Newland Promises an 'Age of Prosperity' for Hutori

The newly appointed Prime Minister of Hutori Andrew Newland has in a statement to the country assured the people that his government will bring a boom in economic growth and national strength on a massive scale, promising that the errors of the last government will be addressed and that the nation will be putting itself first.

The last government left the people of this nation is a situation of stagnation and lacked any sense of national pride or desire for improvement. This administration will look to end that, with the intention to create a true Age of prosperity in our great country. We will help our economy grow, investing in public services and hutorian businesses. We will put our own citizens first, ensuring that they have the best opportunities for their future. We will endeavour to support those abroad that need it most.

A Message From The President

Fellow Hutorians,

Today I announce that I will not be running in the upcoming Presidential election. Having served as your President for 5 terms, I feel the time for my retirement has come.

I am proud to be passing the torch on to our Parliamentary Leader Dylan Jourdain II. He will be running for President this year and I hope he can earn your support.

It has been an amazing ride. I was first elected to serve the people of Isle of Sutton Eastern Shore in 4593. If you had told me 48 years ago that I would one day serve 5 terms as your President, I wouldn't have believed you. This journey has been incredible and I want to thank each and every Hutorian for this opportunity. I'd also like to thank all the Members of Parliament and party leaders I've had the honour of serving alongside, as well as every single party staffer and volunteer who made this all possible. Lastly, I'd like to thank my wife Sherry and my children Jack, Susan and Ethan for always being by my side.

Thank you Hutori.

Sincerely,
Eugene Manning

Large cleanup and reform in the National Progress Party; Leader resign and most council members are replace

After being mostly silent and quite dsitant from most politcal discrouse in Hutori for the last years, the National Progress Part has suprise everyone by anouncing that they would perform huge reform and cleanup within their own ranks. In the first time, the leader of the Party, Lucas Douglass, has resign form his office and most of the member of the leadership council of the party have been replace by younger MP. The former minister of Education and Culture, and one of the few survivor of the cleanup, Martha Davidson have been appointed has the new Chairman of the party. Meanwhile, the party has also announce that would completly reform the position of various issue. They intend to use a newly created internet palteform in order to survey the public opinion and know what policy their supporter would want them to push.

The new chairman explained this reform as such;

''This is a truly eiting moment for our party. After many of sinking into obscurity, the NPP is now ready to completly change our way. We will change entirely our plateform and our image. We will, for the first time in our history, conduct an open election for the position of leader''

When she was ask what these reform could mean for the overall political situation of Hutori, she responded;

''We must face it, out country in a state of complete chaos right now. I really believe that our party has a role to play in stopping this chaos and bring some reason to the parliament. We need to stop the right of political extremisim from all side of the political speectrum
''

When she was asked about the newly form governement:

'' For now, we have accepted to work with NWP and the Consevative in order to form a stable governement. Of course, we share very little idea with both of these parties but if they are willing to negotiate on some things, we are too. It is also very important to note that the core ideas of the National Progress Party are not tradable, if we feel like ou integrity and or beliefs are threatened in this governement, we will leave it.''

Liberal Royalist Party Founded

Image
His Grace the Duke of Groomsbridge, Alexander Woodbury

The most senior Peer in the Commonwealth, the Duke of Groomsbridge, along with the Vice Chairman of Gold Lion Capital, Lord Patrick Carmichael, and a defecting member of the Socialist Front, Lisa Morrison, a Member of Parliament from Axminister, have joined forces to create a new monarchist party in light of the rising sentiments of Republicanism in Hutori.

At a Party launch event at the Woodbury Estate in Groombridge, one of the most affluent suburbs in the Greater Acton Area, His Grace, the Duke of Groomsbridge, unveiled the Party and it's intention to challenge for seats in all five Provinces in the upcoming 4666 Elections and fight back against Republicanism.

The Monarchy has long been one the most stable forms of government that has Hutori has ever known. It has been under Monarchs that Hutori has gone through war, strife and conflict and come out on top. When we flatter into Republicanism we fall into constant political fights over who gets the right to live at 24 Orange Avenue. This needs to stop. The Great Compromise, which gave us our Viceregal form of government has served us well and will continue to serve as well and we, the Liberal Royalists, will continue to defend the Monarchy against those that would tear it down.

At another event, in her home riding of Axminister, Lisa Morrison, the Member of Parliament for Axminister South, announced her intention of leaving the Socialist Front, and joining the Liberal Royalists as their first Member in the House, and will also serve as their Interim Leader until the elections in two years have been complete.

