Revised Worker Strike Bill Set To Pass, Jourdain and Hill Building Strong Interparty Relationship

Royalist Conservative Chairman, and Government House Leader, Dylan Jourdain has scored a huge victory with the Revised Worker Strike Reform Bill. The bill is expected to pass with the support of the New Liberals, Federalists, Scientians, and the National Party. Jourdain worked with memebers from the Scientian Enclave, National Party and the New Liberals, namely the New Liberal Minister of Education, Jack Hill.

Jourdain and Hill have seemed to really click well together and both are willing to cross party lines in order to create strong legislation. Their cooperation with each other made Jourdain's hopes of strike reform possible. Jourdain had this to say on the way out of the house today.

" I have so much respect for Jack. He is a true parliamentarian and has shown his willingness to work with MPs of all political stripes, and help build strong legislation. I'd be remiss if I didn't also thank the Scientian Enclave and the National Party for their help in building this great piece of legislation that will ensure that workers are only striking for the right reasons, while also holding employers accountable when they wrongfully dismiss workers who have a reasonable cause to strike."

Drumf Becomes Chancellor as he assumes Leadership of the Royalist

Image
Newly Appointed Chancellor and Royalist Leader Clark Drumf

Following the Royalist Party's triumph in March's election which saw the Royalists return as the largest Party in Parliament, and take the Premiership in Adelia and Kenai. This all occurs as the Royalist Party has a new face and leader in the form of former Progressive Caucus Chair, Clark Drumf, as he won a decisive win in the Royalist Leadership race following the retirement of Natalie Cook as Leader and Chancellor. Drumf served as the two term Minister of Trade & Industry under Chancellors Cook and Weatherly, and has served as the Member of Parliament for Acton Centre since 4422, making him a rare bird in the normally ultraconservative Acton.

Drumf has come in at an interesting time as Chancellor under the first New Liberal President since Constance Okafor in Peter Knox, and the first time in years that the Royalist Party has been the single most powerful Party in Parliament, and with ongoing war in Dovani.

Following Drumf as leader of the Progressive Caucus is Amanda King, the current Defence Minister and incoming Foreign Affairs Minister. Amanda King has a reputation as one of the most effective Parliamentarians in Parliament and a highly effective communicator, having straddled the immense bureaucracy that is the Ministry of Defence for two terms.

Royalists Bid Farewell to Michelle Jones After 50 Years of Service

Michelle Jones, the MP for Prosperity Westmount, has announced her retirement from politics. Jones will go down as the longest serving MP in Royalist Party history, even longer than any MP who served in the Conservative Party before the Royalist merger, having served for 50 years. In her 50 years, Michelle took on many roles, including 2 different cabinet portfolios. From 4385 - 4389 she served as Food & Agriculture Minister under the Hugh Laurie government, and then served as Justice Minister under Pascale Rousseau from 4392 - 4397. Since 4416, she has been serving as the critic for Foreign Affairs, and she served as Government House Leader from 4418 - 4426. Jones had been the only still-serving MP elected before the Royalist merger for more than a decade. The Prosperity Westmount Royalist Association held a farewell party for Jones, and more than 10,000 people came out. Jones gave a farewell speech at the end of the night.

"Thank you everyone. It has been an absolute honor to serve you as your MP for the last 50 years. I have had the honor and privilege to serve under many great Conservative and Royalist Party Leaders. When I was first elected, Aaron Scheer was in his last few months as leader, in that short time he taught me so many valuable lessons that I would remember for my entire 50 years in that house. I also served under 3 incredible Royalist Chancellors, Pascale Rousseau, Brett Martin, and Natalie Cook. I thank all of them for their leadership. I would also like to thank Dylan Jourdain for being an incredible Caucus Leader for the last 17 years of my career. Many people ask me, what was your proudest moment as an MP. To each and everyone of them, I say that it was 8 years ago, when I got to watch my daughter be sworn in as the MP for Prosperity Hills West. At that time, I knew that not only had I done my best serving all of you, but I had also raised a daughter who cared about her community as much as I do. Thank you for putting your faith in me for the last 50 years, and I wish the new MP for Prosperity Westmount, Kyle Cooper all the best."

It was announced in a statement by a spokesperson for the House of Steuert-Charmichael that Jones will be Knighted in a ceremony later this year.

