Launch of the Artemis Space Shuttle from Shepard Space Centre in Falristan neat Carter City

The Kingdom of Hutori has officially put a person into space with the launching of the Artemis Space Shuttle earlier this month. Air Force Colonel Oscar Timmons and Lieutenant Colonel Veronica Rogers are the first Hutorians to be put into space.

Minister of Space and Technology Beth MacKenzie joined SERA's Executive Director, Hector Zwicker at SERA's Shepard Space Centre to watch the successful launch.

Beth MacKenzie, Minister of Science & Technology wrote:The Launching of the Artemis is the successful culmination of six years of tireless work by our experts here at SERA and our partners at Horizon Technology Corporation who designed the Artemis based on our own Satanil-IV Rockets. However this is but Phase One and we are just getting started. We have officially begun a new Age of Space for Terra!

The Artemis Space Shuttle Was designed by Horizon Technology Corporation, which provides the Hutorian Armed Forces with its ICBMs and multiple variants of Fighter Aircraft. The Hutorian Government spent nearly 30 Billion Lira Annually on SERA's Space Exploration Program under Project Lunar Arrow, and with the success of the Artemis Rocket it's expected that budget will not be going down anytime.

Liberal National Party Elects New Leader
Image
Savannah Anderson in her new office as Leader of the Liberal National Party

Following the disappointing result of the August 4334 election for the Liberal National Party, which saw its representation plummet to only 29 seats, a loss of 35, the leader of the Liberal National Party has decided it is best to retire from the party leadership. In a press release Mrs Kennedy said
... while I have enjoyed the past five years as being the inaugural leader of the Liberal National Party, it is clear that it is time for new leadership, with that I will be stepping down as Leader of the LNP as well as my deputy Oscar Cunningham who has done a great job at raising the public profile of the party"
For now, it is understood that Mrs Kennedy will remain as a member of parliament, however questions already loom as to whether she plans to retire.

Following this development the Liberal National Party executive voted Savannah Anderson as their new Leader of the Liberal National Party with Zachary Cook, the current Minister for Interior Affairs being elected as Deputy Leader. While Ms Anderson declined to comment what her plans were in regard to being apart of any cabinet, she did state that the party had learnt from its mistakes and looked forward to building the party for a strong result next election.

Socialist Workers Party becomes second largest party in the House of Parliament
With a net gain of 68 seats in the August 4334, the Socialist Workers Party has become the second-largest party in the House of Parliament. It has been the first time in a while that a radical leftist and Metzist party has held significant amount of seats. The SWP has agreed to be a junior member of a coalition government that is headed by the left-leaning New National Progress Party.

Image

During a recent party conference, Party Leader Alexandra "Alex" Stone said

In its second ever election, the party now has 118 seats in the Hutori Parliament. It's a welcoming result that shows that the Hutori public is seeking an alternative to capitalism. While we've agreed to work with a coalition government with the Royalists and the New National Progress Party, they are more critical of the so-called "free market" then the Conservatives. However, in spite of our alliance, we continue to support republicanism, and will oppose measures that will uphold the archaic monarchy...

The party also released this public statement

The recent election proved that the Hutori public is tired of free market capitalism, and its ability to wreck havoc on working people. We, the SWP, will be willing to work with the NNPP and the Royal Liberal Party to help the common person. However, we will continue our independence and will vote against the NNPP and the RLP if necessary. We will oppose any kinds of austerity measures. We will also continue to support the creation of a republican and socialist Hutori. Our party will not rest until the path to a socialist Hutori is complete.

Interview with the new Chancellor of Hutori Jeffrey Burgole

Last october, Jeffrey Burgole became, at the age of of 27 years old, one of the yougest Chancellor in the history of the Kingdom of Hutori. Now that he has successfully formed a government with the Royal Liberal Party of Hutori and the Socialist Worker Party, he will have the next four years to rule over Hutori and show to everyone what he is capable of. Our team wanted to meet with him to know what is his plan for the next four years.

here's our complete interview:

Q:During the last election, your party had a pretty good result. You had the best result with nearly 168 seats. What is your overall feeling on this election?