I agreed and still agree with many aspects of the platform. I do not believe in Conservatives cuts, or attempting to slash the government down to size, or attacking our individual human rights. But the Socialists are wrong about the Monarchy. It has offered stability and helped us avoid tyrants unlike when Republicans have had control. I've wrestled with this since I was elected and I'm happy and glad I can officially come out as a Monarchist and defend The Institution that makes our country great.

Hutorian Chief of the Defence Staff Resigns After "Significant Force Reduction Reforms"

Image
Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Keene, Announcing his Immediate Resignation & Retirement

At a press conference at the Department of National Defence Headquarters in Bekenial, General Thomas Keene, Chief of the Defence Staff, announced his immediate resignation as Chief of the Defence Staff, following his completion of needed reforms to the structure of Hutori’s Armed Forces.

“Defence spending in the Commonwealth has for years been shrinking and had for the past several years reached a critical point where we could no longer afford to keep the men and women in uniform that we once did. In addition, the requirement for the Department of National Defence to maintain Crown Corporations to supply us following their nationalization as also hampered our operating budget. Further, our shrinking number of international bases, and Hutori’s general disengagement from international affairs, both diplomatic and military, have meant that we do not require the Armed Forces that we once did.

Subsequently, in light of the mass reduced budget, I have completed a number of reforms over the past several years that have seen the size of our Armed Forces reduced, in all three service branches. This has been one of the most painful experiences in my entire military life, as this as meant I have had to, with the permission of Her Imperial Majesty the Empress, release over 200,000 men and women who faithfully served their country from military service. These reforms, while necessary, are decisions I had hoped I would never have to make. In light of this, as 200,000 men and women have been released from service, I to will be ending my service to my country. I have tendered my resignation and Commission within the Royal Armed Forces to both the Minister of National Defence and Her Imperial Majesty as Supreme Commander in Chief of the Commonwealth’s Armed Forces, a resignation that has been accepted.

Thank you.”

The reduction to the Hutorian Armed Forces were significant; a full five combat Divisions, a full third of Hutori’s standing strength, and half of their reservists were released from service, in addition to four Combat Air Wings of the Royal Hutorian Air Force, including the deactivation of 13th Wing, Hutori’s strategic weapons program, following a former administration’s decision to end the Hutorian nuclear program. The stockpile itself, which has dwindled in intervening years has been surrendered to the Ministry of Science & Technology, an old tactic of the Hutorian Armed Forces when politics forces the military to surrender Hutori’s stockpile of WMDs. Critically as well, over 30 Combat vessels of the Royal Hutorian Navy were decommissioned, while two overseas Fleet Commands, the Fourth and Sixth, that were at Telamon and Keymon respectively, have been deactivated. The decommissioning included two of Hutori’s Graham-class Supercarriers, the HMHS-John Graham, and the HMHS-Empress Mary IV, at one point that were mainstays of Hutorian striking power along with 4 of Hutori’s advanced Sentinel-class nuclear attack submarines.

In spite of the reduction of military force the Hutorian Armed Forces are still a force to be reckoned with in the northern hemisphere; Hutori still has 10 Combat ready Divisions, in addition to four remaining Graham-class Supercarriers and their escorting Carrier Battle Groups, along with one of the most advanced Air Forces on Terra.

Incoming Chief of the Defence Staff, Army General Francois Perrault

General Keene is being replaced by General Francois Perrault, a Lourenne-Hutorian, who served various roles throughout the Hutorian Royal Army, including commander of the 9th Airborne Division, Western Army Command before his stint as Chief of Army Operations. General Perrault has stated that his first task is a reshuffling of Hutorian High Command, before having his staff work on a new White Paper, tentatively labelled, “A Report on the Future of the Commonwealth’s Defence Preparedness”.

“While we have had fewer resources and personnel with which to work with, my first task is making sure Hutori can defend itself and her interests abroad, and making sure the Armed Forces of our great nation, are at their peak of military preparedness for the reality we find ourselves in. Although we are receiving more money from Parliament this White Power will create the template in case military spending isn’t maintained and we can avoid the painful cuts that have had to have been made in the past several years.”

Parliament has recently passed a massive increase to the Defence budget, to allow General Perrault to restore the Hutorian Armed Forces to their primary primacy, though insiders at the Ministry of Defence has noted that as long as DND is required to pay for the six Crown Corporations that supply the military, they would still be neutered.

Defence Minister Pledges to Revitalize The Hutorian Armed Forces

Image
Defence Minister Jared Campbell takes questions from reporters after announcement of drastic cuts in military capacity.

Hutori's Minister of National Defence Jared Campbell was under fire from reporters today after his Chief of Defence Staff announced that drastic cuts to the size of Hutori's Armed Forces had been made, and then promptly resigned. Hutorians were aware of cuts needing to be made, but had no idea of the exact scale. The outgoing CDS explained that years of underfunding, and having the department fund crown corporations for defence industries took a toll on the abilities of the armed forces.

