has fully supported the call for greater Sutton autonomy. Suttonites want to be governed by fellow Suttonites, not Bekenial. We understand that, and have always supported it.

For years, the Sutton Nationalist Party allied with the Ultrackian Socialists and failed you. They failed to secure the federal transfer payments promised to you in the Crown Dependency Treaty. They failed to secure desperately needed infrastructure projects.

When the SNP agreed to join our cabinet, we thought they were finally going to put Sutton first. They brought up the point that the transfer payments promised to you were not being made. We proposed a budget to fix that. Unfortunately, the bill failed due to the Liberal National Party not showing up to vote on it. They said they would give us another chance, which we promised would come after the election, and we were ready to fulfill that promise. We proposed a new cabinet, switching out the LNP for the People's Party. We knew that the PPH would show up to vote for our budget and Sutton would finally get what was promised to them. But that wasn't good enough for the SNP.

The Sutton Nationalist Party has proven again that they do not actually care about the people they claim to represent. They care about holding power over all of Hutori, and supporting extremist parties like the USPH.

We will no longer work with the SNP until they show us that they care about the people they represent. Should a new party, which actually has the best interests of Suttonites in mind, come forward, we would be willing to support them."

To Sovereign People of Sutton and the Commonwealth

Postby Sovak111 » Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:12 am

Message to the People of Sutton From the Prime Minister

My Fellow Suttonites and Commonwealth Citizens,

One of the great hallmarks of our democratic process is that when people are dissatisfied with government, they can change it. You, the people, saw fit to do that in this past election, rewarding the Sutton Nationalist Party, the Labour Party, and the Ultrackian Socialists with your vote. You saw right through the stunt of the former occupant of this office. You understood that it was not the failure of the SNP to secure what Sutton is owed as part of the Crown Dependency treaty. For your continued support, I thank you.

You voted for a functioning government. Therefore, the SNP has again decided to caucus with the Labour Party. Our caucus has asked the USPH to join in our governing coalition. The USPH has agreed. We look forward to getting to the business of governing these great nations.

Today is a new day in Sutton and in the Commonwealth. For the first time ever, an SNP politician will take on leadership of the Commonwealth. Know that as PM, I will do all I can to support the people of both the Commonwealth and the Crown Dependency. Those on the mainland should not be worried at the sight of an Islander in Bekenial. I promise I will faithfully uphold the office held by the many great men and women who came before me.

Thank you all for putting your trust in me.

~ Andrew Macalester
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth

Taylor Announces Hutori First Platform

Image
Hutori First leader Steve Taylor unveils the Hutori First Party's platform before thousands of supporters.

Today Hutori First Party leader Steve Taylor held a rally in Acton to announce the Party's official platform for the 4488 election. Thousands packed the room to hear an impassioned speech from the former Prime Minister who looks to return to Hutori's top job.

Taylor's speech included many of the policies laid out in the platform, which we have included below.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OUR PLAN TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE

Securing Our Borders
- A Hutori First government will ensure that the safety and security of our nation and its citizens is a top priority. That is why our party is proposing imposing strict border security to ensure no dangerous people, who threaten the safety of Hutorians, are allowed to enter our nation.
- We will put an end to the parade to the refugee claims office by setting in place criteria for who is a legitimate refugee and who is not.

Putting Hutorians First In International Trade Deals
- Our party has already succesfully pulled Hutori out of multiple "free trade" deals that did not benefit our nation. A Hutori First government will work on new trade deals with our key allies and will ensure Hutorians get a good deal.

Strengthening Our Defense
- A Hutori First government will privatize all defense industries, and to keep Hutori safe, we will change Hutori's arms sales policy so that only our most trusted allies are allowed to purchase Hutorian arms.
- Our party will remove the uneccessary restrictions on what our military can and cannot do. The Hutorian Armed Forces are supposed to protect our nation, but for far too long government has impeded their abilities.

Our Plan For The Isle of Sutton
- A Hutori First government will ensure that Sutton has the ability to become almost entirely self-sustaining when it comes to their budget. Under the SNP-Labour-USPH coalition, Hutorian taxpayers are sending 30 billion Lira per year to the Isle of Sutton. This is unacceptable. Our party will work with Suttonites to strengthen the Isle's economy and ensure that Sutton's government can properly sustain itself without a massive burden on Hutorian taxpayers.