A: Well, of course I am extremely grateful toward such a large portion of the population to gave us their trust. It's a honor for us to represent the hutorian population in the house of parliament and to work everyday to try to make our coutry a better place to live for everyone. However, I know that there is a large percent of the population that truly despise us and during the last election there is only 48% of the population that has voted so we will be walking on eggs for the next four years.I will try to stay aware of this at all time and we will make a effort to be the least divisive.

Q: Now that you have successfully formed government, what is your plan for the next four years?

A: As I said earlier, we know that there is still a large portion of the population that truly hate us so we will try, the best we can, to be the government of everyone not just the ones who voted for us. I want to do the work slowly but correctly. I want my government to be a thoughtful one, we will analyze every possibility and we will find what are the best solutions for every hutorian. For now, our goals is to protect democracy and to extend civil rights of our population while making the government more efficient. I am eager to work with every party, even the ones that are not in our coalition, to achieve these goals.

Q: When creating your government, you have decided to make a coalition with both the SWP and the RLPH. My question is: why does such a hardaly republican party like the NNPP have decided to work with a royalist party like the Royal Liberal Party of Hutori? Don't you think it's a bit odd to have you both on the same government?

A: You know, it doesn't really bother me to work with royalist people. That's just how Hutori is, some people believe in a kingdom others believe in a republic, that doesn't mean we can't work together. At first, it wasn't my plan to add the royalist to my coalition but I change my mind because I believe that there is some truly competent people in that party that deserve to be in the government. Like the Miniter of Defence Eric Forrest or the Minister of Science and Technology Beth MacKenzie, these are two really good minister that I am pround to have on my side.

Q: Recently, the Royal Liberal Party of Hutori have proposed a new bill to change the constition and create the 'Imperial Commonwealth''. What is the opinion of the NNPP on that new bill?'

A:I have no comment on that. My team and I will look into this bill and we will see what we intend to do about it. I am sorry, but right now I can't yet provide you with any clear answer.

Acton Fibre Project Underway

Postby TheCollectivist » Fri Jan 19, 2018 9:25 pm

November 4335

Image: Construction crews install fibre optic cables in the outskirts of the City of Acton.

The Acton Fibre Project was approved in July 4335 by the national government; it had received prior approval from Mayor Oliver King. After several months of planning, construction is now underway. The project was initiated by the Ataraxian Confederation, which hoped to fund the installation of a 1 Gbit/s FTTP (fibre to the premises) Internet service throughout the City of Acton and connect it to the Commune of Ataraxia. Ownership of the infrastructure is under the control of the city. The Ataraxians invested $3 billion HLR to cover the capital costs involved. Some rural customers will also have access to the service, although this coverage is expected to be expanded in the future.

The funding for the project was gathered among the 65 Ataraxian communes. According to the Ataraxians, they consider the project of mutual benefit as they run a data centre in the Commune of Ataraxia and plan to expand their information technology sector in the future. Having more Adelians have access to faster speeds will benefit both the Ataraxian information economy and the Adelian economy they claim. The project is officially under the Ataraxian Benevolence Project, which hopes to maintain good relations with Hutori and the Ataraxian Confederation, especially after their controversial majority several years ago.

In addition to covering the capital costs, the Ataraxians also assisted with the planning for the project. Telecoms engineer Pete Thompsett (Organizer of the Telecoms Engineering Cooperative of the Commune of Ataraxia) led a team of Ataraxian engineers to assist with the project's planning. Construction is being conducted by private contractors with government supervision and is expected to be completed in 4337.

First President of the Commonwealth of Hutori Election - Former Liberal National Leader Alexandra Kennedy

Image

It was all smiles in the Liberal National Party HQ after the early June election which saw the former Leader of the Liberal National Party, Alexandra Kennedy, elected 1st President of the Commonwealth of Hutori. While many expected the incumbent leader Savannah Anderson to make the bid for Presidency, it is believed that he grassroots party members wanted their initial leader to take the stand due to her popularity. Current leader Savannah Anderson said in an interview not long after results were received
I am very very pleased with the result tonight, not only have we seen the Liberal National Party regain all of its seats we lost in the previous election, but we have also grown to become the third largest party in Hutori. While many have asked why I did not run for Presidency, I enjoy being the Parliamentary Leader of the Liberal National Party, and furthermore I believe with me in the parliament, rather than as President, the Liberal National Party will continue to grow. Mrs Kennedy did a tremendous job as Leader of the LNP as will she as our President. Who knows,
maybe one day I will run for President, but there is much work to be done before that ever happens.

