Hello and welcome back to Bekenial FM 105.7, we are now joined by the Hutorian Prime Minister Mark Owens, who now presides over the only political party in Hutori. Mr Owens, with the recent closure of the Imperial Democrats and the Labour Party - only the Hutorian Conservative Party remains....what do you make of the whole situation?
Well, it is an unfortunate situation...Hutori is a democratic state but we cannot force people to participate. If they choose to remain outside of the democratic process then there is not much we can do.
Moving on to an issue that the government has been surprisingly quiet about. The current situation on the global stage where we have seen the conference of Terra Republics, the Majatran Union, the Likatonian and Darnussian situations. What is your assessment of the whole situation?
It is an unprecedented time of worldwide instability. We have the Majatran Union making movements against the state of Luthori - which i must condemn. Hutori and Luthori have become close allies, with our Queen married to a Luthorian Prince. The Majatran Union may have the right to govern over the states which its Treaty applies to...but outside of that i can safely say that this is just intimidation on a world-wide scale and i believe there is absolutely no need for any of it. On the Conference of Terra Republics? Hutori was threatened by Gaduridos...for upholding the law in regards to the Ian James scandal. The conference is actively promoting republicanism against states who reject this ideal. It is ludicrous for states like Gaduridos to threaten other states with their version of freedom - it is a total contradiction! They threatened to invade Hutori to free our nation? Pathetic really...and i am glad their Leader Consul Crimson Keiser has finally left office and we can move on from the whole situation.
On Likatonia and Darnussia...well there was a stage when the United Leftist Front was considering sending Hutorian aid/troops to these nations but fortunately we did not get involved in this situation. I can also safely say that no Hutorian Armed Forces will be going anywhere near a conflict that does not have Hutorian interests at its centre.
Yes i must concur, Hutori historically favours staying neutral. So with your party now the only electoral party in Hutori and having total control over the House of Parliament...what will you do with your new found position?
Well...safe to say the party will sit down and discuss what direction we want to take Hutori. I will allow any HCP member the chance to air concerns, propose policies and make suggestions. I believe that we must maintain some form of party democracy in order to protect what little democracy is left in Hutori - at least until new movements emerge, and im sure it is just a matter of time. There is an election soon and we are the only candidates so we will have five years to assess and make reforms as we look to move Hutori foward.
Well....very interesting stuff there. This concludes our interview with the Prime Minister and now its time to sit back, relax and enjoy some music from Hutori's latest best-selling artist.
