New Liberal Leader Rebecca Doyle finds herself increasingly isolated as her former boss recently spoke out against her decision to hold up the coronation of the Monarch.
Russell Selwyn, the former New Liberal Party Leader and current ambassador to St. Muron and Davostan, was asked by local media on a visit to St. Leonard for his thoughts on the bill from the St. Muron Republican Party to eliminate the powers of the nobility in Davostan. Selwyn responded, saying "It is not the position of my government to comment on pending legislation in Davostan. I will say, however, I am a monarchist. It is the position of my government that there are great benefits to having a head of state outside of the political process." In a follow-up question, Selwyn was asked about the constitutional crisis concerning yet-to-be-coronated-Empress Mary III in Hutori. " I do hope that cooler heads can prevail."
Doyle (L) and Selwyn (R) were once close friends. Their relationship has grown increasingly strained since Doyle took over as Party Leader.
Doyle was quick to respond to Selwyn's remarks in a statement published today on the New Liberal Party website.
The Dispatch reached out to Selwyn's office for comment. The Ambassador declined to respond, except to say, "Ambassador Selwyn will continue to serve and support the People of Hutori until such a time comes when the Foreign Secretary and President no longer believe he is fit for office."

Russell Selwyn is no longer the leader of this party. I am. And what I say goes. I hope Russ will learn to keep his opinions to himself. As a civil servant he is required to be neutral in matters of politics in Hutori. I will be introducing a bill to sanction Russ for his insubordination and blatant political activity. The rule of law must prevail and this house must vote to sanction the Ambassador.