Minister Campbell said that he was made aware of the issues in his first briefing with the CDS when he took office, and the 35 Billion Lira spending increase passed by the conservatives was meant to help reduce the cutbacks. However the injection was too little, too late it seems, but the Minister says he and his government are committed to revitalizing the armed forces.

"For years, decades really, government after government has ignored our armed forces. I wish there was more I could have done to prevent these drastic cutbacks, however we will be insuring that service members who we have been forced to let go will be compensated and helped with their transition out of the service life, and there will be new roles created for those who would like to return to the service as our modernization and expansion process happens."

Isaac Steuart-Carmichael Gets Presidential Nod From Tories

Image
Isaac Steuart-Carmichael answers questions from reporters following the announcement of his campaign for President

The Conservative Party of Hutori announced today that it will be running a candidate in the upcoming Presidential elections after not nominating a candidate for multiple elections in a row. The candidate? Isaac Steuart-Carmichael, nephew of Empress Mary VI.

Aside from being a member of the Royal Family, Steuart-Carmichael has an extensive resume, having served in the Hutorian Royal Navy where he retired as a submarine commander. Currently Steuart-Carmichael is Vice President of Operations at Kenai Power, a role which he will be resigning from once a replacement is found.

This announcement comes as Conservatives have been surging in national polling. HBC's national poll tracker has the Conservatives averaging 23.7%, which is up 4.55% from their result 2 years ago. The poll tracker also has the Socialist front down 3% from their 4663 result.

Steuart-Carmichael Becomes Tory Leader, Rebrands Party

Image

After losing confidence in the House of Parliament, the Conservative caucus revolted against leader Réjeanne Courtois, defeating her leadership by a vote total of 73-25, with Courtois abstaining from the vote. Moments later, the caucus voted unanimously in favour of appointing Isaac Steuart-Carmichael as the new leader of the party.

While Steuart-Carmichael is not a sitting Member of Parliament just yet, it is expected that long time Tory backbencher Edward Houston will resign his seat in Glentingham East so that the new leader can contest a by-election for a seat.

And while his tenure as leader is very young, he has already made a big change. Just a day after being named leader, Steuart-Carmichael announced the party would be rebranding, with their new name being the Royalist Party of Hutori. When asked why the name change, Steuart-Carmichael had this to say:
"For a year I campaigned for President, during that time I spoke to Hutorians and specifically members of the Conservative Party, and the issue they identified to me as being of the utmost importance is the preservation of the Hutorian monarchy. With the rise of radical leftists in this country, we need to step up and actually fight for the monarchy. While the Liberals claim to be monarchists and then throw that away for power, we will actually stand up and defend the throne."

New moderate party forms amidst surge in far-left and far-right rhetoric
Announcing their formation at their headquarters in Constantine, the Federal Labour Party cited their formation out of a desire for the preservation of calm in national politics.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As extreme factions on both the left and right show their true colors, and pragmatism seemingly being swept underneath the rug, a new party has sought to wrest the political arena back into the control of moderates. After conducting a crowdfunding campaign to both secure a headquarters for their party alongside being registered, the Federal Labour Party was born. Celebrating the success of their foundation in their headquarters was Spencer Hill, a former trade unionist and past member of the Liberal caucus of the Royalist Party. In the years since his brief time out of local politics, Hill pursuing being an author, a trade he still partakes in today.

Whilst both the office of President and Prime Minister are in the hands of left-wing parties, Hill criticized them as too extreme, viewing them as "Part of deep-rooted" problem within current national politics. He then went on to cite his new party as a more moderate alternative, that although left-wing, wouldn't abandon the prospects of working with the right. Although Hill later explicitly ruled any possibility of cooperating with authoritarian right parties. "The central purpose of democracy for millennia has been cooperation. Pragmatism has been the key ingredient for efficient governance for centuries—Thousands of years, even. It's important we continue these fundamental values into the future," Hill stated, in his party's founding speech. "However we cannot let extremes on both sides of the aisle sow division and tear us apart. To continue the values of our Commonwealth—Our institutions, parliamentary democracy, and the monarchy, we on the moderate side must not allow such dangers to democracy a platform."

Despite the party having no seats, there have been rumors that the FLP has already begun the process of reaching out to the Liberal caucus of the Royalist Party to establish ties—Possibly for the chance at a future coalition. Alongside that, in his closing speech, Hill gave his full support to the moderate members of the opposition, alongside the Liberal caucus's leader, Amber Kinley.