"Empress Mary expresses her sincerest gratitude to Michelle Jones for her 50 years of service to the people of Prosperity Westmount. She has given her life to her community and always put the needs of her constituents first. The House of Steuert-Charmichael thanks her for her service, and is pleased to announce that at a ceremony later this year, she will be Knighted by Empress Mary."

Jourdain announces his bid for the presidency

"Thank you for coming everyone. Today marks the beggining of a new chapter in my political career. I have served in Parliament for more than 20 years. I couldn't be more grateful to each and every one of you who have repeatedly sent me to Bekenial to represent you. I have had the honor to serve as Finance Minister in multiple governments, and to serve as the leader of the Conservative Caucus in the Royalist Party. It is because of your support that I am where I am today, and now I ask for your support again. This time it is not just to Fairview Prosperity to re-elect me as your MP, but to all of Hutori to elect me as your next President. I have had the honor to serve under 2 extraordinary Presidents, but now I believe it is time we finally elect a Royalist President. I must thank the Royalist Party for selecting me as their candidate. I would also like to thank each and every MP that I have worked with in Parliament for helping me become the man I am today. It is not only a new chapter in my life, but a new chapter in the history of this great nation!"

Knox Promises to Keep His Promises

Postby Sovak111 » Sun Jul 29, 2018 9:02 pm

President Knox was asked about whether he planned to break his campaign promise and run against Dylan Jourdain. Knox responded candidly:

Dylan is a good man. He sticks to his guns. I'd like to think I'm the same way. No, I will not be running for re-election. If I wanted to be a monarch and stick around for my entire life, I would have tried to marry Empress Mary!

Right now, I'm not focused on the elections that will happen in 3 years time. I'm focused on two things: ending this war, and reforming our tax code. As long as I can get those two issues done, I see no reason to run for re-election.

Emperor William VII Comes to the Throne

With the passing of Her Imperial and Most Excellent Royal Majesty, Empress Mary III, Crown Prince William has been formally coronated as the new head of the Imperial Commonwealth, assuming the throne as His Imperial and Most Excellent Royal Majesty, Emperor William VII. The Emperor has withdrawn his formal claim as Monarch of Mordusia, Kirlawa and Keymon, instead assuming the title of Inheritor of the House of Rothingren-Traugott, Orange Villyan Branch, formalizing the House of Steuart-Carmichael's claim as the sole inheritors of the western branch of the powerful Rothingren-Traugott dynasty. This coincides with his choice of wife, Archduchess Rosalinde, the second daughter of Kaiser Otto IV, the one of the dual monarch of Mikuni-Hulstria, who has become Queen Consort and honoured as the Duchess of Bekenial. Emperor William VII will travel to Fort William to be formalized as Holy Emperor of Luthori, formally becoming the Sovereign of the Imperial Commonwealth upon confirmation.

Despite formally withdrawing his claim as head of four of the former Imperial Commonwealth states, Emperor William VII is considered the most powerful and influential Hutorian monarch in modern history. He is the grandson of the last Kazullian Queen Alexandra, giving him the hereditary title of Prince of Kazullia and formally a claim on a restored Kazullian throne, and continues to lay claim to be a Prince of Vanuku, a title that has been stripped from his mother by current sitting Queen. Queen Mrjmai and Emperor William VII are said to have a close friendship, fostered during the then Crown Prince's deployment in Vanuku has Commandant of the Marine Detachment attached to the Hutorian Embassy in Wiel. Up until the breakdown of relations between Bekenial and Wiel, the Wiel deployment was considered one of the choicest and desirable posting for a Marine. Following his coronation as Sovereign of the Imperial Commonwealth, His Imperial Majesty has stated he will travel to Wiel to offer his respects to Queen Mrjmai and affirm his loyalty as a fellow Jelbic and to affirm to her the title of Grand Duchess of Roccato, a title held by the Vanukean Royal Family since the times of Emperor Alexander.

It's been noted by numerous legal and constitutional scholars that despite His Imperial Majesty formally withdrawing his claim as King of Mordusia, Alduria and Kirlawa, his title of Inheritor of the House of Rothingren-Traugott means that, informally, he is still laying his ancestral claim on those crowns, should they chose to restore the Monarchy as a later time, and further nations besides, though the Emperor has stated he has no desire to force the issue with any nation, stating "The Imperial Commonwealth is an organic body. Nations come and go, but the ties we have built remain."