Strengthening Our Economy
- If elected, we will immediately repeal articles 1 and 2 of the USPH Caucus Bill of 4485. This means that we will once again make the Central Bank an entirely independent agency, free from political influence, and once again privatize national banks.
- We will immediately ban Closed Shops, Union Shops and Agency Shops so that people are no longer forced to chose between becoming a member of a union they do not support, and being unemployed.
- A Hutori First government will eliminate the corporate tax, creating a more competitive market and attracting businesses to Hutori. Having no corporate tax will result in lower prices on everyday essentials and more jobs.

Our Vision For The Budget:
- Under the SNP-Labour-USPH coalition, Hutori is
spending over 569 billion Lira per year. We will immediately reduce government spending by 100 billion Lira. We will do that by cutting back on wasteful spending and reducing the number of crown corporations.
Along with that massive reduction in spending, a Hutori First government will reduce the luxury goods tax, and lower income tax for the Middle Class and those working hard to get there.

SNP and Labour announce permanent partnership, vision

Postby Sovak111 » Mon Nov 19, 2018 2:24 pm

Prime Minister Andrew Macalester addresses the crowd at the SNP-Labour Party Conference

SUTTON - Prime Minister Andrew Macalester today announced the Labour-SNP Coalition's platform for the 4488 Election, which included a permanent partnership between the Labour Party and SNP and a bold vision for the future. The SNP-Labour Leader hopes to keep his job after a whirlwind Parliamentary session that saw more bills proposed and passed than any time in recent memory. Said the former Foreign Minister and Crown Dependency Grand Representative:

We will continue to fight for a kinder, fairer Hutori and a free and independent Sutton. Our partners in the Labour Party and among the Socialists have given Sutton a fighting chance on the world stage and we have delivered on our promises to improve healthcare, make pharmaceutical drugs at no cost to the consumer, and provide for the common defense of the Crown Dependency and the Commonwealth. I couldn't be prouder of what we've managed to achieve and I hope you all will get out the vote in this election. There is still work to be done!

The most surprising revelations of the night include an SNP-Labour permanent partnership and that the Prime Minister signaled a willingness to renegotiate the Crown Dependency Treaty.

"Labour have been good partners for the SNP, with Labour's Commonwealth-wide reach and the SNP's record of winning elections we believe we can accomplish much, much more - including renegotiating the Crown Dependency treaty.

The fact that Macalester, the author of the Crown Dependency treaty and lifelong SNP leader, was willing to both compromise on the terms of the treaty and ally with the Labour Party has ruffled the feathers of much of his party. Some SNP stalwarts argue that Macalester has sold out the party for the sake of winning more votes. Should the SNP-Labour Coalition fail to secure a position in government next term, it is likely some in the SNP will call into question Macalester's leadership of the party.

"THE SOCIALISTS HAVE BEEN DEFEATED!" ~Taylor

Image
Hutori First Leader Steve Taylor celebrates election night results with supporters.

Although the Hutori First Party lost 16 seats on election night, former (and possibly soon to be) Prime Minister, and leader of the party, Steve Taylor was in a celebratory mood. While his party may have lost seats, his political allies had gained seats, and it was enough to take back a majority from the USPH-Labour-SNP coalition. Centre-Right to Right-Wing parties now hold 117 of the 205 seats in parliament. As soon as the house was called back, Taylor proposed a cabinet coalition between his party, the People's Party, the Liberal Party and the National Party, which would be led by himself as Prime Minister. Taylor was in full on celebration mode as he addressed his supporters on election night.

"Tonight begins a new chapter in the great history of our nation. While we have lost some great Hutori First MPs, our friends in the PPH, LPH and the National Party all gained seats. Hutorians overwhelmingly rejected socialism tonight, and now ourselves and our allies have a majority. We will form a government that is for the people and puts Hutori first! I look forward to working with the leaders of the PPH, LPH and the NP to build a strong government and getting to work on cleaning up the mess of the USPH-Labour-SNP coalition! THE SOCIALISTS HAVE BEEN DEFEATED!"

Zack Bernier Celebrates a Successful 4488 Election
Image
PPH Leader Zack Bernier at a post-election press conference in PPH HQ in Adelia

This evening, Zack Bernier, Leader of the PPH celebrated the 4488 election results with a large turnout at PPH Election HQ in Adelia. Though only gaining 2 seats in Parliament, he vowed that he would work in complete cooperation with his fellow right-wing parties, to deal with the Sutton-USPH-Labour coalition and to potentially overshadow it with a majority takeover coalition!

We all share the same values, you know, the Leader of the NP reached out to me initially with the idea of a coalition and I saw that we shared similar values. The same can be said with the HFP. We all agree to put Hutori FIRST!