Mrs Kennedy has expressed her congratulations to Ms Anderson for her efforts at growing the Liberal National Party
.. honestly Ms Anderson has defied expectations, she has done a tremendous job as party leader and I couldn't think of anyone more qualified to be party leader.

The City of Acton has officially launched Acton Fibre, a 1 Gbit/s FTTP (fibre to the premises) Internet service available to Acton residents, nearby rural residences, and the Commune of Ataraxia. The installation was funded by the Ataraxian Confederation for $3 billion HLR under the Acton Fibre Project in November 4335. The Ataraxians hope the service will lead to a stronger information sector for both the Ataraxian and Adelian economy. Telecoms engineer Pete Thompsett of the Commune of Ataraxia helped with the project's planning, which received government supervision during its construction. The Acton Fibre Project is part of the Ataraxian Benevolence Project, a project intended to seek mutual projects for Hutorians and Ataraxians while keeping Ataraxians at a distance from Hutorian politics.

A changing of the guard occurred with the retirement of longtime Defence Chief Admiral Amelia Shaw, the last of the "Hulstrian Guard", the collectively name of the senior Hutorian military leadership that commanded the Hutorian Armed Forces during the Intervention in Hulstria 20 years ago, finally retired. Her successor is the 54 year old General Erika MacDonald, a career Intelligence and Operations Officer.

General Erika MacDonald

General MacDonald and her compatriots in the Hutorian High Command all represent Officers that came through the Armed Forces learning from the "Driscol Military Doctrine" named after General Paul Driscol who served as the ALLIED military Coalitions first Supreme Commander. Joining her at the High Command Compound in Bekenial are Army Chief kf Staff General Peter Darrow, a career Special Forces operator who served with the Special Parachute Assault Detachment Echo (SPADES) the most elite Army special forces unit, on the frontline in Hulstria, Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Ronald Lawerence, a former Naval Aviator who flew HF-35C missions and newly minted Air Force Chief of Staff General Kyle Steuart-Carmichael, the Grand Duke of Kenai and younger brother of Her Imperial Majesty Empress Sarah IV, who flew HB-22 Emancipator Missions.

Conservative Leader Disappointed With Other Cabinet Parties

Image

Now approximately 3 years removed from the last election, the Conservative Party MP and Minister of Finance, Danielle Houston has attempted twice now to pass a new budget to increase healthcare spending in response to the move to create a national healthcare system. On the first attempt, the Progressive Conservative Party abstained from voting, which meant the 303 votes needed to pass were not reached. On the second attempt, the Liberal National Party abstained from voting, again leaving the budget shy of the 303 votes needed to pass. We spoke with the Conservative Leader, and presidential candidate, Barack Olatunji, and he is not pleased with the other parties.

"As parties with representatives in the cabinet, we have a responsibility to work together to get things done. For more than 3 years, we have had to rely on the provinces to fund our national healthcare system that was introduced just before the last election. Ms Houston has been working tirelessly to pass a new budget to increase the federal funding to the healthcare system. On both attempts to pass the new budget, a party that was represented in cabinet failed to vote. It is unacceptable that these parties are failing to do their duties. We have decided to not move forward with another budget proposal until after the next election, should Ms Houston remain Minister of Finance. We hope that the next cabinet is much better at working together to get the important issues dealt with."

With an election slightly over a year away, it is interesting to see how the other parties will respond. The Conservatives are clearly not happy with their coalition allies.

Ataraxians to Run for Presidential Elections

Postby TheCollectivist » Sat Jan 27, 2018 11:21 pm

December 4339

On request of Ataraxian sympathizers, the Ataraxians have announced that they will run for future presidential elections. During the previous two elections, the Ataraxians did not officially field any presidential candidates. 81-year-old Ataraxian Ambassador Lyn Kopp, a structural engineer, is the current candidate.

Ambassador Kopp wrote:Since the president's position is largely ceremonial, we are willing to field candidates for it. That said, we still have no desire to hold cabinet positions or initiate any kind of political reformations not related to the Ataraxian Confederation in Hutori. This move does not represent any notable change in our stance of keeping Hutorian political affairs at a distance.