Consortium of Hutorian Corporations Offer Major Investment in Trigunia

At an annual stakeholders meeting, President of Gold Lion Capital Investments, Hutori's largest hedge fund and investment firm, Wayne Steuart-Carmichael, has announced that he and the CEOS of several other major Hutorian players have sought approval from the Trigunian government to invest money into their failing economy.

At a business retreat in St. Adrian, the President, the younger brother of newly crowned Emperor Alexander VII, told high level investors that investing in Trigunia was critical to the economic well being of the north, and not just Trigunia.

Many nations are tied in with Trigunia, and it's economy fails there's does as well. Hutori is the leader of the Keris Macon bloc, and despite whatever political differences are between our nations, we are as one. Business is business, and if the Trigunian government approves, myself and several of my collegues will inject hundreds of millions into Trigunia, to save their industry, shore up their economy, and better both of us for the future.

The companies in question are Gold Lion Capital Investment, which are commonly seen as the financial arm of the Hutorian Royal Family, Horizon Technology Corporation, Hutori's largest and most powerful technology and aerospace defence firm, the Carter Energy Group, a consortium of powerful Falristan energy concerns that have a de-facto monopoly over energy and mineral extraction in northern Hutori, and Ross Motors, a company best known for defence vehicles for the Hutorian Army and Marine Corps, but also domestic trucks and cars.

President Wayne Steuart-Carmichael, admitted that the Trigunian government may not be receptive to their offer, but it was one that had to be made and encouraged many of the investors who has Trigunian contacts to use them and aid in shoring up the Trigunian economy and to avoid the backlash that it could face if the aftershocks of Majatra's Black Thursday were to spread to Keris and Macon.

Royalists Resign From Cabinet, Will Sit In Opposition

After a disappointing election which resulted in the Royalists losing 56 seats and Dylan Jourdain being beating by USPH leader Ultrackius for the Presidency. After 8 years of serving in a cabinet alongside the USPH, the Royalists have had enough and are refusing to work under President-Elect Ultrackius. The Royalists have served in 9 consecutive cabinets, but for the first time in 42 years, the next cabinet will not include them. Just after the results of the election were announced, the Royalists held a caucus meeting where members from both the Progressive and Conservative wings who were serving in cabinet all agreed to step down from their positions. Clark Drumf (Chancellor), Dylan Jourdain (Finance), Xander Woodbury (Defense), Michelle Scheer (Health), and Rose McHale (Trade & Industry), all resigned from their positions. Amanda King will stay on as Foreign Affairs Minister and Interim Chancellor until a new Cabinet is elected. King has been part of ongoing peace talks in the Dovani War, which is why she will stay on for the time being. The 2 caucus leaders, Jourdain and Drumf, issued a joint statement explaining their decision.

"we admit that the results of this past election were not in our favour. We lost the Presidential election, and lost 56 incredible MPs. We believe part of this is due to Hutorian voters feeling like the government that has served for the last 8 years hasn't done anything of much significance for them. This, in our opinion is due to the USPH's unwillingness to work with us to get things done. After serving in cabinet with the Ultrackian Socialist Party for the last 8 years, we have realized just how hard they are to work with, and have come to the conclusion that we just cannot do it anymore. We realize that it will be impossible for us to form a cabinet without them, and therefore will sit in opposition for the next 4 years. We cannot serve in cabinet with them any longer, and certainly cannot serve under an Ultrackian President."

The Royalists have also announced the MPs who will be serving in their Shadow Cabinet.

Clark Drumf - Leader of the Official Opposition
Dylan Jourdain - Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition and Shadow Minister of Finance
Amanda King - Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs
Emily Jones - Shadow Minister of Internal Affairs
Xander Woodbury - Shadow Minister of Defence
Raymond Houston - Shadow Minister of Justice
Peter Houston - Shadow Minister of Infrastructure & Transport
Dr Eric Shaw - Shadow Minister of Health & Social Services
Tony Best - Shadow Minister of Education & Culture
Michelle Scheer - Shadow Minister of Science & Technology
Glen Wolffang - Shadow Minister of Food & Agriculture
Emily Brown - Shadow Minister of Environment & Tourism
Rose McHale - Shadow Minister of Trade & Industry

New Liberals to Join Cabinet, with Hill as Chancellor

Postby Sovak111 » Mon Aug 06, 2018 11:14 am

The New Liberal Party will again join the cabinet as Jack Hill is set to become Chancellor. The electoral reemergence of the National Party and the new Consumers Party winning key seats in the New Liberal Strongholds of Axminster and Sutton resulted in a loss of 22 seats in Parliament for the New Liberals. With the Consumers party and USPH now having enough votes to try to build a cabinet, the New Liberal Party were the only party willing to listen to offers from the two leftist parties. The New Liberal Party's 40 votes puts the USPH and Consumers party into government, but also means both leftist parties rely completely on the New Liberals for support. Should the NLP choose to vote against a USPH-Consumers policy position, it would not likely pass. Should the USPH and Consumers Party vote against a New Liberal bill, interim Party Leader Sophia Morris suggested the party would resign from cabinet and call for early elections.

Said Williams University Professor of Government Brett Taylor about the New Liberal decision to join the cabinet:

"The New Liberals have never been so consequential to a government before. they are in a situation where as long as the Royalists, Nationalists, and Democrats hold firm, no government position will pass without the New Liberals. If the government goes off the deep end, the New Liberals can push back. Yes, they are the smallest party in the coalition, but they may also be the only one that can work with the opposition. They can make a very credible threat to the USPH and Consumers - back us up or we're walking!"

Ross Motors Buys Numerous Factories in Davostan

Image
Ross Motors Corporate Headquarters in Glentingham

The largest vehicle manufacturer in Hutori is expanding operations west as in a public statement to shareholders and senior investors, Ross Motors Company has announced it will be purchasing a dozen factory spaces in eastern Dovastan to expand it's production capabilities.

Ross Motors is most famous for providing APCs and IFVs to the Hutorian Army and Royal Marines, along with the bulk of their trucks, but they have a powerful domestic market in domestic and civillian vehicles, one that was mostly and widely looked over up until recently. Ross Motors announced they would be releasing a number of SUVs, Trucks and mid sized cars for the domestic market, using Davostan for their base. While not publicly stating why the factories are being opened in Davostan rather then Hutori, most business analysts point to the uncertainty of Hutorian markets in light of the new left leaning socialist government. Davostan has zero corporate taxes, and few regulations, where has Hutori has a 3% tax with the Ultrackians and Consumers having put multiple threats forward to raise it to as much as 30%.

President and CEO of Ross Motors, Adrian Ross, has noted that these expansions help both Hutori and Davostan economically. The vehicles will be widely sold in Hutori using Hutorian parts, resources and for the Hutorian and later international markets, it simply made better business sense to open the factories in Davostan where it was evidently cheaper.

I would gladly open a second or third factory here in Glentingham and employ Hutorian workers, but the cold truth is, we have a government that doesn't appear to be friendly to business, and until we get those assurances, we will go where it makes sense. I'm not abandoning Hutori, I still pay my taxes here, I still live here, and I still vote here, but I will do business where it makes the best sense for my company and it's future.

==============

Carter Energy Groups Buys Out Most Davostani Energy Concerns

In a series of hostile take overs, Hutori's powerful Carter Energy Group, a conglomerate of energy and resource extractions companies from Carter City, have purchased almost every private energy provider in Davostan, giving the Falristan based conglomerate almost de-facto control over the Davostani power grid. CEG Chairman Andrew Blackpaw, noted that this was simply the first of a dozen moves the conglomerate were doing to diversify their portfolios and expand their economic horizons, instead of sticking strictly to Hutori, especially in the face of business uncertainty.

We have seen the vast nationalization of our industries happen time and again, including our most profitable energy production businesses. This is not a sustainable way of doing business, especially if the socialists move to nationalize everything all over again. We are making these and other moves to protect our future, not just of the company, but of our partners the Mashacara people, whom I represent, and the Falristan Provincial Government, who relies on us for product and stability; not the insanity that often comes from Bekenial.

The Carter Energy Group is a powerful conglomerate of energy and resource extraction companies, a Board made up of the Chieftains of the Five Tribes of Falristan, and even a buy-in from the Falirstan Provincial Government who owns 15% of the shares of the Group publicly traded shares. In light of the expansion westward, a growing trend amongst Hutorian companies to avoid possible backlash and business unrest from the new openly socialist government, Carter Energy Group's shares soared on both the Kenai Stock Exchange (KSX) and on the international Hutorian Central Stock Exchange (HCSE). Carter Energy has promised nothing will change short or medium term in Davostan, as the government has a decidedly lasse-faire relationship with the economy and all the Carter Energy Group was assuming control of the companies and seeing where improvements could be made.
